[GUIDE][NON-ROOT] 2 ways to use the Photochrome filter again! - OnePlus 8 Pro Themes, Apps, and Mods

Hey,
I experimented a bit and found 2 ways to reuse the Photochrome filter.

[ROOT]
1. Download the Magisk Module from the Attachment.
2. Install the Module using Magisk Manager.
3. Reboot.
4. Open Phone App and type *#808#
5. Go to the Camera tab and click to "fourth back camera preview".
6. Now you can screenshot objects.
Screens:
[NON-ROOT]
1. Download this Package: Download
2. Open the zip and install the "GoogleCamera.apk"
3. Copy the "GCam" folder on the internal memory.
4. Open GCam and Restore the "Urnyx 7.3 Hooolm v8 (OP8 Pro).xml" Profile.
5. Now you can click on the "C" logo and can use the Photochrome filter again.
Screen:

Does the non-root variant work without Magisk? Because you can't change the cameras if you don't use the Aux Magisk Module that patches SELinux.

Works without Module
The AUX module is only needed for some GCam features like slow motion etc.
But for the Photochrome filter the module is not needed.

Interesting. The other cams only work with the Aux module on the 7 series. Good to know

Np

Followed the steps for non-root. Anytime I try to use a camera other than the main it kills the app and I have to clear data and start over again to make it turn on.

It's about the filter there.
If you want to use everything else, you need the AUX module, but you need root.

I might be dumb, so please bear with me. I tried *#808# without the module and the same screen popped up. Is there something I'm missing that this module does that I don't see?

Deinstall all FactoryMode updates in Settings and install the Module then you can access *#808#

I meant I can already access it, sorry for the misunderstanding. I get the camera tab and can select the stuff an all, without installing the module, so wanted to know if I missed something. Sorry.

I guess I misunderstood.
So all is well

Warning!!!
I install the FactoryMode module
Don't play with the fingerprint sensor tests or you will lose it. And without your own backup of the persist.img, there is nothing you can do to recover it. Fortunately I had my backup and I was able to recover the sensor. @jamal2367, can you take a look?

Hello, I'm going to receive my OnePlus 8 Pro this week (sadly, i've seen it's the in2020 version), if I flash OOS instead of HOS, is this guide needed or will it works natively on OOS ?

Does is work on OP8?

snapchat not working on rooted phone

hey , i rooted my phone , installed snapchat and tried to log in , but it's not signing in . it gives me this message : oh no ! your login temporarily failed, so please try again later . if your login continues to fail , please visit https://support.snapchat.com/a/failed-login
i went to the link and at the end they wrote : Please note: Snapchat works best on devices running original software, and Snapchatters using a "rooted" Android device may experience issues. Rooted devices often circumvent Android security defenses and may not be compatible with Snapchat. so my question is ,: is there a way tolet snaochat think that i don't have root ? i'll try everything you give me .. thank you in advance
Tried rootcloak? It's an xposed module.

Rootcloak wont help. Snapchat blocked anyphone with xposed installed. You need to uninstall xposed get titanium backup, log into snapchat, back up snapchat with titanium backup then reinstall xposed. If snapchat logs you out, use the backup of snapchat to log back in.

it also didn't work. Snapchat checks for Xposed and SuperSU, so the best way is to unroot, uninstall xposed, install snapchat and then install xposed and supersu

root is not the problem at all, but Xposed Module is, you must uninstall the xposed framework, install snapchat, login your account, then you can install Xposed again
Does anyone know how to uninstall the Xposed framework? The way I installed it I had to flash a file, then install Xposed through an apk. The uninstall button in my Xposed is greyed out and I can't press it. Uninstalling it by dragging it to the uninstall doesn't seem to work either ????

The only way to do that is by flashing another zip file that is an uninstaller. You can find one if u search a bit

Google Pixel Launcher [TWRP] [APK's]

I prepared a zip for flashing Google's new Pixel Launcher in TWRP recovery for my convenience and decided to share it as more and more users are enjoying the success of unlocking the bootloader and flashing the TWRP recovery on their new Honor 8 device.
For those having yet to unlock the bootloader of their Honor 8, I've attached the apk's below for simple apk installation with Unknown Sources enabled in System Settings. However, I have not installed either apk via this method so the attached apk's are simply provided for users without root to try and report success or failure.
Once successfully installed, Pixel Launcher can be set as the default launcher in EMUI by performing the following steps below:
Settings > Apps > Advanced > Default App Settings > Launcher
thanks for sharing
Too bad this launcher don't let CM theme engine set icon packs.
But it's clean
maybe u should try nova launcher, it has options to change the looks to pixel style
Does the APK really work? Has anyone test it? Any downsides of installing it using APK and not flashing via TWRP? I don't have my bootloader unlocked.

You can install it like normal (apk) but you can't change wallpapers
installing like a normal app may give force closes
Force close only when trying to change wallpaper
Nope, it also force closes randomly!!!
I have not tried with twrp, but that may work fully

Twrp is working flawless, I'm using it like a month and not a single FC
Does the Twrp method work on any device or just the Honor 8?

It's working and installed for me on NOS Oreo 8.1 .but the sticker was joking me. Its vey unstable. I think you should fix calibration
It is 100 percent working in Pixel experience ROM but not stable...

here is what problem encountered with Nos android 8.1, it is all working after installation but when i restarted the phone calibrated_cad.xml automatically deleted. and i dont know why it is happening, my phone is rooted with magisk beta.
Great mod. It was working fine for a while but now, AR doesn't work anymore. All it does is put a sticker on screen which does not move when phone is rotated and it stays still.
Recordings are not working. After stabilizing the video...video is working but with no sound.

Why did you have to reflash magisk? Magisk modules are systemless means you can just uninstall a module and it is gone without leaving any trace.

I am on Oreo (September). And I can't provide the log as I have uninstalled the module due to force closing issue (google service, settings and a few more google spps were force closing constantly).

Ah yeah apologies i am on pie. I understand that I shouldn't have had to reflash magisk but even after removing the module the network connections remained borked and reflash was the only was I could restore them.
Magisk on the TA1062 is already pretty sketchy so wouldnt rule that out as being the source of the problem.

Guys for real permissions are the First thing you have ti Grant Instagram for opening it so please...
I don't get it, when you click on Settings, should normally direct to the app settings and there you enable camera access.
Normally Instagram is asking for that permission.
Or Settings -> Apps -> IG - Permissions and turn it on

Any other 3rd party application to test whether can access the camera?
I try to figure out whether it's an IG problem or a camera problem.

Great, these apps can access the camera?
Have you tried to install an old version of Instagram (or the latest alpha/beta) from apkmirror?
Otherwise you can try Instander from here.
Hope it solves your problem. Personally I'm using Instander.
Follow this and if it's still not resolved then perform a factory reset and start from scratch.
