Front Camera does not working - Asus ROG Phone Questions & Answers

Hi all,
I just realized my front camera is not working. I can not figure out the reason. I did not drop it. It just stop working and seems like the hardware doesn't exist. I tried several things like cleaning cache or wip the phone.
Have anyone know fence this issue?

[Q] Camera Freezes/Black Screen/FC, anyone fix HW on their own?

I've been trying the past two days to get my camera stable. Regardless of the rom I am on, sense or aosp the camera will work maybe 1 out of every 15 tries.
It will either freeze, go to a black screen, force close, or state that the camera cannot be connected.
I have even opened the phone up and reconnected the ribbon cables at the mainboard although nothing looked loose.
The only thing I didn't do was try the camera when I first got the phone (before rooting and loading custom roms), to see if the issue existed at that point. I have however tried the camera with the stock variation compatible with root.
I've looked at a lot of posts on the subject and most of them seem to end with the OP getting it fixed under warranty, which I do not have.
Has anyone with this problem (most likely hardware related) solved this problem on their own, maybe by replacing the camera or another component?

[Q] Camera doesn't focus, even after changing module

Hi everyone.
I would like some help or ideas on this question:
I have a problem with camera at my galaxy SII. I have it since it was released, more than two years ago, and now camera mess up. The camera doesn't focus at distant points, but have no problems focus with close shots. (Macro option is disabled)
Not everything lasts forever, so I find out this post and I bought a new module camera (model GH96-05176A, same as the original from my SII).
I have no problem disassembling devices, but when it was done and I check it, the same problem was there. Camera doesn't focus either...
I softly cleaned up module lens, and even test it without rear case. Rom was changed, wyping and formating system and data. Nothing has been solved.
I know that probability for same problem on two modules (doesn't focus at distanced points) may be lowest. Anyone have an idea what I should do?
Thanks a lot.

Camera focussing problem! Weird sounds

I got a HTC one MAX off of eBay and after receiving the phone when I was checking I found that the camera was not working properly (unable to focus with weird sounds, front camera works perfectly fine though) whenever I tried opening it, there was a strange noise coming from near the camera module. I have taken a short video and you can hear the sound in it and it looks like phone is confused as to focus or not. The sound is similar to a bee trapped inside the phone buzzing. Any idea what it might be? Hardware issue? Here is the link to the video.

Looks like hardware. Have had my max apart a couple times. I think it would be easy to replace the camera if not under warranty anymore.
Yeah I guessed so. You think the issue will be resolved by changing just the camera module? And how hard is it to take apart the phone? I have experience in taking apart phones, have done it with my droid DNA and lot of other models. I just want to check out what a making that sound. Thanks for the reply though.

I'm already on the latest software version. Ill try flashing another Rom and see if it helps else I will have to replace the camera module I guess. Thanks for the response.
I tried several custom rims including AOSP and sense but can't seem to rectify the camera problem. Guess it's a hardware fault. Will have to change the camera module, anyone has any idea where I can get one who provides international shipping?

When you shake your phone you will see that the lens in the camera is loose. When you shed light on buzzing camera you will see it vibrating and stoping when you bring a magnet closer.
Phone vibrations over time tend to loosen the attachment of the lens in the back camera

Camera issue

Hey guys,
Sometimes when I launch my camera, it makes a loud buzzing noise and has trouble focusing. It seems like something is getting in the way of the lens not allowing it to move freely. If I shake really quickly it usually stops and works like it should. I don't know if it's a lens issue or am issue with the OIS. Has anyone else had this issue and if so have you found a solution? This is my second S6 Edge. The first one succumbed to the auto rotate bug. Thanks for your time.

I was facing the same issue from the past 3-4 days. It starts buzzing (not all the time, but frequent enough to get me mad) when you open the camera app, and might stop the buzing if you try to focus manually.
I went to Samsung service center yesterday, and they did confirm it was a fault camera hardware (don't know the much details yet). They ordered new camera hardware and expected delivery date by tomorrow.
Hoping, the new camera module be with out any issues.
To any one, i have been using the phone for the past ~2 months, and saw this issue occurring in the past 3-4 days. Is any one facing the same issue?
Maybe i will send an e-mail, and see whats happening with these Camera hardware...

Ulefone be touch 2 Camera problem

Hi to all!
I'm a new user,so i'm sorry if i'm writing on the wrong part of the forum; I have a problem with my ulefone be touch 2; when i open my camera,i see only black with some blue/green lines on it,and i also can't change from frontal to left camera, and also i can't use the left flash,it seems that i don't have the left part of the phone(fotocamera and flash).
Someone else have or had this problem before? Some hints to solve this problem? Thank you very much
Camera problems
I have a similar problem with mine. Mine only shows all white and I also cannot choose between the rear and front camera. Whenever I shoot it only captures a white screen. Also whenever I use the flashlight, the front led lights up when it used to open the rear one. I've read somewhere that resetting to factory settings will solve the problem. I still haven't tried it.
I have it too. Factory reset did nothing.
Same problem here all of a sudden after 3 months of use. Any idea how to fix?
Thanks in advance
Also have a problem that came up with the camera. Suddenly getting a message saying "no camera hardware found". Can't use front or rear cameras or even the flashlight.
Any ideas would be most appreciated.
Hi, has anyone found a fix for this camera issue?
No solution so far... Wonder if i can flash another rom like crystalrom v3 to fix this problem...
I found the solution to my problem here:

May be a solution to your problems as well.
Just a word of caution - for some reason, after reassembling my phone the camera worked fine but the accelerometer and magnetometer stopped working.
Now looking for a solution to that...
Hi ask to myefox my dealer to ask ulefone to make a video how to open and solve the problem.
No way to solve by resetting or even flashing new firmware.
Ulefone is a real pirates company: I have two phone ,same problem in the same time (three months) I bought one again waiting for reparation in china the first, when their first come back repaired , the second falls in the same problem and now the one repaired is broken again.
Crimininalfone not ulefone

How did you solved it? Did you open the parts and reconnect the camera connectors?
My back camera and flash stopped working and only the front one works and showing everything upsidedown. Flashing the rom from the beggining did not solve the problem.
I just reconnect the flex into the mainboard. I disassembled the phone and when I re connected the camera it started working

Could you be so kind to tell me which is the camera chip? Is it at the back or front of the LCD?
It's from the back. You can see here in this video. It's a teardown from the first Be Touch model but i think is the same.... I just gave my phone to a technician here in my town to fix it. I am not touching it...

ulefone be touch 2 . problem is "ERROR WHILE CONNECTING NETWORK". Please help me fix this problem
Try to reset to factory settings from main menu settings.
Exactly this is what I have (Ulefone Metal)! Also flash is not detected. Any solution?
I've opened the phone and reconnected camera's connector, but with no effect.
