Simcard lost connection (had to re-enter sim pin) - Xiaomi Mi 10 Questions & Answers

Yesterday I received my Mi10, what a beautiful device. But I ran into a problem today:
While I was navigating in Google Maps my phone suddenly switched to lockscreen and I had to re-enter my sim pin. Like I was doing a hot swap. Only then did the phone reconnect to the network. This has happened once but I've never had this with another phone before. The sim card is new, clean and carefully inserted.
I hope this was a software bug and not a hardware issue...do you guys recommend requesting a device swap (other mi10) already? Is this a know problem?

Happend to me today also , when i did start my phone after recharge might be a software bug

I bought MI10 three days ago and this morning it lost the SIM connection and there is no way for making it recognized by MI10.
The same SIM works fine on my old MI6 and no other SIM works on MI10.
I have also tried to hard reset it, but nothing changes.
Do you think it is a hardware problem? After 3 days?

I have same problem, mi Mi 10 isn't reading my sim card anymore, looks like HW problem because it is sometimes working but I have to try to insert it maybe 30 or more times
And from today it is not reading sim card anymore.

MINI PRO does not start

This is a problem common to the X10.
With some SIM the device is not starting; when I press the on key it vibrates and after nothing happens. Some times the led start blinking slowly in green.
This happens to me using using a 128kb sim from airtel (version with smaller chip).
It does not happens and start regularly using other sims both 64 and 128. I tested with sims from Vodafone and Tim.
I wonder if someone else have faced this problem and found a solution (or a reason for that)
hello from chile
after i bought this phone , branded by claro (cell phone company here in chile) the phone randomly boot up, even after several tries , and the the boot time process consumes almost 5 minutes and eat 25% of the battery , i really thought than this could be a defective unit , even i blame my self because i rooted and uninstall some games and brand stuff ....buuuuut i read your post about the diferent SIM chips
i have another cell phone (entel PCS here in chile ) and i gave it a try using that chip in my x10 mini , and surprisedly the unit boot up so fast than i get scared (LOL)
this unit still sim locked but even that ... boot up fast and the battery remain intact .. so i can confirm than some SIMs can afect the behavior of this unit in some level than i don't know...shame but it doesn't matter to my becouse by now i ask to the factory about the sim unlock code .. so i am gonna use the ENTEL PCS sim chip that worked flawlessly
i hope this can help you and others with the same symptom
hi,
had the same problem with my x10. after the phone shuts down over night for low battery, it did not wake up anymore with sim inserted. remving the sim it startet well.
i simply(?) connected to pc, did an repair from the pc suite and everything worked fine again, when the sim was inserted. it seems, the phone did not shut down correct.
i had the same problem with x10 mini with sim from russian Beeline (6-pin sim). After i change sim (Beeline sim with another chip) i had no problem.
Could be a bad sim card.
I had it happen to my other phones and on my brother's droid. We had our sims for about 7 years, and sometimes it messes up. I caused our razr to bug out when we saved things to the sim or got a txt.
I also caused my brother's hermes to keep hard reseting it self and have radio error.
and for his dorid. it keeps force closing things.
This happened to me too.
Tried to put my coll's SIM in my mini pro, and it did not start.
Both SIM's are vodafone hu, and they are newly bought.
So I don't really get it why it's refusing to start with the other SIM, as they should be the same...

[Q] My Mini does reboot after PIN input

Good morning.
After booting my phone, entering my PIN and pressing OK it reboots. Not every time, sometimes it goes on working as expected. And before the reboot it freezes for a few seconds either when the input-PIN-dialog has just disappeared or whilst it's diappearing.
So that getting the Mini to an usable state can take from one to several tries.
Changing or taking out the SD card changes nothing, but doing this with the UICC (let's say SIM) does.
The problem is present when SIM0 is plugged (my main connection/line/number). It's an 8 pin card I got from my provider two years ago for use with my W980i.
Without a SIM or with SIM1 plugged the phone acts like it should. While SIM1 is a brand new 6 pin card I got cause of a strange take-more-connections-get-more-boni deal. And with both with-SIM-settings I repeated it dozens of times.
Restoring with SEUS doesn't help. And the phone isn't rooted (yet).
So my questions are:
Isn't SIM0 working fine anymore? Is their a chance that my Mini has a defect?
Is there a UICC-integrity-test without the need for special hardware? Could it be that the different SIM format is causing this behaviour?
Later on I'll also call my provider, but preparation is everything, isn't it. And who knows if it's done after that call. But first I'll hug my pillow for a while (7:38 AM yet ).
So your suggestions, ideas or even more knowledge are/is welcome.
Thanks in advance.
I have the same problem (nearly every reboot). But I haven't tried different SIM cards.
I'll try with different ones and if that makes a difference like does in your case.
I'm using o2 Germany Multicard (2 cards (or more), 1 phone number).
It's o2 Germany in my case too. What formats are your cards (8 or 6 pin) of. Although i don't know if that could make any difference.
The call center guy (Guy) i've just talked to didn't have any idea. He offered me to send a new SIM, but I'll head for an o2 shop this evening. I can get one there immediately. And maybe there is an oppurtunity to test some other cards. At least I hope there is.
Also Guy didn't know about any card test facilities. Perhaps I can reach a cell phone repair shop in time after that. I'd like to know what they can do/say.
Oh, I forgot to say, that my W980i still works fine with SIM0. Although it reboots sometimes while playing music ever since. I don't know if there's commonality. I ever thought of a hardware failure in memory.
I'll report.
Now I count three phones - W980i, W800i and some cheap Panasonic or so - that work proper with that suspicious 8 pin card (SIM0)
and four 6 pin cards my X10 Mini works with.
There wasn't any shop staff being able to help me getting closer to the source of that failure. I couldn't get to the cell phone repair shop in time.
Unfortunately I have no more X10 Minis or other two years old 8 pin cards (UICCs) from o2 Germany to do further testing.
same prob here ....
little workarround: when rebooting the phone press the powerbutton and switch to flightmode. unlock the phone. then disable flightmode and enter pin.
Nice to know, though my actual workaround is a new SIM replacing SIM0.
But still left is that annoying ambiguity whether I bought a proper device or not. And I dislike the idea of returning it without a reasonable suspicion.
@inteks
I could not really understand your procedure.
I have similar problem, but my phone does not boot. It vibrates and then nothing. Even if I switch off in airplane mode it will not switch on.
What are the exact steps you are using?
Thanks

[Q] X10i upgrade R2BA026 restarts abruptly

Hi,
I got an X10i from UK Vodafone, and upgraded its firmware in India through SEUS, and it was clean installation to R2BA026, but the moment I started using it, every time I use some app the phone switches off. Its very inconsistent.
I tried below with no luck
reinstall
removed some apps
Killed some apps
I worried that many in talk.sonyericsson.com/message/10001 say that its hardware issue, but I dont think so.
Can anyone help with some solutions?
Mod's please move this if this is not the right place to post this.
Have you tried to OTA update your x10? If this won't work you may should root your phone or try to downgrade it to an older firmware!
SE will launch eclair soon, this will also fix phone!!!
I got exactly the same here. Phone reboots in a loop or even crash without a reason. Sometimes it couldn't come up, while activating SIM / phone. After that message appears the phone is still in loop and reboots again.
I am going to downgrade now to 024 firmware. It's driving me crazy...will post if I have luck.
Well I figured out, that the problems we have are a bit more strange as expected. I read that the problem is because of the overheated battery. Once happend, the battery isn't working properly anymore. So only SE Customer Service can help. Today I'm going to a Sony store to explain my problem with the phone. Hope I'll have luck.
I nearly forgot to post the details: http://talk.sonyericsson.com/message/12816#12816
I got the same problem and tried everything to fix it but nothing helped. As soon as mobile switches on it restarts and goes into a boot cycle.
I figured out that the mobile restarts mainly when it needs to read something from the sim card. I swapped my old sim with a new sim and found that the restart problem was solved instantly. I tried again with another bad sim and the restart loop starts again.
Bad sim cards slide into the sim card slot very easily and hence the pins connection are loose which tends to make the mobile unstable while reading or writing from/to sim.
The easy method to solve this problem is by making the sim a little thick by sticking a piece of paper on the back side of sim.
From my personal experience bad sim is main cause of restart cycle.
Try to swap sim cards, if it works let us know.
Thanks
Hi,
Thanks for the details.
I tried both the sim cards, I have GSM Vodafone, and BSNL 3G, both has the problem, very similar.
The same worked earlier with R1XXXX very well.
However, will try the Sim trick with a paper on the back side, which afix the sim tightly.
Thanks,
Naveen.KK
Hi,
I have tried the sim trick with no luck.
Some one help.
Thanks,
Naveen.KK
its not related to sim or firmware
it is not related to sim or software, it might me with some handsets but it is completely a hardware problem...dont believe me use your phone without sim and memory card and play some game or just keep on playing with your phone
it will turn off and you have to remove battery for few seconds otherwise it wont start
this topic is covered on sony site mentioned above and other threads, this is not just happening to me or some of us...its with many of us
changing firmware, sim , memory card tried everything no luck
m using iphone now and miss big x10 screen and better colors
One week ago I sent my phone to SE. I'll get a report with my X10 back. So till now I don't have heard nothing from SE. I'll tell you what's in the report, if I get it back. By now I am playing with my oldschool N80 :-(
Hi I observed one thing weird here.
I have reset the mobile, and when it asked for APN settings, i disabled MMS&data, phone seems to be working little stable, goto check for some time, and try playing games on it.
Thanks,

The MMS and Data settings seem to be the problem.
When I used my old sim which was disabled, it worked fine with everything. When I enable my APN and MMS settings in my new sim and start browsing the net and downloading stuff it restarts there.
I think the problem is somewhat related to internet browsing on mobile.
What app do you use to browse internet on your Xperia?

[Q] ''SIM Card Removed. Please reboot phone.''

Hi all, as the title says, I randomly get this issue. I just wake up the phone and see this message here, although I have SIM card still in phone and didn't do earlier anything with it. It is sometimes 2x a week, but sometimes 2x two weeks, it's random. Earlier I just got the phone into Airplane mode and then back and it was OK, but now I have to power the phone off and pull out the SIM. SIM card doesn't seem to be damaged. I tried searching several times, but didn't find anything. Should I just replace the SIM with the new one or is it something worse, that isn't related with my SIM ?
Thank you.
I've got the same problem~

Sim reader dead?

My sim reader appears to be dead. The other day I go to use my phone and it says no signal, restart it and im good, browsing the web when all the sudden i get a message about no sim, insert sim and restart phone. So i restart and it was good for a couple days. Today my phone will not read a sim card. Tried my girlfriends captivate sim and no dice and my sim worked just fine in her phone. I odin back to stock to see if it would help but no dice. Seems like it must be hardware to me, has anybody had a similar problem.

Sounds like a bad solder joint or something hardware, unfortunately.
Hardware defects are covered by the warranty, should be able to get it replaced with relatively little hassle.... i say relatively, cause any time you're dealing with a warranty department There is inherently some hassle.
