How to enable Carrier Aggregation on CPH 1933 which is Oppo A5 2020? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys I just wanna know how to enable carrier aggregation on this phone. My carrier claims to have Carrier aggregation and yet I don't seem to be connected to any LTE-A or 4G+ connections. Is this phone CA automatic or do I have to do something about it?
Edit:
On the LTE Physical Channel Configuration, it is only just Primary no secondary.

LTE-A/4G+ should activate automatically if network and device support same combinations. I don't know what combinations Oppo A5 support, but we can check it from modem logs.
You can get it easily from your phone. Here is instruction: https://mt-tech.fi/en/how-to-get-4g...droid-phone/#OnePlus,_Oppo_and_RealMe_devices . Could you please then send it to https://cacombos.com/contribute so i can analyze log file and then list all supported 4G combinations?
I already have some Oppo devices listed: https://cacombos.com/search?key=Oppo

Whenever I end a log, the log file has to be sent to oppo or it will be deleted. Is there any other way?

This is strange. I don't have Oppo device so i can't test but i think it will prom't after end log some dialog where you can send log to Oppo or not? When this dialog appear can you copy log to safe location so then phone can't delete log file?

Thank you for the modem log. I have parsed your log file and it's CAT4 device so it doesn't support Carrier Aggregation. But it support 64QAM UL so little bit better upload speed.
Your device support LTE bands 1,3,5,7,8,20,28,38,40,41

Oh it's CAT4? I thought this device is CAT6 cause that was what's written on most specs sites for this device, well they could be just an error. But the SOC seems to be capable of up to CAT12 but it's also not always the SOC right?

My mistake I meant X12 LTE Modem not CAT12.
Edit: I just found out X12 LTE Modem is CAT12.

X12 modem support CAT12 but there is no Carrier Aggregation combinations defined. Maybe this is due Carrier Policy or something.
Qualcomm website show what chip support but that doesn't mean manufacturer will implement all features. I think these feature cost more money for manufacturer so they will removed these on low cost devices. But there maybe have different variant with Carrier Aggregation Combinations defined. If there is full image available then there theory possible extract some data.

Well then so Oppo just didn't add support for CA on this device, I guess there's not much I can do about it. Thanks for the help.

I did the modification on cucuo92 rom
i went back to CM12.1 and noticed that TWRP restaure an NV partition... So i first told TWRP to NOT restaure this partition => phone did not boot
So i had no choice and restaured this partition after all
well I went to a town where there is ONLY LTE 800Mhz, and like I expected did not work :/
So I guess that the NV partition backup in TWRP contains the NV changes :/
Nevertheless, i'll retry this with Cucuo92 rom to be sure that this mod is working on my phone
if it is, i will create a NV backup and try to compare it with the backup I already have (cucuo rom without changes)
and then I'll try to do the exact same difference on the CM12.1 NV backup... maybe this could work
you need to use another tool to do the LTE mod, the window you are showing is the one for UMTS (3G) modification
this window need to stay open, but the LTE mod are done in one other tool

So I was reading a little deeper in the thread and a few interesting things came out to me.
CM is known (as of last September) to have added a commit to their code to prevent these changes (my guess is because of their rapid growth and wanting to play with the big manufacturers), so CM12 or CM12.1 may not successfully do this.
It seems that this only works with custom ROM's/kernels that have been compiled from source (meaning Cuoco's ROM is built off of Nubia and they likely are preventing it in the kernel)
It seems the phone has the correct modem to make this happen, but we may also need a custom radio compiled to enable these bands to work - although it seems some people in the other thread have had issues with this. Some say it works and others not so much.
There's more but I don't have time at the moment. I'll try and add more later.
The guy that stated he tried it said to use Cuoco 2.50 or so, and that it didn't work on CM. Maybe Nubia does not have the temper code in its firmware.
Exact I stay under Cuoco 2.51 because I love this rom, but maybe the guide work with CM...

This is true, they may not. It was only a presumption on my part. They have been so reluctant (okay, flat out refusing to do so) to release the source code and device tree, it wouldn't surprise me that they have this, I just don't know. Nubia/ZTE really seems like they don't care about anyone outside of China.

From what I understand from reading many of the replies in the guide, people have had a hard time making it work with CM. They have to use a different ROM.
well fo me, i enabled band 3, 7 and 20 only with the code number : 524356
I then went to a town where to only LTE is on band 20 (800Mhz) (i checked this on a french 4G => http://www.reseau4g.info/couverture-4g-orange)
and ....
NOT WORKING only 3G (too good to be true)
good part about this : i now has no reason to stay on that ****ty nubia based rom, can switch back to CM12.1
Are you sure you have activates 4G in settings > Msim Settings > Mobile Network > Phone Card One or Two ( Where is your Orange sim card ) > 4G mode, enable LTE 4G networks

yes as I have currently 4G in roaming on a 2600Mhz antenna
these are the settings i setup (i also wrote the second line just in case, but this didn't help :/)
and like I said, i'm currently in 4G but on a 2600Mhz antenna somewhere else
---------- Post added at 11:19 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:47 AM ----------
at least i can confirm that disabling a band really disable it
i just setup my phone to ONLY accept band 20, rebooted it and no more 4G at the place I am (with 4G 2600Mhz)
I guess that some manufacturer disable some bands by software (and in this case, this mod works)
and some other may actually have some hardware limitations (maybe the LTE radio can't find signals bellow 1000mhz ?
nevertheless, i will do a last test by activation all 800Mhz bands (and for course the 3 an 7 bands)
so it will be bands :
3 6 7 18 19 20 27
for code i received 68026468
I'll test this this afternoon... and update the post after getting some results
edit : i went eating in the other nearby town (800Mhz) and no 4G
so this modification is useless :/
Okay, so it seems that we've had someone on Cuoco and on Nubia test this out without success. Next we need someone with one of the versions of CM to see if it works. I'm on CM12.1 and would try, but I don't have a PC; only Mac and Linux and I'm not sure how to make this work with either one.
Well for cm12 we first need to find how to enable the dialog USB.
Cm12 only get adb and mtp or USB mass storage
And noe of the service code worked...

You have it explained here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57561965&postcount=1
You may actually control all the possible USB configs in a similar way.
And it works on a fully booted phone, and not when swiched-off.
intresting thread, i want to buy a z9 mini... there is also no FDD-LTE 20 (800mhz) for being usable in Germany...
anybody tried this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55560160&postcount=148
other question, could it be that the reciever isnt possible to get 800mhz? Then the Software edit would be not useful
Had not seen that specific thread; although, the person who wrote it was a major contributor to the one that had been pointed out earlier. A couple of the people here tried adding band 20 (in France I think) and it didn't work. From what I understand, the qualcomm modem should work without a problem, it's the radio that may be the issue. From what I've read elsewhere, if the phone is being used for bands 38-41 in China, the antenna should be suitable for the other bands people are looking into activating on the phone.

Yes, it does, but those bands aren't available in all countries. Those are TDD bands primarily used in Asian countries (thought there are others too).

but the OPO hast 38-41 and the FDD20 didnt work, see my last link
thats y iam asking.... depends on antenna, or software? Because Qualcomm Tool should be able to active FDD 20 on Qualcomm based phones.. but if the antenna doesnt support, this all is useless, thats the question now?? mhm

this is also very intressting... the LTE modem is buidl in @ processor , so it shoudl be able to add all LTE bands...
but now there is also the question if the antenna is a impotant thing or not?
for exmaple on the Nubia z9 mini, there is snapdragon 615, which is alos build in htc desire 820, Oppo R5 , Coolpad F2 LTE, Samsung Galaxy A7, ZTE Blade S6
only F2 and blade s6 dont support the 800mhz LTE band, the other 3 do...

edit: i see the s6 also has b20 support now

The B20 band is possible or not on Z7 mini ?
I'm sorry but i don't have the capacities to test it.
But actually the procedure for SOC qualcomm don't work for our device ?

I can not make service programming to read my phone. is it totally necessary? becasue qspt and qxdm are reading my phone.
I wrote with qxdm 65609 for bands 1, 4 17 (by the way, is this code alright?) but I can not get 4g to work. Any idea?
I am using quoco's rom

Pocophone F1 : Does it support VoWiFi ??

As I remember, in MIUI 8, in my Xiaomi Mi5, there was option to have VoLTE and VoWiFi, but in later MIUI9 the VoWiFi was removed.
My new provider supports VoLTE and VoWiFi so the question is; Does Poco F1 support VoWiFi ?
someone please check in wifi settings to see if wifi calling settings are present.

I dont have a Mix 2s so I dont have any more details about that.
But in anyway it has to be enabled from the carrier and then you have to configure the APN.
And Mi5 on MIUI 8.xxx had this option but not in MIUI9 any more (current 9.6.2.0 OAAMIFD, global stable)

Also none of the Indian carriers use vowifi yet.

So I tried this, and it is obviously not for my phone. I have a Mix 2s, I do not claim to be a developer at all, but if you could possibly throw some information my way, I would love to try and get this enabled on my Mi Mix 2s and test.
Question however, are you on MIUI when you edit this? I was on custom AOSP ROM, not MIUI when I put these in. Wondering if that may be why, but again, not smart enough to figure out on my own, but smart enough to follow some directions.
VoWifi is working fine on Poco, at least with German Telekom, O2 and Vodaphone. Root is required. In the Screenshot you can see the VoWifi icon active. And the settings are there too. VoLTE is good also.
Edit: Does not work on MIUI Global for the mix 2s. I looked at the build.prop file for my device and it shows that VoLTE and WiFi are not supported in the OS, so editing the build.prop wouldn't work anyways to enable the radio. Was hoping to honestly just get the radios able to be toggled so I could try them out.

This edit in build.prop is working on Poco, looks like your are running MIUI, not custom ROM correct?
I have only tried this on AOSP, in hopes whatever was needed was pulled in from device tree. I will try to add this running MIUI build.prop and cross my fingers.

Yeah, the dialer code works on miui, but only for VoLTE. My goal is to get it to enable to enable WiFi calling, even just the radio. I tried the build.prop edit line by line while on miui, just ends up soft-bricking the device. Tried the *#*#vowifi#*#* method too. I think it works on the china models just fine, but not the global (mix 2s, not Poco). I checked everywhere in miui for settings even remotely related, and they were nowhere to be found. Pretty sure they straight up just designed the global version to not have this feature at all. Luckily mounting system, pushing the correct file and setting permission makes it a quick recovery. Unfortunately none of the radios enabled at all.
@sanjay0501
So yeah, it was my fault completely soft-bricking my device like 10 times because I forgot to fix permissions on the build.prop file after the edit (facepalm). The irony is, I remembered to fix every-time I pushed the working build.prop file after the restore.
@der_Kief
I'm going to try to get my radio fixed modifying the instructions for a US based carrier, now that the fog over my brain has cleared up a bit.
Making progress... I am at work without the original cable and cannot get my device to be recognized as a com port with the cable I am using. Hoping when I get home I can fix this ASAP, as I desperately need some WiFi calling.

With Global Stable 10.2.2.0 or with the latest Global Dev Roms there is VoLTE and VoWiFi support at least with Greece's Cosmote carrier. Using:
dial *#*#86583#*#* (for volte - should state "disabled" in the message)
dial *#*#869434#*#* (for vowifi- should state "disabled" in the message)
dial *#*#4636#*#* for information
Also in the APN settings you should also add the string ",ims" so that the string "default, supl" to become "default, supl, ims". Like:

Hi, since you know more about this phone I have a quick question
I got G955N and I'm running on this ROM

ATT_pie_detonator_bigTINY_G95X_N950.zip for AT&T
TMB_pie_detonator_bigTINY_G95X_N950.zip for T Mobile
T-Mobile detonator works perfectly and I love that you kept it minimal to only get all the needed features working.
I'd appreciate a T-Mobile bootlogo removal though tbh
Sorry, I have done quite a few searches, but haven't found any clear instructions on how to install these files. I have a N950F, but use it on ATT, and would like to get wifi calling working. Any help would be appreciated.
I'm new to this. I also am unclear on how to install.
G950F, TWRP 3.4.0 and Magisk 20.4 running. Using Tmobile.
Is this something I have to flash via TWRP or via Odin? And how do I tell which Tmobile file to flash?
I went ahead and just tried to install it the best I knew how.
Phone: SM-G950F Firmware: G950FXXSBDTJ1 Security Patch: October 1, 2020
Carrier T-mobile USA.
I used TWRP 3.4.0 to flash “TMB_pie_detonator_bigTINY_G95X_N950.zip”.
In "Settings>Software Information>Service provider SW ver."
initial CSC was XEU/XEU/OPS.
post detonator it is TMB/TMB/OPS.
I note VoLTE and Wifi Calling options are now present in the drop down menu.
I note HD+ icon during calls now.
I note the 'signal strength' icon on the top now says 4G LTE instead of just 4G.
I'm experiencing poor signal strength and was hoping flashing detonator and getting CSC 'right' for TMO network would help. It has not. Still low download (~5Mbps) and very poor upload (~0.1-0.05Mbps).
My home/neighborhood has lackluster 4g coverage, one of few spots. The TMO-Sprint merger is partly to blame - they're transitioning sprint towers to TMO/making infrastructure changes due to merger. I'm informed things should improve in coming months.
I have yet to test whether everything works 'right'. So far it looks okay, but i'm setting up the G950F as opposed to using it, and instead to give up trying to make the G950F work as I need it to on Tmobile and go for a Pixel 4a 5G on Google Fi and hope that the difference in phone, and the 5g, and ability to switch between networks will meet my needs.
As another poster noted, the tmobile startup splash screen is annoying. I imagine one could hunt for which file to remove from the detonator and repackage it.
That said, thanks to the developers for this tool. It allowed me to answer whether or not optimizing the G950F for the Tmobile USA network would improve signal strength. As such I no longer have to wonder if there was a way to make the G950F work for me and perhaps in the future, when coverage improves, I might find the G950F works quite well and I can give it to a family member.
Does anyone happen to have the files and can reupload? This may be one of the last ways of obtaining t-mobile functionality for the international S8.
I am specifically looking for " TMB_pie_detonator_bigTINY_G95X_N950.zip "
The mega download link must have recently died... (or it just doesn't work for me?)
@LastQuestion any chance you still have it since you posted fairly recently and seemed to have success?
I need these files too
@Puremin0rez were you able to get them?

Huawei y7p carrier aggregation ( 4g+ )

Hello guys .. im using huawei y7p week ago ... great phone ... my device is updated to android 10 .... the only problem carrier aggregation is not working ... there is no advanced option in menu to enable CA or inside developer mode ... is this phone support CA or not even the cpu kirin 710f support it
+ is there any code or app the find LTE channel bandwith 10/15/20 mhz from huawei device like samsung service mode ?
thanks to all
i find this option inside shortcut maker
I don't know there is any easy way to check Carrier Aggregation support but i think this device support only Contiguous intra-band CA like most of low-cost Chinese devices. I will try this device to my hand and then we know what combinations this device support.
There is no Service Mode exist in Huawei devices.

Yes mostly do inter-band CA... I think you can't get CA enabled with root but you can try. I don't know what CA your Samsung A7 2017 support - if you like you can get log from Samsung so i can list device to my website. Here is instruction: https://mt-tech.fi/en/how-to-get-4g...ions-from-your-android-phone/#Samsung_Devices . Custom roms use same baseband as stock - these files are normally signed so there is no way to modify.

Even on gsmarea have same specs that doesn't tell both devices modem configuration are same... Could have different supported combinations. But of course we can guess both devices have same combinations configured...
Huawei forum answer me .. the phone not support carrier aggregation .. is this CA merge inside the cpu modem or need extra IC on motherboard to work like wifi ic ... GSMARENA was put fake specs if this phone not support carrier aggregation
They just guessing because there is no public specs about carrier aggregation. That is big problem. That is reason why i have build cacombos.com where i list devices support Carrier Aggregation.

My experience low cost Huawei and other Chinese devices (example Xiaomi, Realme) support only Carrier Aggregation Combinations used in China and Contiguous Intra-band CA. But please wait - i will test soon this device when i get so i will update then details.
Example CA i think this support is 1C, 3C, 7C, 38C; 40C, 41C and then 1+3.

I don't know why it says 4CA in Gsmarea... there is too much wrong details about CA... Yes Qualcomm modem support that but Xiaomi seems haven't implement 3CA feature - i just guess more combinations -> more expensive. It's very common Redmi series support only 2CA because in China CA is much used.
My site data is based of modem logs - if you like you can confirm it in UE Capability Information message. Here is instruction how you could get it from modem: https://mt-tech.fi/en/how-to-get-4g...hone/#Method_for_Qualcomm_Devices_before_2020

For some reason, it didn't work even after following so many guides on XDA. This inclusive.
I think there's more to just editing values on QXDM for my device.
