Yes, that's the forum we're in lol. But different carriers sometimes decide to take settings out. On my moms Note 9 AT&T, she doesn't have the Hotspot option but on my sons same phone on T-Mobile, it's there.

How to quickly access "Phone Info" to toggle 2g/3g

Download Any Cut from the market and make a shortcut. Choose "Activity" and scroll down to Phone Info, pick that. Voilà!
"GSM Only" is 2g, "GSM Auto (PRL)" will prefer 3g where available. You don't need 3g unless you're using the data connection, it eats the battery away.

Great tip, thank you

That does randomly happen, I think if you try to use data after longer inactivity (after you were using Wifi for example), it might revert to 3g. Certainly after a reboot though, the standard option seems to be Auto.
Easy enough to change with the shortcut though!

I have the same problem, I am not on AT&T though, I am on bell
Edit: It's actually working now... I have reset my phone since I last tried, as I was having a different issue... however I don't think bell offers 2G???... at least not on my phone, because I get no service... There is a feature built into the phone that allows me to choose if I want "auto", "2G", or "3G"... and when I change it to "2G" same thing happens, no service... not able to call/text (not just no data as would be expected)
Woa, guys! I read somewhere (here on XDA) that there's basically no 2g anymore in Canada, that would be the reason..?

Yeah, that's most likely it, oh well, I guess I am going to have to suffer through always having data hahaha... My battery life is good enough for me anyways!
It isn't that much of an issue if you always get a full 3g signal, you need to be changing to 2g when you're in areas with bad reception. Either way though, I never use 3g unless I need a fast data connection.

Ooow, I'm afraid I don't know the answer to that. Did you try to do a factory reset?

I bought it in unlocked condition. But I got 'accident' while using the "AnyCut" application. I touched the "USA Band" (the only option) while selecting radio band. And now I can't get any of indonesia band.

You should probably flash the 1.2.6 SBF and bring it back to its original state

Strange, mine does. Try rebooting and setting it on GSM again after that.

Could you please share your APN settings? I have tried several of them, but none of them worked for me. Thank you very much!
You would need to get the correct settings from at&t.

Why not just post them? AT&T doesn't help on International phones

I am not on AT&T so how can I post them, a quick phone call or email to AT&T and you'd be set. It is not a matter of what type of phone APN settings are like DNS settings, all phones need them, just some have them built in but some don't.
Ok. Sorry about that. I finally got my 5.8 to work awhile ago.

You need to define the APN. It's strange your att SIM wasn't automatically recognized and the apn settings loaded. I have a 7 year old att SIM and when I put it in my Mega it automatically loaded the wap.cingular APN settings and I had to take no action on my part to enable 3G data.
I am on media net so your data plan maybe different than mine and that could be the difference on why the mega didn't auto define your APN settings.
Here's what I'm pulling down on media net HSPA.

[Q] Need some help getting 3g working again

I got my Verizon S4 off of Swappa from a guy who was nice enough to set it up for PagePlus for me. I recently updated to 4.3 and my 3g stopped working. How can I fix this issue? I’d like to learn how to fix this myself so I can do it again when I upgrade to 4.4. Thanks!

Not sure how that works with Page plus, but do you have the correct network mode selected in settings? CDMA/LTE/EVDO

T-mobile Data Plan Does not work on your phone

I just got my new phone back as they sent a replacement and I put my sim card in my phone and I changed my apn settings maybe they are wrong but I have tried many things on the internet I have seen. It worked on my other z ultra.
So you do not have an option that automatically set that up for you?
Like on my phone I clicked on MORE under Wireless and Networks then Internet Settings and it found providers for me then I click ATT and done.
It was a surprising option that I really like but not sure if that is on yours too.

Downgrade from 5.0.1. to 4.4.4.

Is there anyway to downgrade? I have a tmobile sim in the phone, and the Lollipop update broke the ability to text. I either to need to fix the texting issue, or downgrade.
Thanks,
Eric.
If you got to 5.0.1 via the OTA, there is no way to go back.

That's a bummer, so then that leads to the secondary, is there any way to fix Texting from other carriers, that aren't Verizon? I'm using google messenger.
Maybe it's a APN setting?
Thanks.

just found out a workaround ... download app called Advance Signal Status from play store, and change your Network setting in the app to WCDMA ... everything should work. I know you will not get LTE, but H+ is good enough for speeds, atleast for tmobile.
