USB options not showing up in notification pannel, device not recog. for ADM/MTP - Samsung Galaxy M40 Questions & Answers

Hello, whenever i plug my phone to the pc, USb connection on the notification bar does not show, also i get "request for device descriptor failed" error on my pc, i tried various fixes, none worked. This includes factory reset, updating my drivers, disabled USB selective suspend, tried cleaning my registry from cc cleaner, running various sfc commands, tried linux live CD (FWUL), heck i even got my charging port module replaced. The guys at the store suggested me to change the entire motherboard which costs like 110$, i dont think its a hardware issue, i think their is something wrong with my kernel. I even tried ADB and fastboot but i don't get the RSA authetication on my device (also as mentioned the USB options don't show up), (USB debug is enabled)
During ADB Sideloading from the recovery menu i get
"Unable to sysfs usb node (no such file in directory)
Trying configs
Failed to open configfs node (permission denied)"
My device bootloader is unlocked, but its non rooted, actually i unrooted it using magsik unistaller, since then i am stuck.
Any help/suggestions to go back to stock or to fix the USB options error i am getting.

[HELP] Usb connection gone

Hello, from today every time I connect the phone to the pc i got the following error message "usb device not recognized"
I tried on several PCs, activating and deactivating the "USB debugging" mounting in recovery and also in download mode, the same error.
this error comes after a blue screen windows caused by a virus.
fortunately charging works, but what can i do? Cause i cant connect to odin too,
Recovery, download and rom are three separate operating systems, to have the same problem in all three would be very unusual. Have you tried a different usb lead, usb OTG, or MHL functions? All I can suggest is factory reset the phone.

ADB wont recognize my G3

I'm trying to root my Verizon LG G3 on 5.0.1 VS98524B, but now ADB wont recognize my device. Yesterday I was trying to root it using a one click root tool but it would fail (it would say successful, but would not achieve root). today I decided to use the LG flash tool to restore my phone and try again. then I saw that the tool (which claims to support all g3 models on all firmwares above kitkat) did not support VS98524B, but there is another that does, but surprise surprise, adb no longer finds my phone.
update... I have found that ADB on Ubuntu does find and recognize my device, and the security prompt comes up on my device. (does not come up for any window computer)
I have tried; restoring my phone again, installing and reinstalling the drivers, use different computers (2 win 7, one win 10), use different cables, on different ports, change between ptp and mtp, toggling and untoggling usb debugging, restarting my computer, etc.
adb doesn't find the phone while running a root tool, or just doing the adb devices command in cmd....
looked at many threads, and not many (if any) seem to have this problem, and all who did were able to solve using one of the steps I mentioned above....\\
any help?
update... Using Ubuntu adb does recognize my device, and prompts the security pop-up on my phone. (the pop-up does NOT come up for any windows pc)... but I cant figure out how to root the device using Ubuntu)
RESOLVED-- I uninstalled (again) the drivers, and grabbed new updated ones from the LG webpage (which ARE different than the suggested drivers on the root tool page.) then installed the android studio on my computer, and redownloaded adb... not sure which of these steps made the difference, but it worked! now rooted.
You should get a RSA fingerprint window that you have to accept on the G3 when connecting. If you're not receiving it, look in
(C:\Users\*username*\.android)
(C:\android)
(C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\.android)
Delete adbkey and adbkey.pub in those 3 locations. Tap the "Revoke USB Debugging Authorizations" button below USB debugging in developer options. Set connection to internet>ethernet. Restart the adb server in command prompt (adb start-server) and plug your phone in while looking for the RSA fingerprint window to popup on your phone.

I don't think there's been an Internet/Ethernet option since before 12B, or at least before 23C.
@Coltonbyu, choose MTP for your connection type.

I did as you said, but the prompt never appears on my phone, which is odd, as it appeared before the factory reset, but will no longer appear for any windows pc. (it does appear on Ubuntu though)

Adb unauthorized

Hi, i've tryied to install andromeda with substratum but when i enable usb debug wont show any autorization dialog and "adb devices" says "unauthorized".
I've tryied to revoke permission deatch and reattach the cable or disable and re enable debug mode, but nothing to do
Did you get some kind of message on the phone about the connection needing you to accept it? I enabled usb debuging and adb wasn't authorized. I looked at the phone and it had a message I need to click on about a trusted connection or something and once I did that adb connected and did what I needed.
I was able to install - got the ADB pop up about devices - clicked and then installed the Andromeda ap (after installing substratum) my problem is that I can't get the Sumbstratum themes to stick - not sure what I am dong wrong - probably user error...but anyway - good luck getting yours connected.
Solved with other pc
What if we are not able to use anothe PC for the process?
How can we reset the ADB log in the PC that was refused in the first place?
Thanks!

[Help] PC unable to connect to Honor 9

Hi,
After the most recent update (OTA), when I connect my phone to my PC, regardless of what mode I have the USB set for on the phone, I can no longer connect
to my phone.
It worked flawlessly before.
The Huawei HiSuite also cannot connect (although I don't norm ally use that anyway).
I have tried reinstalling ADB and also HiSuite to no avail.
One thing I do notice is that there was a HDB driver missing. When I rebooted my PC it has now changed to 'USB Composite device' but shows the error
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
{Bad Image}
%hs is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support. Error status 0x
I've tried to automatically install a driver, again no joy. (Because the device is not recognised, it just says it could not a find a suitable driver).
If I uninstall the device and then plug my phone back in we then start with the HDB device (for which there is no driver according to MS), which upon reboot becomes the 'USB Composite device' again.
So, anyone know how I can fix this? I'd like access to my phone through my PC if possible.
TIA (Thanks in Advance)
I know it's obvious, but have you tried a different usb port.

Yes. Front and back of PC as well through a hub.
It makes a sound like it connects, then I get a popup on my phone "Charge only / Transfer files / Transfer photos" and regardless of which one I select, it then disconnects.
Somewhat annoying. It worked okay before latest update.
I've even reinstalled ADB, even though I'm fairly certain this has nothing to do with it.
Thanks for your reply anyway!
[Solved]
I managed to solve this by plugging in my Honor 9. On the device manager page in Windows take a look at the 'USB Composite Device' item and selecting with an exclamation mark against it and right click it and select"Uninstall device" from the menu. When it asks to remove the driver, select yes. Unplug your phone. Reboot your PC. Upon plugging your phone back in, your device will be re-detected and Windows will install the driver correctly.

USB Connection does not work - can I still unlock and flash?

Hello there!
I own a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. It works quite well but I want to flash a custom ROM. Before I can do that I have to unlock my phone. To do this I must connect my phone to the computer. This is where the trouble begins.
A few weeks ago, I replaced the display because it was broken. I really really took care to avoid doing any harm to the phone - and I think I did a pretty good job. The new display works flawless, like if there was never an issue with it.
BUT: Today I connected the phone via USB - and my computer won't recognize it anymore. I get a message from Windows, telling me that the USB device was not recognized and I should connect the device again. My phone also doesn't show me the USB options like before (charging, data transer). To solve this problem i already tried:
- another USB port
- another USB cable
- another PC
- phone reset
- uninstall and reinstall driver in the device manager
The device manager of Windows gives me the following output at the USB device properties:
"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
An error occurred while requesting the USB device descriptor."
I don't know whats wrong, but I can live with it. The question is: can I still unlock and flash my phone without USB?
I have the same issue and my phone charges only in TWRP
me too, i have the same problem, i change the usb hub, flat,...bat still not working!
I have same problem. Did anyone found solution?
for enabling OTG, root needed
run adb shell, use any terminal app,
Code:
su
setprop persist.sys.oem.otg_support true
this only enables OTG support.
USB MTP, ADB support not working. (phone usb to computer connecting issue)
I think switching to stock rom will solve this.
