Android 10
Magisk v20.4+ recommended, v20.2 minimum
OnePlus 6/6T (It should work on 6T, though I can't try it) running ANDROID 10 ROMs (Tested on OOS 10.3.x and some Android 10 custom ROMs)
Other OnePlus devices running OOS 10 (NOT TESTED)
Android 11
Magisk v20.4 canary or future A11 compatible versions required
OnePlus 6/6T (It should work on 6T, though I can't try it) running ANDROID 11 CUSTOM ROMs (Tested only on PiXeN 11)
Android 10
NEW WAY TO INSTALL THIS MOD (Since v2.3, as Tomatot Debloater doesn't work on OOS anymore)
FOLLOW THIS IN THIS ORDER IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BOOTLOOP AND BACKUP YOUR STUFF BEFORE PROCEEDING!
1. Install Lawnchair Launcher latest pre-alpha from here (If using FULL or EXTRAS)
Steps 2 & 3 for OOS users
2. With the device already booted and after enabling USB Debugging in Developer settings, using ADB on a connected computer or any terminal emulator on the device (I personally recommend Termux), type:
On the PC:
Code:
adb shell
You should see your device name, OnePlus6.
Copy and paste EVERYTHING (Right click on PC), then hit enter. You should see some messages of "Success"; don't panic if you see some errors, there may be packages that aren't installed. If you don't get any outcome like this, check ADB is installed properly on your PC or you pasted exactly what's on this code box.
Code:
pm uninstall --user 0 com.oem.autotest; pm uninstall --user 0 com.oneplus.opbugreportlite; pm uninstall --user 0 net.oneplus.commonlogtool; pm uninstall --user 0 com.qti.snapdragon.qdcm_ff; pm uninstall --user 0 com.android.traceur; pm uninstall --user 0 com.android.stk; pm uninstall --user 0 com.example.rftuner; pm uninstall --user 0 com.oneplus.bttestmode; pm uninstall --user 0 com.example.wifirftest; pm uninstall --user 0 com.oneplus.deskclock; pm uninstall --user 0 com.google.android.youtube; pm uninstall --user 0 com.oneplus.mms; pm uninstall --user 0 com.android.dialer; pm uninstall --user 0 com.oneplus.calculator; pm uninstall --user 0 com.oneplus.contacts; pm uninstall --user 0 com.oneplus.filemanager; pm uninstall --user 0 cn.oneplus.photos; pm uninstall --user 0 com.oneplus.factorymode.specialtest; pm uninstall --user 0 com.oem.logkitservice; pm uninstall --user 0 net.oneplus.commonlogtool; pm uninstall --user 0 com.oneplus.factorymode; pm uninstall --user 0 com.oem.oemlogkit; pm uninstall --user 0 com.qualcomm.qti.perfdump; pm uninstall --user 0 com.oem.rftoolkit; pm uninstall --user 0 com.fingerprints.fingerprintsensortest; pm uninstall --user 0 cn.oneplus.oemtcma; pm uninstall --user 0 com.oem.logkitsdservice; pm uninstall --user 0 cn.oneplus.nvbackup; pm uninstall --user 0 net.oneplus.push; pm uninstall --user 0 com.android.bookmarkprovider
This will remove some system apps from OnePlus! Be careful if you want to use something from them, though you can reinstall some of them as user apps. (note below)
3. Reboot to system. (OnePlus system apps like Messages, Dialer, etc... HAVE TO BE DELETED. You have to check. If they aren't, the debloat didn't make its job. Repeat or don't flash. This will lead sometimes to unsaveable bootloop, even if magisk is uninstalled. Reflashing OOS might help.)
4. Install the module through Magisk Manager
5. Reboot to system
6. Change default home app to Lawnchair Launcher (If FULL or EXTRAS)
That's it!
Notes:
-FOR GOOGLE PHONE, SELECT IT AS PHONE APP IN DEFAULT APPS OR YOU WON'T RECEIVE CALLS!
-Apps removed by debloater: OnePlus Dialer, Contacts, Messages, Clock, Calculator, File Manager and many useless OEM log and test tools
Android 11
1. Install the module through Magisk Manager
2. Reboot to system
That's it!

I actually tried but it's impossible for me, I would have to modify the SystemUI.apk or framework-res.apk to make it work, but after looking into them I desisted. It's possible tho, but only if I were a dev

Paphonb made this mod but it's dead. I don't think he would return to do it for OOS 10. I looked into it but he made modifications I don't know how to do. I will update this when I figure it out

Guys so I've been trying to port more apps and features to OOS. Maybe tomorrow will upload a full featured zip, if everything goes well :good:

But would it work without screwing other stuff? I have read about the propedit stuff, not sure if they work though with unlimited gdrive for original resolution in google photos and certainly it wouldn't be google photos prop edit only. Have I missed sth?

It shouldn't, it just adds and replaces a few XMLs that activate pixel features. If you only change props to P3XL you get the "account storage" bar in GPhotos while having the "Unlimited photo storage" message. With XMLs the bar disappears. I tried this by myself by uploading videos and they don't count against your quota.

[Guide] How To: Disable Apps With Temp Root

Hey all. Now that temp root is obtained I just thought I'd share how you can quickly and easily disable stock applications using the pm (package manager) binary . While this won't fully uninstall them (not quite possible yet) it will disable them so that they can't be run.
In rosie the application will disappear from the app drawer (may require a reboot -- no worries, pm disable will stick on reboot). In alternate launchers it may change to the default android icon and you may need to hide it in your launcher to actually get it to not show (this was experienced in go launcher).
Keep in mind that if you disable something that the phone needs, then it may stop booting or cause FC'ing. You do it at your own risk!
It's as simple as:
1. Obtain temp root -- here or here
2. adb shell
3. pm disable [package]

Need to turn something back on? Simply use: pm enable [package].
Example of what it should look like:
adb shell
# pm disable com.qikffc.android
Package com.qikffc.android new state: disabled

Great thread, thanks for sharing flipz. I look forward to seeing what you cook up for this phone when perm root is finally achieved
You mention it may need a reboot. Will these disabled apps stick when rebooted, as we seem to lose root when doing so.

Yes, they do stick through reboot. I'll add that to the original post.
you can actually install Titanium Backup and completely uninstall apps (instead of disabling them).

Does that stick after a reboot though? I thought that was the issue.

Need to turn something back on? Simply use: pm enable [package].
Example of what it should look like:
I have attached a list of all of the packages on /system/ and their associated apk name to help make it easier for you.

Would someone please be kind enough to give me the package names for the following apps:

it removes the apps... yes! they don't come back...
UPDATE: guess i was wrong... instead of rebooting i shut it down (sleep?) and they didn't come back... but after a full reboot they do. Still, with titanium backup is easier to Freeze the apps
thnx, will play with it after my nap! lo

A) it was just an example. I knew the package name off the top of my head. B) "removing" those apps that Sprint allowed people to remove actually only pm disables them, same as this here. It does not remove them from the phone..

Thanks for this. This is my first Android, and even though I have hardly any coding experience, this was easy to follow, and, more importantly, it worked!
would love to disable car panel as well

[MOD] Make your tic-watch run faster and have better battery life.

Hello!
Before I start, shout out to xda user dany_ev3 for inspiration and his guide which is featured here.
This guide is only meant for ticwatch e, s and pro 2020, and the C series excluding the C2 plus. 3 pro has been updated to include different software.
Before following these steps, please follow https://forum.xda-developers.com/wear-os/development/make-ticwatch-smoother-disabling-t3951734 and then come back here
Your ticwatch comes pre-installed with lots of bloat. This bloat CONSTANTLY runs in the background, making your watch slow and having virtually no battery life. First you will need to disable the ticsystem app. The thing that controls this bloat. See the Link above. (another shout-out to dany_ev3)
Go into your watches settings, scroll to system > about > and tap on build number 10 times. Or until it says 'You are now a developer!'.
Then, make sure you have adb on your PC, I wont cover it here, just google install adb and follow a guide.
One done navigate to C:\adb and then open a command prompt. Then type 'adb shell'
Your in the shell now.
Type:
pm list package | grep 'mobvoi'
and it should give you a list of package names.
Then, type:
pm uninstall -k --user 0 package-name
replacing package-name with the packages they gave you.
DO NOT UNINSTALL SYSTEM OR WATCHFACE. THIS WILL MAKE YOUR SYSTEM UNSTABLE. DON'T ASK ME HOW I KNOW.
After uninstalling, reboot your watch. Now your watch will be faster, smoother and have better battery life.
Again, shout out to dany_ev3 for his amazing guide.
so this didn't work as well for me as it did for you.. I uninstalled the privacy, account, fitness and health packages and rebooted. Now the system is unstable and won't stay on long enough to factory restart or do anything, nor will it boot into recovery. After one reboot it displays the message: "mobvoi/catshark/catshark
9/pwdd.190617.032/5929426
user/release-keys"
and "can't load android system."
What's going on and how do I fix it?
EDIT: Per this thread (https://forum.mobvoi.com/viewtopic.php?t=54561), when it brings up this screen, you can hit the lower button to completely factory reset. Not optimal, but it fixed this issue.

That's weird. Nothing I would of done wouldn't result in the Android system crashing. Did you disable Mobvoi system? Also, what's your Android and Wearos version. I need to look into this.

sure; thanks. I had previously disabled the System package as described in the other post you linked to here and it worked fine. It was only after I uninstalled packages via the process you outlined here that the system became unstable. Wear OS 2.17, says the system version is H.

Sorry for extremely late reply, what watch are you using? Some watches have a different system app that HAS to run in the background for the system to work.
@BlockArchitech
I own a Ticwatch Pro (Not 4G).
I disabled some mobvoi apps thanks to the guides on this forum and the watch now is extra reactive.
You suggest not to uninstall TicSystem and Watchfaces because the watch will become unstable.
Is this true even if the watch is ok with these 2 apps disabled?
I use Google Fit Watchface so I don't need all the others, as an example.
Thanks!

I uninstalled everything except for the system, watchface and Lauchner.
Is there a second launcher installed? or will I get lost without a lauchner?
Is there an original Google Lauchner like on Android?
OK, i have a Problem, seems ticwatch 3 pro has Other Services that should not get uninstalled.
i did not uninstall watchface. When I wanted to change my watchface, a simple number clock appeared instead, I can no longer select a watchface

Factory Reset
a suggestion: unless you really NEED the space on the watch do not UNINSTALL: just DISABLING the apps achieve the same result while also not requiring a whole factory reset to get them back should you disable the wrong one or decide you liked some of them after all.

After installing the layers you want in substratum lite you reboot. Then you go back into substratum lite. Enable all layers. Reboot again for system to pick up theme. After you reboot from now on you will need to go into substatum lite then 3 dot menu hit restart system UI.

At first, I am sorry for that happened to your device.
If you have Magisk (every rooted user have this now)
Substratum installs Magisk Module with overlays. So disabling/removing Magisk Modules will also disable/remove all overlays installed with Substratum.
The safe recovery was in your hands but may be you got panic so early.
If you had TWRP Recovery
You just needed to install Substratum Rescue zip file in recovery. That zip is placed in your device storage by Substratum itself.
But I gues you were not having TWRP (That I don't know how and why)
So Safeboot was fine for you. But.....Oops.
=======
It was just a theme, it was not playing with the system or affectinf the system.
UI crashes after enabling substratum themes means....theme doesnt get installed properly and etc.
When you changed from normal substratim tl lite one, did you disabled overlays from substratum?, Then uninstall overlays from substratum?, Then reboot system
After reboot uninstall substratum..
And then install lite substratum, then install theme, reboot, enable.
As you said, you are using Substratum first time so obviously, there should lack of knowledge because there are many changes after Android 9 but Substratum never got updated after that so its partially compatible with our latest software devices.
But lack of knowledge, thats fine. Its just not you only. But blaming someone or someone's work just because you are not having much knowledge its wrong.
For your extra knowledge- As of today, Lite version is more stable than the normal Substratum.
As in a first try when you installed theme, its get installed but incompletely as you have mentioned above and also we can see screenshots.
So them was compatible, but what I can guess is when you changed to lite one, you messed it by mistake and results are in your hand.

Any substratum theme is an Apk file
Substratum itself is an Apk file
Any android app is an Apk file
Substratum do install its Magisk Module and save overlays there that works systemlessly as Magisk works like that.
For an example, check screenshots below, this module is created by Substratum Lite.
Other OnePlus 6/7/8/9 Pro/Non-Pro users already using this theme without any issues.
I am responding very softly as I always do as I have patience obviuosly. Dont take my any word hard but please its already clear about your lack of knowledge about Substratum but its not a bad thing at all, its usual thing with many users including me in many cases. But not accepting the truth again and again is wrong.
And check first post again, instructions already given.
Yes You cleared all your posts. Thats really nice of you. Thanks.

It's cool, don't worry about the data, my important stuff is safe on cloud sync, it's just banking apps I need to set up again so will need to call them and work 2FA.
My knowledge with substratum is patchy.
In the past I've installed the app, obtained a theme from the play store and then installed overlays in substratum, then enabled and rebooted to finalize the changes.
Most themes worked but some didn't, there used to be a recovery from recovery (TWRP) but I wasn't at home so couldn't get it.
Also safe mode wouldn't load up as the phone would only say:
System has stopped working
Wait
Close
So I would not have been able to disable the module if that was the cause, that recovery method would have worked perhaps, however I needed my phone at the time so had to commit to wiping system, again my fault.
As I said before my OOS was stock, 11.0.10.10BA
One mod: center clock that alters OPSystemUI.apk
Could have been that perhaps, but nothing else was installed.
Your one did indeed work, it was just the colours on settings that was different.
I've used this opportunity to jump back to a custom ROM, I only came back to OOS so I could pull the boot image and patch it for my guide, so people can use them, has helped a good few people out.
[Mod Edit] (Derogatory comment removed) I posted my findings, not sure what else I could have done differently?
Anyway, my phone's nicely themed now so I'm all good.
Appreciate your work btw, it does look nice.
PS: maybe advise to use the lite version of substratum.
Disable any mods before installation
Might make the difference.

Cool. But always remember to take these conversations to PM directly to the same person that is involved and avoid spamming in any thread.
And for any work/theme/mod you must always ask support/complain/feedback to that mod/theme thread or any group created by the same developer(s) of that theme/mod if that exists. Also avoid compaining to any other person, instead do ask support in that theme/mod thread
Now lets stop this topic

[Thread Cleaned] All that negative energy... On a Sunday no less! Let's just assume there was some steam that needed to be vented and let's hope the frustrations are behind us now. Remember that we're still all just people that share a passion for tech. And with such passion there inevitably comes a passionate discussion from time to time. It happens. I do heartily invite the involved parties to get in touch with one another to talk this out if needed. Just don't let it linger in here and please keep it polite and respectful.

LG v60 T-Mobile preventing updates

Hello! I have an T-mobile version of LG v60. It is permanently unlocked and it has the V600TM20n update. I tried researching on internet about the LG V60 variant, and I couldn't find much information.
Can somebody tell me:
If it is possible to prevent the updates from applying during midnight?
If Android 11 version is still 'root-able'?
If not, is still possible to revert to an older version of Android without losing carrier unlocked status?
My main concern is that these updates will disable my ability to root the phone. Thanks.
Your carrier can disable OTA updates from their end.
Try this.
Or use a package disabler to do it or an adb edit.
Do Not update to 12, it's fubar.
9 or 10 are likely better and more functional.

CPU cycle sucking scoped storage is fully active in 11. Many have reported issues after upgrading to 12 across many unrelated devices. Issues with 3rd party apps including manufacturer system apps seem to be common. Even Pixels aren't exempt
If your phone is running well on Pie or 10 you have very little to gain and a lot to lose in terms of usability and functionality in exchange for questionable "improvements".

You need to disable the update app. Not sure what it's called on LG's.
You can use adb edit or Package Disabler Pro for other devices. PM me if you want that website, it's [email protected]

I read that if you use adb to remove the FOTA system app (T-Mobile), it will prevent Android updating. If this is true, can I still receive security patches? Are security patches updated separately?
I don't think that works as the updates will be overided by google play services which youll need root so it automatically stops updates for you.
Android 12 was a performance benefit of both android 10 and android 11 of the V60. android 11 on the v60 was smooth but had Vulkan issues, and performance was not great as it suffered lag and slowdowns when gaming. On antutu V8.4.5 android 10 got 559,000 overall score, android 11 got 536,000 overall score, and android 12 got 574,000 overall score. So I would recomend A12 update.

You disable the OTA update app by using a package disabler or adb edit. No root needed to end it's reign of tyranny.

The update app is a dependency of Google play Services probably. It likely has the permissions to turn on Google play Services too.
The update app acts like a rootkit
You need to find the update app(s) and permanently disable them. It may take some work but should be doable. Lol, LG can't be worse than Samsung in this regard.
It will have startup at boot permissions.
You can find it with this:

Ah I see, Thank You
I recently got a LM-V600TM on Android 11 and am trying to do my damndest to prevent 12. I don't care about benchmark performance because I don't do mobile gaming. I just don't want to give up control over my phone when LG has a history of putting out half-assed Android updates. It also wasn't cool that 12 removed manual 8K video recording. While it doesn't appear that they broke anything like how Oreo crippled various mods on the V20, I'm not okay with updates that introduce issues and remove features.
Here are the following things I've done so far on my V60:
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.lge.android.atservice
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.lge.gdec.client
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.lge.lgfota.permission
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.lge.pickme

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.lge.appbox.installer
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.lge.updatecenter

Some additional info on what apps to disable and what behavior to look out for is here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/LGV60/comments/rqwwlo/_/hqd9kjk
All of the above should effectively disable OTA updates, but Google Play services will still find a way to annoy the hell out of you every two days. The following system lightbox dialog supposedly comes from Google Play services:
----------
Install update to keep device running smoothly
Your system is [X] days out of date.
[Link] Learn more
[Option] Install Now
[Option] Remind me later
----------
I was frustrated to discover it was possible to get almost all the way there without rooting only to find that removing the dialog is the part that requires root.
Source: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/how-do-i-stop-update-notices.4171467/post-84529465
The only thing I really needed root for in recent years was system-wide ad blocking, and I have that taken care of now with Blokada 5 and an archive of the last version of Vanced, but it looks like I'll get sucked back into the rooting endeavor at least one more time just to get rid of this system update dialog.
Rooting phones felt kind of cool years ago when it was a novel thing to do and doing so actually opened up lots of customization options. Now it just feels like a chore.
To follow-up my own post:
Because there is currently no T-Mobile Android 12 KDZ (only US Cellular and unlocked Canada) for the V600TM and upgrading to 12 doesn't trip some kind of anti-rollback mechanism like firmware updates did on previous LG phones, I considered letting 12 install itself. The system lightbox nag dialog was too annoying for me.
After reviewing the changes in the LG Android 12 package, I had concluded that it wasn't crippling to the V60 other than dropping the manual 8K recording, which I'm not a fan of removing, but I also don't use. I figured that I have a T-Mobile Android 11 20n KDZ that I could always use for rooting later. However, once I decided to let the 12 update proceed, it kept erroring out and failing no matter what I did.
I tried one last time to root the phone on Android 11 20n and finally succeeded on Windows 10. Previously, QFIL failed on port comms on both of my Windows 7 machines. Anyway, I'm glad this nightmare is done. Just for how bad the initial rooting experience was on this phone, I'm not particularly pleased with it at the moment. Maybe it will slowly win me over if I never get that damn nag screen again after following the instructions in this link:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/how-do-i-stop-update-notices.4171467/post-84529465
I'm beginning to realize that I'm probably not going to keep this phone for very long compared to my two V20s. I've used the V20 for nearly 5 years now. I might get 2-3 out of this V60 before I go with a used Sony Xperia 1 IV or a future Xperia 5 if it ever gets good T-Mobile 5G band support. I want something without carrier bloat, has good community support (which this phone has virtually none), and is far more friendly to bootloader unlocking and rooting, but doesn't strip away the ports and external storage like just about every damn phone out there does now.
In case anyone would find it helpful, to revert the disabled app changes I made to my V60 in the previous post, I used the following command for all 7 of the apps I had uninstalled for user 0:
adb shell cmd package install-existing <package_name>

BACKUP / RESTORE
Android backups are being discontinued and fully replaced by Google Drive backups. Google drive backups cannot be downloaded, and there is a 25 MB per-app limit. You need a network sniffer to log upload traffic to capture these. The warning was there since the SDK of Android 10 “Queen Cake”, however, backups themselves weren’t changed. In Android 12 “Snow Cone”, apps with Snow Cone’s API level with backup flag set to true and a Snow Cone device will back up to (dumb) Google Drive instead.

@engcristiano me too man.
Honestly, what are the chances this 'ever' happens? I would be so pleased, as long as it happens 'some' time. Would love to hear your input.
If anyone else has any input on this, please share.
Lastly, to the OP, this is a great tool. Thank you

debloat is reversable because it only removes the apps for the user /0 not delete them fully, but even so use with caution, it is pretty stable now though but if you do find a bug i will offer support and fix it straight away
as an old tech geek, I thank you so much!

I'd like to reverse the debloat if possible, some of the core Samsung functions aren't working and didn't realize that it uninstalls Google apps too. Thanks!
