Where is Motion Photo setting in newest Galaxy S9 System 19 update Feb 26 - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

Reluctantly decided to do the latest update on my S9+ yesterday which was System 19 update. A few new features I noticed but one I used all the time especially with the grandkids is where did the Motion Photo setting go? That is a big Iphone option and I loved it on the S9.. So I can't believed they removed it.... Am I missing where the feature setting is? thanks for any input

i have done the update...i still have that option enabled and active when i take still photos although i cannot find that option anymore in the camera settings

Up the yellow one.

Thanks for this thread! On tech support with Samsung & sweet girl has been going through as many things as she can trying to help me find the way to restore this option which she wasn't aware of until I called. Thank you!

Full Screen Incoming Call Contact Picture/ICS

Hello all, just updated my to ATT/ICS last week and thought this feature was to be included in the 4.0? After searching here for a bit I can't find any info. Wondering is there a way to do this with out rooting the phone or running a different launcher. TIA

that feature is available on Google's version of ICS, which is AOSP, but also in AOKP/CM9, I have AoCP from The Collective Team and I have full screen caller id, if you're running stock , well that's AT&T/Samsung's fault for not adding it to their dialer, you can try this app out and see if you like it, I don't think you need root for it or anything else. good luck

Hey thanks roloracer, this is kinda a no brainer Att Ics? Coming from a windows phone and boy that feature looks just great. Every day I'm getting closer to the ROOT of the matter. Thanks again.
Related question, but backwards.
How would you disable this feature?
Looked through all the options I can find in CM9 (h0tw1r3, not the official CM9) and can't find anything about it.
I don't have contact pictures for 75% of my contacts, and the ones I do have are seemingly tiny images that look terrible on the Note full screen.

the moment someone woudl sync with google .. there server saves the pics very samll so it woudl look bad for everyoneanyway.. thatfeature has been present on htc devices for a long time and i had a mod on my previous samsung phone rom to allow big pictures full res ,but you woudl have to NOT sync google contacts automaticallly and save them to vcard on your phone so you can reload the full res pictures , this issue has been on going since the first android device go look at google 's error reports youll see tht threads is thousands of pages ppl com:laugh::laugh::laughlaining .
@DAGr8*;
thanks for info ..........yes I was wondering , if there is a way to do this eg > lower the resolution of pic ( thus able to add bigger size for display on Ausoem note screen)
will that maybe solve this issue?
<< this feature was one of Major reasons why I went from ICS stock to another ROM from Xda forum>>
I find stock ICS from att =has several things lacking and a MAJOR DISSPOINTMENT
>> thanks in adnace > love your mods and work !

Galaxy Zoom Camera app apk

Here is the improved camera app from the Galaxy Zoom. Biggest change that stood out to me is that you can now customize the interface to add quick shortcuts to your most used modes.
I don't have a rooted Galaxy Camera, so I couldn't test to see if this works on our devices since it doesn't install as a regular APK.
I got this APK via this thread but can't verify its authenticity personally, if anyone knows how to verify it, that'd be great: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2388496
Try it out and let us know if it works, it'd be great to get an improved camera app!

For android 4.2 not work on 4.1.2
This is what I have been waiting for ever since they announced the GS IV Zoom and Galaxy NX. I was hoping to see this new camera app integrated into a software update for the camera, however I haven't even seen an update come through for my camera since owning it. I know we have some amazing devs in this community so hopefully one of them has some interest in this camera to help make this camera app function correctly for our cameras.

Android n developer preview 5 can't reply from lock screen anymore

Android N Developer Preview 4 can reply from the lock screen but I updated to Android N Developer Preview 5 and this feature is lacking. I really loved this feature and I checked the settings it is not present anymore please help I really want this feature back.
I noticed that too. This is the only place that seems to have noticed so far. I'll have to do some more digging through the web and settings andhopefully I'll find something.
Keep me updated please. The only current work around I can suggest at the moment is "Textra" but it is not as elegant as the stock Messenger app from Google. I really want this feature back hopefully it is in the final release of Android Nougat. Fingers crossed!
Hours later and I've only seen one other person mention something about it in all the articles I've looked at. I thought more people would be upset about it.
Well happy you created this. Thought I had a bad install. I'm probably gonna roll back to preview 4 now.
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
How would you downgrade to DP4? The only way I can think of downgrading will take me back to Android M (Unenrolling from the beta)
Find the ota file for dp4 and flash it in recovery
Any possibile way to revert back to DP4 without losing again all the apps/settings?

How to Create Multi/Live Wallpaper (Non-Root)

Hey Guys -
After wanting an HTC One U12 for a while, I recently changed my mind and went with a Samsung Galaxy S9+. I LOVE it! I had wanted the U12 since HTC supports rooting, but found out that at my new job you cannot install company apps or sync with rooted phones and the apps I use are a must. Turns out most things I would have rooted for are already included with the phone. I'd still love to root if it didn't break Knox and may try in future if a reversible one every appears.
It's running the latest OEM firmware of Oreo currently. One of the features (which seems to be Samsung) is the ability to use the "Infinity Wallpapers" which come pre-installed in a few base colors and I believe one is selected by default. In Samsung's app, I also see where other live or infinity wallpapers may be downloaded and used which are just a few seconds in length.
Anyways, my question is, how can I make these live/infinity wallpapers on my own? Do I have to use "Theme" tools to do it? So far, here's what I've found although hit roadblocks with each:
- I went to Samsung's website to see if there was PC software. From what I gathered, you have to sign up to download it and signups take place for 2 weeks starting the 3rd Wednesday of every odd month - plus - your application must be internally reviewed and approved. Hmm...
- Found this post about "themeDIY." I started getting it set up after updating my Android Studio to the latest version, but the link provided which contains the Samsung files is broken so cannot proceed
- Found "Samsung Theme Designer" at this link on Samsung's DEV website, but it was last updated in 2012 so doubt it is what I need
Any suggestions would be appreciated - Thanks!!

S9+ - no more video recording button after Pie Update ?!

Hello S9+ Fans,
yesterday I updated my S9+ to Android Pie. Lots of new, nice things.
But in the new camera app the video recording button is no longer available. You have to FIRST switch to video mode and them press recording button. To have two buttons, one for Photos and one for videos was a brilliant, very much loved thing. As when you are 'in action' you simply can decide with one click what you aim to do, without priorly having to switch the modes !
Does anybody know how to get the second button back ?
I am even extremely thinking about bringing the old camera app back if it is not possible with the new one. Is there any way to do this please ?
Sorry if I might have overseen a thread handling this already.
Kind regards
Any fix for this?
First they took out dual camera mode then these "dual shooting buttons"... and moved the clock to the left whyyy samsung??!! Not happy with the Android 9 pie s9 s9+ plus update.
Moving the clock was a Google decision, not Samsung's.

Are you referring to the floating shutter button? Settings, Shooting Methods, Floating Shutter Button.

The real fail here is the manual video mode removal :silly:
Very stupid decision
This change is a minor annoyance and I'll adjust but it is an annoyance none the less...
I wonder what the thinking was here? Surely no one can consider this an improvement..
This is a freaking useless change and it's totally impractical. Nobody asked for this stupid change and yet, as usual, Samsung decided to implement it...
With android, you just root and change whatever you want. Or use another application suitable.

Yeah but that's not the point. + with Samsung, if you want to use most of the Knox features, root is a no go.
The point is that a software update removes a feature, which is not only useless but also detrimental to the user.
Hey, at least I can find the video mode now because it says the word "video". I had to spend 10 minutes on google to discover how the hell to record video the first time I wanted to do it on my s9+ because there wasn't anything anywhere that looked like it would make video.

.......and therein lies your answer to why things like this happen...
I'm sure a number of people in this boat complained to Samsung the first time around and so they removed this useful feature.
This is why we can't have nice things...LOL!
We live in a planet full of morons. I can't believe that there are people that they need to see the word "video" to understand the place of the function, but can't understand the red dot, the international symbol for video recording. You are so right, we are doomed to never have good things on this planet.

I'd rather hear his complaint than the ones that can't get used to companies changing things. What's the term I'm looking for? Adapt other die? No, that's to harsh and don't wish death. Get used to it? I don't think that's clear enough. Maybe people should just stop recording things, I mean, if someone did that to you you'd tell them to stop. No, you won't be YouTube rich any time soon kids, sorry
why do we have to get used to "changes from companies" that downgrade the abilities of our phones? You must be trolling, there s no other excuse of your unreasoning way of thinking.
Is there any way to install the old camera still having the two buttons ?
Does anybody have a link to download the app please?
I do see the positive other changes, but rather would use the old version to get my two buttons back.
your only practical choice may be installing a third party video camera app from the play store.

This is not an option for me as it would put me in an even worse situation. Samsung's camera uses the camera at its most. Any other app has not that brilliant pics + vids with that device.
So does anybody know how to bring back the Android 8 cam on S9+ having Android 9 installed ?
Thank you in advance.

This was no red dot, not until you first found the obscure and utterly meaningless red-dotless icon that switched from camera to video mode. That's what I spent 10 minutes on google looking for the first time I tried to record video.
