how to control motor on my android board - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I inherited for work an android board that moves 2 motors, I have to basically move the motors trough software,
How can I find out how the current system is moving the motors?
I have rooted the OS to have more control, the system is running with a custom launcher, there is a button that activates google assistant after that is active, the order to move the motor can be given.
I need to find the way that the DC motor is being moved?, can I intercept the method?
is looking at the pins that go to the DC motor any help?
the board runs android and is like a normal tablet, it just moves 2 DC motors, I took it apart to see how the motors were moving?

- USB port?
- other technique?
I hope this is the correct place to ask for help?
Thanks

I have images of the board, but as I have less than 10 posts, cannot add linik

what techniques exist to send a signal to turn on a dc motor with android embedded system?
I mean the driver chips that turn the motor, the signal will come from somewhere right?
does it matter at the hardware level?
like addressing a pin or a GPIO in a raspi?
the software that moves the motor is an activity that interacts with the googlesearchbox
that could be other way to intercept the command turning the motor on/off.
Any ideas, please?

Dumb NFC question

I'm not a moron, but sometimes I feel like one. I'm excited to play with the phone's NFC capabilities and have already ordered some tags from tadsfordroids.com. While waiting for them to arrive, I downloaded a couple of different NFC apps from the play store that are supposed to read tags, but I can't seem to get any of them to work. I have a couple tags that I use from time to time, but when I try to get the phone to read them, nothing happens. Anyone have any suggestions?

My guess would be that they're written in a proprietary format for the respective device they're meant to control.

Which NFC Tags are you using and which apps?
NXP Tag writer, GoToTags, NFC TagInfo all should be able to read tags.

I've tried NFC Reader, NFC Retag and Taginfo in an attempt to read the two tags pictured above. I have not yet received my blank tags.

Maybe those tags dont have a NFC chip in them. They could be on some other wireless standard/radio frequency.

Fair enough. My blank tags should be here soon, then I'll have some to experiment with.
Thanks.
This is because you have to format the tags. You will need to start with the fresh ones you ordered and everything should be fine. When tags are first written to they have to be formatted first much like floppy disc of old

Is it possible to duplicate a nfc key, and have it on my phone? For example my community pool/gym key is an nfc fog like o.p.s grey key chain., and I'd like to be able to copy it onto my phone.
Check Me Out On The Google Play Store!!!

My reading indicates that this is not currently possible with our phone. The term that I saw used is "card emulation" or something similar. I was hoping to do the same thing, but I don't think it's doable at the moment.
Those little gray fobs may also be prox or iClass; two different technologies that can't be implemented with our phones. What you might be able to do is ask them to enroll your phone as a key - if all they're using is card serial number on an ISO14443 system, that will work.

[Q] Is there any Android-based GPS navigator?

Hi,
I have a GPS Navigator for my car, which is GARMIN, but I prefer the Google Navigator and Google Maps.
My question is clear, Is there an Android-based GPS Navigator device?
Or
Can I flash Android to my car's GARMIN device?
Is there a reason you don't want to use an Android phone to run the Google Maps/Nav application ?

My thoughts exactly. Why put Android onto a dedicated GPS device when you can have GPS within Android?

I have the same question, I've got 3 Garmins and they are all giving out. New Garmin devices have reduced functionality and the prices are higher! Its completely retarded.
I actually did try using an Android phone as a GPS, as I've got a spare Galaxy device with dock, audio out, and hard wired power adapter. There is no way a phone will do the heavy lifting that my Garmin devices do. Here is a list of requirements that you need in a GPS that Android on phones don't meet.
Visibility with a matte screen. For use in a standard car or a convertible, you have to have a matte screen for seeing while driving.
Power on automation and reliability. The device needs to power up on its own and be ready to go without any user interaction. One of my Garmin devices starts playing my MP3 playlist on boot up through AUX in my stock head unit.
Rock solid GPS reception. I've never had a phone be near as accurate as a GPS unit.
Offline maps
I used Sygic on my Galaxy and the processor ran at full speed to keep the app running smoothly, overheating it after a while. Partially due to being in the sunlight on my dashboard. The screen was practically unreadable due to glare.
Here are some features I would love to have if I had a Garmin form factor and screen with Android:
Wifi auto connect to my house when I part, for map updates and to rsync my music collection
Better bluetooth connect and phone call interrupt
AUX input for an analog trucker style radio, to communicate with other cars and trucks
Any ideas? Maybe a device that supports custom ROMs, Android or non-android?

Cant connect to Samsung Smart Led Lamp (GB9000), how to reset/bypass

Hi, i bought a Samsung smart led lamp, that connects using Bluetooth Low energy and MESH network to control color temperature and on/off with android app,( which haven't been updated since last year) it seems like Samsung suddenly killed this project, with no news about it, its a great and useful smart led lamp but the app is not working properly, i had problems pairing in first place as app kept crashing but after i got it to work there was no problems, until i updated my s5 from 5.0 to 5.1
after that the app loops between searching and re requesting connection to device, and every time it loops the lamp dims to show a connection attempt, but nothing else happens, so i cant get to menu, where is a option to re-initialize the lamp, ( which doesn't seem to working as well) there is no buttons on the lamp and no info about "manual reset", i tried a fresh install , a different phone and phone with kitkat, but all just crash and loop, also when i try to pair using Bluetooth menu it gives me a error: incorrect pin or password, but it doesn't ask for one, i tried the "forcestop bt share" etc but nothing seems to work, also no stop form Samsung and the email address they give in app page in play store is not in use.
also the log of crash points to : source method: FindViewUnlocked and stack trace starts with: "java.lang.illegalArgumentExpection:View=android.widget.FrameLayout{fe9f3fd V.E.... .....I. o,o-960,192} not attached to window manager"
So now for the real question: is there a way to manually reset the lamp or bypass the pin/password?
sorry if wrong subforum or etc

can't connect
Hello,
I can't connect to my samsung smart light neither.
Have you found a trick to reset or smtg ?
Tanks
Try to upgrade the version of the app on your mobile.
Hi. I got same problem. Got two lamps and cant connect to any of them.
Any solution to this?
any solution?
any solution?
I also get 2 bulb. Any solution?

Which are the improvements?

Still without seeing ''Never'' in Screen Suspension options. Battery taskbar icon still dissapearing after reboot.
BTW i'm understanding a bit better about mmo games issues. Until 3.0.202 when open a game it closes automatically. Now, when open an mmo (e.g. MU Origin) it works only the first 30 seconds after booting, then stops.

Something of the system actives after booting that can't let apps to work properly. Maybe some OS new features, maybe a new driver not present in version 2.x.x (i remember could play this game in the past).
You should improve the File Manager. Enable move to first/last folder when pressing home/end keys. Enable move to specific folder when pressing a letter key (you know, press ''R'' to move to the first folder of directory with initial letter ''R''). Enable backspace for back to previous folder.
Gaming Toolkit still not worthy. The only change i seen is that ''CANCEL'' & ''SAVE'' now marks ''Cancel'' & ''Save'' and thats all. D-Pad box can't resize to littler, just bigger. In fact when i try to resize down, the wasd letters gets littler instead the box... is that a joke? cause is not funny. Still without recognizing Generic Gamepads (when pressing a button just marks a blank space, if pressing d-pad buttons, it marks ''reserved''). And what about integrating an Xbox Controller Emulator in the toolkit? I mean, a feature that can register all the existing gamepad buttons and convert them to xbox layout (and maybe other gamepads like Dualshock, MOGA, Dancing Pad, etc.) so, if there's a gamepad-optimized app like Implosion, i can play it with any gamepad, not just an xbox one (i haven't, i won't buy it either since i have a generic and i want to use it). XboxCE is an existing app in windows, try to port to Remix.

I used a performance tweak trick from XDA and want to reverse it

It has been a while since I did this trick so I'm doing my best to recall exactly what the tutorial said. I couldn't find anything via the search function and googling so I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction to help me reverse it.
So roughly a year ago, I found a performance tweak trick on (I believe) XDA that required you to use AndroidSDK to change some settings on your phone so that it, if I recall correctly, forced some of the background apps to close (or something similar...I could be completely wrong about what it did). It was a non-root method. One of the key distinctive features of using this trick was that you would not be able to see the power consumption of each app in the phone settings anymore.
Since doing this tweak, android auto would constantly disconnect and reconnect from my car and I suspect that the tweak was causing the problem (Note: I installed the ability to use android auto via a 3rd party tweak and not from the dealer). I did not have any issues with using android auto until after doing the performance tweak, hence my suspicion. I also don't have a spare android to troubleshoot whether the problem is actually my phone. There hasn't been a noticeable difference in performance on my phone either after using the tweak so I would like to reverse it.
Notwithstanding my ability to find another android phone to troubleshoot with, the alternative option would be to do a factory reset on the phone.
@DevlicK
Do you mean you can't access the app power monitor settings on your Android device?

I can, it's just that the power consumption of apps page doesn't show anything/
@jwoegerbauer
Clarification: Battery usage for software shows up as 0% and the Power Consumption Page does not show any apps using battery power (but I can still see the hardware usage e.g screen, gps bluetooth etc)
