Clearshield - Samsung Galaxy Fold Guides, News, & Discussion

Not sure if I posted in right place got a skin on phone front and back it's clear I dont have any photos of before but I do of after it makes the phone better to grip just don't use the carbon case as I pulled the front off when taking case off

nice. i have a matte skin on the front and back, both from difference places. i don't want to use a case with this thing either. its worse for the phone imo.
but oof, that spec on the front. that would annoying the hell out of me. good luck if you plan to re-apply. lol

I used the carbon one they hadn't even seen the fold before so didn't for free lol and they will try another technique with it the carbon case cocked it up but my fault it actually settled now ill get photo now if you like I just use a shocksock and the clearshield stuff on it its like it invisable lol

DO you have a link where to order?

It's not like brand were they send it they did it in store but I cocked up the front by putting the free case back on but they want to try a different technique so they will do it again for free as they not seem the fold but here a link to there website https://techbaserepairs.com/

Looks like dust got under the film. That would absolutely make me rip it off...
For future reference, try installing in a bathroom with the hot shower running. It will keep the dust down and give you a bubble-free install.

The bubbles went down had one spec dust went back they reapplied it was free so it was cool just u now cant use the free case as I took the sticker film off which is annoying

AT&T Tilt2 Full body transparent invisible shield

I just ordered my holster from seidio and all I need is a full body invisible transparent shield for Tilt. I'm having a difficult time trying to determine which brand is a better choices(Bodyguardz, zagg, phantom skinz). So far, I'm leaning toward Bodyguardz full body shield because it seems to protect the chrome corner side part and heard good reviews on surface texture feel.
Any inputs before I order the bodyguardz? Money is not easy to come by for me so I want to make sure before I plunk down hard earned cash. =)
Thanks in advance.
I bought one of them, think it was the bodyguard or flex version. I cant tell you how they hold up though because I ended up destroying mine while trying to put them on. Talk about a pain in the ass.
It was difficult to place them in the right spots and keep out the air bubbles, even using a credit card to squeegee the air out didnt work out to well. Then some how pieces of the larger ones were sticking to themselves while I was trying to put them on. They arent like the simple screen protectors that come with the phone and are very easy to put on.
They need an instructional video for people like me. Id really love to use the full protectors after shelling out the money I did for my Tilt 2, but I wont waste my money on something thats im likely to ruin before I even get on.
Bodyguardz
Bodyguardz is great, feel and protection wise. It is a little difficult to put on but once on correctly it will be worth it. If you use a little water (actually it comes with applicator spray) it will make it easier to position while applying. I used a Best Skins Ever on my Fuze and it was a little sticky while sliding with the finger but this one is almost like the stock protector, but thicker, longer lasting. If you do a search here a xda there is a thread where someone did a very good job showing and explaining how to put it on. GREAT Of course I have Tmous TP2 but I don't think they are that much different.
I finally took the plunge and ordered bodyguardz for my tilt 2. I'll post pictures and post it here. I hope I'll do a good job installing it. I hope the shield will protect the chrome edge part of the tilt2.
have you guys ever heard of GHOSTARMOR. very similar product. these guys show videos of their product actually being scratched and tossed around. They say its made out of the same material they use on military applications. this stuff looks extremely durable from their videos.
http://www.ghost-armor.com
I wonder if bodygaurdz is made out of the same material that GHOSTARMOR uses. Ive been really leaning towards getting GHOSTARMOR for my Sprint TP2.
I have the AT&T Tilt 2 and I love the screen shield that came in the box...does anyone know where to get more?
There was no water needed. Simply apply the shield and VOWLA* (<-check spelling) it fit perfect...

i do like the att screen shield - it is very smooth and feels nice. i bought a 3pack for $10 at the local att store when i picked up my new tilt2. had to ask to find them. i have 3 tiny specks of something on the current one (not bothersome so much), because once you peel the back it attracts everything to them. ive got the second one on and have 1 more before i realized that it had one i the box lol. i just got my 2 pack of body guardz but havent had the time to put it on. must devote my full attention to the process! there are great youtube videos for application tips and also great thread on this somewhere. i am very a very detail oriented person and a flawed application will drive me nuts. anywho i have 2 to try for $20 (i used a 20%) off coupon. will let you know how it goes. i chose bodyguardz cuz everyone said they are very smooth and durable and you get 2 instead of one....

I see...
I was actually looking for a screen protector online and in stores and stumbled into the one that AT&T put into the box with the phone. I was soooo excited!
Anyway...I don't know if I can spend $20 on 2 from bodyguardz...it's way too much money. However...you do get a lifetime replacement on them...so it might not be that bad.
Let me know how they come out and if you like them...I'm curious to see how they fit the Tilt 2.
Did you get just the screen protector of the case/phone protectors? They also sell the plastic peices for the back and sides...???
Snap some pics when your done with the application!
Thanks,
so the one that att has out of the box.. does it require cutting? or is it an exact fit?

lol yea.. i actually just got mine today.. so yea found out myself... and i put it on perfectly!! seems like a very legit screen protector... very rearely do i use the screen protectors that come out of the box.. this one is actually well made and durable
id love to see pictures of this. Thanks. I ordered the only case ATT had which is a clear plastic one.
I much rather use this and a leather case so i dont scratch it with the case itself.
Bodyguardz
I bought a pair of Bodyguardz because I was very happy with them on my Raphael. They survived a crash (on the moped) which my denim jeans didn't. I also tried Best skinz ever, but they peel off far to easily. I won't be buying that anymore. Anyway, the BGZ armor has been protecting my phone for almost or over a month now. Still happy with it. I'm not so pleased with the fitting though. The ones for Raphel fit absolutely perfect. the one for Rhodium not so... I have to say I could have done a better job with the pieces on the (front)sides of the phone. But that's easy to say in hindsight. It wasn't very clear how they would fit before application. Now I know better. the screenprotector is the worst part (the way its cut out). However many people complain about the screenprotectors from BSE/BGZ/GA because of the rubber-y-ness and go for the stock one (I f-ed up my stock screenprotector so had no choice, btw I've gotten used to it). Still I would recommend BGZ. BGZ has proven itself to me several times. A crash and several drops on the floor. No damage, no scratch and doesn't peel off that easily.

Best / Thinnest (Preferably Clear) Case for G1?

I was searching around and could not find a gel/TPU type clear case for the G1...for those of you who do not know...here is one example of a Nexus One case like what I would want:
http://cgi.ebay.com/2-Soft-Case-TPU...t=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item746a91e417
I know they do not show a completely clear one, but that is the material/type of case I would like. It is not like a typical silicone case -it is slightly like a hard case being that it does not bend as easily and it is not floppy at all.
Any ideas?
Heres the problem that I see...
How would you open the keyboard with that cover overlapping the front of the phone? That would probably be the reason those style covers don't exist for the G1.
As my fellow Oregonian said.. Soft cases and a slide keyboard won't really work.. If you look at the hard shells you'll see how the screen has it's own little part that clips on.. soft shells wrap instead of clip on...
I fail to see why they could not have a separate piece to put on the screen...?
If there is no such case... then could someone recommend a thin, yet tough, hard case? (preferably clear)
soft cases can't clip onto the screen part that has to slide up...
but here's something i found with decent reviews for the other colors.. clear hasn't been rated yet

Yeah I understand what you mean and thanks for that info...but - I was thinking not of a soft case 'clipping' onto the screen but you could slip a cover over it or around it -I am SURE there is some way to do it....

LOL WOW THANK YOU!!!! How did you find that ? it should not be labeled as silicone (I think)..... wow that is exactly what I am looking for! If I cannot find any cheaper ones I will order that one...
Thanks again, I cant believe you found just what I was looking for...

yea that case is rocking . I as well was looking for something like this! Thanks!! hey erebusting did you order it? did ya like it?
I ordered the clear one, and it came in yellowish like it was old or like someone was smoking around it or something.... the seller gave me a refund because he said they had no more, but I think that all the clear ones were just as yellow ? who knows....
also when you hold the phone in portrait mode on the top right and left corners of the keyboard section the case left a small gap on each side maybe about 1-2 millimeters as if it was slipping off...
Other than all that I liked it, but would not use it because it makes my phone look yellow / ugly... if I had a case like that with these flaws fixed then I would use it.

LMAO...Reading this was funny for some reason
Can you post some pictures? And would you recommend it? I am looking for a new case for my phone, and this one is one that I am considering
I had this case. I had a screen protector on, and the extra height of the screen protector made the screen portion of the case slip off. If you don't use a screen protector, it might work for you. I bought a Seidio case and never looked back. Super thin, rugged plastic. Comes in black so it blends into the phone.

zinite, I understand that, but see I do also have a screen protector on but the section of the case which goes on the screen is fitting fine, the section for the body is the part I have the complaint about. I will definately check out some Seidio cases now that you have mentioned that.
SolemnWishing, Here are some pictures of the case next to a clear hard case (which is actually clear and not yellow...)
Ace42, glad you got a laugh! haha...BTW I am wondering why you were laughing though, kind of odd to me ATM...
WOW! that case is really yellow. i was thinking about getting one thinking it wont be that yellow. but that is definitely gross smoker yellow
Dang... it looks like someone left that out in the sun for like a year or something..
Guess you know what happens to these cases when you have em for awhile... I've long given up on G1 cases: with a simple screen protector you should be on your way. I love the feel of the back of the G1, and a case would only screw that up.

Any ways... Those pictures are from the same day of receiving that case, so it must be some fault on the seller....
its really a disappointment since there are no other cases (that I can find that is) like that for the G1...
any other recommendations/ideas?

Ghost Armor now Available

Hey guys. Just wanted to let you know that Ghost Armor has finally made a shield for the Rezound. I might be checking this out soon.
i had them do a custom screen for me. guess its time to get it redone. thanks for the heads up!
If anyone gets the full body coverage, please put up some pictures. I'd like to see how they do the battery cover, since the cover isn't a smooth surface.
I wouldn't do the back, even if the offer it. Why cover a non slip surface with a smooth slippery material? Don't get me wrong I loved the full body armor on my TP2 but the back of that device was smooth hard plastic. The rubbery film added grip to that device.
I asked the guy at the Ghost Armor kiosk at the mall and he said he'd have it next week.
Never heard of ghost armor. Can someone elaborate please.

Worked for me.
It's not slippery at all. They even have carbon fiber films

Got mine installed yesterday at the mall. Overall I like it, and I like the warranty, but taking it back today for a re-do - did not dry clear.

Nope, just the screen.
Update: The first protector they guy put on didn't dry well and left a haze. I went back the next day and after a couple of tries he put another one on - no charge. Looked much better at first. When I got back to the office I noticed that it looked like I had water UNDER my SCREEN. Called the guy and he told me to bring it in. Went directly back and sure enough, some of the liquid they use to put the protector on (soap and water) got under the top layer of the screen. He put my phone in his dryer for about a half and hour and it had already started to look better. By the next day it was gone completely.
I'm a glutton for punishment; I'll go back and let him try one more time.

Maybe it's that lip around the glass.
Almost like the case was fit around the bezel, if that makes sense?
I was actually thinking of how installing to edge of the screen would go. I'll probably order this weekend.
i would, but i have otterbox defender series, so, there is no point. lol
As far as look and feel, is this similar to the Zagg invisibleSHIELD? Personally I can't stand the Zagg stuff! It's almost impossible to put on and after some time the edges collect lint if you keep the phone in your pocket.

IMHO, better than Zagg. Less orange peel.
I really want to see the white carbon fiber full body kit. I wonder if they make one for the full body extended battery.
Here is a video I found of a guy that got the Black Carbon fiber put on his Rezound...... looks pretty sweet. Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2XDwxcnSZk

Back cover project (installed cover)

I bought this white back for the phone to see what i could do with it. I took the letters off because they were not stuck on there good. They came off with a dust can.
Decided to paint it a sliver color to match the frame as close as possible. I hand painted the inside of the letters black. I don't know what to do about the "M" yet, if i'm going to put one on there or not. Maybe something else, idk.
This is what I have so far. It looks like it has a brushed look to it. After I painted it, I scuffed it with a dish scrubber to give it that look.
Last thing I do, will be spray a satin clear.
That thread title though.
Looks good.

Definitely a cool option to have something unique like that.
This does look cool. But I wonder what kind of spray paint you used and even more importantly what kind of clear coat are you going to use to withstand bending? When one removes and puts back on one has to bend this cover a bit and I'm not sure how well will paint and coat withstand this?

I used rust-o-leum paint and clear. I'm not worried about the bending. I'm taking this one off in the next few days.
I started another one with a different silver. I wont be reusing the current one.
FYI they make paint for plastic (bendable) it's mostly for bumpers on cars
I took the cover off earlier and the paint held up very well, i didnt bend the cover a whole lot to begin... i wasnt going to use it again so i decided it to test how much bend it would take and i had to bend it a lot in order for the paint to wrinkle.
I tried doing something similar for my daughter that got bored by the same old phone sleeve/case that was partially clearly transparent and partially frosted look.
I decided to paint the frosted part using RAL 9005 matte black spray paint. I haven't clear coated it yet as it was just an experiment. If it turns out to be ok I may coast it using some not so rigid coat to avoid cracking due to the rubbery nature of this sleeve.
She likes the end result. Me too. Unfortunately I'm not able to add images to my posts (haven't posted enough posts to XDA - apparently)

How did you stick the back cover back on?
I'm curious to know what you used to stick the cover on with.
The reason I ask is that my first Nexus 6 came with the cover unstuck right out of the box. I returned it (partly because I was worried that the battery may have swelled) but I'd be interested to know how hard it would have been to stick the cover back down again.

Uuhm... i had thought the idea of seeing more than one back cover in some of the more recent photo's would have indicated it... but also in the first post he says he bought a white back cover a while ago to see what he could do with it. He didn't remove and replace the same back cover. Pretty sure that's NOT possible due to the adhesive... or at least risks the ability to put it back on firmly and smoothly.

Bumper that works with mods?

Has anyone found one?
Just got a Z3 play. Had a Z, and my wife has a Z2 play. No trouble getting a bumper for those phones, but can't find one for the Z3 play. It's bumming me out, cause I have troubles with extra screen touches from my hand without the bumper. But definitely need to use mods with it, so other cases are out.
Hopefully someone makes one soon. :fingers-crossed:
I'd watch Sprint and US Cellular's sites once the Z3 Play is available from them. Verizon made the best bumper for the Z and Z2 series, but since they aren't carrying the Z3 Play they won't make one. Hopefully either Sprint or USC will make a bumper. Otherwise I wouldn't hold my breath since there were very few aftermarket bumpers for the Z or Z2 Play.
In also looking for a bumper case for this phone. I hope they make one for us like the z play and play 2.
I wonder if those bumpers with the clear back, would work with the back neatly cut out. Might risk 7 bucks to try it.

@Darth
I wish you good luck, indeed.
My opinion is that *any* bumper or cover will make it hard to reach the sidemounted fingerprint. it sits deeper. With Sony devices, I only used snap-on hard cover with a cutout for the sensor. Which is obviously not possible for the Z1-3 series.
Another issue forced me to dump my expensive Z2 Play Verizon Bumper: It makes the phone too large, so that I can't hold it securely with my short fingers. Two-handed usage, even without...
My solution was to use a full screen protector to prevent scatches while pulling phone out of pocket or screen facing the table. The back side has it's Mod on. This is surely no drop protection onto the edge, but this is a risk I have to live with.

Dang, think I just wasted some cash. LoL
Didn't even think about the fingerprint sensor, which I really don't want to lose. Ah well, I'll have a lightweight case that still lets the nice looking back be seen, that I can use when I don't need the battery mod. Which I don't think I need much really, the battery life has been awesome for me.
My Z had a fried battery I'm sure, would barely last an hour and a half of use. So the battery mod was a full time necessity. Not the Z3 play though. Doubt I need it except as emergency power when I'm not near a plug, or for sitting on the couch.
So I got the case delivered that I linked above. And got to cutting the rubber sides off of the harder clear back.
The bumper does have a cut out for fingerprint scanner and works fine. So that's good! I rushed and my cutting job is really not nice. That's on me. A sharper utility knife blade and taking my time more would have made for a much neater cut. Did it on a breadboard and was extremely careful not to slip and cut a corner open. Really took time cutting out the corners.
I basically cut right along the edge of the hard clear back plastic. My knife was kinda dull though. Was too impatient to get a new blade for it.
But, success! It's on, stays on, and my battery mod is on. It's way flimsier than my Z's old bumper or my wife's Z2 play bumper, but those were thicker cause they were made without backs and made thicker. So the sides move a bit and are a wee bit floppy, but the corners are tight, so it stays on.
Aside from the back being a bit ugly cause of my bad cut, which I'll try to tidy up later, it does work. Just a but flimsy. But I still prefer it to no bumper, for me personally.
I'll probably only use it at home, and will definitely buy a real one if someone ever makes one. I'd like a thicker more sturdy one for sure.
**Try at your own risk and satisfaction not guaranteed.**

I'll probably only use it at home, and will definitely buy a real one if someone ever makes one. I'd like a thicker more sturdy one for sure.

Thanks Darth! Can you keep us updated about how it holds up?
You'd think someone wouldn't made an official one by now. It uses less plastic to make a bumper.
Finally found one on sale on amazon! If anyone gets it, please give impressions.
It's aluminium so Idon't know how it will work with the fingerprint sensor. Reviews say it's a bit too thick to place your finger correctly. Now that verizon is supplying the Moto Z3 they might release a rubber bumper like the ones for the moto Z and Z2. I'll wait and see.

This looks to be more of the same by another dealer but the pics show no figerprint sensor. Reviews do say there is one though.:

I have one like this, from eBay, for the Z2 Play. The "bumper" does not stay on the phone, without the back of the case attached. Even with a Mod attached to the phone it does not seem like the "bumper" portion will remain on the phone. It is very loose.

Well that is disappointing. Oh well, I'm waiting on you Verizon. Provide us with that little piece of plastic. Anyone for that matter!
Also this case I have for my z2force and it interferes with reception of the antennas. Had it on for ten minutes then just threw it into the trash. I had a company I reached out to and said they were making some.I bought one of theirs for the force 2 and it was hands down best bumper I had..
