Phone being unresponsive and black screen - Sony Xperia XZ1 Questions & Answers

Description
Sometimes, apparently in a random manner, after a period of time being idle (in my pocket or on the table) the phone becomes unresponsive to any inputs (power button, fingerprint reader) and the screen stays black.
Symptoms
Black screen, no response to input on physical buttons.
Only one way to get out of this is, hard reset using volume up and power which will eventually reboot, but it'll give me Sony logo then a black screen with white wrench triangle then powers off then on again and directly to boot animation then it's on and working again.
Any ideas why it keep doing this ?

[Q] Black screen, touch-responsive, vibrates but does not display anything...

I'm having a really strange issue with my gear fit:
1. Screen is black
2. Screen responds to touch(!) - I unpair the device and pair it again, when i press the left(top) part of the screen (confirmation button) it stops vibrating...
3. I am able to turn it off and on but the screen is still black (Samsung logo does not appear)
4. Bluetooth works fine
5. Kies3 also recognizes the device
6. It happened randomly a few times - the screen turned on and was responsive to touch but when i try to do anything it freezes and goes black again. I noticed that I can even change the wallpaper and clock through the Gear Fit Manager. I thought that it could be just the screen issue but I've never dropped it and as I mentioned - it responds to touch.
This problem appeared out of nowhere - I've left the watch (turned off) for a month on my desk, the battery was at 40% today, tried to turn it on and...
Due to the screen failure I cannot put it in the download/recovery mode. Is there a way to do it with screen off?
I know it's stating the obvious but have you done a full reset on it? (Hold the button down, a good 8 seconds, until it forces it to reboot)

Click to collapse
Just my 2 cents,I had to hold it down more like 20 seconds, way more than seems logical.
From my Galaxy Note 2
Has there been an answer to this because I've been having the same issue with mine for about 4 months. As stated before, it turns on but screen stays blank but I know it's working because it vibrates after I turn it on. Mine is a international one.
possibly a screen defekt? was the same thing with my when i rip it apart

Phone won't boot up, screen stays black only vibrate

Hello all,
When i try to boot my phone, there is only a vibrate but the screens stays off (not black, there is no backlight, the screen doesn't turn on).
Except when i press power + volume up, then i get the screen to go to recovery, fastboot, or boot normal but it doesn't matter which i choose, after that the screen goes off again.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Luckily i swapped phones a day before it broke so i wouldn't lose important files but it would be nice to be able to recover them.
Thanks in advance!

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge black screen, blue light flashing

I have experienced the dreaded Samsung screen of death, 6 days ago I received a text and saw the blue flashing notification light but minutes later when i picked up the phone, the screen was black and not responsive. I have tried every hard and soft reset option, from holding power button and volume buttons to holding all 4 buttons at the same time but nothing has worked. Does anyone have any other suggestions before i send it away for repair? Will allowing the battery to die have any effect? The light is still flashing six days later.
Try to enter in recovery mode (Phone must be off, then hold volume up, home and power)
Look for message on the bottom on the screen
Did you see any unnormal message, like "error" or something?
If you can't turn off the phone, then restart him, holding for min. 7 seconds volume down and power. If you see a screen reaction, then quickly hold the "recovery mode" sequence.

Galaxy Tab S3 (SM-T820) Black Screen (even after factory reset)

Good evening folks,
I am in need of help. I've been having issues with my tab S3 (SM-T820) for the last month or so. I notice that when i let the device charging over night, after i disconnect it, the screen goes black. I know the device is on, since the button lights are active. I've performed forced reboots (holding power + volume down buttons), and screen remains black, but device is on. I've performed hard resets via the odin software and the firmware, and yet the screen remains black (again, device on, button lights on). If i connect the device to a charger, when the screen is black, the screen turns starts displaying a black "speckled" display (black screen with color dots everywhere). When i see that, i start pressing the power button, turning the screen on and off continuously, until i finally get the screen to appear. Problem is that once i turn off the screen (not the device), again the screen will go to black and not appear anymore, until i keep messing with the power button again. I'm finally at lost since i sent the device to squaretrade for warranty support, and they keep sending it back as repaired (all they did was a factory reset, which is what i have done via the Odin software). Any idea on what to try next? I have though about disassembling the device and verifying the display cable is correct, but just seems irrelevant that it could be a hardware issue since eventually the screen does come on again (after trying countless of times), plus, i don't know how to disassemble this thing. Any ideas or recommendations?
Thank you in advance

After splash screen, screen blank but phone sinks with BT & capacitive lights active

After splash screen, screen blank but phone sinks with BT & capacitive lights active
Today I tried to update my phone to the newest firmware (I think it was .210, but I know it was from August 5th on firmware finder...I know its a long time to wait to update, but I started a new job, moved to a new city, etc. so things have been super crazy). Unfortunately, after flashing with EMUI Flasher, the phone rebooted and then got an update failure. I restarted the phone and waited but the screen was black. However, my smart band paired and if I press the power button, the capacitive button lights turn on, but the screen is blank/black. I have tried rebooting, both regularly holding power for 20 seconds as well as holding the power key with volume up and then volume down. I can reboot into a recovery of sorts and tried to wipe cache and restart, as well as boot into safe mode, but both result in the black screen from before. I can also boot into fastboot, but don't know what I could do to fix this.
Any advice as to how I can save my phone would be really appreciated. I'm really hoping I don't have to wipe the phone.
Please help me!
