Clean your recent apps
Clean up the internal storage
Move your data to SD card
Root your phone and use performance magisk module
Flash a custom ROM
Don't expect too much from your old device
And if all of this things didn't work change your phone

If you want space, then root the phone and use an app called link2sd to move apps to SD card and free space. If you want free RAM space to make it more smoother, don't open too many apps in one go and stop any unnessesary processes and use a task killer e.g. Clean Master. If you want ultimate smoothness flash a custom ROM!

Custom rom like????
And my friend want the maximun smoothness.
If i can make it smoothness only with root and move all apps to sd then can you tell me a link to the link of root file for 2.3.6 and the link for unroot file.
The root or unroot became from recovery menu of the mobile correct?

Your all questions will be answerd by reading some Guides
Go to our General Section and Read some Guides related to Increase Internal memory ...and all..
Then Head to our Development section for Custom Roms
Choose as You taste Suits
Comparing Roms are not allowed in XDA ...
Thanks

Head towards these For Increasing internal memory
And For Root and UnRoot
No this increase internal memory of this mobile is really hard procedure and risky.
I want an EASY and very really workable way.
If simply root(NOT custom roms or anything else) it and move all the apps into 8gb sd card can i see any chance at the speed of the phone?
Can you tell me if this app can move apps to sd card to a samsung gt-s5839i even with stock unrooted android 2.3.6 doesn't allow me to do it?

See which ever Guide i had Provided is already tested and workable so do it on your own risk
And without rooting nothing is possible
About speed, yes your speed will be decrease little bit
And about App link2sd is most preferable .
So you thing if i ONLY ROOT the mobile and simply move most apps into the sd card the phone will work stable and fast correct?

No the speed will not remain as it is it will decrease little bit.. because of moving apps forcefully .
The speed when i power on the phone?
Correct?
When the phone it was powered on and it was scanned the sd card then the mobile it doesn't be so slow as it is now that internal memory it was fulled except 20-25mb correct?

[Q] About marshmallow feature, which formats sd card as internal storage.

If I format my sd card as internal storage on an android 6.0 based rom, and then I flash an android 5.1.1 based rom, will the sd card still be considered as internal storage?
PS: To thread moderator ,
Please help me to rephrase the heading of this thread in a better way
No it won't work. The way MM handles the card is different from the way LP handles it. I recommend holding off just a little longer

Wait for MM to become polished before running an experimental version unless you can contribute in the way of fixes and stuff like that.

Also, can it be used as normal SD card if I flash a lollipop based rom, even after formatting it as internal in marshmallow?
And,
If I again revert back to marshmallow(after lollipop), do I have to format it as internal again?

I'm not completely sure. I believe so.
if you flash MM ROM now just select 'use as external card'. If you format and use it as internal storage you can not use it in another phone or ROM. That's what the setup says when you boot MM for the first time.
There are guides that show how to partition your SD Card in TWRP in order to use it as a type of internal storage. This will work with Lollipop as well.

Unable to move Apps to SD Card on Stock ROM

I'm unable to move my apps installed on Honor 5X - L22 (indian) model - Using Class 4 Memory card - 4Gb, is that an issue using low Class SD Card does not allow apps to be moved ??
Tried using Apps to move Apps but unable to detect them to move ? Are those locked ? Yet patches will fix this issue on this Stock ROM - Not Rooted.

Right i'm able to move indvidual apps through apps. But still unable to make it at smooth.
Settings-> Manage Apps. Click on the app you want to move and click 'Move to sd Card'. Once moved to sd card, the button description will change to 'Move to Phone'. If the app is a system app, it may have this button disabled. If your not root, then I would suggest you root your phone to give you more permissions (these buttons may be disabled on non-root devices). Your sd card is fine, it maybe slow, but it should still work. There are apps on the market which can move apps to sd card but they may require root.

What exactly does rooting mean?
And why do people brick their phone when trying it?!
Arobase40 said:
Root is the process of elevating your your rights on your system just as Administrator with Windows or root with Linux.
This has mostly nothing to do with bricking a phone but with flashing custom ROMs with some flashalcoholic guys...
It's the same story as with alcohol or with drugs, you know its bad and not good for your health but there is that insane curiosity, and with some guys they will continue even though they have had bad experiences...
Instead, with root when done and use correctly is a very powerful and wonderful tool !

So in order to gain root access I'd have to flash a custom ROM, which is a new OS?

In order to flash a custom ROM you have to first have root in the first place. Root gives you the permission to do things on your phone when normally you wouldn't beable to do so (Like flash a custom ROM {which means modified OS}).
You should search the forums and get good at searching the forums and google. Internet peeps don't like people who ask questions that have already been answered. Just a piece of friendly advice yo.

[Apps2sd] Linked apps 'break' on reboot

- I have a rooted Asus ZenFone 5 on 5.0
- I partitioned my sd, 2nd partition is ext2
- I successfully linked apps using the app Apps2sd
The problem:
- On reboot, the apps don't work.
- This is because the obb link of the app is shown to be broken(in app details, the link picture of obb is shown to be 'cut').
- Soft reboot doesn't solve it, nor does recreating mount scripts.
Only thing I could do is link the app again, and it works, but on reboot, the same problem comes up again.
How do I fix this?
You can't. Those files were never meant to be in external storage. This is due to the way android loads the memory.
Only option is to update to an os that adaptable storage.

So will this work(linking and not breaking) with apps that are naturally movable to sd card(i.e. moveable to sd from Android settings)?
And what OS could I get to change that? Cyanogen? RR?

Not really. Apps are really not made for sdcards. As for the OS you will need something that uses 6.0 as a base.
So marshmallow allows apps into sd? No problem with linking and rebooting?

It as adaptable storage. Which means converting your sdcard to be system memory. Does it work? Couldn't tell you. None of the devices I buy have an sdcard slot. And oem have hidden the feature or removed it all together.
So... either I get a custom rom with 6.0 without any guarantee that it actually works(and lose my data), or just be stuck with this problem on lollipop.
Another question, this problem will persist even for the apps link2sd and foldermount? I ask because they might use different methods, I can't confirm myself as my apps are already linked with apps2sd.

Yes. It is due to the way the os is set for mounting and reading the sd card. The whole OS loads before it reads the sdcard. Once all apps and data are loaded does it scan the sdcard. Not really alot you can do about it. I just wouldn't bother with moving things to the sdcard. Devices now generally come with plenty of storage.

True enough, guess I'll only link those that hog up too much space. Thanks man.
Btw, does titanium backup create backup of linked apps too?

Okay, thanks a bunch anyway.
Dalvik VM might be the problem. ART VM isn't causing any trouble. Though it takes a few more seconds to start the linked app, the rest works smoothly.

[PATCH]**Adoptable storage enabler** MARSHMALLOW

As you may all know Samsung disabled the Adoptable storage function. Even the well known S7 hack doesn't work on some Samsung devices.
Well now it's back...
Thanks to some legwork (no pun intended) by @longshanks197 we now have a workable solution.
I have created this patch to fix the issue by patching the boot image and replacing sm.jar in system.
This will enable the adoptable storage feature in Settings>Storage
This should work for pretty much any Samsung device running Marshmallow
I advise making a backup with TWRP before proceeding.
NOTE: Due to Samsung's modifications the combined storage capacity may show as incorrect, ignore this and pay attention to the separate internal and external capacity which is correct.
INSTALL:
Copy the zip below to your device then install with TWRP.
adoptable_storage_enabler_ashyx
For information how to enable adoptable storage see the guide below:
how-to-use-adoptable-storage-on-android-6-0-marshmallow

No. You can't flash anything unofficial with stock recovery.
Can someone do me a favour and check if adoptable storage is mountable in TWRP.
I. E. tap the storage button it should list internal and adoptable storage as selectable options.

Hi there ashyx,
I had some trouble (Noob trouble that is...) installing your 'adoptable storage' mod on my Galaxy A5 2016, but after some bit of thinking and troubleshooting I was able to succeed without much difficulty, I have related my epic adventure on this thread:

As I mentioned there, I'm going to make a donation to you right away to express my sincere thanks for your awesome work!!!
Cheers,

Thanks a lot. Its works great for me as well.
I'm using A710FD, Indian firmware, 6.0.1.
Please, I would also like to request you or any of the developers here, to develop a permissive kernel for A710F, Marshmallow
I've Link2sd paid version and it doesn't seem to work on MM.(Mount storage error !!).

In TWRP i try to install xposed but can't find anything(only show folders no content). what would be? I try mount internal and external but no solution.
Thanks for your work.
Thank you !
Works on SM-A510F using TWRP 3.0.2-1
I Hope we will stop using "hacks" for those basic Android features in future.
Edit : in TWRP I don't see adoptable storage(The fuse one I mean). I still see Internal Storage and Micro SDCard separated.

Formatting as portable was successful. But then when i tried to format it as internal, the device restarted. Since then it has beem restartint many time on its own.
Is it something to do with xposed installed ?

I think you should reflash the stock firmware and try again to rule out any issues.
After i changed the card it worked. But then i thought of a fresh install. Reflashed the stock rom. And now after all sorts of combinations of installing the mod with xposed root or not, this is not showing the set up function. It seems the device has become inmune to this mod. What steps should we take for this ? This worked earlier with the same mod
