[Q] 3g 2g switcher app

Is there any 2G 3G switcher app for g3 .... Most of the apps in maket just take you to the setting menu where non Samsung / galaxy phones can choose between 2g and 3g.. but since we dont have that option is there a work arnd, ??? i baiscally want to be in 2g mode till i unlock the phone.... no point paying for data and losing battery at the same time....
You could use tasker to automate this. It is not free, but worth every cent. I for example use tasker to switch to 2g when screen is off and to 3g when its on. Due to some problems with cm7 on sgs it takes some seconds, but i am pretty sure it works well on g3

You can also install extended controls from the market. It's an app to make a widget with much toggles. Wifi on/off, 3g/2g switcher, gps,...

Got Tasker still figuring it out its not the simplest app out there

Enable 3G/LTE Toggle?

Anyone know how to toggle 3g now? I would like to use it as default and only enable LTE when needed because the battery drain is crazy for LTE. However, as we all known, the dropdown 3g toggle is not there. I see an access point menu but whenever I select EHRPD the phone remains on 4G. Is there a way to get the EHRPD selection to "stick" or is there another way to solve this?

depends on what your running, and what provider you have. Most cases can be fixed with a LTE toggle app from the market. This doesn't work with Verizon on stock rom (last time I checked). However, I have Verizon with Note II running liquidsmooth android 4.2.2, and for me it's as simple as setting CDMA/EVDO under settings > wireless & networks > More... > mobile networks > network mode

Okay. I am using Jelly'Beans' rom for Verizon's Note II. But the toggle for CDMA is removed in there. So should I ask for it in that thread?

bump.
I am using the same rom, and would love to have this functionality as 3G works better at my work than 4G.

Found the old phone info app online and that took care of the issue. The new phone info app on the market does not have the capability to set network modes.

[Q] [HELP] SGH-i717 JB Update - running slowly and no wireless hotspot/usbtethering

Hi guys
So recenlty I updated my AT&T Galaxy Note (SGH-I717) to Jelly bean (4.1.2) after the ICS rom which was running perfect and very smootly, ALL features working,
First off I should let you know, I bought it from eBay, I live in South Africa, so obviously there are different carriers.
I had to unlock my phone to use South African carriers
Now, my Note is has these to problem (not such a big concern and where is the internet when you REALLY need it)
My device IS rooted
a. At times very slow, delayed at times
b. When I enable WiFi hotspot tethering I get an error - Mobile data is not available or invalid SIM (priority)
has anyone else had this problem???
easy native (sort of) fix
so for those of you who are still in need of a fix, i found a couple of solutions among decomiling your frameworkres apk and changing/moding a file
but the best fix for me, which seems to make use of the native wifi hotspot is the app called "Portable Wifi hotspot free"
you can get it at the playstore, it free and works great,
(not sure if root is required, i am rooted already)
hope this helps
:good:
Disable ripple effect for your lag issue.

Mi Pad 4 GPS function?

I am looking at buying a mi pad 4 as a present, but I'm looking for a tablet with GPS function.
I note the wifi version does not have GPS, but I believe the LTE version does.
My question is:- As the 4G bands are not the UK bands, I don't believe a UK SIM will work in the device, therefore will the GPS work in the UK, if there is no SIM installed?
Yest, GPS will work.

Wich Provider and whick LTE Bands use your Provider?
GPS will work without Sim Card
The uk providers use either band 3 (1800mhz), 7 (2600mhz) & all four providers use band 20 (800mhz).
my current provider uses only band 20, but I'm willing to swap
"Yest, GPS will work."
"GPS will work without Sim Card"
Unless it does not. Eg: the GPS testing application shows good reception and correct coordinates, but google maps (and some other apps) cannot use it, and there really is no single answer why and how to fix it.
I have read about the error in drivers.

I think is SW issue. Actually, app related one. Probably some xiaomi implementation is to blame but if some app work as they should (here maps for me) and others don't (your local weather that work just fine on moto x play with aosp extended) then it should be possible to fix this on the app side.

Definitely, I'm positive though the google won't touch their maps or chrome apps to fix them on non-certified platform

Maybe this working,, download "set edit(settings database editor)" from market then open it,, look for this line " hw_networkmode_preference" then click on this line then choose "edit value" clear all then put 11 and reboot,, after that from settings > mobile data > preferred network mode and you will see more options, maybe this help..
Important :
Before you edit anything or that line take screen shot first from the old values ,, In case you like to go back to it.. and don't edit anythings else,,
I think you cannot turn it off 4G+ and maintain 4G only. It is related to the network.
You can't disable 4G+ but you can choose and lock a specific 4G band. You need to root your device for that. In Qualcomm smartphones you can download "Network Signal Guru" app from Play Store then give root permission to lock a band and get rid of 4G Plus.
Please turn off my 4G Plus
There is a app Samsung Band Selection. I was able to block LTE+. But only for Samsung I think, try. I'm probably EM lte+ sensitive. I feel like burning in fingers when lte+ is on...

Bro the drawback is that the app should be kept running is not there any permanent solution or other setting without keeping the app running in background

You don't need to keep that app, you can uninstall it after the locking procedure.

What about non root phones is there any solution for them?

There's no solution for non rooted Qualcomm based smartphones. Some smartphones based on MediaTek & old Samsung smartphones used to support band lock without root.
