Use tasker to switch on aod only when notifications arrive - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Themes, Apps

Had this on my s10 and now it also works on the s20 https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s10/themes/tasker-to-switch-aod-t4055607 much better than these aod apps that work half the time.

do you know how to put in a timeout for say 10 mins?
So notification arrives, AoD on for 10 mins, then AoD off?

Sorry no idea, maybe try https://forum.xda-developers.com/u/tasker-tips-tricks on how to add a timer/delay before running a command.

Well I'm no tasker guru, and there may well be a more efficient way, but.......
1. You need to set up "notification detect" profiles for each notification you want to repeat, using Autonotifications. All they do is set 2 global variables to 1 when a detection has been made. One generic one that starts the repeats, and one for each app.
View attachment 4993295
View attachment 4993291
View attachment 4993297
2. Here is the main "repeat task" that makes it work. When the "repeat variable" is turned on it sends a "tasker notification" every minute.
View attachment 4993299
3. You need to add a "keyword" in each of the "tasker notifications" titles.
4. Then enable "edge lighting" for tasker and add keyword colours for each of the "tasker notifications"
View attachment 4993301
5. You need some way to turn them off. You can use a "widget task", "quick toggle task", or a "screen on task" to switch all your variables back to 0.
I hope that's clear?

Battery protection app for JB

The developer threads seem to indicate that there is a danger running JB of 'bricking" the TP if the battery is allowed to discharge all the way. It is suggested that an app like "Battery Check" should be used to turn off the TP when the battery reaches a set percentage charge.
My problem is that I'm not sure "Battery Check" is working on my TP. The only "setting" I see when I run it is a slide bar for setting the percent of charge. But when I set the bar, and tap "Launch Service", the app exits. I'm assuming that it is now set to turn off when it reaches what I set. The problem is that my assumption could be wrong and being wrong could "brick" my TP. A chance I'm NOT willing to take.
Can anyone verify that "Battery Check" works and that I've set it up properly? Does it actually turn off the TP, or just "sound an alarm" that I'm likey to miss if I'm asleep?

Do you have a version # for your Automateit app. My screen looks like that but there is no "Shutdown" option. I solved the problem by installing "Power Off" and having Automateit call that app as the "Action". That worked.

This is weird. There was no shutdown option when I created the first "rule". But, now, if I go back to add another rule, the Shutdown action IS available. And my version is the same as yours.

Go figure, I am glad you finally got it sorted and trust the screen shots helped. You now shouldn't have to worry about a bricked tablet but I would still shutdown if you are not going to use it or are going out etc .
i had that problem too. something to do with some actions requiring root like shutdown, but i don't remember but i enabled it somehow. check settings and look for enabling root options maybe.
When I installed AutomateIt on my TB, I was asked to confirm root access for the app.

2nd Screen Flash on new text message (Tasker)

I made a Tasker profile that will basically make the 2nd screen flash, "New Text Message" every 6 seconds until you turn the screen on. The idea for this is that you can now have something noticeable from a distance to alert you that you have a new message.
Let me know if it helps anyone.
*This won't work with 3rd party messaging apps like Tango or Whatsapp.*
How to use:
Download Tasker: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm
Download the zip and extract it to your internal SD/Tasker/profiles
Open Tasker.
Make sure Profiles tab is active, and tap the tab again. Choose Import. Choose Flash_New_Text.

Thank you for this.
Maybe we can think a few ways he can make different ones for different notifications.
For example: if we get a text, we see the text message popup. If we get an email, the second screen cycles through each second window shortcut.

Are you using the stock messenger app?
When you receive a text with the main screen off, the second screen flashes a "new text message" notification. It flashes every 3 seconds.

The only notifications that Tasker will allow are for successfully sent SMS messages, new SMS (and/or MMS), and missed calls.
Technically, you can make it work with apps like Tango and Whatsapp, but you'd need Tasker plugins that will allow Tasker to recognize that you received a message. To do this, it would mean that you'd need to create a version for each and every type of messaging service (if there's an available plugin). It's a lot to do and I can't even test them all.

Your normal text message notification does still appear. This creates a separate notification that appears and disappears, causing the 2nd screen to pulse a message that says, "New Text Message." Once the main screen turns on, this pulsing notification simply ends and vanishes. If the main screen is off, and you get a NEW text, it'll start up again.

Create the folders in your internal SD directory.
So create a "Tasker" folder and inside that, a "profiles" folder.

Here's a test version for third party apps like Whatsapp, Tango, etc.
You can try this one if you use a third party text messaging service and the original profile I made doesn't work with that app.
THERE ARE NO GUARANTEES THAT THIS WILL WORK RIGHT, OR EVWN WORK AT ALL!
http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/58163c2cbb678/3rd_Party_Texts (EXTRACT ME).zip
To use this, you MUST do the following after importing the profile:
1) Expand the "3rd Party Texts" profile by tapping on "3rd Party Texts." It's expanded if you can see the On/Off toggle.
2) tap the trophy icon
3) tap the rocket ship
4) select your text messaging app
4.5) Leave the rest alone.
5) Press the back button
6) See if it works
Note: Only 1 app will work per this profile. If you use multiple 3rd party apps (Tango AND Whatsapp for example), long press the "3rd Party Texts" text, press the "A" icon in the upper right and rename the profile to something else (ex: Tango), then import the "3rd Party Texts" profile again. Repeat steps 1-6 above, but with your second app.
Repeat everything as many times as necessary.

Tried this with Textra, unfortunately it is not flashing
Also tried the Missed call one and it's not flashing on that either. I'm currently streaming music and that icon is there so not sure if that's causing an issue.
When I pull the notification shade down, it says Tasker profile active none even though both of them say on in Tasker.
I have admin turned on and accessibility service turned on for Tasker as well.
EDIT
I fixed the Textra one- basically you have to turn off the "Screen on" option in Textra otherwise that triggers the screen on portion of the Text tasker item.
Still haven't figured out why the missed call one isn't working - at first I thought maybe the initiate time frame was too short so I upped it to 10 sec, but even that isn't triggering the flash.
Added both the NEW TEXT and MISSED CALL profiles to mine.
I haven't tested out the MISSED CALL yet, but it should work exactly like the NEW TEXT.
I have both set to ON.
Does this app Tasker effect the battery life since it is always on and detecting for messages?
Thanks again for your hard work in creating this...greatly appreciated.

How did you do that?
Can you please explain...newbie here.

Use AlwaysOnDisplay (AOD) as substitue for missing notification LED using Tasker

You are missing a notification LED on LG G6?
You don't use the AlwaysOnDisplay (AOD)?
You are using Tasker?
I have a solution for you.
The AOD screens goes on if you have a new message and goes off after reading that massage.
Beside the newest version of Tasker you need additional the app Tasker Settings
I have attached two files "AOD_ON.tsk.xml" and "AOD_OFF.tsk.xml"
These are the Tasker task which turns the AlwaysOnDisplay on and off.
How to import these XML as Tasker task: read this XDA thread
Now you have to add 2 new profiles in Tasker
Profile 1 - Notification
Go to the Profile tab in Tasker, and press the "Plus" (+) button
Choose: EVENT - UI - NOTIFICATION ... you can choose now an app (owner application) let's say WhatsApp (you can choose more than one app)
Related task : AOD_ON
Important : leave all the fields TITEL, TEXT, SUBTEXT etc empty.
Profile 2 - Notification removed
Go to the Profile tab in Tasker, and press the "Plus" (+) button
Choose: EVENT- UI - NOTIFICATION REMOVED ... you can choose now an app (owner application) let's say WhatsApp (you can choose more than one app)
Related task : AOD_OFF
If you don't want to be notified in the middle of the night by AOD, you may have that Profile only active during daytime. Short tap the Prolie name, long tap the profile description. A new window pops up, choose ADD. A new window pops up, choose TIME. You can now define in which period of the day the profile is active.
LG G6 settings: Notifications/ LOCK Screen / do NOT choose Hide all notifications !
It works for me on LG G6 (H870)
Have fun
EDIT: for SMS & MMS add Contacts, Phone App and (if possible) SMS App to owner application in Tasker Profile
For missed calls you need to add 'Calling Accounts' apart from Phone app.
Here are the steps how to add this: (thanks to user Vitoski, who found out)
1. Click on the 'Owner Application'
2. click 'ALL' button at the right bottom corner
3. Select 'Calling Accounts'.
4. click back twice and tick to save changes.
EDIT : If you like to have a brighter AOD , please read this useful post added by user vitoski
Many thanks for that!
Thanks a lot to users Dracushor87 and Vitoski for testing and giving hints and ideas!
Edit : new versions of AOD_ON and AOD_OFF tasks
martmarq great post - thanks a lot!
I've been using AOD with Tasker since two days now and in most cases it works fine. It kicks in when the notification shows up and turns off when I remove the notification.
However sometimes the AOD turns on itself, even if there was no notification registered in the system. These are the two situations in which I have spotted this:
# when you go to Display Settings and click on three dots next to AOD - you don't need to change anything in there, just go there and back to homescreen.
# when you connect phone to the charger. Even when you disconnect it, the AOD stays on.
# under some other circumstances which I was not able to pinpoint right now
So, have you observed the same?

When you connect the phone to the charger, there is a notification.... therefor AOD should go on.
You can manage that by choosing apps (owner application) in Tasker. That solved the problem for me.
That might also solve the other circumstances.
I don't have that problem with the display settings... I have just tested that.

If you produce a profile like "active between 8 o'clock and midnight" does that work for you?

Yes, it does. The AOD_off profile works, but I can not get AOD_on to trigger with an app notification, I have verified that I have the app selected for a trigger.

Power Management

Hi folks... Getting frustrated with aggressive power management- or just bugs.
For example GMail app is set to Ignore Power Optmisation but after every restart I get the prompt about allowing it to run in the background. Every time I tap Allow but it comes again on next restart. (screenshot attached).
Some apps will be closed regardless of "Ignore Power Optimisation" being selected - and even if I change the battery management for that specific app to Manual.
Is there anything we can do to completely disable power optimisation?

Only oled screen Mate 10 pro has that.
However you can get dark themes from this app: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/themes/emui-themes-factory-app-3rd-party-t3701981
You have this issue with other apps too? Do you still get the notifications?

I see... It's a shame they haven't implemented for both models. In my case I feel like the dark colour are nicer on the eyes, specially at night.

In dark mode, if you open an email does it show all on a white background or black background? Can you show a screen shot please?

You need to lock the app from the recent task screen. So that it wont be closed.
Also you need to manage the launch of the app "manually", but i think you did that already

[Amazfit Stratos] How to customize intervals in seconds ?

Hello,
I just received my Amazfit Watch Stratos (English version, rom version 2.3.2.8)
Do you know how create customize intervals in seconds with Amazfit Watch app?
I can create a new Interval in my app, but the minimum interval duration is 1 min.
I'd like to do this :
20 seconds running
30 seconds recuperation
Maybe i could change the minimum interval parameter somewhere ?
If it is not possible with Amazfit app, maybe it could be with another app (wich one ??) ?
thks
It's not possible as of now. If you have an international model (A1619) you can suggest the feature here:

Well, i tried it.
It works BUT .... i can't use this app and running app together (because when i start my running activity app to , i can't acces anything else as long as this app is working)
Do you know how to keep using runing app (to record HR, calories,...) in background and use an other app?
You can use quick launcher to switch between . I use it for a better stopwatch function than the default one.
How could i do that ? quick launcher with buttons ? I can change feature for each button ?

You can start the interval app from your regular screen with a swipe gesture when done you swipe the interval app away and you are back.

I think he meant that, with QuickLauncher installed, you can invoke it using a swipe gesture, so you can start the interval app...
Hey, you must install this app: Sidebar Lite: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mohammad.adib.sidebar.lite and start it
2 step: Install Amazfit Interval Timer 0.1b
Now, You start e.g. Run app from Sports in watch, and You can turn on the Interval Timer from Sidebar. Your activity its still record.
It works very well.
Sorry about my English.
Running interval
Can someone tell me how you guys download apps into amazfit? I need this interval/timer badly!
And yes I cant go or other menu once I start my run activity

Many options:
1. adb install apk_name.apk
2. Amazfit Tool available elsewhere on XDA (Win only)
3. APKInstaller.com (Win only)
I would recommend QuickLauncher over SideBarLite.
I tried SideBarLite for a while and found that it kept getting dumped from memory.
QuickLauncher seems to stay active very reliably.
You can get both of them from this link. Also includes apkinstaller.exe and a bunch of Pace compatible apps.

When it come to global version and app for iOS .
I tried the Interval timer together with Quick Launcher. I can switch from running to timer, but how can I switch from timer to running? In launcher, there is no icon for opened running session, just the sport icon, which leads to sport start page, not to the opened session...
Thanks in advance...

Try using watch's button to lock/unlock watch. If it doesn't open, simply open the same sport again, IIRIC this is what I have used in the past...
