I'll join the effort. Mine has a model number XT2015 - 2 and Build No. PMDS29.70-81-5.
I am pretty new at this, but I am willing to learn and have some basics covered already (Rooted several devices in the past) I know there's no TWRP yet for this model, so I would like to contribute creating a stable version for our Moto G8 Play devices, the question is - Where do I start?

How soon can we expect an Android 6.x or an 7.x rom for Xiaomi Mi Pad 1?

As of 10th November 2016, Xiaomi has released the kernel sources for Xiaomi Mi Pad 1 to the masses. How soon can we expect someone to pick this device up and give us some sweet custom ROMs for the device?
I would really like to see ROM devs like Official CM team or Official Mokee team or other teams like them to pick this device up and free use from the bonds of Kitkat oppression.
I also wouldn't mind seeing a functional build of MIUI 8 on top of Android 6.0.1 for Mi Pad 1.
I'll start to work on it pretty soon but I will need time since this is my first rom developpement, if anyone wants to join :
Device Tree (from Nexus 9) : https://github.com/vickdu31/android_device_xioami_mocha
Kernel Tree (from Xiaomi KK) : https://github.com/vickdu31/android_kernel_xiaomi_mocha
Vendor Tree (old Xiaomi KK) : https://github.com/vickdu31/android_vendor_xiaomi_mocha

The Nexus 9 has 64 bit K1 dual core 'denver' processor
Mipad has 32 bit quad core k1 processor
Nvidia Shield has a variant with 32 bit quad core k1 processor as well.
Would it be easier for you if you use the shield's device tree instead ?
Sure, didnt notice that.. Anyway i dont have much time now and if im alone i dont know if its ever gonna happend but if i keep everything in a clean way then its easy for more people to join. I'll change and anamyse device tree and see
Hello, please also take a look at the following GitHub repositories:
vartom/android_device_xiaomi_mocha
vartom/android_vendor_Xiaomi_mocha
There's a mostly working CM11 build from this developer, so I think these repos may be useful.

Oh! Nice man. Thanks in advance. By the way, What should we look forward to ? A Marshmallow build? Or A Nougat Build ? Or a KitKat Build ?
Whatever it is, best of luck man. We will be looking forward to your good work.Best wishes for your success. A lot of hope will be riding on you.
I don't have time now so I will see how we should proceed. The point would be to gather devs in a group or something

Do we have any developments after the kernel source release for MI PAD

Its been more than a month since the kernel source for MIPAD has been released.Have been closely following xda and MIUI forums ,but haven't seen any development work being posted in any of them.
Do we have development work going on for MI PAD??
Last i heard was there was some issue with vendor blob , which was preventing an android upgrade.
Has that problem been solved?also i heard that for many devices emulation or wrapping is used when vendor blobs are not available...
Please let us know for development work so that we can also be able to contribute for the betterment of our device

I understand that,I am trying to develop from my side as well.
Highwaystar_ru has done great work in implementing CM 12.1 for mipad. Its in the beta mode but usable, its has some issues such as micro lags, camera,No sounds in certain apps such as go to meetings,Skype etc.
Just wish someone works on the kernel from source as the current CM 12.1 uses stock smoke kernel

Port Rom from MT6797 Devices to Redmi Note 4 ?

Hi guys,
is there any solution to port a rom from this Devices ?
w*ww.kimovil.com/de/liste-smartphones-nach-prozessor/mediatek-helio-x20-mt6797
the Meizu MX6 have the same SOC + Camera and Antutu Score of 98.578
We need Xiaomi to release their source code to create ROMs that work properly.
No way to recompile and reverse engineering ?

The developer of cm14.1 for our device is already working on that. As for porting roms like Huawei ROM, other ROM it depends on whether people are interested or not. It is possible by using the patchrom method. Juts depends on whether people are interested are not. For example, there are people interested in maiing cm14.1 and now we do have an alpha build
Just let the people take their time. this is still a relatively new device.

because I have owned 3 xiaomi devices. Trust me. Like I said, it depends on whether people (developers) are interested or not.
as for cm14.1 update, we will never know.
hi . porting roms mt6797 to our device is it same as porting MT67XX To MT67XX, the way is easy there are many guides on net and videos, because Redmi Note 4 MTK haven't devellopent like SnapDragon version.

Android Oreo for mi pad?

I'm not sure that will mi pad get android Oreo unofficial though it's capable of running smoothly and google has already given the source code so let's hope to get it on our beast. Support this thread and hopefully the developers would read and help us. ?
Like your enthusiasm. But first let us get a proper build of Android N. I am sure once we get everything going for N, developers will shift their attention to O as I believe our hardware is plenty capable to run the OS.
I don't think android n stable?
The UI of android n is glitchy and some laggyness is there. ?

What made you make this thread? I'm seriously wondering what the logic behind these type of threads are.

lol the android N in our tab is still on beta stage, don't hope for an android O.
this kind of thread shouldn't make at first place though
Developers are working with shield kernel once that is finished you can hope for Oreo

Kernel Source Code for Mi Note 10 is now officially available

I spent quite some time on it but sadly the kernel source is just one tiny bit of the recipe.
You need a device AND vendor tree as well, and as far as I can tell you just can't rip them out of a device or anything. They just magically "appear" online. Ie.: I think someone leaks them... I don't know. I tried to talk with devs, tried various forums and communities but no dice. Wish I had a solution, I am afraid the next Android 10 update won't be too good for this device either - other people who received the Android 10 updates for Xiaomi are already complaining.

So did you try compiling a custom Kernel? Also we could, instead of using the device Tree, try to Port PHHusons GSI to our device. i already started with that, trying to create overlay and so on. Alot of thinks are already working with that LOS build.
So my idea is to debloat a GSi ( so only things needed for Mi Note 10 are included) and then also using a custom kernel
