Best GCam 6.1 for LG v20 (Night Sight / HDR + Enhanced working well on all cameras) - LG V20 Themes, Apps, and Mods

Gcam_6.1.021_Advanced_V1.6-Fu24_5Lens-02b6.5.apk is by far the most stable version of GCam that I have used for my LG v20, and I've been following the various versions for a long time.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-6/themes/google-camera-mod-switchable-telephoto-t3859831
My Important Settings for the LG v20:
1. Hexagon DSP enabled (meaning, not disabled)
2. Allow Unknown Devices
3. Fix Green Tint
4. Sabre off for the main lens. Sabre auto (or off) for front lens. Sabre off for aux lens.
5. Viewfinder processing: Only turn on Auto-exposure (Motion breaks a couple of functions in various modes)
6. Config: Pixel 2018 ZslR Hdr+ or Pixel 2018 Zsl Hdr+
7. Model: Pixel 3 XL for both cameras
8. Use HDR+ Enhanced ONLY for ZsLR
9. ReINIT Camera Session turned off. Buffer Fix turned off. <-- Turning "on" Motion in Viewfinder Processing was what required me to initially turn these modes on since it created lag in the processing. Once I turned it off, I realized I didn't need the Buffer Fix anymore. This allows me to take photos a bit quicker now.
10. Default GCam CaptureSession: turned on for both
11. Resampling Method: Raisr
12. AWB Mod: Turned off (LG's processing is pretty good already)
13. Pixel 3 Color Transform: Turned off (LG's colors are already pretty good)
You can change any of the other settings based on your own preferences.

Tried on android 8.0, seems to work really well, thanks for the tip. I don't know anything about the settings so I copied you and I like the results. The app feels snappy and well made, also works with the wide camera without needing another separate app.

Thanks, I'm glad it worked out for you too!

Is this still the best camera on Oreo? I'm thinking of upgrading to oreo just for this camera and v4a.

From all the ones I've tried, this one is the most stable and feature-rich for the LG v20.

I'm happy enough on Nougat, it's super stable and I'm very happy with the battery life now I'm using Perfine 420mah batteries but I'd really like to be able to use the night sight - I'm concerned the battery life would take a hit.
I used to root all my phones and run custom rom's but now I'm using some App only banking companies, I don't want to risk them not working.

You need to enable HDR+ Control if you don't have the option selected already.

HDR+ control is enabled.
Do you mean to only use HDR+ enhanced when the config used is Pixel 2018 ZslR Hdr+
The way you worded your post made me think that:
8. Use HDR+ Enhanced ONLY for ZsLR
is also an option that I need to set, maybe put it in parentheses next to option 6 to be clearer

Everything work flawlessly Thank you

I installed that version of the camera and adjusted the configs all as you specified. My phone is lg g5, the camera works, and since the camera is almost the same as in the v20, I took your configs. Now I have some problems ..
1. I enabled on "fix green tint" and "Improve in low light (removing Pink/reddish...) and I still have red and green lines, when I shot in low light with and without night sitght..
2. Which number of frame to use on HDR+ parameters? I set it to 7..
3. As far as I understand I have the most problems with HDR+ settings. Do you have any ideas on how this could be corrected or improved?
Anyway thanks for help!

Thanks for this. I'm running Gcam_6.1.021_Advanced_V1.6-Fu24_5Lens-02b6.5-a10.apk on Android 10 with success.
I've exported the settings from the previous comments and attached the xml.
Enjoy.

I was just wondering if anyone knows of a modded gcam that has night sight w/ astrophotography that works (at least for pics) on Oreo 8.0?
Lastest I can be on is stock 8.0/no full root so can't do an different rom.
Has to be gcam 6.1 with night sight/astrophotography. If able to provide a download/link that would be awesome.
I believe anything after 6.1 won't work in Oreo.

Hey Mystic, your posts have been very helpful for me in the past. I'd love to help you out. Here is a picture with the stock LG camera app (auto) vs Gcam 6.1 referenced in this thread (night sight). I believe I have my settings very similar to what's listed in this thread.
The lens blur feature is also very nice. I had to set my lens blur in settings to 'auto' so it would not crash the camera app.
Edit: for astrophotography I have used the stock app on the manual settings. And it has worked very well. Just takes a little bit of fiddling with. Between shutter speed and ISO... I always use the Cheese Shutter so I don't have to shake it. You also have to prop up your phone or put it in some type of tripod or Mount so it is perfectly still. The last three pictures are with the stock app. I try keep the ISO between 50 and 100 and go for a longer exposureS, sometimes up to 30 seconds. The last picture is of the comment we had last year. Near the end of summer. @Mysticblaze347

Night sight is awesome, so is the lens blur, but I need one that is still 6.1 that has astrophotography built in for night sight so it can get better star sky shots (picks up more stars then regular night sight mode). I'm on the fu245lens 02c 6.1 atm. Its good, just no astrophotography feature for night sight mode. I wish we could use 6.2+ on oreo.
Edit: @kaluna00 I will try those settings, thanks for advice .

With the exception of a optical zoom, would you say that this GCam with these settings makes the camera on the V20 comparable to an inexpensive point and shoot camera for those of us who are not professionals?

I just ran into this as well. Night sight on the front facing cam also generates static like channel 3 on an old TV with nothing plugged into aux.

I took a short video from this mod, and it isn't crashed like stock camera so far. And when taking a photo using night sight, it crashed shortly when saving it.

S5 Camera manual shutter settings - AVAILABLE!

I've seen a lot of posts bemoaning the fact the S5 camera has no manual shutter speed settings, there's a solution....
CameraFV5 offers manual speeds and a lot more besides
Also has a companion Video app CinemaFV5
Both are available on Google Play.
Oh, and I have no connection with the developer, I'm just a happy user....
I can confirm this as a photographer. FV5 is wonderful. Now we just need a better CMOS in the phone....
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk 2
sorry to disappoint u ive been testing this app since long time and manual shutter control never worked :/
Works fine for me...
I;m not sure what's happening with yours but it works fine for me, including the custom shutter speeds...just checked again with 5 and 20 second exposures...definitely working..
Just given the app a try. Manual shutter control did work. Will give this a play, thanks for posting.

I agree with Yahyoh as well. Doesnt work on my G900F S5 as well. In fact, it if I select, say, 1 second shutter, the shutter appears to remain open for 1 second but there is no difference on picture quality.
Ya doesn't work. Manual speed doesn't really affect shutter times. The output is also limited to 2 MP. Would be nice to have a real option like in one plus one camera.
There's no shutter right now..
This thread might be one month old but still shows up on top of google when looking for samsung camera shutter speed, so I decided to clear some stuff up.
1. Manual shutter speed means that you can control how long your shutter is opened and thus affectt amount of light comming into it (= makes making night photos easier but might require a tripod).
2. Google added new camera api with Android 5.0. This API allows for manual shutter and shutter control and RAW file saving, HOWEVER phone maker must still update camera firmware for it to work.
3. Only few phones with Android older than 5 had those manual options, im speaking about those huge camera-phone hybrids like samsung galaxy camera for instance. So if you do not have android 5+ then there is NO real shutter control or focus control on your phone.
Now lets go to FV which is wonderful piece of software:
1. It is first android app to support Lolipops camera features, however for those features to work camera firmware must be upgraded.
2. Almost no one upgrade their camera firmware as of yet, FV manual options work only on Nexus5 and 6 at the moment. And this is a huge letdown and dissapointement. Another dissapointement is apathy from android community which does not seem what a great camera features they are missing because of oems lazyness.
3. If you do not have updated camera firmware then FV will enable a 'false' shutter mode, which is just capturing images from screen preview (thats why theres 2mp or so size limit) and then mixing them up together using image processing techniques - this is nowhere near how real shutter works.
4. Only time when you have a working shutter and manual focus is when you have android 5.0 phone with camera firmware that supports those changes, which are only few right now - nexus 5 and 6, maybe one or two other but for sure not our galaxy s5 ( I have s5 with official 5.0 and it does not have those features)..
I'm saying this from ex-windows phone user perspective, who is really dissapointed in how android develops at the moment. I've had windows phone and they have those features for at least 2 years now. (But then Nokia/MS used to practice dirty tricks as well, like in order to make new phones more appealing they reduce max/min possible shutter speeds on older phones).

but you cant make 1/8000s
its not real shutter speed, with proper shutter speed control as in a DSLR, the shutter opens and stays open for the time set, In FV5 is just takes a series of pictures very fast and stacks them, amounting to no difference in exposure, just blurriness.
So a 5 sec exposure in a very poorly lit environment still comes out near pitch black instead of properly exposed

Is it good for video recording?

Hey,
I'm thinking about buying the phone for mainly video recording.
I'd purchase a stabilizer gimbal with the phone, and use it 95% time in wide angle mode to record 4k videos.
As I don't yet have the phone it's hard for me to tell how good it is for that purpose, but I know that i'd definitely need the following things in video mode:
- turn inbuilt stabilizer off
- change exposures
- lock exposure
- manual ISO setting
- manual shutter speed would be nice, but not essential
- manual focus that stays focused on one place
- NO unnecessary focus hunting in automatic mode (God...that ruins so many videos!) - i hope the laser focus works here
These are usually fairly basic requirements for Photography mode, but sometimes they don't include these in video mode.
If they are not built in the default camera app, does other playstore camera app(like "Manual camera") work on the phone with these settings?
I currently have a Moto X Style that I love, but the video features are all automated and many of the above is locked
Thank you all for the answers

So even though there was no answer, I have went to a phone shop and tried it there. I found that in video mode manual settings are not possible at all, which is a big letdown for the G5.
I'm hoping at least that Open camera at least works on it. That should allow manual controls for video too. Has anybody tried it?
Hi!
Open camera is working fine. One of the few apps that also can use the wide angle camera!
When I want to record video with perfect audio I use my zoom h2n recorder as external mic and adjust the audio gain: perfect for rock concerts, etc.
Just buy a USB-C OTG adapter to USB 3.0 (normal size). Then connect the cable from the mic. At last - perfect audio!
the only advanced & working app I've found till date (which can EVEN change options during recording) is Cinema FV-5.
OpenCamera could be used too sometimes, if you dont have something better.
Ive mostly used 3rd party video apps with my G5, instead of the stock camera too, though its hard to find one that will use both lenses.

Gcam MOD G7 working on V40 (not everything)

Hey guys, last update of GCam for G7thinq working on out device! (not everything is working obviously).
Working:
- main camera with HDR
- wide angle
- portrait
- video at 1080p
- H265 video recording
- night sight (but lags)
Edit: apk with working wide angle (thanks to @Whoareyou)
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kQq...w?usp=drivesdk
Enable Add AUX
Now switching between front and back camera twice is your switch to wide angle and back!
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g7-thinq/themes/app-google-camera-gcam-lg-g7-thinq-t3855081
Cheers!
Here is an example of stock (top) vs Gcam (bottom). Gcam preserves more details (check bricks for example), and makes low light images a bit more clean overall.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/14j-1hnBAVNeIdqufDQP8F3UeH4swnZ7x/view?usp=sharing
The v40 has a very similar night mode, it just doesn't do much and conflicts with the flash. They seem to have tried but quit
I have an apk I found with working Wide angle but I am not sure which one it is (I've got a few in my downloads ?) I'll upload it here when I figure out which it is.
Edit: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kQqhAxvcDEQZN8MGu1Qg3WgtuiI7Cyex/view?usp=drivesdk
Enable Add AUX
Switch to wide angle:
Switch to ffc
Switch back to rear
It should now be using wide angle.
@Whoareyou great find man! Works well!
For unfamiliar folks, what makes Google Camera great is the software post processing, particularly Google's HDR, which I never turn off, and portrait - great results. Also somehow GCam manages to preserve more details compared to LG's camera. Now we have working wide angle, I can switch to GCam completely, at least for photos. Night sight working as well, we just have to deal with lag in viewfinder.

Thanks for the link, but am I missing something as far as fixing the extreme lag with the view finder and image capture? Between hitting the capture button and the actual image being taken is several seconds, and the viewfinder lag makes it very hard to use.
I have lag only in night sight mode.
Shutter button works only on second touch for me. And yes, GCam takes a moment to take a picture compared to stock camera, that's just how it works on on phone.

The viewfinder is laggy no matter what for me, and it takes much longer than a moment for the shutter button to register for me. Oh well, maybe I'll have better luck with some future modded APK. The camera that comes stock with the V40 is already pretty good, but having night sight and Google's HDR would be the cherry on top.

Camera: can't get temperature right

First, let me say I'm a camera dummy. This is the first phone I have that I try to take pics with. That said, I can't seem to get indoor shots right with this camera. Pics always too bright and too cool.
My room is well lit with florescent warm lights. But pics come out looking like I'm in a hospital room. Bright, cool. I'm in a hotel lounge right now. Plenty of light, not dim, but warm. Pics come out too bright, too cool.
I've tried using all the temp settings in the stock app. I've tried gcam 6, 7, hypercam. HDR off, on, enhanced. AI, no AI. Doesn't matter.
For reference, with a borrowed iPhone 10, default settings, point and shoot, pics come out looking like what my eyes see in same room. Okay, that's a much more expensive phone, obviously, but seeing posted pics I know this phone can take good pictures.
I'd appreciate any pointers. Thanks in advance
Stock camera HDR definitely produces "colder" pics comparing to gcam. Among gcam modes I've tried the most liked was Parrot's Astrophoto V12. Also I don't like elevated ISO of pics produced with stock camera HDR. Can you try Parrot's gcam with AWB mode set to IMX586 in Photo Advanced Settings?

. Can you try Parrot's gcam with AWB mode set to IMX586 in Photo Advanced Settings?

I downloaded the gcam from the link and made setting change as suggested. Unfortunately it did not make a big difference from the stock camera temp-wise. To make sure it's the camera and not the screen, I looked at the same photos on my OLED TV set to warm 2 (closest to D65), it's still skews blue.
Manually reducing exposure helps with brightness, but not so much the temp. HDR is kind of a mixed bag.
Maybe I just have wrong expectations of what a camera should be able to do lol
From my experience stock camera gets exposure and white balance pretty good (AI turned on), very close to what I see with a naked eye. Pretty much all Gcam apps take very cool and desaturated pictures on default settings. It needs quite a lot of tinkering to get them right, and even then stock camera produces more natural results. Stock HDR is a joke (at least in situations where I tried it). Gcam clearly wins in very low light, otherwise I use stock app exclusively.
I would advise to try manual WB settings in stock camera, but you already did that with no improvement (which sounds a bit strange to be honest), so not sure what else to suggest.
About the exposure - what Auto Exposure settings do you have? Mine is center weighted and works good. If there is a face in the photo, it gets priority and the rest of the photo might be under/overexposed, but that's the point of this feature.

You need to switch to pro mode.
Btw.manual white balance works only in certain gcam versions, more often than not it doesn't do anything. The most easy way is to try some "crazy" WB and tap to focus. If the screen doesn't change the color tint, you need to use different gcam version (or maybe change some low level gcam settings, but not sure which ones).
Edit: in Hypercam, enabling "focus tracking" breaks manual white balance settings. Without this feature white balance can be changed.

GCam

Anybody found a good GCam and config file for this phone yet. I'm using GCam_7.3.018_Urnyx05-v1.6 with the lg-g8sx-th config file and it's pretty decent but wondering if there's a better more compatible version.

I've been wondering how gcam works before pulling the trigger. Do you mind elaborating on "pretty decent"? What all works? I like the phone's camera, but I've seen instances in reviews where in auto mode it overexposes the highlights. I'd like a functioning gcam mod for when I don't want to go into manual mode

Sure, I'm by no mean a photo person and everybody have their preferences as far as photo goes but I found that with GCam the colors are more accurate and lighting and exposures looks better in most shots for me.
Downside with this particular version is that some features will crash the app still when you try to use it such as Nightsight and Portrait. It's a hit or miss and I find myself using the default camera app half the time, especially for video. The search continues.
I use a release by Pitbull that works fairly well. The bugs currently are no 4k or 60fps video recording, no video at all on wide lens (without clearing cache first), but no bugs I've found in selfies, portrait mode, or night sight mode. If you toggle the 4k button in the pulldown, the app will crash and no longer open causing you to clear data in storage and perform setup again, same with choosing Camera 3. Latest release does have support for configs though. In settings, sabre has to always be off. If it's on, all photos will crash. Also the option "disable openGL preview" needs to be toggled on to allow night sight to work properly under fixes.

In the screenshots, I circled the important settings. The first one is in main settings screen, the second is under fix settings screen. With these settings, and not choosing 4k or camera 3, app works great, especially photos. If you like gcam for pictures, you will like this one.

Hi, thank you for your recommendation, I just got my new LG v60 and your apk and Screenshot helped me get it working well, I wonder if you have a new version or any new updates on this Gcam for Lg V60
Thanks again.
To the top - trying to see if anyone has had any luck finding something that works decent.
I have tried the 8.x versions from Wichaya, Urnyx, with and without the LG G8(x) configs, to no avail.
The issues range from images saved as a corrupt file, to random blotches of red appearing in the photos, viewfinder getting locked when in Night Sight, and 0.5x camera not being there altogether.
The same thing. A lot of Gcam mods are kind of working on V60 but weird colours here and there is the problem Can't find properly working Gcam mod too.

Is anyone using any working Gcams for the V60 with configs? I would mainly use it for the front camera.
TIA
