Found a 3rd party multi-port charger that supports SuperFast Charging on S20 Ultra - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Accessories

I know there don't seem to be a lot of 3rd party chargers that are capable of "Super Fast Charging" on the S20, but just wanted to drop a quick note that I found one.
I travel (well usually..) a bit, and try to consolidate my chargers a bit so I'm always on the lookout for decent multi-port adapters. As everyone knows, there are a ton of high powered adapters out there that you would hope give us the juice, but if you have read a bit - Samsung not only requires a PD port, but also PPS - and there aren't a whole of lot of adapters that support them.
I was hoping to pick a new adapter up to try and keep my Surface Go and S20 Ultra charged up, and not be a huge brick and came across this 65W 3-port bad boy: https://amzn.to/2L5d2uf from a company called Baseus. I have a couple of cables from them and they also seem to be popular on Aliepxress as well as Amazon, so decided to give it a try.
Got it in last night and paired it with a new USB 3.1 Gen 2 100W cable that I also just picked up, and lo and behold - I plugged that sucker in and "SUPER FAST CHARGING 2.0" popped up on the screen when using the top USB - C port.
Interestingly enough the second power only registered "SUPER FAST CHARGING" (no 2.0) and the USB-A QC port registered as "FAST CHARGING." Reading through the documentation it's because the first port can give the whole 65W, the second tops at 30W, and of course USB-A is limited. I guess that makes sense since Super Fast 2.0 is 45W with the Samsung OEM charger.
Bottom line, if you are looking for a 3rd party multiport that supports the max charging on the S20 (and I assume Note 10) - this one does the trick. I got mine on Amazon (they had US stock so came relatively quick) - but if you are willing to wait, can probably pick it up on Aliexpress or other source for cheaper.

I bought it for my laptop 4 months ago now its the only charger I use .

Nice! -- my primary use was for my Surface, and I didn't think I'd get the highest charge with the S20U, but was a pleasant surprise.

I got an Ugreen USB C Charger 36W with 2 Type C ports that works as a Super Fast Charger

You can use any PPS PD charger like baseus 65W on aliexpress but super fast 2 will not be real.
Many chargers trigger Super Fast Charging 2.0 but before You will celebrate, please run battery charging monitor from play store. It will draw a charging curve. Almost all non samsung chargers will oscilate. You wil see around 6000ma and after 2-3s it will drop to 500, and again and again.
This can damage your device, and will take a long time to charge

Thanks for the heads up. I ran the app for a few minutes on the BaseUS charger and didn't see any of the dramatic dips as you mentioned above - so I'm hoping that's a good thing. Looks like a pretty consistent curve.

The charging current you are getting is not Super Fast Charging 2.0 even though it says so in your notification bar. This is mine with Super Fast Charging 2.0 using the Samsung charger and cable. Battery Charging Monitor will report a higher charging current.

Also wanted to add that the Xiaomi Powerbank 3 Pro with USB PD will charge the S20 Ultra at Super Fast Charging 2.0 and at 5A with the supplied samsung cable. And aftermarket Baseus USB C cable only gives 3A.

Interesting -- well, I guess my takeaway is that it isn't TRUE 2.0 super fast - but also it hopefully won't fry my battery! (i.e. not as fast as I'd like, but at least not going to damage the battery).

I tried my test with a couple of 100W-rated USB 3.1 gen 2 cables - so it definitely wasn't the cables. But goes to show that cables are an important part of the equation too!

SFC 2.0 require e-marked cables to work, as well as compatible pps charger.
IMHO the best option is to get 45w samsung charger. Other brands are hit or miss.

2 amp charger

I've been hearing a lot about these 2 amp chargers charging devices really really fast. I heard them talking about it on the podcast also but I was wondering if they were safe to use with this device? If so I'm gonna purchase a few. I don't want to damage my new battery so that's why I'm posting this. Thanks.

I charge my N3 with the original charger (2A/5v) and bought a 2 meter usb cable, its 100% fullly charged in about 1-1,5 hrs i guess.
I have A 4Ah charger but with 4 ports can go as high as 2amps on a single port.
Usually it charges at 1amp.
Intelligent charger so ramps down charge when needed

It looks pretty good!!!!!! but I charge my Note3 with the original charger (2A/5v). Thanks for your post.
The original stock charger 5.3V 2.0A is the fastest, it was made for the note 3, even a 5V 2.0A will be slightly slower.
Do also note that the cable plays an important part in the charging time especially in my case where I'm using a third party cable and charger.
Using the following app, it can show how much current it's currently charging. Here mine, post yours if higher then mine. Can someone post the screenshot using the original samsung usb cable and charger as a reference too?

Just got my Note 3. It charges at 1800mAh on the stock charger (see pic).
It's weird though, because my Galaxy S4 charges at 1900mAh on its stock charger. I assumed that with USB 3.0, the Note 3 would somehow charge at a faster rate.

Thanks for the info. I tried charging with a third party USB3.0 cable and a third party charger and it did reaches to 1800mAh.
Using USB3.0 and USB2.0 cable does make a-bit of difference.
The upcoming Oppo Find 7 have this 4.5A charger that provide a technology call VOOC charging.

USB 3.0 makes a difference only to data transfer and not charging the battery when compared to USB 2.

You are right. USB 3.0, the latest version of USB (Universal Serial Bus), provides better speed and more efficient power management than USB 2.0. USB 3.0 is backward compatible with USB 2.0 devices; however, data transfer speeds are limited to USB 2.0 levels when these devices inter-operate.

First USB type C device Question

Coming from samsung devices I have several samsung fast chargers (wall chargers) from note 5, S6 and S7, Plus Belkin car fast charger.
I tried to find out if these wall chargers will work with the G5 or not but it went very complicated for me to know?
And if they will work without any damage, what type of USB type C cables to order?
I appreciate some help as I am confused, I need several chargers due to ny job most of day in the office and in the street.
Thanks
For charging it shouldnt be any diffrent from a normal one.... Try searching Usb Type A to Usb Type c.. is this what you want ?

I have noticed that G5 is rather picky about fast charging adapter. Below are my observations:
Good results:
G5 with G5 adapter (rated 9V 1.8A) - fast charging (2000 mA)
G5 with Nexus6 adapter (rated 12V 1.2A) - fast charging (2000 mA)
G5 with HTC QC 2.0 certified adapter (rated 12V 1.5A) - fast charging (2000 mA)
Bad results:
G5 with Samsung fast charging travel adapter (rated 5V 2A) - slow charging (500 mA)
G5 with Asus fast charging adapter (rated 9V 2A) - slow charging (500 mA)
G5 with Nexus5X fast charging adapter (rated 5V 3A) - slow charging (500 mA)
G5 with Nexus6P fast charging adapter (rated 5V 3A) - slow charging (500 mA)
Also I have noticed that cables do not make any difference to charging: I have 5 different USB TypeA->TypeC cables and 4 different microUSB->TypeC adaptors - they show no difference to charging current at all.

Lg charger on the left. Samsung fast charger on the right. The Samsung one has slightly less output at 9v when compared to the LG fast charger that came with our phone. The first screen shot below is from the LG adapter, the 2nd one is from the Samsung charger. Notice the slightly longer estimated charging time.
The one thing I just noticed while making this comparison is how long it takes for the g5 to calculate the charging time. My s6 edge would show it immediately when you plugged it in.

I don't know if you're stateside or not, but if you are, this guy (Benson Leung) reviews all the cables to make sure they are USB-C Compliant. I only buy his 5-Star approved cables from Amazon.

Anker QC 3.0 car charger not quick charging

I recently bought the Anker Quick Charge 3.0 39W Dual USB Car Charger (Amazon link below) and, while my Pixel will charge at regular speed when plugged in, I cannot get Quick Charging to activate. I've tried multiple USB-C cables (one that came with the Pixel as well as a separate one I bought) in both of the charger's USB ports, but to no avail. The Quick Charging feature works when plugged into a compatible wall outlet (using the same cables) so I'm not sure if I'm missing something or just have a faulty charger. Any thoughts or suggestions on how to proceed would be sincerely appreciated. Thanks very much.

Thanks very much for the reply. That makes sense.
Is there a compatible car charger that activates the Pixel's QC feature? Or could it be charging at the maximum rate and perhaps just not showing the "Charging Rapidly" notification? Just trying to figure out if I should keep or return this charger.
Thanks again.

I'm sorry man but youre wrong.
I have the same charger in my car. I plug my pixel into it on my way from work to school usually at 30% and as soon as I do it'll charge rapidly and it'll state on the lockscreen that it's charging rapidly. By the time I reach school (it's only 30 mins away) the pixel is at 75-80%
So yes this should rapidly charge your pixel as it rapidly charges mine from day one.
You may have to check the voltage output going to that outlet in the car, it may just need to be recalibrated. Older cars tend to loose some voltage power. ( I know from experience in my last car)
The cable quality can also affect charging current. Download Ampere (its free). Get a decent cable recommended by Benson. It makes a huge difference in charging current and hence, speed.

Yeah always use a cable with superb quality. I use the reg usb to usbc in the car.
If you need a USB c to USB c I recommend buying one at the Apple store. Their cables are approved for the pixel and are great quality.
If you're still looking for a auto charger, you want want one that support Power delivery 2.0 not Quick Charge 2/3.0
This is the one I use.

Thanks very much to everyone for the helpful replies.
Surprisingly, the situation seems to have sorted itself out over the past week as the charger is now activating the quick charging when in use. It's not quite as strong as a wall outlet (see Ampere pics below), but it's still pretty quick and I now see the "Charging Rapidly" notification when plugged in (though it takes a few seconds to display). It really wasn't showing that notification when I first tried the charger and opened this thread, so I'm not sure what caused the change, but I'm satisfied with the charger so I'll keep it.
Here are screenshots of Ampere showing the max charging rate for both the car and wall outlet (one that came w/ Pixel) after being plugged in for 20-30 min. Is it normal that the car charger's max rate is slightly slower than the wall? Thanks again, all. I sincerely appreciate the help and info.

Fast Wireless Charger - those stories were true

So I picked up my S8 yesterday, and those stories that came out a week or so ago about needing the new $90(USD) Samsung Fast Wireless Charger in order to fast-charge wirelessly were true!
I have that Samsung fast-charge wireless charger from last year (the one that came out with the Note 7) (https://www.amazon.ca/Genuine-Samsu...2614821&sr=8-10&keywords=samsung+fast+charger) and it doesn't fast charge my stupid phone!
And before you guys ask, yes, it is plugged into a fast charge brick (the one that came with the phone). And I *do* have wireless fast charging turned on on the S8. It's hidden in a weird spot in the settings, but it's there.
I tried it with a flat charger that I picked up on Amazon (https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01N8RGTJV/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) only because it was USB-C, and that one fast-charges it. Not sure why the one Samsung released 6 months ago doesn't do it.
Are you using a different cable than what came with the charger? I've noticed that sometimes the cable can affect the charging rate of the wireless charger (noticed it with the fast charging stand I just got after using it with my S7E).

The Samsung fast charging stand didn't come with its own cable (here in Canada, at least) - so there's no correct cable to use. And I can't use the cable that came with my S8 because that's USB-C. I'm using a plain old anker USB-A to Micro cable.

Honestly, that may be your issue. Do you have any other cables you could use? You could also buy an oem galaxy s7 cable. Again, I had plugged in my fast charger using a cable that I use to charge my wireless mouse, and it wouldn't fast charge, but using the cable that came with the charger or the original s7 cable does let it fast charge.

Thanks for the suggestion - I'll troubleshoot the issue. Don't have a lot of micro-USB cables laying around these days, but enough that I can try to isolate that as a cause if possible.
@KWoods41
Did you use the fast wireless charger from the Note 7 / S7 with one of these devices before?
I have a non original one
(same design as here - https://www.amazon.ca/Genuine-Samsu...2614821&sr=8-10&keywords=samsung+fast+charger).
I have two of them one does turn on/of repeatly for about half a minute then carges the S8 with normal wireless charing (5W). The other charges the S8 from the beginning with fast wireless charging (10W). Bothe same cable and QC 2.0 Wallplug)
But keep in mind that one of them had these problem from beginning even with my S7.
If you use the included USB-C to Micro-USB adapter of the S8 and plug this on the cabel that goes into your old (S7) wirelles charger and then in your S8 does it charge fast then or normal?
The fast charger I have for my S7 Edge, fast charges my S8. It's the round, upright Samsung charger. It even says fast charging when I place it on the charger. I use the cable that came with my S7E connected to the charger.
Sent from my SM-G950U using XDA-Developers Legacy app
No problems wireless fast charging here either. Same charger as I used with my S7, 1 year old or so. Got the stand one that accepts your standard micro usb. You gotta make sure you have the adaptive power wall outlet, decent usb cable (no adapters on it), and wireless fast charging enabled in settings (mine was off for some reason).
I have a fast wireless charger I used on my GS7 and it still works for my my S8. And yes it shows "fast wireless charging".
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HNWU3AY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_12m-ybNENBHGD
My generic fast wireless charger that worked with my S7 and Note7 does not fast wireless charge my S8+ - BUT I think the previous posts have merit to them. I think the issue is that I am using a 6ft Anker cable. I'm thinking either a shorter cable, or one of the original Samsung cables, should resolve the issue. Sucks though because I need a 6ft cable to reach the outlet...

No they weren't! I have three 2016 fast chargers and they all work the same way they did with my S7e. If anything I'd say the S8 seems to charge a bit faster on them.

I have a jelly comb fast wireless charger that worked perfectly on my s7edge with the original cable and power adapter.
It does not work with the s8, unless it is used with a crazy short cable or the non-fast charger from an LG tablet.
there is a setting to turn on wireless charging? where is this?
Mine works fine as well, original flat Samsung fast charge wireless pad. Both on my work S8 and my personal S8.
My off brand generic fast wireless charger works just fine.
Just took delivery of an Anker fast charging plate from Amazon and it works in fast charging mode on my Galaxy S8! Had previously tried two Samsung fast charge plates which didn't fast charge the S8 and an Aukey model which worked for 30 seconds then stopped. The Anker one is here. It looks really nice too and has LEDs which only light up when charging starts. My only concern is that it has no fan so will need to monitor how hot the phone gets. Great for a nightstand!

Usb type c cable capable of hypercharging

Hello ARP2 fellas i am currently in search of a replacement usb-c cable for my 30W charger as the stock one ended up in my dog's menu The official Asus cable (ACAU003) which comes with the 30W charger seems harder to find and even if i managed to spot a couple of them they sell for 20+$, add the shipping fees and it will cost as much as the 30W charger itself Is there anyone around who tried an aftermaket cable capable of 30W Hypercharging? Many usb-c cables from AliExp or Ebay are marketed as 100W ones but not everyone in the comments is happy with the quick charging results on their devices and that's why i am hesitant to buy one. Any help is appreciated.

Try Baseus, usb3.1 to C works great + very good quality, but didnt try their usbC to C yet, its supposed to arrive in around a week so I can give you an update then.
Thanks Vardes, if you will not forget about it jump in and share your thoughts please. I might wait some more until someone else replies. Yeah Baseus and UGreen have a lot of positive reviews, still many people complain about their fast charging results

I would recommend Apples USB-C to USB-C cable. I have been using that since my N10+ and now ROGPHONE 2.
I'm using 2 of these mcdodo cables, 2m each rated 5a.
With the original charger from Asus I must say that the charging is very very fast. And I'm using one to charge my phone in my car, with a 30w small Baseus charger.
They have new cables tho', something with autodisconnect if u check their page but i didn't got them so i don't know how good those are.

got my baseus c to c cable, tested it today with stock charger, it has shown me hypercharge and overall charging time was around 1.5h from 8 to 100%. Overall build quality is great, braided 2m cable - almost identical to Bhl00's one, just different plugs. Here is the cable itself: http://imgur.com/gallery/A5Ee4Yy

VarDes thank you for coming back leaving your feedback here. I am happy your Baseus cable is suitable for Hypercharging, just one last favor. Can you share a link or a reference product picture of the specific Baseus cable you have bought since they have several usb-c to usb-c cables in their portfolio. Thank you in advance

Hello is your baseus c to c cable looks like this? I want to buy but afraid wrong, it's written supports PD3 and QC 4.0 though, it's shown 60W though, is this ok cause the original charger is only 30W? Just want to make sure just in case, thanks for your help !

Looks exactly like the one I have, and it is ok that it supports 60W - just means its basically futureproof and/or capable of charging a laptop .
