Which rom should I use? - Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Questions & Answers

Hello @rcstar6696
I am planning to buy a Mi Pad 4 with a unlocked bl obviously. I see you made several nice ROMs for it. Which one is your favourite? This or Bliss?
Is it worth to buy a Mi Pad 4?
Many thanks

lol! congrats on the mp4. im currently using ArrowOS. its my second favorite ROM behind AOSP-Extended. it has some good customizations and runs great. just do a full backup before testing and if you dont like it you could test others or just flash the stock backup. good luck, cheers!

as with other CM releases, you have to flash the gapps zip seperately

Exactly. For a ROM to even matter to me, it needs to be better than the stock one, and many of them are not.
Just being able to tell my friends that I am L337 and have a custom ROM, isn't enough for me. It needs to WORK, without issues, without missing core features that the phone came with and that I use.
There are very few ROMs that work better than stock. Other than Nexus devices, those tend to be pretty solid and add in nice features, but for the rest of us they seem to fall short.
Half the time, the "OMG it is so fast and buttery smoothz!!!" is simply because you wiped cache and installed a new OS. If you just did a factory reset on your stock phone you would get the same result.
I am all for ROMs, I just want ones that improve the experience and performance. Just "being different" isn't enough of a benefit to justify what you usually have to give up.

My body, soul and phone is ready for PA(C-man)!
YEAH BABY, BRING IT ON!
I don ´t think that smoothness could improve much, question is if only battery will stay as good as on stock
For me, it's MUCH more smooth than stock.
No stuttering, no lags, even Chrome isn't lagging with complicated sites.
Finally (for me) no more LG crap.

Nokia N1 vs Xiaomi MiPad

Silly question....
I'm undecided between the xiaomi mipad and the Nokia n1
.... I notice that there isn't any support on XDA for both tablets making my purchase decision difficult.
What's your take on this, im on the look for a 4:3 aspect ratio and 7.4 inch ish tablet size, should I look somewhere else other then those? Thanx
Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk
ive no personal experience with the N1, but i can say that ive really enjoyed my mipad. im impressed with the build quality.
i run the latest "global" miui rom rooted.
also xiaomi is expected to release the source code before to much longer.. which means 3rd party roms would be quick to follow.
What do u mean with GLOBAL ?

i bought mine from china (i live in the US) it came with a version of miui that had several Chinese apps that looked to do similar stuff to google.. and it didnt have any google apps. once i swapped to the global version of miui i really liked the tablet.
from miui.com you can download 3 roms
mipad china:
-developer
-stable
mipad global:
-stable
if you install cwm you can easily root any of them, if you stick with original recovery you can only root the developer.
also there are several developers in russia and india that are just waiting for source code to drop. and its expected to happen fairly soon (assuming mipad follows the general path of other xiaomi products)
Xiaomi seem taking their sweet time lol,is already one year old if I'm correct.
What is the path that usually they use for their phones regarding the code?

Lets hope for Kernel sources to be released[Mi Pad]

Xiaomi is usually hesitant to release the code, sometimes due to too much pressure created they may release all at once as happened in the beginning of this year with mi 3, mi 4, redmi note all code being released, except Mi Pad.
Lets hope Xiaomi releases it soon so that Lag Free Roms can be developed for this beastly device!

Custom Rom for E1003 Ceramic Edition

Hi
This might be a stupid question, but non the less I would like to verify first xD
I am loving this device. The form factor the build quality and the performance with a custom ROM is absolutely top notch. So I am planning to get me a second one, the ceramic version, cause I like the appearance of that one.
Before i purchase one here is my question:
I found a ceramic one model no E1003. The model no is the only thing relevant for installing custom Roms? So with E1003 I am able to flash every popular ROM on it? I am just wondering as I read something about the ceramic version not being compatible with most of the Roms out here.
Thanks in advance, and sorry if this is a stupid question
You can install the current ROMs on the Ceramic variant with no issues whatsoever, the devs put "onyx" in the names because it is the Device Name for the OnePlus X.
The ceramic on the other variant is just an aesthetic change, the internal hardware remains the same. So Flash away
Thanks mate, then I can purchase without a problem ????

Sure ! Honestly, if the price difference wasn't so vast at launch, I'd have gotten the Ceramic one myself.
I could get a brand new one for 265 € which is an awesome deal. Will give the black one to my girlfriend ^^

I am porting Android Nougat to OnePlus2

Hi All,
I am in the process of porting Android Nougat to the OnePlus 2.
May take a little longer as I have only built Cyanogen Mod builds before so it's a bit of a learning curve but I'm up for the challenge
Edit: The rom will be ASOP Android 7.0.0_r1
UPDATE 02/09/2016: I have combined forces with all your popular devs to get all you lovely people your ROM quicker. We are making process but they have changed some things up so don't loose hope

Well I'd be interested too then if it's a TWRP flashable zip, Not sure if any of the gapps packagers have any N packs out yet though? OpenGapps looks to have a 7.0 section ready but nothing there yet.
Interesting! But i need know what not working,,

Best ROM right now?

Been using carbon rom for ages now, great standby time (minimal battery drain) and performance. The most frequently updated rom. Some users report lag in chrome browser but I don't use it for that so wouldn't know. Not sure if that's still a bug or not
Got my MiPad 4 tablet for a year now, and been using Xiaomi EU ROM since then.
Installed BlissRoms ROM a few hours ago, and I can tell you this is great
Tablet is super fast and has tons of customizations

Hey man, it does
I highly recomend. Been using for a few days and I have no negative aspects
CAREFUL when choosing the nikggaps type of package. At first install I've choosen "MACRO" and I got my device encrypted, dunno why. That made me unable to mount internal storage to pc.
Make sure you backup to your pc first, in case you need to full format your tablet.
Info about the packages on the official website (but only download from the ROM thread)
NikGaaps packages
Im using OMNI package since it has way less apps than Macro.
I installed Nexus Stock for Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 for my son's tablet and it works like a charm. Finally something simple and working out of the box without a hassle (and error 7 from twrp).
Was with stock for the longest time. Then Bliss came along and changed everything, now CR-droid is has really got it down to a pat. I've been with CR for 6.x , now running 7 (A.11). Really good stuff this....
