Facial Recognition - LG V60 ThinQ Questions & Answers

As I do not have the device yet (it is in transit). I have learned that the TMO variant does not have facial recognition/unlock. However, I have been told that the other variants may have it under Smart Lock. Is this a fact? Can someone confirm this?
Thank you.

NFC?

On verizion's site it says no nfc support but is this true?

Where does it say that? I highly doubt vzw would remove nfc...
NFC is built into the actual battery back cover this time around, not the actual battery like the S3. So yes, the Note 2 does have NFC.

I called. They said it's a mistake on the site. It does have it.

for s-beam to work it has to have NFC (near field communication)
so I would say "YES" it will have NFC
Verizon still wrong...

Here it is now November 16th. I know many have complained to Verizon and I added my voice to that today. Their website, when yo do a compare, shows that the Note 2 does NOT support NFC. It makes me think that Verizon is doing this intentionally. They have been notified and have not acted to correct and obvious misrepresentation of the phones capabilities. What better way to help their massive PR push for the Droid DNA? It's a little thing, but as a Verizon customer, it bugs me.
Hey! My first post was a complaint.

SIM unlock becomes illegal

Anyone heard about this? Any thoughts?

It's my phone. I'll do what I want with it. If they have a problem with that then they can come knock on my door. Trying to regulate this is a lost cause.

From the way that I understand it, anyone who pays full price or fulfills their contract will be able to unlock the phone. Subsidized phones that are still within the terms of the subsidy are the ones affected (which at this time will include virtually all AT&T LGOG users).

yo man so.... hsdpa/+ does it work on tmobile? are you on edge? did you flash another radio?or are you using the 1900mhz band?, i have many questions.
It's illegal to buy an unlock code. People with a carrier, such as AT&T, carrier and have owned the device for 30+ days can get the code legally from said carrier. I'm all for this, though. Makes it all the more pointless for people to steal devices.

T-Mobile S5 on AT&T network??

The Note 3 and few other devices from T-Mobile can pick up AT&T LTE signal, can the S5 do so as well? Where can we get the device unlocked?
Edit: I have found a website where I believe you can unlock any gsm Galaxy S 5 (I haven't tried it myself but others have) here is the site
http://www.theunlockingcompany.com
It should work without any issues. The cost is $41.99 USD.
Edit 2: This website has been confirmed to be working great

Yes it absolutely have all AT&T LTE bands, as well as HSPA/GSM ones. Just needs to be unlocked.
Is there a way to network unlock the phone right now? I was going to switch back to ATT today but I might use my Jump on an S5 before I go.
I believe cellunlocker.net should have that unlock soon hopefully...

As of today we are no joy.
T Mobile makes you wait 40 days before they will release the unlock code. And it's $760 total.
I too want this answer -- I paid $660 plus tax ($720) to get mine yesterday.
I bought from TMo because I had read that they aren't locked and the sales person told me the same -- well, it seems that it is. Called Tech Support and they said they can't help me because I don't have a TMo #.
I'll go back to the store today -- unless there's another option.

Has anyone tried to use Samsung Secret codes to unock it? I am not sure if this works for the S5 or not, but there are steps you can use on the S4 that allows you to unlock the phone using codes - See this thread for steps - (careful - I am not positive this works - I don't know what the downside might be if you screw up - but it might be an option - or possibly something similar? )http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2283068

Does anyone know if the Tmo S5 have the exact same bands as AT&T S5? I am wondering because in Chicago, AT&T has LTE-A and wanted to make sure the Tmo version would also have this if used on AT&T network. Thanks in advance.

Carrier Aggregation is only enabled on AT&T S5 variant. As far as individual AT&T LTE and HSPA+ bands, they're all present on T-Mobile variant.

I have found a potentially site to unlock the device (potentially cause I haven't tried it but seems legit). Check the OP.

No, I checked a video from samjpullen on youtube, he is fairly known youtuber and he recommended the site. Here is his video:
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=phOSUUIM2W4
He is in the UK but I did check the site when you choose Samsung and then choose galaxy s 5 it asks you which country and what carrier. When I had the T-Mobile note 3 I didn't need to activate it to unlock it.

Nice. I did check multiple unlock sites and several of them had the T-Mobile S5 listed. Didn't want to buy it without knowing if it would work though. I also know some people at T-Mobile so I'm going to see if they can do something for me as well. I just want the phone already, lol.

Sprint Note 3 unlock for Att (Gsm)

I got a Sprint Note 3 from craigslist. Everything works. Got a great deal on it.
Now i want it to work on the Att network which i know is GSM and Sprint is mainly a CDMA carrier.
Well, i read the thread on the UICC unlock and it looks like that phone can work on GSM carriers after all.
I am not a Sprint customer so i can't get it "Internationaly Unlocked"
What way can i go about it? CAn i only flash to other CDMA carriers?
What route can i go. Will there ever be a GSM unlock?
It can always be flashed to boost. Pretty sure there's some threads floating around about it.
Sent from my SM-N900P using xda app-developers app
ok, can i flash it myself, is it very difficult?
Is GSM unlocking possible at all?
Yes you can unlock it for att read the other thread.

Could you provide us some "flash to boost" link/tutorial?
Here is a start
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmvCpR45LKA
start reading this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2593305 all your questions have been discussed there
The short answer is "no, without being a Sprint customer and having Sprint unlock international GSM, you will not be able to use the GSM portion of this phone"
not sure why you bought the phone in the first place, sounds like this is Sprint bad ESN phone - an expensive paperweight unless it was cheap and you want to use it as wifi only device. You might be able to flash it to some prepaid cdma carrier like boost mobile, But that is not trivial. and boost is also subsidiary of sprint, so if the phone is reported lost or stolen on sprint, not sure if it will be ok for boost, probably ok

They have, but as already said, we need Sprint to internationally unlock it. I'm in a situation where I cannot do that because I bought the sprint phone in the US and I live in another country

My whole reason for asking for unlocked was to Unlock the Bootloader. This would technically be my 1st LG I've ever own since July 2010 when I got my very 1st Android through Sprint Called the HTC EVO. I havent looked to another OS since. Feel in love with Development from the start, currently on Moto G7 aka River Android Dev Team and just left the Google Pixel 4 4XL Dev Group. Bunch of immature lil kids.... Anyway, is there no possibility of Unlocking the BootLoader in the V60? no way to install or flash Magisk for ROOT? No TWRP? I cant even imagine....[emoji23]
PS
They were listed as international versions on Amazon a week before launch....

Not surprised in the slightest that this is the case now and probably will get more prominent going forward. I'm guessing the money is in the carriers and not in selling unlocked phones direct to consumers.

Carrier Unlock isnt an issue, Just went through it on my Pixel 4XL. Took me (7) devices but once i found the right rep at TMO i was able to get them to unlock it, a) Same day i received it, b) wasnt even active on my account yet c)100% of Device was owed. d)
I could toggle oem unlock out of the box, cant enter bootloader though... Just fastbootd

Be careful! The carrier-locked LG phones only show carrier-specific radio bands in their spec sheets. This seems improbable in a modern phone but I'm not taking any chances. If the specs are right, a T-Mobile phone would work great at home but be dead while traveling.
