Not in this universe. Seriously, Snapdragon version is a lot better than Exynos version. More performance, more efficiency, possibility to have porting of common apps like Google Camera. It's a shame that Samsung is selling us premium smartphones of class "A" and class "B". In Europe we can only buy Exynos versions, we pay them the same of Snapdragon versions and we have less things. It's just a shame.

No, if you root the phone exynos is better.
An unlocked S9 withe exynos 9810 is better than an snapdragon 855 (s10)

Yes and you lose everything. No Knox, no bank's services, no S Health. Definitely not convenient.

Exectly how is it better by simply unlocking the bootloader and rooting? By doing what though?
The snapdragon variants don't need to be rooted to get there full potential they're just there, plus we will lose the function of some apps if we root, camera quality is also better on the 855 because of the processor, so by rooting my exynos how does it make it better?

I'm sorry dude but you are totally wrong ! Exynos is shame compared to Snapdragon : perfs are lower, battery is worse, phone heats as hell... Definitely not a good variant of Samsung flagships ! Btw, in 2020, rooting is not as useful as when Samsung Experience / TouchWiz was running on Samsung phones... One UI has improved a lot over those old Samsung softwares, and that made root simply useless nowadays (my opinion)

Is Xiaomi Redmi Note better than SGS3?

Hello everyone,
I've had my sgs3 over a year now and enjoyed every bit of it. now im looking for a replacement but on cheaper side. it doesn't need to be a flagship and I mostly look for gamin and multimedia capabilities with best camera for the price. so I came across Xiaomi Note Enhanced version for about 200$ and it seems just about perfect. mainly Meadiatek 1.7Ghzx8 CPU, Mali-450 GPU with 2gb ram it seems like a steal. but Im afraid of what Im losing and what Im gaining.I have no expierince with MIUI evr. so if you can share your thought, Its much appreciated.
1. would MIUI run every droid game and apps like regular Android? (I know about xposed not working. but im concerned about TB, Greenify, SuperSU, Root Explorer.
2. It says Mali-450 is 1.4x improvement over Mali-400. but our SGS3 runs mali400mp4 and clocked 533. so how would this par?
3. I dont care about screen mirroring DLNA and stuff. but for sound quality I crave. so anyone have expierience with xiaomi sound, input will be a great help.
4. for the last, I would like to know your opinion as I think of giving my s3 to my gf if I got satisfied with Redmi Note. but of course never leave the forum sake of im a xda user who wouldn't use a phone in regular manner is it worth to give away s3 over this redmi note?
Thank you.
I just got the Redmi Note, maybe this will help you a little?

I'm planning to order mine this week, but little disappointment because no supports on XDA, have a question where do you get Xiaomi Redmi Note custom Roms? Thanks

Custom ROMs will be a problem since there aren't enough devs to port or build roms for that device.
And I've spoken to just 2 Xiaomi users and they don't like it at all. It's not just about the number of cores in the CPU or GPU. MTK is A-7 based and offers poor performance compared to A-9 or A-15 CPU.

Damn! such a bad news. My budget is $200 dollars and the lists of phones I have in mind are: Xiaomi Redmi Note,iOcean X7 Elite,THL T11 MTK6592 and Huawei Honor 3C Quad Core.. But like you see they all have MTK.... Sinse all have the same performance I was thinking to get one well known company better..
Go for redmi note. You, as a normal user, won't give rat's ass about a15, a9 etc. The a7 octa gives enough performance for everyday use. And miui is da bomb

I agree, good performance, and redmi note is a good phone

Hopefully you held off for the Note 2 it's @ 1.7GHz , not the 1.4 GHz the original note was at.
Development is centered at the MIUI site, go there for more info.
Over all the phone is fast, very fast, so fast you will only see the difference between the A9/17 or Snapdragon 800 8274AB 2.3GHz and the A7 by software measurements.
I'm deciding between the Note 2 and the THL 5000.
5½" and 3300mAh Vs 5" and 5000mAh
so at the end,
which smart phone did you buy ?
i already bought a Redmi Note
still enjoying it
Well... I have two units here just arrived...Almost everything work as it should, but I have problems making data connection working. Wi-fi works great, but data over mobile network doesn't want to work at all. I've checked out on both units using different SIM cards (from different providers). I have to mention that the SIM cards work using other phones. AND I have to say that didn't want to sign up yet for any of the xiaomi services (cloud and rest). It must be somewhere in MIUI a setting. MIUI is a customised version of Android.
For the price seems to be a good product.

there are 3 version of redmi note2 (which you probably have). One of them is made for China 3g networks and other is WSCDMA.
When battery is removed you can read which version you have (maybe it's not usable on your networks).
Bought redmi note recently and I can say that it feels faster that Samsung Note 2 (I have both phones).
xiaomi phones are not replacement but best phones
...in terms of hardware specs and value for money, looks is something personal. Why branded phones are very expensive are because of their marketing cost and the cost attached to the brand value. Other than that xiaomi phones are very good.
My cousin bought the Xiaomi Mi3 and i bought a Redmi 1S for my fiance and both the phones are awesome and have very good camera and sound quality.
I have been using Galaxy S3 since 2012, and let me tell you I have been using MIUI Rom even before on my Sony Xperia X10, so as I got my S3 i rooted it and installed MIUI rom.
Yes, all your apps and games will run without any problem as it is Android, every manufacturer have their own version of Launcher and apps to differentiate their phones. What made me fall in love with MIUI were its native apps and features (like call recording which is available only when rooting, but in Xiaomi phones this is built in), and themes (you can change everything to your liking with one click- the dialer, messaging, statusbar, wallpaper, bopot animation, lockscreen, font, etc. or change each individually, and their themes are awesome).
I would suggest you to go for Xiaomi Mi3 if it suits your budget. But if you already have Samsung Galaxy S3 and if its performing good enough, then no point buying a phone with similar hardware. I am waiting for Mi4 to launch in India. Its a kickass phone (google it).
keep 'em both
Got both phones. Still love my SGS3 for the customizations.
More Redmi Note ROMs here:
http://en.miui.com/thread-26132-1-1.html
flashed mine with the ported Color OS. performed better than the original MIUI OS. you could also try the AOSP ROM faux 4.4.2 (actually its just 4.2.2) seem nice. i just dont like the developer switched the main storage for the external and so on..

[Urgent] Note 4x MTK or Snapdragon?

I'm getting my hands on Note 4x (tomorrow) MTK (MT6797M) since I catch a great deal with it, but looking at the devs forum here...
MTK get less love compared to its Snapdragon counterpart. Im planning to tweak my unit a bit, so it'll be hard if I encounter issues with MTK.
Should I cancel this purchase and downgrade to 3GB/32 Snapdragon from 4G/64 MTK?
:halppls:
Yeah! If you're into tweaking and tinkering, snapdragon variant got much love.

In addition to that performance on MTK variant of Redmi-note-4 is better than snapdragon variant.

In my opinion, if you are going to buy a Xiaomi phone, you should always get one with a Snapdragon chipset. It will save you much angst down the road.
Snapdragon
Go for it
Snapdragon is much better. My friend is using 4X MTK version. He told me it drained battery and always overheated. The plus of MTK version is only the benchmark (higher than SD version),the screen quality and build quality. I've just ordered 4X SD version and it will be arrived in some days.
MTK no, worste gps, drain battery.
Snapdragon is better
Aha, that's right. MediaTek 20nm process Soc I do not recommend buying, Qualcomm 808 810 is a good example. MediaTek note 4x although there are 4gb RAM but MediaTek X20 processor heat terror. You can go to MIUI China Forum to see, complained that MediaTek version of the heat, cut off a lot of people. They all regret to buy the MediaTek version of the redmi note 4x.
In my opinion, Qualcomm 625 can be regarded as a real high with version!

Hi. What exactly do you mean by screen quality and build quality? I thought both variants are exactly the same except for the SOC used?

I noticed MTK version has a better screen brightness. Try watching the same movie on both phones. Also I think MTK version has better build by holding both phones. Maybe it's just my feelings. [emoji14]

I have 2 Note 4X MTK version, bought for the 64gb/4gb feature. Battery is good, does not overheat too. Of course, I don't play cpu-intensive games, only 1 game, Clash Royale.
I don't know about the Snapdragon, but I'm happy with the MTK. I just installed the developer build of MIUI 9 on one, and battery lasts even longer, power saving on permanently.

Importig Galxy S9+ and a few questions

I live in the UK and I want to import the Galaxy S9+ mainly because its £250 cheaper ($350) and because it has the Snapdragon 845. I actually like emulating GameCube games and PS2 and the Mali G72 sucks even compared to the Adreno 540 and obviously the Adreno 630 will be better. My questions are:
1. Does the Snapdragon variant see any developments, how was if for the S8+?
2. I will be getting imoerting a HK model so can the bootloader be unlocked.
3. Can I flash a non branded UK firmware on it?
4. Any support for Project Treble on SD 845 variant?
5. Any difference of the camera quality? I read a random comment somewhere the Exynos takes better phots?
6. I guess I wont be covered by Samsung UK for warranty?
Thanks
Really need some help guys
1. not really much, Exynos got best development
2. NO
3. May be Yes, but i doubt, risk is upon you. remember to download office snapdragon firmware first in case of anything bad
4. it doesn't depend on version. it is same fo both Exynos and snapdragon
5. NO, same hardware, it could a misinterpretation. Exynos processor is little bit better than snapdragon in benchmarks but as far as i know it has minimum to no effect on camera quality
6.NO
You should be able to unlock the G9650 bootloader for Chinese variant. See this thread for S8 with more info on this topic:
3 more questions:
Does Google camera work on SD 845 variant
To use Project Treble, does the bootloader need unlocking?
Doesn't the SD variant get bootloader unlocking officially a few months later or never based on how it was for S8
Google camera app may work with SD845 but in my experience in the past, the native app worked the best. USA SD variant doesn't get bootloader unlock ever unfortunately... Engineering bootloader may get leaked at some point(for limited root access) but historically, the Engineering bootloader has had issues like battery charging only up to 80% and phone overheating etc.

Help needed regarding S9+

I want to buy a new S9+ and i need help from you guys.
1- Which one is better Snapdragon 845 or exynos 9810 in term of battery timing ?
2- Is there are any issue in S9+ hardware. Relating to screen or other ? This will help me to decide whether i purchase the phone with Warranty or without warranty.
3- If i want to use third party Rom or mods then which one is better in term of software development (SD 845 or Exynos 9810) ?
4- If i unlock my boot-loader then what are the things i will lost forever ?
For example i am a Sony user and if we unlock bootloader of xperia device then we will lost DRM keys, low light camera picture quality + X reality engine + Hi-Res Audio and other.
5- Should i buy S9+ or any other device ? recommendation ?

Based on numerous posts the Snapdragon variant has better battery life per charge and isn't prone to overheating.
I'm not aware of any hardware issues on the S9+ but that doesn't mean you'll never have a problem.
There are custom ROM's for Snapdragon but more available for Exynos variants.
Once you flash with a custom ROM you'll lose the warranty, Knox Security, Samsung Pay and Samsung Health.

1. I've heard that the Snapdragon variant performs better in benchmarks, battery life department, etc.
2. I haven't heard of any glaring hardware problems but like the post above, everyone's phone is a different case.
3. Only very select variants of the SD-845 models can achieve unlocked bootloaders and the ability to flash ROMs while the Exynos variant can be rooted once the OEM unlock option appears.
4. Once you unlock your bootloader and root I believe that things like Samsung Pay, warranty, and the option to use services like Adhell 3 don't work since Knox is triggered.
5. If you don't mind receiving Android updates a bit later down the line after Pixel devices then I'd say the S9+ is fine. I've been heartily enjoying my Exynos SM-G965F/DS a lot!
Thanks to all for reply.
I purchase a non warranty S9+ G965F/DS Exynos variant

Logic board swap (G965U1 to G965F) possible?

Hey XDA, made the choice to buy an S9 Plus, amazing phone, love the hardware but a bit sad that I ended up with the Snapdragon based G965U1 model.
I wanted to know if it's possible to swap the logic board directly for one that has the Exynos chipset?
Any help appreciated kindly!
