wifi connection interrupts automatically when not using the tablet for a few minutes - Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Questions & Answers

Hey there!
Ever since the official Android 10 update I'm experiencing interrupts in my wifi connection whenever I put my tablet away for a few minutes. I'd guess that's probably some new feature for battery saving, at least it's called "sleep mode" on my OnePlus 5T, but I haven't found anything similar on my tablet yet. The patch notes for the Android 10 update also don't mention anything wifi or battery related as far as I can tell....
It's not my wifi since my phone and my bf's phone all work as usual.
Any ideas or anyone experiencing the same issue? Already checked dev options in the settings, but couldn't see anything related. Maybe I missed some settings somewhere?

push.

I've been experiencing problems with WiFi direct screen share connections too, like Miracast protocol

Yup! I did a couple of things though, so I don't really know which of them actually helped fixing the issue, or if it's even required to do all.
- I got 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wifi. They shared the same name, which made my tab switch between them often. I renamed both wifis so they don't share the exact same name (fun fact, they're now called Pizza 2.4 and Pizza 5). My tab is now only using the 5 GHz one, the 2.4 one now is only for devices that don't support 5 GHz (like my New Nintendo 3DS XL or my printer), because I live in an area where many people are, and the more wifi channels are occupied, the messier (and more prone to interferences) it gets. 5 GHz has a smaller range but is also stronger, which is perfect for my small flat. On 2.4 there's way more interferences because it has more range.
- In my router's settings, I've set the tablet's IP to static, because I've read somewhere that this might help.
Can't tell if both steps are required, you might just wanna try out one first if you don't necessarily want a static intern IP for example.
My tablet also used to take ages to find my wifi, which is now fixed for some reason. On my OnePlus 5T it still takes very long to find my 5 GHz wifi, although it also has a static IP. But both devices won't disconnect randomly anymore.

[Q] WiFi Connection Speed

Long-time troller, first-time poster.
I'm a network engineer, so I know a thing or two about WiFi and what not but this has got me scratching my head.
For the life of me I can't get my Nook tablet to connect a speeds greater than 54Mbps via WiFi. I've got my Galaxy tab next to the thing and it's connecting at 65Mbps.
It's not an issue of frequency I actually disabled 5GHz spectrum on my AP to check. The AP is a Cisco 1142 dual radio 802.11a/b/g/n WAP. But I've also tried with a Cisco/Linksys e1000, and a netgear what-cha-call-it at a friend's house. No dice on WiFi speeds above 54Mbps
Even my Xperia play connects at 802.11n 2.4GHz speeds.
I'm running 1.4.0 Rooted if that helps. Plenty of reboots to kill a cow if anyone thinks that's the problem.
I'm thinking that B&N have the nook locked to 802.11g speeds.
What do you all think?
Something is up with the wifi for sure. If you google nook tablet wifi problems, you get a ton of hits. I could get my nook tablet to connect to my router but could not get the internet to work on the tablet. After rebooting the router and the nook several times, changing several router settings and doing everything under the son, I finally changed my security from the N to the G only setting ( Dont really remember which is was) and this fixed it. Keep in mind my android phone, my wifes blackberry, my playstation 3, my friends mac book and my in laws ipad have had 0 problems connecting to my router. I think its safe to say its the nook tablet.
Yeah I've seen the issues with the WiFi on Google and even here on XDA, but everybody seems to be having issues with not connecting, or connections get muddled up and they have to reboot their nook.
I'm still thinking Barnes & Nobel deliberately throttled the WiFi to support only 54Mbps max. Although I have no clue as to why they would do that.
yea i think they capped all the hardware cuz even the sound is low but when rooting and using a android media player its way louder
Hmm... I wonder where items like connection speed, and volume would have their parameters kept. I wonder if with Root one could edit them?

[Q] Wifi performance when using Bluetooth

Hi
Just got my 16GB WiFi Tablet Z running 4.1.2 (build 10.1.C.0.370) a few days ago and I've noticed that while I have my Bluetooth headphones connected (to avoid using those pesky port covers ) the WiFi performance of the tablet becomes very poor and erratic. The tablet doesn't disconnect from any networks, it maintains a connection and the signal strength shows no change but pages become very slow to load (if they load at all) and YouTube videos will not buffer properly. It will then work fine for a few minutes but then have issues and become unusable afterwards.
I've had this issue every WiFi network I've tried. 2 in the house (2.4Ghz) and a 5GHz one along with the mobile hotspot on my phone.
I've never had this issue on any other device I've had (OG Nexus 7, HTC One, HTC One X+, Samsung Galaxy Note, ASUS Transformer TF100) so
I'm wondering if this is a software issue that may be fixed with the upcoming 4.2 update or a custom ROM or is it still there on other ROMs and it is a hardware issue?
Thanks

First Time i connect with Bluetooth (Keyboard) the Wifi connect was lost...i had to restart the Tablet.. I hope it is only a Software Problem
This is a known issue for this specific tablet. It's on the Sony mobile discussion forums for tab z. Bluetooth and wifi work fine separately it's just when they are on together that issues appear. For me, wifi didn't stop working all together, it just took far too long to even load the most basic of websites. No response from one just yet.
Sent from my SGP311 using Tapatalk 4
UPDATE: Just updated to 4.2.2 and from what I have experienced, it seems as if they have fixed the issue. I can use my Bluetooth headphones and listen to music without any Wifi problems
Could anyone else confirm this?

Problems with Android devices and Wifi

hey all..
I am having some weird problems with Android devices on my company wireless network.
My company makes games for Android and Ios and we test our games a lot on a variety of devices.
For whatever reason, some of our Android devices, which range from older version Samsung Notes, right up to Galaxy S4, have trouble with wireless speeds.
I am starting to believe its Android mostly because other devices have no problems, such as laptops, Iphone 4s and above, Ipads etc.
When I say they have problems, I mean they tend to lose connectivity to the wireless network and then reconnect, or their speeds are just way too low.
Iphones for example tend to get anywhere between 15-25Mbps when I've tested them. My Laptop is able to get 50 (I realize that a laptop is not a fair comparison).. and yet some of the Android devices here, Nexus 7 tablet, Samsung Galaxy Nexus (4.2.1), get around 1-3Mbps.. Also, my personal phone, an LG Optimus G, running Cyanogen Mod, gets 3-5 Mbps on the same networks as the other devices are on.
I don't understand what could be the reason for this huge discrepancy between devices and its very perplexing. At home on my Asus router, my phone gets a constant 20Mbps always.. and that's just a single router. Here in my office we have a 12 Access Point Wireless grid which provides signal to the enter building.
I have tried many different things, from adjusting the networks to only be G type, removing encryption for testing, upgrading phone OS's and making sure they are their current version.. also adjusting the wireless options such as turning wifi off during sleep, turning off the optimize wireless switch, everything I could think of.. and yet on some devices it just crawls and I don't get why.
Has anyone come across this before? I'm racking my brain here trying to get to the bottom of this ..
Thanks for any ideas and suggestions.
How about reducing the DHCP lease time on the router?
On a much much smaller scale, I've managed to deal with some devices having issues on my home wifi by turning on static IP via the device wifi settings for the connection.

Thanks for your reply.
I will try to change lease time on one of the networks and test to see if there is any change.
One of the devices that i'm having the most trouble, I tried to join after setting a static IP and found the same issue.. disconnecting and slow speed.
this is whats so weird.. I also have a Gtab 3 and am getting 30Mbps down and 30 Up.. its blazing fast, same network, different android version.. but not disconnecting and works fine. It just doesn't make sense.
I also had an Iphone 4s user come up to me and he's having the same trouble. It will disconnect frequently, and when we run a speed test its crazy slow. Meanwhile other iphones have no problems..

[Q] Galaxy S4 Supercell Servers Connection Problem

So I have been playing Clash of Clans for quite some time now (over a year now), and this has always been a problem with this particular device, and the router (idk if it's the router causing the problem) that this wi-fi network uses.
I will try to specify my problem to the best of my abilities.
So what is going on is my Galaxy S4 on this particular wi-fi network I am on has very frequent connection problems on Supercell games.
With the recent updates they released, they added the connectivity issue icon that pops up in the middle of the screen when it begins to lose connection. This happens frequently. Most of the time, anytime I move to a different screen while this icon is active, it will then display the little loading icon (orange circular icon). At this point in time, I will have to completely reload my game in order to regain a connection. This also happens on Hay Day too, except Hay Day doesn't have the connectivity issue icons. I can get onto my 1st Generation Nexus 7 and play Clash, and I notice it actually "nexts" faster than my Galaxy S4, as well as never having these connectivity issues. It's weird because I am almost certain the Galaxy S4's CPU is much faster than the first generation Nexus 7's. I am wondering if perhaps this is some sort of an issue with the firmware version I am on. I have tried turning on airplane mode and turning only wi-fi on, and it still has the same issues.
Device: Sprint Galaxy S4
OS: Jellybean 4.2.2
Router: Tenda W311R
My phone IS rooted on the stock rom.
I read that S4s have connectivity issues with certain D-Link routers, but I have no idea if this is one.
Does anyone have similar issues, or have seen similar issues with this phone on Supercell games?
Bump! Does anyone know what this might be?

Wifi Issues

Hi guys
just a quickie, just got the Mate 10 Pro and i'm finding Wifi very slow/sketchy. I've just replaced the P10 and I never had any issues with that phone, sitting in exactly the same place. Youtube vids are very slow to view (ie buffering/viewing in SD as opposed to HD), downloading from Play store is quite slow, then all of a sudden it will kick in for a bit.
Not sure if i've done something wrong or not, so was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this at all?
just done 2 speedtests on the wifi and the first came out at 0.3Mbps down and 0.65Mbps up. 2nd test 1.56Mbps down and 0.01Mbps Up.
Contrasting with my Mac which is 24Mbps up and 9.2Mbps down.
Something's wrong, those shows are WAY too low.
You should be hitting 1MB at least, download....oh... Sorry, didn't see your second test!
But even so when my mac has a speed test of 24mbps down, I would still expect to see something similar on the mate 10 pro, especially when I had no issues with the P10
What channel used by your router ?
Btw, my mate 10 has glitchy wifi on initial .103 firmware, but all fixed on .115
Gone the channel route as well. Seems slightly better but still not great.
Hi,
this thread is getting old by now, but I found this as one of only a few threads for my problem being found by google search, so I reply here, hoping someone might find this helpful or can explain the issues.
I have (had) issues with Mate 10 Pro wifi as well.
At home, I have a dual band (2.4 & 5 GHz) router. I use(d) different SSID names but same password for 2.4 and 5 GHz band. Both wifi access points (2.4 & 5 GHz SSID) were stored in my Mate 10 Pro.
After restarting the phone, I experienced ~60 Mbit/s download speed, but only for some seconds. After that, it regularly dropped down to ~1 Mbit/s or loss of connection from then on.
Today, I tried and deleted the 2.4 GHz wifi connection from the Mate 10 Pro, and ever since I have ~120 MBits/s stable download and 12 MBit/s stable upload.
Maybe Android (8.0) or the Mate 10 Pro simply can't handle two available SSIDs with same password?
Cheers, Lars
BTW: Mate 10 Pro with .125 firmware here...
Hi there I also had that problem but I solved my problem differently, I just went to the Wifi configuration in the phone
Then there was this option called Wlan/Wifi in Standby-Modus, there you could choose if it should always stay on Standby or only while loading or never and if you choose never you can finally use your full speed
Hopefully I could help someone with this,
Cheers, fellow user
