LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit our Gerrit Code Review.

@mosimchah Will the update from within settings work on your version or require manual upgrades each time? What advantages does the 30s firmware give over the 20s firmware?

The OTA update option will only work once we have official builds, until then you'll have to update manually, as for the firmware, there isn't any real difference between 20s and 30s so if you're already on 20s there isn't any need to upgrade

There is a problem with lineageOS, the battery percentage, when you restart the device or when it is charging off does not show the correct percentage, this has already been fixed in the last AICP and AOSIP, could you fix it in the lineage? Thanks for the excellent ROM, for now I'm using lineage + BS kernel 7.0 to fix this

Ambient Display function not working for me.

I'm amazed that you guys are still working on this device.
Just wiped LOS16 and installed this build. Things are much smoother, but admittedly my LOS16 hadn't been wiped in over a year so was running rather sluggish.
The only issue I've had is that pixel launcher crashes, but Trebuchet seems to be pretty much the same now.
If only fingerprint worked it would be perfect

The Rom has everything to take off at the level of users, it works well and with further developments it could become perfect, but without solving the problem FP will never have the success it deserves.

i have it on 2 devices installed and so far it works good
how often do we get update?

It isn't even official, so there is no update routine.
First, all bugs needs to be solved (Fingerprint as example), then it's possible to make it official.
And even then, mosimchah will propably continue to develope and maintain AICP, instead of LOS.

FINGERPRINT FIXED
New build,
Changes:
1. The fingerprint is now fixed, huge thanks to jabashque for decompiling our fingerprint blobs and working with javelinanddart to figure out the issue and the fix
2. Tons of updates and fixes
3. Added the battery percentage fix from my aicp builds

Did a clean install with newest opengapps. All things worked well. After this I installed Magisk and banking app. After reboot rom is working well too. No problem with FP. German banking app and phototan app works with Magisk hide. All the other apps I need working well too.
So thank you very much for this great work.
I changed from AICP to LineageOS because I have LineageOS on my tablet. So its easier for my wife. No different icons and systems

Thank you for your hard work, I have two questions the first is whether OTA will work when the official ones are launched, whether it will arrive via OTA or is it broken in this Unofficial? and the second I can migrate from this unofficial to the official one using the migration zip without any problem?

I don't know if the ota will work from the unofficial build, but yes you should be able to flash it by using the migration zip

Thanks for the update!
Flashed and fingerprint works (mostly) great.
I am having some issues with the radio on this build. The phone sometimes drops 4G and does not want to reconnect. Or it sits in 3G for a while and refuses to move up into 4G.

Yep, that was it!

I'm experiencing some problems regarding the alarm. Whereas it sounds when the device its active, when it is suspended it manages to activate the screen but doesn't make any sound. Any idea?

Installation
(NOTE: if you experience robotic voice during calls: see the FAQ for a fix)
Upgrading from CyanogenMod/unofficial LineageOS without wiping
Unfortunately, now you have to wipe to come from CM - see "First time LineageOS14.1 installation on your Galaxy S III", or if you're brave try the instructions on changing keys.
First time LineageOS 14.1 installation on your Galaxy S III:
Read the official Wiki page
Flash a custom recovery via Heimdall or Odin
Push GApps (arm) and the Lineage 14.1 zip to your device
Boot into Recovery
Perform factory reset
Flash the Lineage 14.1 zip from SD card
Flash GApps from SD card
Reboot
Upgrading from earlier version of LineageOS:
Update your recovery - Lineage Recovery will be done automatically, TWRP can be downloaded from here (NOTE: you need 3.0.2-2 or higher to automatically install updates in Lineage 14.1)
Push the new Lineage 14.1 zip to your SD card
Boot into Recovery
Flash the Lineage 14.1 zip from SD card
Flash the most recent GApps for 7.1 if you are upgrading from earlier android version
Reboot

Reporting bugs
Bug reports belong on JIRA. See our wiki for more information on using JIRA.
I do not check this thread regularly for bug reports. Using JIRA makes tracking down & debugging bugs a lot easier. Feel free to use this thread to discuss bugs, though
DO NOT report bugs if you're running a custom kernel
DO NOT report bugs if you've modified system files
DO NOT report bugs if you've installed xposed and/or other mods
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
See how to submit a bug report for the appropriate place to report your bug (NOTE: the majority of bugs need to go in the BUGBASH tracker, which is only open on weekends).
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues or bugs already reported on JIRA. Any bug not reported in the bug report format below may be ignored.

Root?
Flashable zips to install/uninstall root can be found here. Download the "arm" variants.
Robotic voice during calls?
Try using the I9300XXUGMK6 modem. Instructions are here.
GPS Issues?
Probably a hardware issue. Try tightening the screws on the back of the device, or see this video for more information (thanks to @baltics for the link)
The LineageOS team would like to thank everyone involved in helping with testing, coding, debugging & documenting! Enjoy!

Finally official build here.. Good job!
Do i have to flash both zips (experimental and nightlies) or i have to choose one of them? I'm in Archidroid. Sorry but i read the wiki and i'm still stuck.

Only flash experimental if coming from unofficial Lineage or CM14.
Otherwise clean install the nightly.
The ROM does not include Root.
Lineage will release it's own Root in a few days.
Chainfire's very latest revision to his 2.79 Super Su may work. I have not tried it yet on the Official Lineage ROM.

Is there a specific reason for removing SetupWizard?
You better try to use this gapps: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=745425885120757579
Anyone tried as second rom?
As far as I can tell, it works fine.
It seems to be sluggish when compared to 7.1.2 ROM, but one can't really complain having a relatively ancient device getting an Oreo ROM ahead of most new devices, eh?

I use standard Lineage manifest
Anyway, here goes a new build (20170919).
Some really minor fixes here. DRM should work fine now (for media apps like Netflix, GP movies).
NFC starts fine now, but toggle still messes things up. If you will turn it off - it will work properly only after reboot.
I'm not 100% sure about NFC, cause I don't have any tags/other devices with NFC, but it looks like driver works fine. Will be glad to hear any feedback about real NFC functionality (android beam or tags).
No luck with a camera for now, cause we have some really weird cluster**** in our HAL/driver.

And what for vendor?
Is there a reason that DRM (Netflix) works on Oreo but not Nougat?

In the future, I may make a SM-T555 build that has working telephony but probably not due to me not having one.
What's working:
Wifi
Bluetooth
Sensors
Video
Offline charging
Hardware buttons
What's broken:
GPS is flaky
Camera
Audio
Changelog:
4/18/18
Initial release
For some reason it's not booting on my device if I take the older version from you Android host profile it boots and only audio thorugh the devices speaker isn't working
@Deadman9365 Hi! Could you tell me which TWRP do you use? I found on the web only an UNOFFICIAL one which works only on MM... Could you help me, please? I would like to try this ROM
I have the same problem as user nils_92.
The old "nightly" version (lineage-14.1-20170619-NIGHTLY-gt510wifi) boots, but the new one (Sean_lineage-14.1-20180418-UNOFFICIAL-gt510wifi) does not. Here the device restarts again and again before it has been completely loaded for the first time. Tested with "TWRP-3.1.x-omni-7.1_j16_20170609_gt510wifi" and "TWRP-3.2.1.1-lineage-15.1_j2_20180418_gt510wifi" as recovery
I also tested the recoverys, the flashing of other custom roms for the SM-T550 works fine. So here you can rule out the error. What I haven't tried yet was to leave the device alone and see if it might catch itself again and then boot into the operating system at some point.
I can confirm for the nightly-version that the camera and the sound do not work.
Looking forward to testing the final version.
Is work still being done on this rom? I checked the github but i dont see any recent commits
Title says lineage 14.1 but github link are stating 15.1?
I am looking forward to flashing the next release and getting some more juice out of this tablet
Can I flash it on SM-P550?
I have T550 before; i just trade off for S pen.
New version not booting.
I have tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7) SM-T550
I do install TWRP 3.1.0.1 with ROM LineageOS 14.1.
1) Use to Wipe Factor Reset
2) Use to install Rom
3) Use to install GApps
4) Reboot
But, its not working (When i start "reboot") > "SAMSUNG GALAXY TAB A 9.7" after "LINEAGEOS" cant open launhcer, its alone off tablet and on again...
Thank you developer and thank you all for not responding me.
Finally I have bricked my Tab, I'm very thankful to you guys.

Not to mention that you seem to have a different device after all...

Hi @deadman96385 nice to See you Continue working on this tab?. Still got my sm-t555 running so i hope there will be a release for lte Version. Tell me if
i can Test for you again
I'm working in order to keep this device alive, too.
Oreo works and the camera is working in my testbuilds, except for some grainy previews in the camera app.
I'll release a build when the speakers are working. Headphones are working already.
Stay tuned
Audio is working now. Feel free to use my vendor & device tree here @deadman96385. There are still some camera related issues, for instance the bad preview in the stock camera app. Using a different camera app solved this issue for me. Since deadman already supports Lineage OS, I'll build & support AICP. Android Oreo works on the tablet, I hope deadman will switch to the newest version of android soon. If there's some time in the next month I'll try to fix the remaining issues (the camera and SELinux permissive). Maybe I have time to build a SM-T555 version, too. But I don't own this type of tablet, so I would definitely need some testers.

If you have a major bug to report that has not been reported already, please take the following steps to report it to us. It will save you, Team Resurrection Remix and me quite some time.
Download the MatLog app from the Play Store.
After downloading the MatLog app, go to the app settings, and change the log level to Debug.
Clear all previous logs and take the exact steps to produce the error you are receiving. As soon as you receive the error (probably a force close), go straight into MatLog and stop the log recording.
Copy and paste the entire log either to Hastebin or Pastebin
Save the log, and copy and paste the link into the thread with a brief description of the error.

Problem with external SD card
I run the unofficial LineageOS 16.0 from @facuarmo on my harpia. It's working really well but it's no longer maintained. Hence I'm looking for another Pie ROM. I tried RR 7.0 and it installed easily but I have problems with the external SD card. It is recognized and I can create files and folders and can delete them too but already existing folders are shown as files with size 0. The same happens with ViperOS 6.0 and Pixel Experience. Does anyone know what the problem is?
Telegram*?
Anyone facing issue with Google Photos??
For me it won't open
Any updates on VoLTE ?
This is now my daily driver since LineageOS dropped harpia support. So far it's snappy and bug free. I had some camera issues on my first boot but that resolved after a reboot. Battery performance seems to be pretty good too.

Try turning off "Open network notification" in Wi-Fi preferences. That seems to help a lot.

I think the problem is in GApps.
I tried several methods available on internet but none worked and I thought maybe if I try a different ROM it may work but it didn't.
Then I was using my phone normally leaving the Google photos part aside and suddenly after 2 weeks later apps were updating and in that Google photos was also listed.
After updating of apps from play store was completed Google photos worked and from then there are no issues.
PS: Updation of Google photos will happen after 2-3 weeks till then wait patiently.

This phone is still alive, that's impressive. Good job for this work, moshe, you outplayed yourself again with these updates!
Very good rom, the fingerprint sensor even if you configure it does not detect finger.
New build,
Changes:
1. All the fingerprint issues should be fixed now, it works perfectly in my testing (including on the setup wizard, and across reboots)
2. Added wireguard support to the kernel

I guess you don't speak spanish, but...
Es increíble lo que estáis haciendo con este teléfono!!!
Muchísimas gracias por seguir dándole vida.

Installed lineage-18.1-20201222-UNOFFICIAL-zl1.zip after a Factory Reset.
Installed using TWRP version 3.5.0 (from official link: https://dl.twrp.me/zl1/twrp-3.5.0_9-0-zl1.img)
Your link to flamegapps didn't work (it said wrong version for your build), so I used: Nik Gapps (https://sourceforge.net/projects/nikgapps/files/)
Any ideas on how I can duplicate your success?
Fresh install and fingerprint scanner fails to register any activity and open camera fails to open the camera.
I'm happy to help however I can. Just let me know how.

It sounds like your persist partition got messed up, you'd have to either try flashing lineage 16, or stock, or flash the persist.img from the qfil zip as a last resort (don't flash the whole qfil zip though), as for gapps you probably downloaded the wrong one
Works surprisingly well. I've made this my daily driver. Coming back to my LeEco after giving up my Pixel 2 XL, I'm hard pressed to find anything I miss from the 2 XL that I don't get here. Moshe, you're a rockstar! Thank you!!!
Flashed from Lineage OS 16. Did factory reset then rom & gapps. It's stuck on the boot animation.

Basically Google made some changes to how persist is handled in android 10 and android 11 that can cause issues, flashing an older version and then flashing the update can sometimes fix it

Well, it totally worked. I flashed LOS 16, completed first time setup (not sure if this was required or not), and then flashed your ROM again and fingerprint scanner and camera started working again.
Thank you for teaching me. I'll have to remember that trick.

Yeah just use the recommended twrp, if it's still not booting then I'm not really sure why that would be happening, make sure you're not flashing any extra mods or anything

Got it working now. Thanks. Did wipe & format then version 16. Then another wipe and it booted up.
So, I've just realized that I'm only getting sound out of the bottom firing speaker instead stereo sound out of both speakers like my other le pro 3 running on the official LOS17.1 build.
Is there a setting somewhere that I need to toggle to enable this again in this great build?
