Which GSI currently works on Redmi 6A and how well does it run? - Xiaomi Redmi 6A Questions & Answers

Well the title says it all, I am planning to install a GSI on Redmi 6A, but not sure which one to install. Also concerned about about compatibility and bugs.
Please provide with any usable information for this purpose.
Thanks.

I use Lineage and also tested Bootleggers. Both are OK. Both are not able to provide VoLTE. Lineage has a mini bug, it doesn't Show LED during battery charging. Bootleggers has also a mini bug when diconnect and re-connect from flight mode back to normal mode (no carrier ID text). I prefer the Lineage.

RN3SE (Kate/snapdragon) no mobile data

Hey,
I've been struggling with my phone for quite some time. I finally got around to have another go at it and I managed to install ZCX TWRP and flash LineageOS together with Psy_man latest fix.
Still no mobile data. SMS and calling works fine. The whole reason I started this circus again was that my battery indicator locked up on MIUI wich also still doesn't work after flashing LineageOS. Doesn't show up on PC and doesn't show charging when connected to an charger. USB obviously works since I can still flash it through MiFlasher. Adb commands doesn't work and doesn't show up under adb devices.
When I was on MIUI region was locked to China but sms, calling and mobile data still worked.
I was hoping those things would be solved going from MIUI to LineageOS but obviously I was wrong so...
First and foremost I would love to solve the no mobile data issue so I can continue on LineageOS rather than MIUI. After that solving the battery percentage issue.
My insight isn't all that great so if any additional information is needed just ask away and I'll answer ASAP.

BIG trouble with IDO / system proces failed :(

My Redmi 3 IDO is stuck at the startup, system process failed ;(
Sometimes it starts up after +-2 hours... today it started, I immediately went to factory reset, but nothing happened when I pushed the button...
Then I tried to install TRWP & Kingroot to root my device, but this process hangs too, I immediately get into the lock screen and touch screen doesn't work.
I had put some roms, TRWP on my SD Card to flash asap, but I cannot get to flash...
Then I installed MiPCSuite (adb drivers installed on pc), but no device found.
I also installed XiaMiFlash on my pc and tried to flash a TRWP or Rom from there, but immediately fail.
I guess that original bootloader from Xiaomi is protected or something.
How can I get over this, so that I can install a new bootloader from where I can flash customised roms ?
Don't know what to do now, flash from pc,...
Touchscreen doesn't work, it starts up in lock screen and the light goes out faster than usual.
Today it booted up once, I had turned of the lock screen, but now it is on again...
I can only put my phone in download or recover mode with that built in Chinese bootloader, but don't know if I can do something from there.
I also tried to boot without SD/Sim card so that i'm sure that nothing blocks it, but this didn't help.
I guess I used too much apps & cleaners....
Maybe i'm lucky and it will boot after 2-3 hrs, but still when i'm in my device, nothing seems to work, this really sucks
Letting the battery run out and wait a few days to turn it on won't help probably...
Theres a lot of factors to determine in this case, first of all, is it a Snapdragon model (kate/kenzo) or a Mediatek(henessy)?, what version of MIUI are you using?, and most importantly, what did you do to get the phone in that state?
But in your case the most reasonable solution is put the phone on EDL mode and flash it using MIFlash, that software is used only for flashing an original MIUI Rom, you cant install TWRP or any other rom.
Yes it's a snapdragon (also tested it with an app), it's the IDO version (Redmi Note 3 international version).
The Miui is still the original version 7.
Actually I didn't nothing special that the phone got in that state, I think I just installed too many apps which resulted in a conflict that the proces system doesn't react and hangs at startup.
It's also strange that fastboot mode does nothing, it just shows the animated figures...
I will bootup in EDL download mode and try to flash the stock rom, the only thing is that I don't know which one.
My version is the IDO version, it's not in this list, I'll try the Kenzo.

Cannot receive hello packet error and it stops flashing... strange

Kenzo is codename for Redmi Note 3 and Kate is for Redmi Note 3 Special Edition (International version). Ido codename is for Redmi 3 (http://en.miui.com/download-298.html). Here is URL to Redmi 3's forum: https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-3
Thanks, it wasn't necessary anymore, while driving from work and waiting a few hours it suddenly started up and I quickly reseted to factory settings

[CLOSED][ROM][11.0] Yet another AOSP project [OP7][guacamoleb][UNOFFICIAL]

Who are we?
YAAP is a project founded by Adhitya Mohan (@poad42) and Ido Ben-Hur (@idoybh) with the goal of staying close to AOSP in design goals, offer a clean interface, do as much as original development as possible and avoid becoming a kitchen sink and cherry picked mess.
Bug reporting:
DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
If it is a random reboot, grab dmesg . (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues.

Finally yaap for op7...
I will take this rom under consideration..as i always like trying new roms on my devic
Update: 29May21:
Notch mask on landscape
FOD now hides when keyboard is opened at lockscreen
Used OP7 build FP and release keys to make Yono app work
Rom link has been updated**
This is the first custom rom (and I tried almost every rom on the OP7 forum) that has NO PROBLEM with 5ghz wifi and, above all, "ok google" working with SCREEN OFF... I don't know how you managed to do it but awesome, very good work!!
I misread the installing instruction and installed it in another way... I flashed it using the orangefox recovery that I found at this link:
[RECOVERY][DUALBOOT][Unified][A10][A11][OOS11]Orangefox-DualBoot-Unified-Reborn[21-03-2021]
Is it possible to get this recovery as an image file which can be used with 'fastboot boot recovery.img'? The reason I am asking is because the official magisk doesn't work if a recovery is installed and I prefer to use the official magisk then...
forum.xda-developers.com
I don't know if it's fault of this installing method or magisk's fault, but I don't pass safetynet and so google pay doesn't work -- no big deal for me anyway
Also, there's a couple of bugs, for example on the AOD the fingerprint icon partially overlaps with the battery percentage; and I cannot find a way to hide the "pill" (I mean the little white bar at the bottom of the screen) -- in fact if in YASP settings -> navigation bar I uncheck "enable navigation bar", the pill disappear but the back gesture doesn't work anymore (while the Home and Multitasking gestures still work)
Overall is a very good rom!! The battery also seems pretty good even if I'm using it for only a few hours

regarding safety net, it'll only fail if magisk is flashed, n magisk hide isn't enabled. Without magisk it should pass safetynet by default.
google hotword detection, the credit goes to yaap team.
I'll check that charge string on aod
There's no option to hide nav bar. You should probably ask yaap team for it

Yes, I don't know why but magiskhide was disabled by default, now I have enabled it and safetynet correctly passes, so google pay now works!! Thank you. I also tested the battery and I can confirm is better than OOS and than every other custom rom I tried.
But I have serious issues with calls... I use the google phone app. Whenever I receive a call I cannot use the volume buttons to adjust volume; swithing between ear speaker and handsfree doesn't work; the proximity sensor doesn't work and if I turn off the screen manually with the power button, if I turn it on again the UI become buggy, often the screen stays black and sometime the phone shuts down by itself and goes to "qualcomm crash dump"... Can you please try if the calls are working correctly for you? Before blaming the rom I would like to ensure that isn't an app I have installed causing these issues

after tht take logs
Excellent ROM, only issue I really have is that android 11 will no longer let me insecurely connect to the enterpise WIFI network at work. That is an issue for the IT guys at work....

Nevermind, it was fault of a call recording app "skyvalex", it has a magisk module also. Now i uninstalled it and have no problem with calls
Great ROM, thanks dev.
Only concerns are widevine l1 not present and occasional heating of device.
Why is this thread closed?

Engineer mode on Custom ROM

Hello. My phone is Redmi 9, running Pixel Experience (a10). This ROM is like a breath of fresh air after MIUI despite it has some of its flaws. One of its flaws - it don't have Engineer Mode, which is vital for me.
The question is - can i include this thing to my PE somehow? Maybe take the necessary files from the stock?(MIUI had working En.mode)
Going back to MIUI/Other ROM is not an option.

does custom os fix random reboot during call issue on redmi note 9 pro

hi
my friend own redmi note 9 pro
and have 'known' issue of random phone reboots during calls - like at least once a week during call his phone reboots itself
it was send to 'warranty' repair 3 times ! but they did not fixed anything.
so my question is
IS THERE ANY CHANCE THAT CUSTOM OS WILL SOLVE THIS ISSUE? lineageos for example?
or does anyone had this kind of issue with his one and custom os was the solution ?
thanks and regards !
It happened to me that my RN9P joyeuse restarted several times during a phone call or just while using it. The problem was fixed for me during the update (I think miui 12.5). It was probably a software bug when the phone tried to switch between LTE and another network which caused a restart. I am currently using the ForkLineageOS custom rom on android 12 and there are no reboot issues, previously i used lineageOS and pixel experience on android 11 and there were no problems either.

Can you review lineageOS for me?, is it good?, stable, and how to install it
not on rn9pro but on my redmi 9 everytime I try to call "*143#" my phone just magically reboots, and also the reboot persists too when I try to maxxed out the volume.
