PC software that acts as an Android phone dock? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm looking for a software which does this:
Plug your phone into the PC and the software presents the PC as a desk-type dock, so instead of just charging and giving you a popup to select connection mode (MTP, PTP etc), the phone thinks it's on a dock and the screensaver action associated with a desk dock are activated, and the phone's audio is routed to the PC.
It would be nice to have the phone charge in a stand when it's on your desk, with a Google Photos screensaver, and be able to use it as a second screen for video and messaging apps with one of Logitech's multi-device USB/Bluetooth keyboards. It would be great for a workspace to keep distractions on the phone and off the PC monitor. It would also be great to be able to keep the phone's screen awake at your desk without it staying awake while it's charging on your night stand.
I can't find this by searching the internet, because all I can find are "turn your phone into a pseudo-PC with this dock!"

[Q] Making a better MHL (HDTV) experience

I am trying to use my SS GS2 as a living room PC. It is easy enough to connect the MHL to HDMI adapter and connect the phone to a big screen TV. I am then able to use a bluetooth mouse (Microsoft 5000) and keyboard (Microsoft 6000) from my sofa to "use" the phone.
Most apps look ok. What is painful is when I have to enter text or the on screen keyboard pops up, suddenly, 70% of the TV screen is filled with the keyboard or the text box.
Is there a way to disable the pop-up keyboard? Are there apps that "understand" that I am connected to an HDTV and actually output 1920x1080 and stay at that resolution.
Also, is there a way to turn off the phone screen when connected to a TV. I find that because it is on, the phone slowly discharges (1% per 25 minutes) instead of charging. Since I am using bluetooth to control the phone from far away and I can see the UI on the TV, I don't need the screen on.
For example, I like that I can use the Dolphin HD Browser to look at my Facebook page is desktop mode (same view as my PC). It is irritating that the URL is gigantic, and every time I enter text, the UI zooms in, and after the huge text entry box goes away, the UI stays zoomed in.
Thank you in advance for any advice or guidance you can provide.

Which android device to stay in a car for radio streaming ?

Hello,
I'd like to install an Android device (tablet, smartphone, computer or whatever) into my car.
The purpose is to listen to internet radios and to be able to switch between those radios using my toyota car player which handles bluetooth/A2DP/avrcp .The app I would use is xiialive. This device would have his own sim card and should stay in the car. I don't want to plug the device each time I enter in my car, push any button or whatever. I would just like that the fact to put the key in my car would connect automatically to a webradio.
In fact I don't really need to see the screen, the device could stay hidden somewhere inside the car.
Here are the features I would like :
- auto boot when I turn on the car, which means when the device receives power from the usb port (my car has an usb port)
- plug an external antenna to get a better reception while driving. I'm thinking of a small android computer with a 3G stick plugged in. I have a 3G stick with an external antenna slot. Or any smartphone with an external antenna slot, but I haven't found one so far.
- eventually auto power down when I turn off the car, but If the device shutdowns when the battery is empty, it could be ok too
I've searched for such devices with no sucess. Any help is welcomed
thanks
if its a device that stays plugged in then if its connected to an always on port (on whether the car is or not) you should be all set. you can still place it somewhere you can easily reach on the off chance something happens and you need to manually power it on or reboot it.

Background Car Camera App

Hey Guys,
I am after a camera app with a rather specific set of requirements, at this stage I have an old Android phone installed in my car being permanently power by an Auxiliary battery (2nd car battery only for accessories), I use the phone as a GPS tracker so I can see where the car is and where its gone, the only thing it is missing is the camera.
So I wold like a Camera app that will record once it detects movement (preferably G sensor) or a bluetooth device (car stereo), as the device is always powered triggering from dock connection wont work,
I would hope it can work with the screen off so it wont draw stupid amounts of power.
Any Ideas?
Thanks!

V521 for car navigation

I just bought a V521. I primarily want to use it in my car as a navigation unit.
1. To conserve battery, I plan to set it to turn off if it detects the cable is unplugged/no power (perhaps after a delay). Is there a way to have it turn on if it detects the cable is plugged in/power to cable?
2. Any tips on how to get it to startup faster? I'd prefer not to have a long wait everytime I start my car. Perhaps I remove or disable something
I'd appreciate any general tips as well

S9+ USB disconnect issue

I am having an issue where my S9+ intermittently disconnects from USB devices. Done the obvious thing of trying multiple USB leads but this does not change anything.
Flying a DJI drone that uses an android app connected via USB to a remote control unit. Maybe one in ten flights the USB feed from the Remote Control to the S9+ gets cut, making flight control problematic.
VW car with inbuilt Android Auto occasionally loses the USB connection and stops functioning.
In both instances no amount of re-plugging the USB C lead or rebooting the phone or android app fixes the issue. However as far as I can tell, in all cases power cycling the connected device, be it the Remote control for the UAV or the the VW radio (Car off for several minutes), immediately fixes the issue.
Does any body have an idea of what would cause the S9+ behave like this. Chopping the USB out of the blue. Seemingly the S9+ no longer recognises the specific device that is in plugged in to it and the associated app UNTIL the peripheral device is power cycled. Could this be the "Optimize Battery Usage" function running amok. Have disabled it for both apps but it is too early to tell if it has fixed it .
