Samsung Internet Browser - Change Package Name - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
i want to change the package name of the apk from Samsung Internet Browser:
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsu...rnet-browser-10-2-01-10-android-apk-download/
Why?
My phone will update the app to v11 and this version is stuttering while scrolling pages with videos and gifs like 9gag.
I want to change the package name, so my phone will not update the appanymore to a newer version. Deactivate auto update does not work, with every firmware update from samsung the phone will automatically update the app to v11.
How can i change the package name?
Thanks!

Download the app. Extract the Samsung internet browser app
Go into zip signer and resign your app with test keys.
Uninstall the browser app if currently installed then install the test key app you just made.
Or you could post me the Samsung browser app you are using and I could do it for you

[Q] How to permamently detach an app from Android Market

With the app DicePlayer I want to stay at version 2.0.53, because from 2.0.54 on AC3 support was removed.
To not accidently update to a version >2.0.53 (e.g. by hitting Update All) I've used the function Detach from Market that is offered by Titanium Backup.
Unfortunately this detachment is being resetted on every reboot of the phone (Nexus 5 with 4.4.4).
Is there a way to permamently detach an app from Android Market?

Hi, I realise this is an old post but it's something I've been trying to do for a while too. I've finally accomplished it successfully so I thought I'd share it on in some of the topics.
It works by changing the apk signature so the app typically becomes 'different' to the one on the Google Play Store and therefore doesn't appear in your Google Play Store list. But by doing this, you won't be able to update the app from Play Store.
How to:
Need Root.
First do a TB backup of current apk just to keep it.
With a file explorer, go to root\data\app and copy the app apk that you want to change and paste it somewhere on SD card.
Now uninstall the app
Download and install: ZipSigner by Ken Ellinwood from Play Store.
Open ZipSigner, choose input file and navigate to earlier copied apk
I used key/mode: auto-testkey
Sign the file
The new signed apk will be put in the same directory the original file was.
Now install that signed apk and your're done. Check market.
Worked for me - hope it works for you!
Thanks. Unfortunately, doesn't work with Barclays UK app. Has this worked with this app for anyone? thnx

Can't install apks

When I try to install an app it says app not installed. I have tried signing the app, changing the version number and can't get it to work. I have tried installing apks I have downloaded and patched apks from lucky patcher and nothing works. So is there something that doesn't allow the phone to install modified apps?
I can't install samsung keyboard apk on my samsung galaxy s9+
Are you trying to install a new version of an apk that's already on your phone? If so, can you uninstall the older version first?
it is Android 8.0 security features. Google removed install unknown source. You need to give specific permission to file browsers or apps that does the install - for example, if you have app, copy to your phone, and open Samsung File, and click to install.

Yeah I did that to allow installs from Samsung file browser and lucky patcher but still not installing. It let's me push the install button and starts the process then says app not installed. I made sure that the previous version is not installed and reset the phone but still not working
Yeah I have allowed installs from the apps I am using to try to install and there isn't a previous version on the phone I made sure to uninstall the app and restart the phone after and still not allowing the install. It starts the install then says app not installed

the app you trying to install, unmodified one, go apkmirror.com and search for it, it should list different version, some apps has arm and arm64 version, download it to your phone, and install it.
your s9/s9+ are arm64

Emm nobody?
Samsung blocked sideloading most of it's system apps. Nothing you can really do about it.
Replace app with tutuapp
Your Android application may not be suitable for them. What you need to do now is:
Try updating Android, otherwise you go to the store by reinstalling your device, but this is very time consuming and costly. You can also use tutuapp android (visit tutuappplus.net to download) this free app store that helps me use great apps for Android.

Install APK Themes Android Pie 9.0

Hi Everyone,
So apparently after updating my XA2 Ultra to android 9.0 I am unable to install the themes I used
via APK. I read on the internet that this is something Sony is disabling for some reason.
Does anyone know a way to install a theme using the APK file and not from the Google Pay store?
Every time I try to Install them It just tells me that it couldn't be install and that's it.
Any help will be appreciate it.
Thanks everyone.

Hi,
I used to have the same problem, for *some* APKs even on 8.0. What i did (not sure what caused the problem, actually) was:
1) Enable unknown sources via dev. menu
2) Disable the Play Protect and built-in antivirus(es), e.g. AVG
3) Disable app checking from Google options (this might be tricky, because the app itself didn't show me this option, bit it came up eventually, don't remember how, i think when you try to install the .apk via ES or some other file explorer.)
Now it gives me the "App not installed" or "Unable to install" only when i try to update an app that was not originally installed from the Play Store, but (for example Aptoide or other Black Market store) it can be remedied by simply uninstalling the old app and install the new one.
Hope this helps. Good luck!

how to uninstall beta gcamera app downloaded from unknown installation source

I have a new phone. Samsung Galaxy A50s. Model number SM-A507FN
I downloaded Arnova's Beta 6: GCam_5beta6.200105.0445build-7.2.018.apk
for Android 9+ phones from https: // ww w. celsoazevedo. com/files/android/google-camera/dev-suggested assuming it will work on my phone. However, the app has been crashing frequently and it does not work. I have upgraded the software of the phone so it was upgraded to Android 10. Kernel 4.14.62-17887617.
This app was not installed from play store so I don't know how to uninstall it now. So please let me know how to uninstall this app. It not appear in the list of installed apps either in settings or in the play store.
Because you didn't install the app from Google Play, that's why this app doesn't appear on your play store's installed apps list. I think the reason why your apk file keeps crashing and not working is that the installed apk version isn't compatible with your device system. So it's important to find a proper apk file before downloading. Maybe you can find some useful infor abt the compatibility between device version and app version in this article apktovi.com/blogs/how-to-find-a-proper-variant-for-apk-download.
And if you're lookin' for a way to uninstall apk file, you can apply the following simple steps: Go to "My file" application>search for the apk file>long press and tap "Delete" in the upper right-hand corner. Hope this helps!!

Change apk to not update or get update notification

I want to install a older version of Google Contacts as apk. Because there is a bug in later versions, i don't want to update the app automatically and also don't want to get a update notification, when I search manually for updates.
Do i need to edit the apk name or something else? Is there any advice for this?
@Lifear
If you clone an app, for example with 3rd-party Parallel Space app, the clone doesn't get automatically updated.
Oh. Nice to hear that. And this clone creates a new apk file to save it for install it later again?
