Android Q firmware breaks device navigation and kills some satellites. - LG V30 Questions & Answers

After the firmware on Androd Q, I had a problem, when I turned off Wi-Fi, then the smartphone rebooted. After that, I rolled back to Androd P, and noticed that part of the satellite ceased to be detected, namely, the satellites ceased to be visible to the device: Galileo, BEIDOU, QZSS, SBAS. Now the smartphone sees only GPS and GLONASS satellites.
I tried to fix it with firmware using LGUP, it was stitched on Nougat, Oreo, Pie, but nothing helped.
Who had similar problems with WiFi on Android Q, please write if your smartphone was looking for Galileo, BEIDOU, QZSS, SBAS satellites now.
My Device H930DS

Here's what the satellite map should look like on a normal device.

No, it does NOT.
I'd suggest, be sure you are comparing apples to apples before disparaging the hard work of the rom builders.
I have 2 ls998's. The following screenshots are of one running los 17.1 and the other is running the latest us998 kdz (it is not rooted). Using the same app as you did, the following are the gps sat results:
The numbers vary slightly from second to second, but are essentially identical. Although they do not have the number of satellites your "suppose to look like" image has (which appears to be Russian!!), there is one undeniable fact here, my 2 phones have identical results, one is running oem OS, one is using Q firmware (the only Q firmware available for these devices - LOS).
And the results is, as said, the same. So please stop disparaging these roms, as has been said to you in other threads, myself and others are not experiencing the issues you are, that right there should tell you 'You're barking up the wrong tree'.
Your issues are NOT the fault of the rom.

Stock rooted Oreo 20h native Open Market US998. Never had any custom ROMs installed.
23 "in view", 14 "in use"
2nd screenshot shows my satellite filter settings.
Third screenshot with a few more satellites is after 5 minutes open. It does show a few more in use" (18) but still the same number (23) "in view".
Not sure where your Russian screenshot was sourced. LG phone? What model? What firmware? It's the one that doesn't seem normal.

Why do you say this is what the LG V30 should look like? Is this from an LG V30 or some internet image you found?

I say this because I worked through navigation in this device, and I always saw 5 types of satellites, the best result of which I had in the summer in the forest - 54 satellites, of which I connected to 23. The results were taken in 10 minutes and the point was determined with an accuracy of several tens of centimeters. This smartphone more accurately determines the position than the garmin oregon sports navigators.

You can close this topic, I don’t know what the problem is, but after several firmware I see all the satellites except the European navigation system Galileo

Where did you even get Q for the V30? That stupid Potato thing that hasn't updated since last year?

Potato "Android 10" was updated a few days ago.
It's not Q. It's Android 10. Call it "10" if you're lazy, just like Android 11 -- or "11".
Q was the technically the beta firmware, which became just "Android 10", since Google ditched the dessert names. Just like you don't call Oreo "O", or Pie "P", you don't call Android 10 "Q". Those were the beta letters before the firmware graduated to official public release and got a statue to commemorate. "Android 10" became the official name, with a statue.
All AOSP LOS-17.X ROMs are based on Android 10.
See the ROMs section. LOS-17.X is there a well as Havoc 3.x and Android 10 Potato. Those are all AOSP Android 10 ROMs. Havoc and Potato use LOS-17 as a base but add more features/options.

[Discussion] Android 9/Pei update for V10 - Beta started in China

While checking I found this URL -
which claims that Android 9.0 update has been rolled out to few test users in China (closed beta group) which indicates we may soon expect the Android 9 hitting a stable release in China followed by global release.
Highlight from GizChina article-
president of Huawei’s mobile phone product line, He Gang, revealed that Huawei Mate 10 Pro, Huawei P20, Honor 10, and Honor V10 models have simultaneously started Android 9 Pie beta testing. He further stated that Huawei’s engineers are already working hard to perfect the system.
According to Huawei’s pollen club’s announcement, the above-mentioned models pushed an internal test version to a small number of pollen users on August 6. The official internal testing recruitment activities for the majority of pollen users will commence as soon as the update is ready.

According to Google, the new Android 9 Pie has two major upgrades. The first is its support for the recently popularized notch. In the developer mode, the Android 9 Pie system can simulate the notch and optimize the notification bar.
Secondly, the system efficiency is optimized which means that Android 9 Pie takes a shorter time to launch apps and the overall performance is better. At the same time, Android 9 Pie also displays the idle applications using the phone microphone, camera, and other sensors. The security of Android 9 Pie is better than the previous versions.

Are you talking about EMUI or the actual version of Android?
The OP is speaking of Android Pie & I'm almost certain all Honor View 10's have been updated to Android 8.1........ Even if Huawei isn't tops in updates, I'd be surprised if this phone doesn't get Android 9.0.
I'd dare say we'll see it on this phone before any Samsung device, but, then again, that's not saying much, LOL....

Just asking because the version I have (BKL-L04) has EMUI 8.0,but,is on Android 8.1:

Yeah,I get that, was just checking that we were talking about the version of Android, not the version of EMUI.
I'm in agreement 100%,there is absolutely no reason for the fragmentation of Android versions on what is virtually the same exact phone.

As far as Huawei / Honor is concerned, EMUI 8 has most changes found in Android 8.1 and also the Co. views the incremental updates as a major update. Their phones get two major Android updates and all phones released in 2018, whether with Android 8.0 or 8.1 would directly be updated to Android 9

That may be true, but,it still doesn't explain why the European version is on Android 8.0 & the NA version is on Android 8.1.
It may not matter to you, but, right or wrong,it matters to the end user.
Why give the impression that Huawei values some regions over others, especially on the same device?
It leaves a bad taste in the mouth & may cause some current owners to look elsewhere for their next phone purchase.
Especially w/Huawei's recent climb in market share,it also gives the impression that they don't have to worry about how the end user thinks or feels about their phone.
Along w/the recent policy change regarding the bootloader unlock, those are two areas of great concern to perhaps a small, but, very vocal community of users.......just something to think about.....
While I'm satisfied w/my Honor View 10,I can state it's the last Huawei device I purchase, unless Huawei changes their stance on locked bootloaders................

I get your point and I feel the same regarding the bootloader unlocking, but from Huawei's point of view, an unlocked bootloader just stands in their way of already rising security concerns of US and EU on Huawei. Regarding them releasing the same device with different android versions in different markets, it poses an issue only to a small group of people and I agree that it is wrong to other users, but we've been complaining about different regional firmware on Huawei devices since EMUI 4, but they have only turned a cold shoulder. A single international firmware (apart from their Chinese one) would help in faster software updates to all devices.

Your last statement is the head-scratcher(as to why there's not a universal Int'l firmware...................admittedly,Huawei isn't alone here, other mfgs are guilty of the same practice.
If the carriers are involved,as in the US,with their own bloat/etc....... I have to give 'em (Huawei & others) the benefit of the doubt.
If I could disable & re-enable Phone Manager at will w/o root,or,any other system apps (ADB allows for removal, but,a factory reset is needed to bring it back),I could forgo root on this phone.....
EMUI 4,I guess that goes back a ways,LOL,I had a long gap between Huawei Devices : OG Huawei Ascend m860 w/CM7 & some of the more current Huawei/Honor devices.
Have a great weekend! :good:

I really don't get Carrier based devices as the specific distribution channel really doesn't work well in Asian markets (I'm from India). I'd really wish if Huawei / Honor took the Oneplus route with a single firmware internationally. Oneplus beats Huawei / Honor in terms of software update reputation mainly because of their ease of updating their devices worldwide. I'd also like to get an android one version of Honor flagships. That'd be great, don't you think?

I wonder why you and other people thinks bootloader unlocking has something to do with the US and EU security concerns, when it should be the other way around.
If you think about it, it's the other way around, meaning that with an unlockable bootloader, security researchers, NSA, CIA, you name it, could investigate on what's happening under the hood, while with a locked bootloader all this it's very hard to crack.
US was never concerned about Huawei devices being easy to crack because their bootloader can be unlocked, but their concerns were about China spying on US citizens, government, etc. Same goes with EU.
What would help Huawei, is open sourcing their chipset, being more transparent to the eye of the security researchers and developers, not closing their system even more.

Your comment hammers home my point, the phone was released elsewhere 1st & stands to reason that earlier adopters would have 8.1 before the newer regions.
The explanation given earlier ,that the latest EMUI has all the features of Android 8.1,regardless of which version of Android you're running,is illogical.
If that's the case, then why would Huawei bother with an updated version of Android on one region & not others.
It's crazy,so,that is why one with a model running Android 8.1 would make the assumption the other regions are on the same version......
Yes,I'm sure it's been discussed here in other threads & I've missed that discrepancy, obviously, until now.
I have no complaints w/the phone, one of the best overall I've owned, especially with the price of admission,so,I haven't had the need to read every thread & response.......

EMUI 9 For Honor 9

Will the honor 9 get EMUI 9? Various reports differ.
They previously said honor 9 will get pie in a second wave.
First wave, for honor 10 / P20 and some others, is now advertised to be coming this weekend, at least for chinese firmwares.
I'd predict q1 of 2019

At least in Germany, maybe more european regions, a Beta is starting today, called DE-Honor9-EMUI9-FUT.
Seems to be limited to 200 users.
Same in Italy with a different name
So, the 200 slots for the German project are filled, now i am curious how this will work out.
Wonder if this is where we start to see project treble being used by honor on the 9

Treble is being used. That's how I actually go a security update in the month it was issued. (377 on the 28th).

Is the image available somwere and is it possible to install without being a member of the beta group?
well I'm #2 in BETA-Slot and I'm still on "pending", didn't receive beta update yet.
I too had a very early slot (<10) in the beta-project, but right now i cannot even see it in "avaiable projects" anymore, which is a bit strange.
in what firmware you were before entering the beta program? i´m on 377 and the beta doesn´t appear to me.
I was on 377 too ... and unluckily, i still am.
The FR friendly user test also just disappeared from the Beta app. Currently 26 participants so I thought I would be in today
As for me, the (German) Beta still shows in the app, also the message that I applied and it's now on waiting for approval... which will probably never gonna happen, as it says, the 200 slots are already full.

I'm curious to see if this device and devices which got upgraded to Treble by Huawei will receive more updates than usual (2 major versions on high end/1 version in midrange-low end). If they will continue to follow the old trend, EMUI9 with Android 9 is the last major version upgrade this device will see from Huawei. After the bootloader fiasco they should support at least another major version, to make up for the inconvenience, but we are talking about a chinese money making machine, which only cares about money, so will see.

Considering the Honor 9 being a midrange product, i assume, the now coming second major update already is the "benefit" of project treble. I doubt a third one will reach us, but i would not mind being wrong on that point.

Is anyone still using the Mi Pad 2?

Hello, I still have my Mi Pad 2 (16GB) laying around and i've been thinking about replacing its battery and then install some sort of alternative OS such as Ubuntu, Chrome OS, Android x86 etc... I saw some topics here and on other websites but only a few people actually got those OS's working but didn't provide any instructions whatsoever.
Is someone still interested in this device? If so, any help and support would be appreciated.
Yes, I am still using it. I had already replaced the batteries once.

I'm also willing to try Windows 10 2004, but a lightweight version because my Mi Pad 2 is the 16GB version. How did you install that on yours? With a USB dongle with USB stick and keyboard like a regular computer?
Also, how did you improve heat dissipation?
By the way, does anyone know if it's possible to desolder the eMMC and replace it with a high capacity one? Like 64 or 128GB?
I still use my Mi Pad 2, mainly for reading. But been looking into bringing up Android N to this tablet (there is at least one Intel Atom nougat kernel source available, which might come in handy) and also around 3-4 different tablets running Nougat on Intel Atom (so we can try to use those blobs). Bliss OS is an option as well (as per the guide(s) on this forum). One approach could be to assist the Bliss OS team in squashing the bugs for the Mi Pad 2. If you want to discuss this further, feel free to let me know.

I'm a bit "desperate" to have a good OS available for this device because otherwise it's basically a paper weight for me. Have you ever tried the AOSP rom (it's seems to be a developer rom from Xiaomi) for Mi Pad 2?
I'm currently using MIUI 9.6.2.0 Mod from LVware it's working fine.
The only Android N kernel source for Cherry Trail devices available is the Grandstream GXV3380 http://www.grandstream.com/support/resources/?title=GXV3380 (scroll down to GXV3380 GNU GPL). Grandstream writes its rom is Android 7 based, so the kernel source must be Nougat based (I only write this, because a Cherry Trail nougat source has never been released, so this is huge. I even think it is able to compile based on the archive contents). I only came by this by searching for Cherry Trail devices on Geekbench Browser. Would like to compare this kernel source to the Lollipop Mi Pad 2 one.
In terms of an Android Marshmallow Cherry Trail kernel source, I could only find the Panasonic Toughpad Android 6 (PANASONIC FZ-A2A): https://panasonic.net/cns/oss/tabletcomputer/FZB2D001.html .. It's worth mentioning that Amazon has made the Amazon Echo Show (2nd Gen) kernel source available as well (5.5.3.9-20200618.tar.bz2), but I think it's Lollipop based: https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?ie=UTF8&nodeId=201626480 (scroll down to Echo Show (2nd Generation). The Nougat kernel source might be released, as the latest software version available is 655636620 (https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201602210) and according to Wiki the 6.x.x.x builds are Nougat based. I know it's confusing, you can read more about it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fire_OS#cite_note-4
In terms of blobs, there are plenty of devices to borrow from. Medion has 4 tablets that have been updated from Lollipop -> Marshmallow -> Nougat. The same with Getac, which has two models the MX50 and the ZX70. Lenovo has a few Cherry Trail devices as well upgraded to Nougat, which can be borrowed from.

Yep, I've tried the AOSP ROM but it gets really slow after a bit. It's almost impossible to multitask because it can't handle more than 2 apps. Never heard about that MIUI ROM though, do you have a link for it? is it good?
About the sources i'll be completely honest. I have limited expertise on this subject but seeing all that makes me think that it's not that impossible to make a good ROM for our device (am i wrong?), so what's limiting us? People with knowledge? More sources? What's the next step?

holy ****ing **** I know exactly what you mean. windows 8 does it. windows 8 is great.
i've been messing with 8 on it, and it's literally orgasmicly good. 10 is still my main OS because some drivers are missing, but the whole of it works really well.
oh, and using gibson's inspectre.exe to disable spectre and meltdown protections was THE thing to finally get the performance that seemingly disappeared. thats because it did disappear! also seems to help with RAM usage enormously
and I cut the plastic insulator between the motherboard and the rear case. filled in the gap with a thermal pad pretty much right on the CPU. 2.24 GHz base clocks now baby!
and this CPU is around a 7W TDP for anyone wondering. intel says 2W SDP, I say 4W SDP is probably closer to reality. 2W is at the base 1.44 GHz tho, but mine is at 2.24 GHz all the time.
I still have my 2GB RAM 16GB internal MiPad2 and working with shortened battery life and some limited app functionality (G.Play doesn't work/update for eg).
I want to use it primarily as a book/manga reader as well as a media player of sorts.
I saw the recommended custom ROMs list here but any advice on which is ideal for this device based on its limited hardware?

i installed a light version of windows 10 on mine and it works surprising well. I have around 8gb to play with
That's cool! Performance is ok?
So would app installation then be via the Microsoft Store or can you still install via Google Play?
Are the instructions for the Windows 10 Lite flashing detailed somewhere on this forum?

Hello,
can you really install Windows 10 on Mipad 2 2 / 16Gb based on Android?
I have a Mipad 2 2/64 based on Android, and I want to replace it with Windows 10, would you like to share the method with me?
I still use this little tablet as a second screen/device playing video's on the desk when im working on my laptop. The screen is still really nice: bright and crisp. Mine has Windows 10 installed which is barely useable, usually everything feels kinda slow, but it does work. The biggest problem was that it thermal throtteled after normal use, so what helps is if you do a cooling mod. It's not that hard, I cut a square out of the shroud thats covering the CPU and placed a thick thermal pad over the CPU so it touches the outer metal housing. This greatly improved CPU/GPU performance and solved the thermal issue. The housing doesn't even get that hot when you stress the tablet. It now plays video's no problem all day long, where it would stutter after while without the mod...
Don't expect any miracles though, it's still an Atom with a slow eMMC drive and only 2GB of RAM. Windows is just too heavy for it sometimes. A newer version of Android would probably be a better fit. What also helps is if you debloat Windows a little: https://github.com/W4RH4WK/Debloat-Windows-10

Performance is fine i guess. I think it gave a new life to my Mi Pad 2 even though i haven't been using it lately. App instalation is via Microsoft Store of course, or via .exe installers just like a PC.
I'm wondering if it will be possible to install Windows 10X on it. That would be very cool.
As for the instructions, i used an old tutorial from the Xiaomi forums to change from Android to Windows and then I installed that Windows 10 lite from Ghostspectre using a USB stick just like a regular PC

That's right, my 2/16 Mi Pad 2 is running Windows 10.
I found the link for the tutorial. Sadly it's offline, but Wayback Machine can open it just fine, except the pictures. Surprisingly, the download link is still online too but it's pretty big (7 gigs).
If anyone needs that, i can send the two links through PM

Question Android 12 Update

I have read through multiple outlets the Galaxy Tab a7 lite is due for the android 12/OneUI 4 update. Has anyone received it yet? I saw it was due sometime between June-August 2022.

Hi, I already update to Android 12 and there are not many visual changes because of the One UI layer, but I wanted to ask if you know anything about an update to Android 12L, I wish you could have an interface like the stock one. Greetings to all from Latam
OMG, there are few thing i hate android 12, one ui 4
first no way to turn off RAM plus, this device only 32GB, now force use RAM plus
second half of app when tap back, it act like we press home key, keep running at background, so some app will not refresh when open back
third, samsung keyboard no more do spell check, that option is missing
and what the point show date on top of screen? i know can turn off
How is the overall update experience with A12 ?
I'm still on A11 don't know why but A12 on this chipset is something I'm just waiting for something to flag this overall update as unstable

I downloaded it in the USA this monday. Apps and web pages seem to load a bit more smoothly and quickly, in my experience. I haven't noticed any other differences, but I haven't hunted for them, and I'm using Nova Launcher, which may be hiding any potential cosmetic changes.

LG Wing in Europe still on Android 10 while USA is already on Android 12???

I stumbled on this article:
LG surprises with Android 12 update containing June 2022 security patch for LG Wing
LG has begun upgrading the Wing to Android 12, seven months on from the device's last OS update. Android 12 brings several changes to the device and contains the latest set of Android security patches. Rolling out in South Korea first, Android 12 is over a 1.5 GB download and is the LG Wing's...

So apparently some Wings are already on Android 12!
I just bought an unlocked carrier free LG Wing (LM-F100EMW) in Germany and it says it is up to date with Android 10 with a 1 July 2021 Security Patch Level?
Why is there such a discrepancy in release dates?
Strange. I wouldn't sweat it. 10 is better version anyway. Another from 9 or higher is secure enough unless you do something stupid.
Well, I did some digging and found this thread:
LGUp 1.16.3 Patched Found and Works with LG Wing
Honestly found it on XDA of all places after looking for it all night What does 1.16 give us that 1.14 doesn't? Everything honestly. Could not get my Wing recognized to flash with 1.14. No 1.15 Patched exists either We can downgrade with...

And the firmware here:
List Firmware KDZ of LG Wing 5G / LMF100EMW

And I managed to flash Android 11.
Can you flash back to 10? I am in the US and no update to 12 yet
Just received Android 12. So far seems to be working well. Have some nice added features, mainly seems to be more polished than 11. Another cool feature is that it shows you with a Green Dot indicator by the battery when you're camera and/or microphone is on.

Seems pretty snappy. Window, transitions, notification pull Downs, notification previews are all prettier. I would say I'm pleased with Android 12. Battery life seems to be as good or better also!
So I ordered a F100N to use in Scandinavia. And I heard they've come further than the US versions. Just wanted to know if it could be upgraded to Android 12? Or even 13?
LG Wing Android 12 updates has bugs. I am not able to open Wi-Fi settings and other sensors stopped working. After a hard reset it worked for 3 weeks but again same problem. Even after installing new patch with 5G support my Wing in unable to connect to Wi-Fi.
