My experience with the Lenovo z5 pro GT - Lenovo Z5 Pro GT Guides, News, & Discussion

I ordered the Z5 Pro GT from AliExpress. It was really cheap. It took over a month to get here. After saying it was stuck in Heathrow for almost 15 days, it turned up. Oh, it was also apparently £43 ( according to customs note). I bought the 128GB model but was sent the 256 for free.
I turned it on and the first thing it says was the bootloader was unlocked.
So there was no updates and it had a half cooked global rom.
I wanted the updates so I downloaded the CN rom and flashed it appropriately. Locked the bootloader.
I immediately updated it to zui 11... However testing it, it was not a play certified device. Hmmm. Not good., But for what ever reason it now had band 20. !?!?!?!
I wanted to unlock the bootloader but couldn't manage to work out how.
Finally worked out (from a Russian site) leave the Sim in for a few hours then apply from the zui bootloader unlock site.
Unlocked it used twrp and magisk. But no updates.
(I have heard if you load 10.5 and don't search for updates it will prompt you and you can do it even if unlocked)
I relocked the bootloader
I flashed 10.5 CN zui back on and it was play certified. Works a treat. Don't really want to update unless I know it is certified. It's only a fairly new update. So hopefully Google will certify it soon.
Let me know if you have one or would like to know how to do something.
Great phone. Fast - decent pics from the camera and does most of what I need.
It has nfc and works with google pay, but needs zui 11 to have band 20... Still don't understand that.
Bluetooth works well and no dropouts. I don't play games on it but it's quick.
Screen fingerprint reader works well... Except if you have a standard glass screen protector.
Worth the price ... Very much so.

Hey! Same here, was sent an upgraded version of what I paid for and was lucky enough to dodge customs.
Same crap global rom that scored under 300k on Antutu. Flashed the official straight away and updated to which ZUI 11 scores an amazing 430k !
Couldn't be happier but you got me wondering.. To what extent should we be worried about not being Play certified on ZUI11 ? Google Play is working as it should so far, it even auto updates the apps.
Did Google Pay work for you on ZUI11 ?
I intend to make it my main phone soon but would need google pay to work.

I have got Google pay working on zui 11.
I spent a few hours unlocking the boot loader, loading magisk, rooting and spoofing the play certification through. It's a bit of a faff but you can get it to work. Google play certification now thinks I have a mi mix3. LOADING ALLLLLLL MY APPS again was annoying but you have to do what you have to do. If it is your daily and you don't mind messing with build info magisk etc, you can get it up and running.

Try that. It is fairly easy if you have magisk installed. Not SU. After I followed that (Google translated from Russian ) Google pay, Netflix and everything else worked fine.
You might have to Google a couple of the files in the post but if you type the name exactly as it is then you will find them quickly.
Hope that helps.

You said you ran into problems with the bootloader.. I'm experiencing some too. It says I'm putting down the wrong IMEI1.
Was this the same thing that happened to you ? is it just a matter of leaving the sim in for a few hours?

Yes. Put your sim in. Load your apn for your service provider to get internet. Turn off WiFi. I left mine overnight and it worked.

Right now I'm on ZUI 11, unlocked bootloader, magisk root and certified.
Order in which I've done it
1- clean stock install of zui 10
2- locked bootloader
3- update to zui11
4- unlocked bootloader
5- twrp and magisk
6- certification
7- google play
now for some reason I can't install Netflix from the google play store, it says my device is not compatible. Did you install netflix before updating to zui11 ?
Play store just closes by itself when it feels like, does the same happen to you?

It sounds like it hasn't certified the device.
Have you followed the steps for spoofing the ID?
Once you update to 11 it's no longer certified
Go to magisk
Safetynet check
Cts profile true
Basicintegrity true
If it says that, clear cache and data from the play store, and make sure that it's hidden under magisk hide... Also hide Google play services.
You should see Netflix when look for it now.

Andoid 4.4.2, BT4.0 LE, IP67, better clone than Omate?

I just recently got my first smart watch which is newly released in August by a Shenzhen company. Then started digging around in the web to learn and search SW for this watch as it is shipped with almost nothing but the HW. Fortunately I get here and learned a lot, also discovered that my watch has almost same HW as Omate and other clones in the market, the only difference is Andoid 4.4.2 system, bluetooth 4.0 LE and IP67 waterproof they advertized. Once people from that company also said Omate is their ODM product and now this is their 2nd generation with its own brand. I may not believe it 100% but given so many Omate clones in the market, it is no surprise at least they have relations.
Their customer service is even poorer than Omate, as they are busy attending shows etc and give vague promise of ongoing SW development, I can't wait but to seek help from forums.
So my help needed is: if there is any ROOT method available for this, is existing Omate root method working?
Till now I didn't really enjoyed any 4.4.2 system advantage over 4.2. Maybe I just don't know enough or maybe it is just a fake information in system settings?
Waterproof wise it does equipped with weird star type screw so that no one can open the back without special tool. that may be an indication of its IP67 capability? Maybe, but I do see report of water damage report and it could be water came in from the sim card slot because of not tightened screw or the poor quality water seal rubber.
Another minor improvement may be he charging cable, it is a magnetic head stick to the back of the watch, not as stable as Omate's little case but more convenient.
For anybody interested: please search unova on aliexpress.com sorry I am too new and can't publish the link

Update:
Kernel version: 3.4.67
Baseband version: MOLY.WR8.W1315.MD.WG.MP.V43.2014/08/12 09:45
the backup ROM link and tool download link are invalid or not accessible for me. I tried to backup the ROM by following the link on chinaphonearena.com/forum/Thread-MTK6592-MTK6582-MTK6589-MTK6577-MTK6575-MTK6572-ADB-PDAnet-VCOM-Drivers but met problem.
I downloaded PDAnet_4150.exe to install ADB driver on my win7 64, it prompts: an existing andoid USB driver exists, and I selected yes to reinstall it, then choose other type device, turn on the USB debug mode, then connect the watch, the installer shows: installing USB driver success, setting up network driver success, but popped up the box saying installer fail to open device, when I click ok, uninstalling PDAnet starts. i read another post that actually when ADB driver is installed, PDAnet installation is not needed. so I opened mtkdroidtools_253, the connection is in blue rather than in green. phone information can be displayed successfully, but it can't be ROOTed, so not able to backup the ROM. The above backup ROM tutorial link in chinaphonearena also said I need a ROOTed phone to backup, so I am stuck.
Run towelroot. Send me your e-mail address.

Also, try this All Tools:

GPS is pretty good, better than my mobile phone.
How to test BTLE?
Almost managed to dump the ROM, but failed in the last step and need to debug again. The hardest part is how I can open the back to disconnect the battery, the watch seems to be locked now. But the strange screw.........
Picture of the screw?
Okay guys, thanks to his awesome patience I have a full backup of the KitKat image.
It's not something I'd want people to try and flash. Right now let me test it and go through the files.
And no, it's not booting.

have you seen this:

Daniel says it's totally possible
Yes, I'll be trying to do what I can to make a bootable kernel/bootloader.
So if we can make this kernel boot and take a official KK image (Like the one in the General topic from the exact same PCB)
then KK is possible? Right?
drooling at KK, improved battery and lower ram usage....

Fate Grand Order Question? Mido

Lol as the title say this little post is about the recently released game called fate grand order or AKA "Fate/GO".
The thing is that I had to go completely stock to being able to play, I didn't went with official miui though, I'm using .eu but I just don't like it lol.
Even tho battery is great (with velvet) I miss the extra features and customisation of ROMs like RR etc.
Is there anyone here playing? And If so, did you was able to play outside MIUI? I tried several roms but I might have missed something. This game has the most annoying security I have ever seen before.
I know I probably won't get an answer but I had to try, I hope they are some fellas out there playing the game using their mido ;D

Yes is possible, they added support for MIUI not to long ago in jap version.
I guess I have no option other than multiroms but since MIUI doesn't support f2fs I gotta deal with ext4 sigh...

did you try using magisk hide?
is it a security/root issue?
edit;
i'll test out on RR-Rom + magisk hide for you fam

it wont work on custom roms at all + other phones cant run it on custom roms as well
rooted or non rooted. They really stepped up their security man
update:

Yea i tried with magisk 12 and 13 magisk hide none worked, the game security goes beyond that.
You got it to run in CM13? That would be surprising... as far as i know when you open the game it not only looks for root, but also looks for CM and LineageOS system files.
That's why i had to use MIUI which got official support by the game ( you couldn't play before either due to the dual app feature?) anyways.. i more less managed to set myself comfortable using miui, I installed SuperSu to being able to use Titanium, restore my apps then also blocked ads and changed the DPI modifiying the build.prop and once i was done with that i unrooted and went back to twrp and restored the boot.img to erase any trace of root.
(nevertheless i still hate MIUI)
PD: Thanks for the link, it's Interesting and i didn't know it was actually possible

I am running Fate GO on my phone running Resurrection Remix. And the solution is simple. You'll just have to flash the zip provided in this thread to your phone after doing a full unroot. RR is based on LineageOS so it worked. Not sure if it will work on other ROMs.

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or just being a noob. Ive been trying to make some changes for a bit now, but none of my changes are being kept.
I have downloaded the recovery ROM from Ulefone, mounted the system.img and vendor.img files and made a few changes, like removing some apps that don't work or I don't need. I tried modifying the apns-conf.xml as Android 8.1 has locked the APN settings (everything is greyed out and no + options). I have unpacked the boot.img and recovery.img and changed a value allowing root through ADB. Repacked everything and flashed using the supplied software and when the phone boots back up... Absolutely none of my changes are recognized. The Apps that I deleted are still there, the APNS-CONF.XML is unchanged, I am not able to root into ADB as it says its not available.
The first time it happened, I thought maybe I flashed the device using the wrong folder.
I don't know, Maybe I'm missing something totally obvious to someone more experienced. I only require root, as the APN settings are wrong and I am unable to edit them the conventional way. In order to send MMS messages, I have to select the 3G profile APN and switch force a connection to 3G because the MMS was never configured on the 4G APN Profile.
any update?
Root Armor 3
Hi there
Could you please tell me how you rooted Armor 3 ? I have that phone and struggling to root it because TWRP puts a password when I boot into recovery and not able to see any of the files stored on the internal memory.
Do NOT update to 20190314 - touch screen stops responding randomly.
If you did - write to Ulefone support and give them both IMEI numbers - they will enable newer OTA version for you with touchscreen issue fixed.

The update actually says it fixes that. Is it bugged? I'm holding off for now.

Hello,
I have the Armor 6 phone and would like to enable the hotspot function, my carrier is Sprint. In the past, I have had all Samsung devices and have rooted them using the information provided on this form, however, I am unable to find any root for the Armor 6. I have not yet switched from my Note 8 to the Armor 6 because I have been unable to confirm that the hotspot feature will work.
Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

20190314 fixed noise reduction problem where sound was cut off almost completely (they simply removed this useless feature) but introduced bugged touchscreen that freeze randomly.
20190329 fixes touchscreen issue. I can confirm that it works - in a week not a single touchscreen freeze.

HotSpot works perfectly without root. Fast and stable on this phone.

I can also confirm hotspot works without root just fine. I had an issue where my update service was being blocked by my ISP it seemed and I had to use other Internet in order to see the new update or get it but I've had no issues on the 329 one.
ROOT Armor 6
I have an urgent need to Root an Armor 6.
What files do I need and has anyone done this successfully? And painlessly? LOL
Thank you!

In meantime there is release on Ulefone site STOCK ROM 6E which has Mediatek Helio P70 with Android Pie 4 gb ram/64gb ..Maybe somebody can help to port this stock rom to the Armor 6 with Mediatek Helio P60 and Android Oreo 8.1 6gb ram/128gb, because Ulefone have no intention to upgrade Armor 6 with Android Pie.
Any advice will be appreciated...

Best rom for stability and most vanilla android experience

For ages I have tried to avoid rooting my phone, mainly due to Google Pay. But with the constant issues and also now that I've just purchased bPay for my watch anyway, I no longer need Google Pay.
Even though my phone is not rooted, most apps thought it was.. so even the fixes only worked so far.. so screw it. haha.
I would like to root my phone and try and make my Xiaomi as close to vanilla Android as possible. What roms would people suggest?
Is the Xiaomi a wise phone to modify? Will I loose any features (camera etc)?
I have only really ever used OnePlus One devices, and other phones I have always relied on Google Pay access, so its been awhile since I rooted a phone and I have a feeling things may have changed a fair bit.. maybe even become more simple?
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
My device; Mi 8 128GB, chinese import. Arrived with unlocked bootloader and global rom.. somehow.. even though global wasnt available at the time.. have since has xiaomi.eu rom, most recent on the device. But im finding its waaay to buggy and im very eager to get rid of this.
try pixel experience
stock experience like the pixel 3 xl
almost the same camera if not better
great battery life stable and way smoother than miui 10
I was In a similar predicament
I went for havoc and find its fantastic
Similar to pixel experience but with more added features
Has gcam implemented already

pixel experience rom has everything that a pixel phone has including the amazing gcam
Use syberia! aosp based like all but best battery so far
You can try pixel experience, I'm using it for a while now and never thought of changing to another rom. This will be my permanent rom I guess. Pixel3ROM is also nice, but it's just a port so the dev heavily refuses to add compatibility features like IR camera support for face unlock etc. So main features of the device won't work kn that one.
LineageOS is just another option, but it feels so empty compared to Pixel Experience. Yes, it can be customized but it'll never get the capabilities of Pixel Experience, due to official Rom policies of LOS.
And another thing, my device is rooted and I'm using PE, and Google Pay is working.

About camera, it hss a Google Camera port that I can't really remember the name of dev, and you can flash the miui camera port from Magisk if you need that either.
If you have any questions about this rom, I'd love to answer them, I can consider myself as an experienced user of it I guess. I used miui for 2 weeks thanks to bootloader unlock timer, and believe me, when you switch, you will feel like tons of weight just pulled out of your shoulders.
Thanks everyone this is all really helpful to know. Sounds like Pixel Experience is the one to try first.

This is really handy to know. I was thinking today that maybe rooting etc my phone myself properly would give me better control over getting that set up to work properly.
One more thing, just checking over the instructions and a little lost on some bits;
Flash Instructions
1. Download ROM zip.
2 . Advanced Wipe: System, Data, Cache and Dalvik/cache - Already have TWRP from installing Xiaomi.eu rom.
3. Flash latest MIUI or Xiaomi.eu beta. - This step confuses me.. if I already have a xiaomi.eu rom installed, I presume I would skip this?
4. Flash Pixel Experience.
5. Flash Dm-verity and reboot into TWRP (Only if you're coming from MIUI stock. Skip that if you're coming from another custom ROM) - Guessing again, I would skip this as I am already on TWRP? Unsure what dm-verity is..
6. Advanced Wipe: Data
7. Reboot & enjoy.
Some background on the current config phone wise. Imported a Mi 8 before it was released globally, nor even a date was released at that point. The phone arrived with global rom I believe.. the bootloader was already unlocked however and it was in English, so I am unsure how they had the global rom on it.. unless was the chinese one in English? Eitherway. I just followed the usual guide to flashing Xiaomi.eu on the phone. TWRP was already on it, but it is a chinese version, in english, but with chinese text on the loading screen.. unsure if normal?
Thanks again!

You can't skip the 3rd step since you're wiping the system partition, vendor and/or firmware files will be gone, which are not included with the rom.
At 5th, https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/universal-dm-verity-forceencrypt-t3817389 After flashing this, reboot to recovery in order to do advanced wipe. Just follow the steps, don't be lazy!
Not sure about your phone, but there are a high chance of being a Chinese variant of your phone, check the rear glass for CE certificate logo, if there are any chinese text, your phone is a chinese variant. In this situation, be careful to not lock your bootloader.

When I got the phone there was a sticker on the back which was in Chinese, all the packaging was too. The text printed on the phones actual case is in English however.
Update: All done and all was a success. Thanks everyone!
Tried Pixel Experience - battery drain was so extreme had to flash another rom..
So now trying Havoc.. way too many bugs, no sound on alarms, phone stops responding to touch.. ergh. Battery is good though.. haha.
Looking like there may not be any rom which isnt free of bugs or battery drain on the Mi 8..
Sadly Google Pay, with Magisk and hide, does not work on any rom. Altho I managed to get another banking app to work by using Magisk hide ironically.

+1 that. Everything works perfect for me on AOSIP and I've been using it as my daily driver for a week now.
I just replaced the default phone, contact and messaging apps with the Google ones with App systemizer and magisk, and replaced the stock cam with latest Gcam.
Recommend this rom :good:

Oppo bringing Android 11 beta to the Find x2

https://www.xda-developers.com/oppo-find-x2-find-x2-pro-android-11-beta/
I wonder if this means it will be an AOSP version? Maybe something developers can build on.
Yep....Just read this on GSMArena. Awesome news, usually it's our brothers over at OnePlus that get it first, it's cool to see this.
Wow its cool. Wait for china version.
Don't get close to it for the moment... apparently it messes a lot of things on the OP8P .. so i wouldn't install a beta1 on a phone they already have battery, and camera issues.

seems to be here...
I'm tempted to install it just to see the improvements, as i know i can safely rollback to ColorOS 7 if it's daily unusable
I downloaded and flashed. Somehow it shows that it's still android 10. I'm trying to find out what's wrong.
Going to try flash again n see.
This update wiped your internal memory like Oppo said it would ?
I'm gonna flash it this afternoon and will post a feedback about what's working or not as soon as i can.

How did you go, same deal with me
Just rolled back to android Q, i have some apps which are not yet compatible with Android 11. Plus, there's a bug with the round left and right corner, the keybord and the touch (back, home and apps) are superposing each others which is really annoying when you try to write something on the keyboard...
I will try later when it will be fixed. Otherwise the system seemed really smooth and nice visually.
Just realised that my sim card is not detected by the phone since i rollback to the CPH2025PU version... My Find X2 Pro is orginally EU Version... anyone kows how to fix that ?

Well on Android 11, my SimCard is detected, but when i rollback on android Q, it's not detected, i did the swith two times and same thing. So for me it can be fixed.
And i guess we're going to be a lot to ****ed up our devices then... Starting with some no-chinses developers who will flash android 11 beta 11 and rollback and will get the same issue....
