Kindle on dual screen - LG V60 ThinQ Questions & Answers

I was wondering what the dual screen experience is like with the Kindle app? Do you have to open two instances or just one? And how does the text display across both screens?
Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk

When I saw your question I was curious about this as well so I installed it and opened a few books. It works fin on one display of course but when you force it to span across both displays the hinge cuts off a lot of it and its really unusable. In landscape it isn't much better unfortunately.

Thanks for the update. Too bad the two page option in the Kindle app is only available in landscape mode.
I'm not sure Amazon will be updating their app for dual screen support any time soon.

Have you tried using the Kindle app in combination with WideMode for LG?

Ah... Interesting, didn't know about wide mode. I don't have the device yet.
@yujikaido79, I'm wondering can you download LG wide mode and see if the Kindle app will usefully display across both screens?
Sent from my HD1925 using Tapatalk

Yeah I already tried it with the LG wide mode app been using it since i got the phone. I will attach some pics. I wouldn't use it personally.

Thanks trying and for the screenshot. No dual screen case for me. I've owned the v20 and g8. I miss the DAC a lot. So I might still go for it, less the dual screen case.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to read something like that either. Ah well, it was worth a shot!

I use this app and split it into two columns in settings and have Tasker open it in wide view automatically with the lg g8x wide view plugin...

[Q] Camera in portrait?

Hi, I just got a RAZR today, my friend Cody bought me one because I gave him a ride to go see Chronicle, and I love it so far.
The only problem is, when using the camera, it sticks in landscape.
I find that pretty annoying, because with AOSP/MIUI cameras, I mostly use it in portrait.
Does anyone know how to get it to change to portrait????
Thanks!
To clarify, whats in portrait? The camera app or the gallery after u take the pics? The camera is in the same position regardless of orientation.
You can try checking your screen orientation toggle if its the gallery your referring to after you take the pics
Sent from my DROID RAZR using XDA App
Mine does it too. Either you can install a different camera app or live with it. The reason it does it is so that you have access to the different settings.

Home Screen Rotation

Some where I read in the reviews that finally Sense 4.0 provides hone screen rotation, but today I check the phone in sprint store and it does not...Now I know that I can use 3rd party launchers but then I will lose sense advantages...What is with android and home screen rotation is it another of of the apple patent thing?

I will do it in Car mode even after you exit car mode if using the HTC Dock. It will also do it when using media link.
I am not sure why they won't allow us to do it at will though. I would like this to happen.

with sense or without sense?
Is there a way to achieve this without flashing a ROM? is there a build.prop setting that could be changed? it does work in car mode after all....
You need a modified rosie.apk. You need to be rooted to change it but don't need to be bootloader unlocked. There are threads about it on here.

With sense. There are a couple of ways to do it.... If you do not want to root, you can get app from the play store that will rotate the home screen..... I forget the name of the app though....
Or you can flash a custom rom... I m using charmeleon rom and there is an option for screen rotation.

If I were you, I would just wait for the sgs3 to come out.... So you can compare the two and make your choice then.
Also you can check out reviews of it and there will be reviews directly comparing both.....

yeah that is the plan, not leaning more towards evo though, as i have used only htc phones sgs2 is the only samsung phone i owned...but yes will wait one more week and see...thank you so much for providing me correct info, if i had asked this kind of question in SGS2 forum, being an evo owner, i would be dead by now..
The app is rotation locker from playstore. After installing click on it and longpress auto rotate. Bamm you have landscape rosie

As others have mentioned it does rotate home screen and app screens if you exit car mode with the phone still docked. I have not been able to rotate these screens outside of the dock, however.

I am still not getting the answer...Is it because os some patent infringement or something else?
I have tried a few android phones and none seem to provide it. Now I tried apex launcher, go launcher and others and they can provide it, so I am still not sure why we do not get it in stock launchers?
Rotation locker worked great on my phone but has one maybe unknown side effect. If you have it set to permanently stay on landscape or you have the auto rotation feature enabled and you enter the camera app you will be in for a nice treat.
The camera app focus disorients and everything looks funny and in a strange angle. You have to aet tthe phone to portrait mode so everything could go back to normal.
Other than that, the app works great!

Just tested it and it worked fine. I think you can only do it from videos on the phone, and not YouTube or anything. Just film a 20 second or so video and while its playing tap the screen so the icons show up and tap the one that looks like two rectangle just off center from each other.

Actually YouTube works with it that was a big talking point in comparison with this feature and Samsung's multiview

I was really hoping QSlide would be a more innovative/useful feature than it turned out to be :/
I wonder if devs can implement it better in CM.

Likes/Dislikes Verizon Galaxy Note 3

I have literally had my phone for less than a few hours. But I thought it would be a great idea to share likes and dislikes.
Little bit of background, I am coming from a Note 2, so most of my likes/dislikes will be catered toward the upgrade from the Note 2.
Likes -
Mostly Everything LOL,
the screen resolution
the vibrant colors,
super fast,
the plethora of options,
blocking mode finally works,
no wifi nag notification,
wifi toggle works.
Dislikes -
The internet browser no longer sync with google,
can not use multiple lock screen widgets w/password or pattern lock,
4x4 grid on touchwiz (will be switching to nova).
I will update my list once I get to fully dive in. But so far 9.9999999999/10
I had mine for about an half hour. The best thing so far to me is the settings screen is 1 menu instead of 4 tabs . Sometimes its just the little things
Loving mostly everything, but again have only messed with it for a short time.
Only gripes so far is font sizes and in general DPI is just way too big and obnoxious. And lag when typing on the keyboard.
Let's go root!

Yep. One screen.
Keyboard is amazing, no need for swiftkey.
Id rather have the tabs so you dont have to scroll dow a huge list like on my note 2. But ghsts not a big deal. Im glad you can use blocking mode, and the wifi is back to normal.

You can change that in the messenger app settings. Enable message preview and it will scroll the message in the status bar like normal.
I'm so jealous right now. I would have mine now too, if I didn't change the shipping address to the correct one. So they can't ship it until tomorrow. So i am going to call to see if I can pick it up later this evening...

Agree with pretty much all of the likes so far, which is mostly everything about the device. My 4G speeds seem to have improved too.
Some nitpicks:
-new S-Pen feels much cheaply made than Note 2's
-Flipbook keeps getting activated when I hit the home button and accidentally brush by the screen
-Screen brightness range is WAY TOO SMALL (minimum brightness is too bright)
Several complains: desktop view does not stay on. I do not see the Note 2 developers options. I cannot remove the Verizon bookmarks as I was able to do before and restore from a save.
I think u have to tap on something in the menu 7 times to get dev options to show up. Saw it in a review somewhere

Browser zoom

Might be a stupid question...I come from a long line of moto droids. On all of them, if I double tap in the browser, not only would it zoom, but it would also realign the now larger text to fit the screen. Is there a way to do that on the Samsungs? I hate coming in a news article then have to swipe side to side to read all the words

Are you running stock browser on 4.3 or a custom rom? There's dozens of browsers to try though, I'm sure one will meet your needs.
In running beans 22 rom. Stock browser. Over the years I've fiddled with nearly every browser it there and I've always found the stock the most comfortable. Maybe that's because the zoom always worked the way I wanted it to.

It's under settings>advanced in the stock browser. Check the box for auto fit pages
I last used the stock browser when I first bought the phone. Been using Dolphin browser ever since. When I double tap, it zooms in enough to fit the block of text that you double tapped on. It is useful in that it depends on where you tap it
