Problems installing EU rom - Xiaomi Mi 10 Questions & Answers

Hi everyone, on MI 10 EEA, global, after the BL unlocked I can't install EU rom.
Installed 2 Twrp's, formatted data, installed the EU rom and rebooted, the phone is stuck on the 5G logo.
Same thing with the factory reset.
Someone has installed successfully the EU rom?

Hi stephano,
Try with this recovery:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-1CSfT4lQwFZngu6RI9eowLA9CmEMEPw/view?usp=drivesdk
After boot into recovery, format data connect your mi10 to your PC and copy the rom on your smartphone and install xiaomi.eu rom.
Tell me if it is ok, it is the way i use and it's working great.

Hi, thanks, not installed at the moment but 1 question, do you have the mi 10 china or global phone? Because for china phone Twrp's works, on global phone (1 sim) does not work.

Hi,
My MI 10 is a global version with b20 band and 1 sim only (buy in France)
I confirm this twrp I share with you works on global phone.
This is the one I used for me and a friend of mine.
I stay tuned if you need help ?

Hi, tried but nothing. Installed the twrp, formatted data, installed the rom and rebooted is stuck in 5G logo for 6 min. Force reboot but the same.
Rebooted to twrp again, the system is read only, can't install anything via twrp.
Reinstalled the twrp again via fastboot but the same ****.
Only way to reinstall Global EEA via Miflash and wait for a better recovery

Ok,
This recovery work.. I successfully flash Rom on my Mi 10
The problem is that your recovery is read partition only I think
Try this:
when you boot in twrp for the first time you have to swipe to allow modification.
1 step: format data in twrp
2 step: reboot in fastboot
3 step: re-flash twrp
4 step: boot in twrp and swipe to allow modification (don't choose read only)
5 step: format data in twrp (not only wipe data)
6 step: connect your phone to PC and copy Xiaomi eu rom from PC to Mi 10
7 step: flash rom

Im not agree with you. Playing powerfull games the global version is better than weekly EU (for example I have "jumps" in graphics tender of the environtment in RealRacing3, and scrolls of environtment in ModernCombat5 is smoothest in global version).

You guys will need an authorized beta account unless you want to flash the ROM via TWRP Recovery
So, I updated without an authorized account though TWRP. As soon as I tried to reboot to system, it brought me back to TWRP.
I suppose I had to disable encryption all over again so I formatted Data, installed the update again and started to move the required zip for Magisk and encryption disabling back in the internal memory. During the installation the system rebooted (I didn't ask to, the first time it didn't reboot til I asked) and something crashed on the first screen pf MIUI 10. Then it decided to reboot again to recovery... and the TWRP was gone, I have the MIUI stock recovery again. Anyway, I formatted the data once more and the system is running without problems now.
tldr: Updated, data was deleted, TWRP is gone, system seems good

I had the 3.2.3 and global 8.8.7, same as you. Maybe you formatted data before flashing? That's the only thing I can think of.
Anyway, an happy feedback: Gps is working after few hours, that's what pushed me to try this update

Flashing orangefox recovery in mi 9t pro

Hi guys, I'm not sure if my post is a repeat or not but boy i wasted a whole Sunday trying to flash orangefox recovery.
I used an early version of it because i didn't know there was a newer one, wasted all day unable to boot to the recovery and having to flash full rom with miflash LOL. So to save your time here's what i did. I ASSUME YOUR BOOTLOADER IS UNLOCKED
1. This is the latest orangefox recovery Version: R10.0_7: https://c.mi.com/thread-2482912-1-0.html
EDIT, NEW VERSION: https://files.orangefox.tech/OrangeFox-Stable/raphael/OrangeFox-R10.0_8-Stable-raphael.zip
2. Download the latest full Recovery ROM of Mi 9T pro global V10.3.2.0.PFKMIXM from here: http://bigota.d.miui.com/V10.3.2.0.PFKMIXM/miui_RAPHAELGlobal_V10.3.2.0.PFKMIXM_55396ac730_9.0.zip
3. UNZIP the orangefox recovery file, you'll see an image file called RECOVERY.
4. Now fastboot flash that recovery RECOVERY NAME OR LOCATION. After flash succeeds, press and hold volume up + power button until you feel the vibration and then if done properly your phone will boot to orangefox recovery.
4. From there now, copy paste the full orange fox recovery zip file to your phone's internal storage, locate it and then swipe to install the recovery again so as to make the recovery permanent.
5. IMPORTANT, after you swipe it will reboot itself to recovery again in 5 secs, YOU HAVE TO WIPE DATA otherwise your phone won't boot up, so go to MENU-MANAGE PARTITION-DATA-OK-TYPE YES. Your data is erased so now you'll have to setup phone again.
6. After completing setup, reboot again back to orangefox recovery by pressing volume up and power button. From there go to MENU, click on settings icon on top right, locate and select MIUI OTA, in there select all check boxes, I selected all checkboxes but not sure if it's a must but since nothing wrong happened to me you can follow me [emoji1787]. In there you will see a message where it tells you to FLASH A FULL MIUI ROM!, So transfer the Recovery ROM you downloaded to your phone and do the “Swipe to install” action. Wait for the OrangeFox to finish its job flashing the ROM. It may take a while because Orangefox also takes “OTA_BAK” backup process. The backup file is located at /sdcard/Fox/OTA/ directory. Do not delete that directory and its files, otherwise the OTA update will fail.
7. After flashing is done, reboot and if successful, good news your phone is ready for OTAs.
NOTE: What I'm not sure is if it will survive Android 10, because Mi 9T Pro Global is still at Android 9.

I always just flash the orange fox zip through twrp, one advantage I had with orange fox on my Poco f1 was some ROMs wouldn't flash through TWRP but they would flash successfully through orange fox so on my mi 9t pro as soon as I unlock bootloader in a few days I'm going to use orange fox on it.
i followed the procedure, after flash the twrp i directly boot into twrp and its a success, then i reboot to system.. after that i tried once again to reboot back to twrp but it ended up to mi - recovery 3.0 i'm currently on Global Mi 9T ROM

After you flash TWRP, reboot to TWRP by holding power and volume up until you feel vibration. Then wipe data, Now save the Disable_Dm-Verity file (LINK: https://bit.ly/2Xo1XJ3) on your phone and flash the same. This will make your TWRP permanent.
But wait, by TWRP do you mean Orangefox?

Problem install custom rom via TWRP

My device is Mi 10 5G (umi). I have unlocked bootloader and install rom Xiaomi.eu 20.3.28.
Today, I go into TWRP, do wipe Art cache/Davilk, Data, System, Cache then format data.
Then I reboot to install another room. But now it got stuck there.
Sometimes it says System_root file is read only and cannot mounted. When I could manage to mount system, I could not install any rom. It fail after system partition unpacking. It says that /system can not mounted and keep bootloader to stuck with TWRP. I do not know how to deal with it.
Please help me!

Question Can i downgrade from miui 13 to 12 without loosing data?

I should have been more careful before updating coz after the update i realized that twrp won't work on miui 13. I can fastboot recovery but the internal storage is encrypted and it shows 0 MB. I need root, so i am thinking of downgrading to 12.5 again. Can i do that without loosing data? Also how can i downgrade? Should i just download fastboot version of the rom and update it?

you can't update from 13 to 12.5 you need to erase all your data , it's mandatory...
Just flash the fastboot rom with Mi Flash and tick "Clean All" so after MIUI boot you can flash twrp and other ROM again
Already messed it up :-( Can you please tell me which fastboot rom i should flash... I was using eu rom but even after flashing it phone boots to mi recovery.
Hey, yesterday I flashed xiaomi eu stable MIUI 13.0.3 by their script.
To do it,
1) put the phone in fastboot mode
2) just run the script by double clicking on it, however you need the file with data_format on the end.
If your phone does bootloop and go back to MIUI Recovery 5.0 like mine did yesterday, you can fix it by wiping all data in this recovery it boots up to and then restarting the phone. It worked for me and my friend.

Just so you know if you ever need this again.
You dont need recovery at all to get root.
Just fastboot pached boot image.

I didnt know this.. I won't go to MIUI 13 again coz there are no recoveries for it and it cant be decrypted for now but its good to know that i dont need recovery for root. Thank you!
I installed today CherishOS A12. Tbh cool rom, doesn't work that bad. A lot better than miui though. Animations are nice and long, plus the phone is fast.
