Unlock Redmi Note 4 without losing data - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
I had put a password on my Redmi Note 4 so my son doesn't play games on it. I usually use fingerprint or text password which I remember. However, I'm not sure what password I entered and now I've forgotten it. Now as the phone starts it is asking for the password and now it is locked. I can send some pictures of the screen for your reference (do advise how i can send these). When I try forgot password it just prompts me to the screen saying data will be erased etc...
I have important documents, ebooks, pictures and contacts on the phone which I need. Please advise if there is some way by which I can unlock the phone or at least backup all the data on the phone and then erase it.
Your help will be much appreciated.
Best regards,
Sudeep

Starting with Android 5 Lollipop there’s no built-in way to simply reset your pattern, PIN, or password and gain access to your phone or tablet. This does help provide additional protection to your data, attackers have no way of bypassing the passcode unless they actually know it.
The one and only possible solution to unlock: If you've set up Smart Lock on your phone and have it automatically log in when it’s on your home Wi-Fi then you can take your phone to that home Wi-FI network and it will automatically unlock for you, even if you can’t remember the normal unlock code.
If the phone runs Android 4.4 KitKat and older it has an integrated way to bypass your pattern, PIN, or other password if you forget it. To find this feature, first enter an incorrect pattern or PIN five times at the lock screen. You’ll see a “Forgot pattern,” “forgot PIN,” or “forgot password” button appear. Tap it. You’ll be prompted to enter the username and password of the Google account associated with your Android device.

[Q] Screen unlock / security

I'm currently using my Vibrant for work. In order to connect to corporate email I am required to have security protocols in place that requires me to enter in an alpha-numeric password containing 8+ characters every time I wake the device. As you could imagine is it a real pain to plug in the lengthy password every time I want to use my phone. If I disable the security, my email will not allow me to connect to corporate. What would be great is if there was a way to use the pattern lock, and a correct input on that would plug in my alpha-numeric password automatically and unlock the screen so I would not have to type it every time. Does anyone know if this is possible?
Open a notepad app , type password and copy / paste .

If my work required that, and required me to read work email on a mobile device, they would be supplying said device to me.
How are they tying the email to the unlock wake on your vibrant?

As far as I know there isn't a way to do that, someone with more knowledge may be able to shine a different light on this. However, over in the Evo 4G area, there is a thread that talks about how to modify the Email.apk so you don't have to enter in a password or PIN (and it works quite well). Just keep in mind, you are the one responsible for your own actions if you get caught breaking your company's security policy.
jbeez, it is through a security profile that is pushed to the device before the initial sync occurs. The profile becomes basically a device admin and sets policy that you have to use a PIN or password to unlock the phone. It can also allow them to wipe the phone if they want. It can only do this if you agree to it. If you don't agree, you don't get mail.
Thanks for the replies folks. The local client on the device contains the security parameters. Would be nice if there is a way to script something to plug in the password automatically without having to type it. Maybe if the keys were bigger, but that does not help with having to plug in an 8+ alpha-numeric pw every time.
Take a look at this...I mean at the security removed gtab email. It might help.

I know my password but can't connect to network

Sorry if this has been answered before, I did do a few searches before posting though.
I know the google account associated with this phone, as well as the correct password (I use it daily so I'm 100% sure of the password)
I have forgotten my unlock pattern (the one you draw on the 3x3 grid).
I'd like to unlock the phone, but it doesn't remember any wifi passwords, I cant figure out how to make it connect to wifi. I also don't have a compatible SIM card, that I know of.
Is there a way to back up the phone to an SD/Computer without logging in, before resetting it? I'd just like to access the old pictures, but if my only option is a factory reset I can accept that.
Thanks for any help you can provide!

Can't disable screen lock on samsung-stang5litre edition 5.0 password

Hello,
I'm pretty good at computers but when it comes to phones I'm a dummy. I set a password in my Galaxy S5 running samsung-stang5litre edition 5.0 I just bought this phone and it had this ROM installed. I looked up instructions online for this phone to remove it (settings are not working or showing for this ROM) for this phone model and there are no instructions for this ROM. How do I remove the password or do I have to reset this phone ? If I reset the phone will it still ask for the password ? The person who sold me this phone also changed how this ROM looks and deleted almost every program out of it before I bought it. Please help me.
Found help
Since no one answered back I contacted someone to help me. I'd have never figured this out by myself. I'm so glad for his help. This is what worked.
What you have to do to remove that pin, go to Settings>Lock Screen> Screen Lock> Pattern> Setup any pattern, then setup Pin Code with it after you setup the Pattern. (You already have a Pin set in, just use it). It will ask you to type it in twice.
Now Power Off and Power On the phone it will ask for the pattern, do 5 to 6 wrong patterns, it might time you out for 30 seconds after that, on the bottom right of the phone it will say "use your Pin Code", hit that button, type in the Pin which you already setup while you were setting up your pattern, then use that Pin Code to unlock the phone. Now Power Off and Power On the phone, you shouldn't have any pin or pattern code to unlock anymore.
This worked for me.

Is Huawei pattern lock broken?

I put a pattern lock on my phone and immediately forgot it, so im locked out of my phone. I read on the internet that there should be an option to reset the password by providing the google account information, but this doesnt show up. I must have entered my password almost 20 times and now it makes me wait an hour each time I want to enter a new pattern and only gives me 3 tries before making me wait an hour. But I see no option to reset my pattern.
I found another site that said go to google findmyphone and lock the phone and it will eventually give me access if I enter my account information. So I went to findmyphone on google and there were 3 options, 1. Make noise, 2. Secure Phone, and 3. Factory Reset Phone. So I clicked on 2 to secure the phone, but I think it logged the phone out of google and now google findmyphone says "can't reach device", wtf????
My question is this:
Is Huawei pattern lock broken since it doesnt have the option to reset password or are all android phone like this?
Because the only options I see are to enter my pattern, to make an emergency call, or to go back. There is no reset/recover password option
google says my phone is Huawei Nova. Apparently the model is was-al00. The phone had Android 8.0 and it was up to date with security updates.
I did multiple searches trying to find more information about this but couldnt find anything. I did find an xda thread about someone who forgot their pattern and also forgot their google account information but that was from 5 years ago https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/lock-pattern-recovery-email-huawei-y360.3226967/. Maybe the sanctions america put on Huawei have something to do with this?
Hey there! Have you found the solution?
