As the norm is, I have been busy tinkering with the stock material for couple o days, and I will continue to do so for some more time!

Query: There are too many apps running (background) all the time!! I kill them, they resurrect!, How to do away with that?
Solution applied: Used Advanced task killer (but, apps resurrect!)
Another Solution tried: In Settings>Account & Sync settings> Unchecked Background data and Auto sync options. (Now, they dont connect to the net, but, they still restart!!)
Another Solution: Force close (from Manage apps) .. (Still same issue!)
Now, How can I tell the apps to come up only when I call them!?
(And some other apps I want to schedule them to come up every hour or so.. like my Gmail/FB)

Welcome to the cool kids club! I'm in a somewhat similar situation, I got my streak just before the massive snowstorm hit. Some of those apps need to be running... if you close some of them you may not get updates/notifications, or you can shut down your phone/data connection, or lose the use of multitouch.

from what i understand, froyo is really good with resource management and there is no need to constantly kill processes or apps, its best to just leave them unless your streak is slow like a snail

well in terms of the laws of nature (in most cases) stuff doesnt happen spontaneously so i think its safe to assume that your app that "started by themselves" were probably opened somehow either by you directly or indirectly by something else. if, however, you have a large number of apps that have started that you dont recall opening, maybe something is wrong with your software and you shouldnt try to cover the problem with a task killer.
So, what next!?

(It says 7 apps killed and 180 MB free)
I open Adv task killer after 5 seconds.

and I am sure, If I wait for some more time, the other apps will join in too!
(Now it says, 3 Apps killed, 171 MB free!!)

have you tried using the stock app manager and killing the apps there? i just checked my phone and i have the same apps under the running tab using the stock manager, i think email and messaging are always running since you have push features on them, in terms of the others im not sure. whats so bad about email and messaging running anyways? im sure you use them often enough to not want to have to open and close them right?
Hey, you posted the same question over at Pocketables forum.
As stated earlier, 2.2 is really good at managing back ground tasks.
I can tell you if you use a task killer and you have a problem with an APP, which currently you do not, the programmer for the app probably will not help you till you remove the APP killer program.
What you might try to do is run though your menus and see what you have selected to run, such as locations and sync services and disable what you can. Also if you do not want some thing running, you may want to just uninstall it. I do understand that you want some programs but you only want them to run when you ask, not sure how to tell you to handle that.
But, are you seeing any difference when you have the background tasks disabled. Try to find the APK for the programs and rename them just to see if you have any issues.

But I also know that apps like Facebook, Market, Gmail, T-mobile's Media Store, MyYearBook, Maps, Aptoide, etc don't. When I force close them, they just start up a few seconds later. I've tried task killers and got the same result. I've read the "Why you shouldn't use a task killer" articles but everyone keeps saying different things about it so I'm confused.
Like many others, I want my battery to last at least half way through the day. The above mentioned apps (and some others) DRAIN THE BATTERY WHEN RUNNING IN THE BACKGROUND WHEN I DON'T WANT THEM TO.
Please does anyone know of a way to fix this?
My phone is rooted, if that matters.
Also, "freezing" the apps don't help cause then I can't use them when I actually want to.

Applications running, doesn't mean cpu cycles are being used. Sitting in memory is no different then a song sitting on your sdcard. Your issue with the battery has to do with processes using cpu cycles. If you have applications that update, force updates manually.
Just having apps in memory isn't your issue.
Use the features built into the os, find out what apps are causing the problem. Look at the settings. If you have looked at your settings, then you have one of three choices. Open bugreports with the application developers, don't install the apps causing problems, or upgrade your phone.

Thank you that makes sense.
I would think those apps would use battery because it pushes notifications for the app (like new messages and stuff). Does that not use battery?

It does use battery because to process the notification it needs to use the cpu. If you force applications to update manually. Your batter would be better. Check into battery saving tuts. All that information has already been discussed plenty. Won't change in this scenario either.
The more apps you have updating information the more data and notifications are being processed.

Also, I have another problem, if you know anything about this kinda stuff. The Facebook app icon just (like 10 minutes ago) disappeared from my home screen, and it's not in the app drawer either. I uninstalled and reinstalled and still having the problem. I can only open it by manually searching "facebook" in the google search widget and that's when it gives me the option to open the app. It's really bizzare and I have no idea what's going on.

Sounds like a issue with the rom or launcher. Try installing another launcher from the market and see if the application is installed. If its there with another launcher then its your stock launcher, if its not then its the rom.

I have not explored this and am wondering if I did this, would I notice any performance increase? My tablet isn't sluggish by any means despite Sense being what it is.
Is this something worth looking into? And more importantly, if it is, what exactly is worth freezing on the Jetstream? OR how do I go about just deleting these apps without crashing my device? I usually rely on ROMs from Devs to do these things, but being rooted, we have the ability to delete and freeze the Apps, yea?
Apps I have in mind for freezing/deleting are:
Gameloft, ATT branded bloatware, HTC Likes, HTC Hub, Featured Apps, Kid Mode, Lets Golf, Need for Speed, HTC Watch (is a hog, for some reason), Snapbooth, Teeter, YPMobile, and zinio.

i just recently installed go launcher, trying to get the device running smoother. the launcher itself isn't quicker, but he does have some pros.
one of them is the task manager widget that shows you which apps are running in the background.
i found out that google+, htc people, and some other apps are starting spontaneously, without me ever using them.
so try installing a task manager widget, and follow your background processes
interesting. I don't use g+. I will just uninstall it.
How about freezing or removing sys apps?
i froze them using titanium. no issues caused so far..
about system apps - i'm running diablo v1.2 so alot was removed already..and according to the widget non of them pop up..

I noticed something similar. I use an app called Rom Toolbox. It displays all the processes that start up with system boot. Many such as facebook, google + and a host of other things, I do not use regularly. So i just disabled the auto-start of those services using ROM Toolbox and it doesn't autorun now. Don't know how effective it is, but when I do check the running apps section under manage applications in settings, I do not see the unnecessary apps running and the memory freed up is more as compared to prior disabling. However I haven't noticed much of a difference in my daily usage of the rom hence don't know how effective it is.
I also use Quick System Information Pro. It has a task clearer widget which I find extremely useful and effective. Whenever I feel that my tab is working a bit slow, I just press on the widget icon and it clears up in the range of 200-300 MB of ram thereby preventing slow down of the tab. It does work with non-Sense launchers as well such as Go Launcher HD.
Using Titanium I uninstalled a lot of the bloatware and froze Sense. Cleared the cache and dalvik using CMW, and things have been working fine up to now. Performance-wise, no lagging and everything seems to run fine. Only kept Google's stock apps like maps and stuff, even though I don't use them.
Also note that I backed up everything I uninstalled just in case, so everything's dandy. Oh, and I reverted back to the stock kernel a while back (still rooted, though).
Quick question, if I clear the cache manually or dalvik through Titanium, does it do the same thing CMW does? It should work the same way and only need a restart, right?

I Froze all the AT&T/HTC Bloatware, however I continue to have FREEZING problems with the YouTube (even after uninstalling the Upgrade).
My work around is to use the YouTube on the stock Browser.
Hope a Permanent FIX for the YouTube app comes sooner than later
Has anyone here uses package disabler pro or adb to remove bloatware and/or system apps? If so which apps did you disable/remove? Did it affect performance and/or battery life at all?
I used the ADB method. That said, some of the software (mostly pre-installed games) can be uninstalled normally, which is nice.
For the rest, I used ADB commands in Fastboot to remove them.
I was working mostly blind, since I hadn't seen anyone with a list, but I think I wound up nuking somewhere between two and three dozen system apps.
Sadly, I didn't write out a list. I tried to err on the side of caution and not nuke anything that sounded important.
Crap like the Game of Thrones game, CNN app and other news apps, radio apps, LG versions of stuff I was using Google apps of (most LG software, actually).
I left things like LG Home and LG Dual Screen installed. Obviously didn't touch System UI or anything that seemed critical.
I also removed some AT&T garbage I don't want or need.
I just Googled up generic instructions and winged it after that.
I did all this on my first day with the phone (early April) so I really don't have any way to compare performance or battery life before and after.
But I haven't had a single performance issue with this phone in over a month of use, and battery has been absolutely beastly.
(I think you've seen a comprehensive post I made in another thread of yours that shows my software environment and how I replaced pretty much everything (launcher, navigation gesture, live wallpaper, etc.) with third-party software that I prefer).

What's the benefits to disabling all of this stuff? I've spent years debloating my devices and never actually noticed any benefit to it. It's a genuine question, as I'm deciding whether or not to do it myself as well

Do you have the commands? I need to dump chrome as it keeps re-enabling itself and I absolutely HATE chrome. Keeps giving itself permissions I've denied it as well. This has been happening several times a day for about 4 days now

For one, it just gets rid of apps and icons for crap I never wanted to begin with. I know that most third-party launchers have options to hide apps, but I wanted a solution that was a tad more permanent (though without root, this isn't a 100% wiping of these apps. It's just the best we can manage without root). Since I tend to use Google's main suite of apps for most things, and replace things like my launcher, navigation gestures, and other critical parts of the software environment with third-party solutions, I don't really want a lot of overlapping apps that I'm never going to use. So nuking things like OEM or Carrier versions of Google apps is usually one of my first priorities. Also bull**** like Device Wellness apps, Carrier promotional apps and games, duplicate contacts, gallery, keyboard, dialer, email, contacts, calendar, messaging and browser apps. All that stuff goes. I have no use for two or three different versions of all these apps on my device. I love Chrome, Google Photos, the Google Dialer, Google Contacts, Google Calendar, Google's RCS-enabled Messaging app, etc.
So for me, it's to de-clutter and to make sure I don't have duplicate functionality potentially running in the background eating up system resources, RAM, or mobile data. As long as you don't accidentally nuke something critical to the system, there's no real harm in de-bloating, even if on modern flaghsips with beastly hardware and tons of RAM, there's little performance or battery life to be gained by doing so. If nothing else, I try to keep the number of installed apps in the low 100s, and this helps on that count.

I believe I had the LG Mobile Drivers and Minimalist ADB & Fastboot already installed from my V30 days, so I skipped the first few steps, IIRC.
Or maybe I downloaded new versions and installed those. I don't remember anymore.

Back in my V20 days there was an app on the store for this. I'm assuming that's no longer the case? I have been using a rooted OnePlus for a couple of years so I'm out of the loop on this ?

LG Package Disabler, or some such? I think it's still around.
I've heard of it, though I've never actually used it.
Nor do I know if it's been updated to support the V60.
Edit - I think this is it. And there's one review that suggests that it works on the V60.

It does.. curiously look at the apps it shows disabled when I downloaded it. I disabled Android Auto and YouTube... But what the hell are this other apps? I didn't touch them

I think some of those, like the Android Device Wizard and LG Device Wizard are basically one-time apps that run whenever a phone is factory reset.
Basically, the new phone set-up screens and activations you went through when you first powered your device on after purchasing and receiving it.
They may be automatically flagged to disable themselves after that first-time run so that they don't continue to run anytime you reboot the device.
Honestly, that's just a guess, because I don't know.
I don't know about the rest of them, but you can probably Google them.

com.lge.gdec.client seems to be related to the LG G-DEC portal.

I don't have a log-in, nor do I know how to procure one, but I highly suspect that this is NOT a consumer-level feature or portal.
Perhaps it's for LG developers or existing LG employees. But if it's not consumer-level, then it's not surprising that the service is disabled by default.
LG GCUV (com.lge.gcuv) seems to be related to yet another LG sign-in portal called, appropriately enough, GCUV.

Considering how slow LG typically are in releasing new updates for even their newest phones (let alone their older ones that have not yet technically seen support hit end-of-life), I'm OK with them trying to keep down the number of system images they need to work on. Especially if they pre-disable stuff not relevant to us without us needing to do it ourselves.

Now I kind of want to know what they are as well.
If I had to take a guess, I'd say that they're intended for either LG developers, sales reps, or repair technicians, and that these disabled services facilitate the servicing of devices when needed.

That app basically does the same as disabling the apps. It won't stop Chrome from re-enabling every day. I'll try your adb commands next. So tired of that crap app doing this

I imagine the ADB commands will work. I don't plan on disabling Chrome, because I use it every day.
But when you zap a package using Fastboot, the app will still actually show up in your Apps listing under Settings, but it'll have a "not installed" next to it.
If you do a factory reset, they'll all revert and you'd need to use the Fastboot ADB commands to nuke them again.
So they're kind of half-gone.
It's not quite as comprehensive as using root to completely delete them from the system partition.
But it's the best we've got outside of root.
I can confirm this package disabler works to disable any app on the V60 which is literally the only thing I typically do when rooting now that I have adguard and youtube vanced... so I dont need root access anymore thanks to that package disabler app. The phone is also fast enough for me to not need access to any type of speed tweaking of the cpu or anything. This is the first phone I can use without root thanks to that dev.
I have significantly improved my charging speed issues and battery drain issues seem to finally drain at a normal rate rather than unexplainably quick. Everything I use still works, im experienced at minimal services tho from every device ive ever owned, pc and phone. Yes it does make a significant difference to not be running so many unnecessary processes.

Do you have a list of what you disabled?
I have the tmobile varient... This is the xml contents of the things I disabled for a stock experience. Note: I dont use google voice assistant or any pen input, nfc, or always on display... I also use youtube vanced for youtube and poweramp for music. Those are notable things I disabled imo, everything else is just added bloat to stock Android 10. Dont disable any LG Home apps as they power the navigation and also dual screens, this is safe you wont get any device bricking errors, you can always go back and toggle things on and off to your liking but this is the xml export of apps I disabled. You could copy and paste this and save as xml to import into the service disabler.

Again, all core phone features definately work like internet, messaging, phone calls, fingerprint, location, cameras, all of it as normal. There are a couple debatable apps like
com.lge.ia.task.smartsetting where I debate their impact on LGs battery management because I do believe it is possible for them to have added a particular app that improved on android 10s battery but for me im good with running with just things I know come with stock + dont break the system ui or dual screen functionality.
I just feel like companies with 1000s of employees force develop apps just to say they did something each week (+brag about in ads), and to act as if Google hasnt done a good enough job... usually companys have a couple solid apps but mostly bulky junk they think just because a phones specs are able to run a lot of things at once, its okay to toss in all kinds of extra code for the phone to have to deal with.

No problem, I will update this later on this week. Whats funny is that was my stable backup but not my very latest tweaking, when I went to export my very latest list, the app has a button to enable all disabled apps and I accidentally pressed it, so I lost those settings but am working on making sure the very best options are enabled and disabled. I will be testing and tweaking to update this base list this werk to find the cleanest, performance and battery life... (by trying out before and after of certain debatable services)
If you use this list and find a feature is disabled you use and you dont know which app it was let me know (ex google assistant) I will let you know which apps you need to reenable.
Off the top of my head, device health services and qualcomms devicestatisticservice (id suggest disabling this one) and lgs smartcare are some apps that are debatable on whether or not they are best to enable or disable..
I play a lot of fortnite (I know I know) but its literally the most battery draining thing you can do especially when combined with a bluetooth controller at full brightness, so battery performance is easy for me to monitor.. Also I was having an absolute misreable time with this device before I came here and saw that nonroot package disabler program was a thing.

There are at least two apps (that I've noticed) which seem to act strange when I run them again after running them once. The strangeness vanishes if I go into recent apps, swipe the app away, then run it from scratch. I get annoyed at having to do this frequently. Would one of the many background app killers out there achieve the same effect automatically without me having to swipe the app away? Any recommendation for a killer I can restrict to just certain apps? Is there any setting on the s21 to say "never cache this app in memory"?

No offense but it sounds like the issue is with the apps and using an app killer to autokill the app is nothing more than band aid. The app killer would be yet another service that will run in the background using up your resources. I think you would be better off contacting the developer and see if they will allow you to submit logcats so they can fix the issue(s). This would help you and potentially help others as well. I would also see if there any alternative apps that can do the same thing.

The most irritating one is the Chase mobile app. Attempting to contact the "developer" gets me chase customer service who wants to help me reinstall the app. Pleas to forward my mail to the actual developer are met with total incomprehension .
Okay. We might try going deeper here. Did the problem always exist or did it start randomly? If each one was working fine at one point it could be an update from the developer broke Apps. Did it start after an update to the app or the phone Rom?
Did you customize and/or disable the os or rom baked services/apps?
How long have you had the phone? Did you upgrade from android 11 to 12 and do a factory reset? Just some questions to see if there might be other root causes.
Everything is stock with all system updates from samsung applied. I'm pretty sure it started after an app update. The chase app insists "You are not connected to a network", but since I was just on chrome looking at web pages, that seems unlikely. It acts more like the app doesn't clean up everything correctly on exit, then if android keeps it around in memory, it has trash in uninitialized variables when starting back up again. I've gotten pretty good about swiping it away from recent apps, so even if they fix the bug someday, I'll probably keep doing it from reflex .
Have you looked at recent comments for the app on the play store? Are there similar complaints that started around a certain time? That would be a definitive indicator if it was an update issue.
I commented about it and since then 15 people have found my review helpful, so maybe that means they have the same problem.

Yeah...that is unfortunate. It looks like you may have to wait on the company and developer to fix it.
