Shadow Screen Effect in MIUI 11.05 - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

The recently open apps or any app with light grey or black background show in the other app, Like it I open chrome of some times then I close chrome now I'm in now youtube app I can find everything in YouTube app it the screen color turn into grey or I try to find it I can notice it. After 10-15 min it disappears. There is no screen bleeding issue on my phone. I can literally see my WhatsApp in the background while going through the play store.
I can't attach a screenshot because the shadow effect is not visible in the screenshot. any screen with dark color works fine.
miui 11.05 the problem appears. After Sometime the problem is gone... I gave my poco to the service center after he flashed it the problem is coming. I am not sure if they changed my screen because it was working fine for miui 10 as well as with Miui 11 also.
I raised a complaint in Mi they say they need to change the screen and it will cost around INR 7000(100$). That's quite a lot.
If anyone has a solution to this problem then please help me in that. :crying:

You are not the only one my friend.
Just around the past 20 days I've seen what resembles "Screen Burn In". The image of the previous app remains as a "ghost" in the background. This is especially visible if you play a game like PUBG or CoD Mobile and then you switch to an app which has white background. Normally this issue is seen only on OLED but oddly enough it's showing on Poco which is LCD.
Thankfully though, the ghosting effect disappears after a while. If it does not disappear, you can use any app that can cycle the RGB colors. It is not a permanent fix.
Poco cut corners especially with the display. Issues from rejected touch to ghost touch to now this image retention problem.

i didn't have that problem it just starts occurring after i gave it to the service center

I have same issue.. specifically after high brightness...

That's a hardware issue and should have been replaced while in warranty. I have Pocophone F1 for over a year now (bought November 2018) but didn't have any issue. My usage is splitscreen with youtube at the top and any app at the bottom, screen is ON most of the time during my 8 hrs of work time with max continuous screen ON of 4 to 6 hours with brightness level averaging at around 60% using Auto. NO ghosting, image retention that happened on mine. Your IPS display is probably defective.

S9+ Screen Distortion Issue while Scrolling PDF in Night Mode

Hi guys, I am having a problem with my Galaxy S9 Plus. When I open a PDF in Night mode, while scrolling there is some deformation on the screen - in the video (link shared below), there is a grey frame which deforms and 'shrinks' while scrolling up and down in the PDF.
I've explained the issue properly in the video (jump to 0:27 in the video) whose link is given below. Kindly help me out in solving this issue as soon as possible and please check if this issue affects your device or not. Thanks.

Mine is the same; I think it's normal AMOLED behavior: https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-2-xl/help/lagging-black-pixels-scrolling-dim-t3696188
My guess is that it takes longer for a completely black pixel to turn on than for lit pixels to turn off or change their brightness.

And I don't need to 'dim' the lights to reproduce the issue, as it is mentioned in the link you've shown. It feels really strange and unexpected from an expensive device like the S9+.
EDIT: To be more precise, the grey frame deforms and SHRINKS in size while scrolling.

Every Samsung Phone with Amoled screen has the this same issue! Nothing new!

Contrast and screen brightness changed in direct sunlight

Hey, guys! I observed today that something funky was happening with the contrast and colors on my Pocophone screen. The black/dark background in apps like Youtube and XDA, both with dark themes and black or dark grey backgrounds, was getting light grey. Also, the contrast of the text seemed to change. These things happen when the top of the phone enters in direct contact with sunlight. If I cover the sensor with my finger, the screen gets back to normal. It appears to me to be an option to make text and content more visible in direct sunlight. Have you observed the same thing on your phones. What's your opinion? I'm using miui 10 Global Beta. Thanks

I noticed too. Seems a display feature
Neither this is bug nor faulty screen. That's because of Auto Contrast in display setting. Anyways you can change it.
yep, it's a feature... use standard contrast
Happens even when set to standard contrast. Cant seem to be able to fix it!
Set it to increased contrast, it solved the issue for me

Miui 10.2.2.0 OTA review

So i just got the official update today and i just updated my poco f1 to 10.2.2.0 and here's my short review. Do read this if you wanna consider to update or not.
1. The new slow mo 960fps has flickering issues so its literally impossible to use. Or is it only me?
2. Theres a new option at the top screen "Cleaner - Security scan - Deep clean - Manage apps" in recent apps screen which imo, makes it look less minimalistic and ugly.
3. Battery? So far so good. Havent tested it in pubg yet or full day use yet so i cant give my full opinion yet. I'll update this after this 3 days.
4. Theres a new options in Notification & Status bar in settings>Show icons for incoming notifications. Which basically will show your notification icons on the left status bar then after 2 seconds it goes back to showing the clock which is dumb. Why dont they just give us the options to show notification icons permanently instead of clock.
5. The hide notch option in settings is still gone.
6. Theres a new Night mode in camera, but really, they dont work as well as pixel 3 night mode. When you take a pic using night mode in completely darkness, the pic result will be completely dark, unlike the pixel 3. So dont hope too much on the night mode on miui camera.
Thats all so far my review. Will udpate this thread if i found anything new. Please share your review as well.
Hello,
regarding (1): are you in sunlight or in artificial light?
960 fps is way higher than the power line frequency (50 Hz, 60 if you are in the US) so if you shot in artificial light you are basically getting flicker from your lamp.
In direct sunlight you should have no flickering at all.

Nope. Still no difference.
I also only notice flicker in artificial light. Moreover, the flicker is much less noticeable in the actual video than it is on the screen while recording.

Colour bleeding on screen when scrolling, particularly noticeable with black

Hi all, I've had my Mate 20 Pro for a few months now and I've slowly started noticing this weird sort of bleeding that seems to happen on my screen when I'm scrolling or switching between apps, particularly noticeable with apps that have dark mode on.
For an even longer time I've noticed that when on the official Reddit app (dark mode) for example and I'm scrolling down, the text becomes very fuzzy looking and the top of the text looks darker than the rest (or bottom if scrolling up).
Now the same thing is happening to images and app screenshot when switching between apps. It's become very noticeable now. Has anyone else experienced this?
I should note that this is on the lowest brightness settings. When I turn my brightness all the way up, I can't seem to notice it as much. My eye will only catch a split second of bleeding when scrolling past images.
I've attached a screen recording here gfycat . com/happyunhealthybeardedcollie but I'm unsure if you will able to see it or not. (I'm unable to post outside links or upload as I am a new user, apologies for the inconvenience).
Thanks.
Pretty sure it's OLED smearing

... and it is normal on this type of screens. Black color on these screens means powered off pixels. The time needed for these pixels to turn on or turn off during scrolling yields that smearing effect. This is the price we are paying for having screens that display black as it should be, i.e. total absolut black.

Ghosting issue ? ?

So is it pretty obvious , or does ghosting usually happens on low brightness on every AMOLED display or is this phone only suffering from this ?
(I saw ghosting while I was horizontally scrolling a black picture of a gray background).
Can anyone confirm this for me ? ( Not a huge issue though , it doesn't happen after the brightness is increased)
Try with this image in lowest brightness
Zoom in and move it left and right you will see a trail of weird color trailing the black circle.
its normal for amoled displays
almost all amoled screen leave purple trails when switching from pitch black to some other color pixels.. don't worry about it
Ya when scrolling in app drawer the icons looks like wobbling.
Yes this has been the case in my Realme XT as well. When you have black background in the app drawer and there is any app icon that is dark you see the icons changing their shape while we scroll.
Even in YouTube when you turn on the Dark Mode and there is any video that is pitch black you may see it leaving a trail when you scroll through the feed. This is more often when screen is in low brightness. Is this issue for all other phones with Amoled panel or only with Realme XT ?
Amoled panels basically has the lowest response time in any display technology format except "Ink Display". Every individual pixel lights up individually from switch off (black) to on (any color). Higher the brightness means higher the color spectrum shining into your eyes and thus it let you see no ghosting while at peak brightness. It's still happening but we dont usually see that clearly. Ghosting is very natural phenomenon of Amoled technology. Also these budget Amoled panel tends to big fan of burn out. So make sure you are using live wallpaper that changes or moves (stock one that comes with the ColorOS is good enough).
