Ubreakifix screen replacement - Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hey guys. New to the forum. Hope this is the right thread for my question. The other day I noticed a dead pixel on my note 10 + and through Samsung warranty I took it for screen replacement to ubreakifix.
I got the phone back today and the screen is fixed.. I test functionality at the store no dead pixels, camera and everything else is working. But tonight while reinspecting for any micro scratches on the back glass(I found none) but I did notice one of the camera housings is pretty scratched up in the inside. So I'm just not sure if it's something I should take back my phone to the store for. Since the phone itself is functioning as it should.
What do you guys think? I have a picture but it won't let me post the link since I'm new.

Even if fronts repaired you would need to prove who caused camera scratches, as if you cant convince them then another charge.

dead pixels on your vibrant?

Anyone else randomly get a line of dead pixels across there phone? Any idea what could have caused this? Or if it can be fixed?
I have had this phone for over a month now and don't really want to have to return to t mobile for a "like new" phone. This phone is in perfect condition, I have had it in a silicone case with screen protector since it was out of the box.. And has never been dropped once.
Any ideas for me?

Fortunately, no, I don't have that problem. But, I have seen cases where a scratch on a screen will show a 'rainbow' effect seeming just like dead pixels. Not on this phone, though. Knock on wood.
I have a little rainbow line in my Vibrant but I dont know if its for the screen protector and i dont want to remove it
Called cc and they are going to send me a like new.. Seems like its all I can do

sorry to bring this back from the dead, but I have a single dead pixel in my vibrant screen as well.
this sucks, bc i took all that time to root my phone and got it running with the rom and kernel of my liking and now i have a dead pixel in the screen that bothers the hell out of me.
i have tried running strobe light, and also pixel fixer from the market with no luck...
people with dead pixels should all post in here so we can compile a list.
I had the problem of the "rainbow line" that I thought were dead pixels. Turns out it was indeed the InvisibleShield screen protector as others have suggested. Removed it, put on Real Look, problem is gone. Screen is beautiful.
no i can confirm I def. have a single solid dead black pixel... i have tried everything, but no luck.
I am going to wait until next year, and let this phone get all mangled/used and then call CC before the 1yr stock manufacture warranty is up and get a brand new device...
sucks ill have to go through all the root steps again, but a 500+ dollar phone should not have dead pixels in less than 2 months of ownership. (SAMOLED is not perfected yet? shortage and new 5.5billion $amsung factory????)
i think we should sticky this, from what i can tell from searching and scouring google - many owners are having similar issues with dead and stuck pixels...
some are able to fix, but most are not.
it would be nice to see just how many vibrant users are having this issue, or SGS users across all carriers for that matter? (vibrant seems to have the best display, as ive had them all side-by-side).
Mods, Admins? can we get this going?
phones aren't any different than tv's or monitors....you get dead pixels on occasion over time
1 dead pixel isn't going to kill ya, live with it or get a refurb replacement

[q] need help fast, lcd looks as if its broken???

I just recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy S2 from eBay, the seller stated that the LCD screen was "very dark" and not quite working right. When I received the phone it was far more then "very dark", half of the screen looks as if the LCD is leaking out or has been broken? The digitizer is mint and works and the phone its self is in AMAZING shape. NO scratches or chips or anything. It honestly looks brand new. I even tested the battery for usage and its showing up that this battery IS indeed brand new. Like I said it is mint so there is no possible way this phone was dropped. My first guess was a ROM issue, but I just noticed you can see the screen defect without the phone even being turned on. So what I am thinking is water damage. I read all over online about people having problems with there screens going black, this might also be the case. If it is water damage, does anyone know EXACT locations of indicators on the phone? I looked in the battery compartment and found nothing what so ever. I want to sell this thing today, (just received it in the mail) I need the cash so I was hoping someone would be able to point me in the right direction?? I uploaded photos below, the second one is with the phone turned off, the reflection is from my computer. For reference, it is the Samsung Galaxy SII 19100, with Bell Canada. Thanks in advanced!
I'm no expert but does not look like something you can fix yourself I'm afraid.
Send it back I say.

send it back to whoever sold it
you kinda got scammed there, imho
See Im trying to figure out if the LCD was broken by physical damage or if this has happened before to people, because if its a manufacturing issue I can just send it back to Samsung and they will fix it no problem as long as this was caused on their part. If it WAS broken by the ebay seller, I might be better off buying a new lcd and installing it myself. I only paid $200CAD so it would be worth keeping if all thats wrong is the LCD. But like I said I would rather Samsung do it, lol its free.

Scratch that, the LCD is almost $200. Not worth buying and fixing. But does anyone know if this could be classified as a manufacturing issue? I can just send it in if it is?
anybody at all?? I just want to confirm that this could be a manufacturing issue, theres no water damage and the screen is not cracked from a drop any ideas would be awesome. I might just try to send it in to Samsung just to see what happens.

Chrome peeling

Search in this forum isn't working and no results with Google so i will post it here. The chrome around the camera is peeling after 5 days. I have babied the phone since i received it and never put it on and hard surface so I have no clue how this could happen. I already had to replace the battery cover because the first one was scratched out of the box. time to return? I hate to have to keep exchanging and complaining at the store but paying full price for a phone and already seeing that this phone cant hold up is disappointing.

Just exchange it for a new phone unless you have an international version. I'm sure it's still under warranty. Exactly what response were you looking for?
I have a feeling this phone is extremely sensitive.
I got mine yesterday and I'm not sure if it came out the box with a nick on the bezel or I somehow did within the first hr trying to activate my sim because the folks at Walmart didn't.
But it's there, it's tiny, but it's bugging the **** out of me.
Hope I'm wrong, but I'm hoping a case helps out.
I had the S2 without a case, but this one is too slippery for me, I'm afraid I'm gonna drop it.
I would exchange it!!

I was just curious if anyone else was having the same quality issues. as I said I already had to swap out the battery cover. they didn't seem to happy to do that so not sure what to expect when I show them this.

Help my LCD cracked!

I'm in school right now and go to pull out my phone from my pocket and my screen wouldn't turn on. I come to see little hairline cracks on my screen but not on my glass which is odd. Now my phone turns on but the screen itself is just dead. I am rooted and running a rom so what should I do? Please help me!

OK, If you're not insured then you need to look at this video by Erica Griffin. Yes, this is for the GS3 but it really shouldn't be any different for the GS4. Her Vid on YouTube shows you how to replace the screen with digitizer and using all of the other parts from your current phone. It's actually a good video to see just so you know how easy this stuff is to do. The screen w/digitizer seems to run around $200 which is way better then $500-600 to buy a new phone outright. Just remember, I'm just giving you a cheaper option to fix it if you don't have insurance.

They claim that as long as they can't prove that the cracks were from impact there shouldn't be a problem. I'm afraid they might screw me over. But i mean the glass is completely fine and my sides have small nicks from previous small drops. im gonna try to unroot and wipe tomorrpw after school
My screen blacked out a week ago but been too busy to deal with it. Display comes through MHL onto my TV display so wonder do I need all parts mentioned? There's no crack in my display, but to my surprise the "moisture detector" sticker is tainted red (the big visible one, as I understand there are multiple stickers -- can someone confirm this to be correct?).
I may just take a risk and request replacement over the phone. Once or more in the past, I've had a warranty period issue replaced with the warning "...if its determined to be your fault, we will charge you the full retail price" and I've sent them bootloader unlocked, watermarked phones and they let it slide. There truly was no submersion or even open case exposure to water, I'm not sure how sensitive this particular sensor is to humidity or moisture through an enclosed back.
Anybody else surprised to see their "watermark" turn red when they feel it should not have been? From past experience having phones replaced via phone support, I'd wager they take my rooted, broken-display phone and never charge me for it.........................I been with VZW a decade and a half and then Bell Atlantic Mobile and planned in about 220-250 consistently for nearly a decade.........I'm not saying VZW is prone to show courtesy for longevity, but this could be 3-4 such instances in the smartphone era of questionable watermarks of rooted and flashed-to-hell Blackberries including blatant cracks...............

Dead Spot in Camera Sensor

Ok, question for you guys. I noticed this weekend that my camera sensor has a dead spot in it. If I purchased the phone through AT&T, do you think they would take care of it at the store or would I have to send it to HTC? I'll attach some pics of the spot.
Thanks for your help

I think the camera is fine. You just have a law enforcement drone surveilling you.
You made sure they are not dead LCD pixels? Take it to AT&T first, but if it is after 30 days, they will likely make you deal with HTC.

Lol, The UFO/Drone thought did cross my mind.
It's definitely sensor as these pics are, pretty much, directly form the camera.

They changed the in-store return policy some time ago. You only have 14 days to swap in-store for a new device. After that, you go through AT&T warranty department and will probably get a refurbished M8.
But you don't ever have to deal directly with HTC, if you purchased from AT&T.
I assume OP has checked the glass on both cameras to make sure its not just some dirt or dust on the surface of the glass? I've also noticed a spec of dust under the glass ("inside" the phone) but in front of the actual camera module (top camera), on my M8. It seems to be out of the way, and can't be seen in photos. Although its possible it will move in the future, and be seen in pics. Can you see anything like that inside? Not something you can fix easily. But at least might give you an idea what is going on.
Otherwise, maybe it is a defect of the camera sensor itself, as the OP mentioned.

Yes, I have checked the glass on the camera to make sure it's not that. Unfortunately I'm pretty sure it's a dead spot or debris on my sensor. I'm leaning towards dead spot though as I've tapped the phone on a hard surface and the spot doesn't move. Guess I'll bring it into AT&T and see what they say.
Thank you
