Global or EU? - Xiaomi Mi A3 Questions & Answers

I just bought recently MI A3 2 days ago and upon unboxing , I instantly updated it to android 10. Then I suddenly noticed on my official receipt that it is a MI A3 EU... But here is my current rom and it came from OTA. MI meaning it is global. The store is an official MI Store here in the Philippines. In the box it has EU label also next to MI A3 label. Am i global or EU? Planning to unlock and flash stock pie and relock

You are definitely in Global ROM, as the Android 10 EU ROM haven't rolled out yet. Also, there are no practical differences between one rom or another, more than EU policies and stuff like that.

Well actually just concern with warranty

Do not downgrade Android version after you successfully installed Android 10. There are user reports and also Xiaomi confirms that it makes permanent changes to some partitions and your phone won't work correctly after the downgrade.

Thank you for the warning i almost did it. But what are the suppose issues others are reporting? Even in fastboot issues will arise?

Ok. When i had chat with Xiaomi chat support. Technician told me that it is safe to downgrade android version. There will be no issues provided i perform factory reset.

Official warning: https://c.mi.com/thread-2918723-1-0.html
I can't find the report on mi forum, but I recall that it was non functional WiFi and maybe some other things. Most probably related to persist partition.
There is no other option how to rollback than to use Fastboot, so yes, even if you use Fastboot you're risking non functional phone.

I don't know about stock 9 rom, but after I flashed the offical Android 10 rom, I went back to miui (which is Android 9) and my phone is working perfectly fine.

How to Flash TWRP and ROOT Xiaomi Mi Note2

I had posted tutorial on How to Flash TWRP and ROOT Xiaomi Mi Note2 in miui forum link below
http://en.miui.com/thread-415853-1-1.html
Not a single response?
Tested and working fine people with the GLOBAL ROM version?
Thanks, new Mi user here and I used parts of the tutorial and have working root. I did not flash the root zips proposed, as I do not know them, I flashed SuperSu for root as soon as I had a working TWRP.
My bootloader was already unlocked by reseller and some unofficial global ROM was flashed on it. :crying:

Sadly don't have $1000 AUD sitting around spare right now.
I'll take donations though for anyone else with GLOBAL ROM phone wanting to know if it will work...
I am using v20 at the moment and really hoping to get root. It's a better phone with root, but without is really making it hard.

Moved from OnePlus 3 to the Mi Note 2 6GB 128GB.
The method works... Thank you, I downloaded the latest SuperSu to root and that works too...
Flashed a clean ROM from: http://mi-globe.com/index.php/rom-builder/
Flashed Xposed Framework from SolarWarez 64
So now I have everything working... Amazing device, I have LTE in Canada

Non-existing ROM?
Hello guys,
I received my Xiaomi Mi Note 2 Global version from Gearbest, but I gues there's something not right with it. I have MIUI v8.2.9 (I just read news about 8.2 coming for some Xiaomi devices today). I have this system, since I got the phone (more, than a week). It really is global ROM, since I have a lot of languages, it supports B20 4G, however this ROM is soemthing non-existing stuff. It says Android version is 6.0, MIUI is v8.2, that quite not right. Any suggession on what the heck this is, is very much appreciated!
Check out my screenshots!

Did you do clean install or just dirty flash
Installed and rooted via patched image a few hours ago and everything is working smoothly. The setting menu is much more streamlined and the fingerprint scanner works much better now! I haven't installed TWRP since I don't know which version works, maybe someone here can share which version works for them.

My device is still locked. So I just upgraded via the standard update mechanism.
I might do a factory reset, see if that makes a difference.

As you are from Europe, if you bought official, it is why it is EEA, but it is also Global, sometimes updates comes more fast on EEA Global, then just on Global. It exist also Russian Global.

i am now on XEU miui 11 beta, if i want to install this EEA Stable i can just install this stable by twrp? sure i will do format data, as i do it always when installing new rom.
I try to apply this OTA update but when the phone reboots in recovery mode to apply it, the update fails at less than 1% (the phone directly reboots).
Any idea about this issue? (bootloader has been unlocked for root but I flashed by the stock recovery)
Thank you for your help!
waiting to global, maybe tomorrow
updated via OTA with Orange Fox recovery...no recovery loose.
Little Bug...screen flickerin when unlock with fingerprint but not happen when unlock with face recognition.

Help downgrading from Android 10

Alright, so recently I got the zip file for the MIUI 11, Android 10 update. I installed it, all is well, except I miss the face unlock feature. Considering it's a device with the IR face unlock and not the normal optical one. Is there a way I can go back to MIUI 11, Android 9 safely without bricking my device?
Uh, the face unlock option is still there though..?
The Pocophone F1 stock android 10 very definitely does include ir face unlock
Try changing your region, OP
Check it's selected in your security settings too
I'm assuming here that it was the official update zip - not a custom one

Alright, my bad, since I read somewhere that the update might require a location change and hence I did it and made it other than India.
Switched it back to India and I'm all good. Thank you so very much. Saved me from rooting a new phone.

Lost Widevine L1 Certification After flashing EU ROM

Hey guys,
So i was messing around with ROMS,
Like EVOx, EU roms and suddenly after flashing latest EU rom i lost L1 cert,
I tried flashing stock rom, PE, Evo, etc still no luck,
It seems i cant get my L1 cert again.
If you have any idea how to get it back please share.
I would really appreciate it.
Watching Netflix in 480p sucks.
from what I know L1 cert is unique for every phone. You must use the one who came with your phone. its in persist.img that I hope you backed up before flashing EU rom. If you don't, you'll have to get used to 480p. Sometimes some developer publish a fix for very specific devices, not our case tho.
Is there an app or something to check what L-status my mobile has?

TWRP, but the issue is that i cant even get L1 on Stock ROM now. :/
Well okay, have read a bit through the net.
Seems like the only way would be if you have a backup of the Persist Partition of exactly YOUR device.
Seems like you have overwritten this partition while flashing.
This information would have been good to know in ROM install guides before flashing >.>

I have seen other devices able to get back L1.
Does getting the device to mi service center will help?
I guess best way to get a 100% answer is to write a mail to the service center.
Or perhaps you could ask the people who were able to "repair" their phones and got L1 back ?

Thanks for the info but i saw some posts and they all seems to point to mifash tool,
Which i already used to flash stock rom but no luck.
Should i try clean+lock?
I had read that if you loose L1 you can't fix it it unique for every phone. You should have done a backup in your persist partition before flashing and testing.
L1 is like the IMEI?

Actually even when not flashing, i myself lost l1 while locked bootloader. It happens after updating my phone to 11.0.8.0.
Many of my fellow countryment experienced also this. The weird thing is that there are some who does not experience this problem. There are others where widevine L1 is preserve on stock rom OTA update and there are some like me who lost it. This has been acknowledged by devs and Xiaomi mods. And still waiting for a fix. So for me i think it is not eu rom related

I lost it when I tried to update from 0.7 to 0.8 EU
Can you suggest a way to get it back sir?
That's really confusing.
I first updated my EEA Version with the inbuilt Updater to 11.0.3 and L1 was still present, and then after nearly 14 days I unlocked my bootloader and flashed the XIAOMI EU Custom ROM, version 11.0.9 and still got L1.
Is your mobile on Global ROM (with MI in the title) or on EEA (with EU in the title)?
It's strange cause I'm sure there are maaany users out there who have updated their device at least once, and the problem of the change from L1 to L3 seems not to be wide spreaded one, when reading through the different boards.
Most people are complaining about the wifi bug mainly... ?

When will RJBEUXM get MIUI 13 OTA update?

I have a Mi 10 (codename umi) currently on MIUI 12 Global Stable v12.5.8.0(RJBEUXM). I've seen the MIUI 13 update available via Fastboot or Recovery modes for it but idk how to do it that way. Thx much, I wasn't aware of that. I finally received the OTA update & am now on 13.0.4.0(SJBEUXM)
The MIUI 13.0.4.0 SJBMIX has been out for a couple of days now.
I'm using it with magisk and adaway and it's working fine, but missing out on thousands off adds makes me feel sad, because now I don't even know wether I don't want the products I didn't even know I didn't want. Does that even count as living at all?
