Nothing in "Recent Apps" view - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Hi,
my dad has Redmi Note 3 since several months. Everything was working good, but since about two months he can't see anything in Recent Apps. For example, he browse something with Chrome, minimize it with Home button, go to Facebook and minimize it. He should have both Chrome and Facebook in recent apps, but there's nothing there. The problem started without doing any updates or installing new software. His phone works on Android 6.0.1 MMB29M and MIUI 10.2.1.0. Have you got any ideas how to fix it? Preferably, without wiping data...
Regards

Install android 9 or 10 and u will see everything in recents.

Does restarting device fixes this issue? If it does not then check for update if available which is less likely but give it a try.
Does this happen with any specific set of apps or with all apps?
Make sure there is enough memory available to system to run normally, mostly 500 MB is needed but if possible keep more than that.
Check background process limit in developers options, it should have been set to standard limit if not then set it and check.
If non of this works then flash any stable ROM, i would highly suggest to flash any stable ROM of 9 or 10(10 ROMs has some bugs but 9 ROMs are pretty stable). do backup everything before flashing if you choose to.

[Q] Proud owner since March! Should I cave & root?

Hello guys and thanks for reading this. I'd like to require your knowledge and collect your expériences, opinions about wether or not I should root.
1 / So here's the deal, what I wish for is a device with which :
-I could prevent selected apps from launching in the background by themselves (see attached picture - i never asked for any of those to launch - seriously the phone was on for only 5 minutes or so) in a one time configuration process. For example, I'd block Facebook but let Messenger do its thing freely.
-I could completely uninstall the following apps : Hangouts, Google+, Gmail, News & Weather, Chrome, Play books, Play Music... Basically everything Google except Maps, YouTube & The Play store..
2 / I Wonder, if it's possible to accomplish (some of) those things by rooting but without flashing another rom. What I mean is, can we change the governor, install super SU, other tweaking solutions... but at the same time keep the stock rom as it is whith all the apps installed as they are... and simply applying tweaks on top of it?
3 / Also, never have I once went back to factory settings, since day one, and I can feel that some apps take a bit longer to load. When receiving the SENSE 5 / 4.2.2 update, I could definitely sense a big boost in responsiveness in the OS but it now feels like before the update. Maybe it's due to those background processes, starting and ending by themselves? Or because the internal memory chip is beginning to die (I did use the phone like an animal in its early days by doing things like downloading torrents and unzipping files between 500mb-5gb) and still do sometimes. And I rarely uninstall apps. I have like 200 (every shortcuts included - like settings, help,... so basically 170 apps maybe?) and i need them at least every once in a while, so I'm the preventive type, not a hoarder.
Here are 2 attached pictures :
-the first one showing you those unwanted background processes.
-the second showing you the storage status
Enough with the background, what are your thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

If it's a challenge then "I'm a proud owner since January " Well , welcome aboard the sailing ship of the HOX+
Well for starters, everything you said can be acheived by root WITHOUT installing a custom ROM. That actually answers all your questions, HOWEVER, keep in mind, that the first stage of rooting , will require you to WIPE all your data during the stage of unlocking the bootloader. So , your music , apps, pics all will be wiped, and you won't be able to backup your apps the first time. So I hope it's still worth it .
For starters read this guide I wrote : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46057784 about the difference between different stages, if you can't understand the forum is full of other threads that explain the same thing.
Moving on,
The list of apps you will need is as following:
1-Super SU or SU whatever is a necessary ofcourse.
2-Xposed framework (google it, its not on the play store) Function:
Its a program that you will need to install other tweaks to your phone. Its basically a manager for those tweaks incase you want to turn one off.
Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401
3-Xposed Framework > Downloads > "BootManager"
Its a module (thats the term for those "tweaks") that allows you to setup the programs that you dont want to boot. Sadly It doesn't have a full list of apps, but its useful nonetheless.
3'-Greenify:
The reason I named it 3' was because its an alternative for BootManager. Greenify hibernates the apps , making them not run in the background, but when you open the app it wakes up, so its not similar to "disable" function since you can still open the app to work on it.
4-Titanium Backup
Now thats a program I must install everytime I switch roms, if you read the thread you will know whats it's use, but let me sum it up. You backup all your apps and progress and when you switch roms (since everything is wiped again) it restores everything back.
ALSO: It allows you to totally uninstall all the apps even stock ones, but TAKE care not to uninstall anything messy, advice: backup everything before you uninstall.
5-Xposed Framework > Downloads > "Sense5 Toolbox" :
It allows you to make tweaks for the stock rom, rearrange quick settings, add new ones, change lock screen ..etc. Really worth it.
6-Xposed Framework > Downloads > "Recent apps RAM":
When you open up the recent apps lists, there will be a bar at the top displaying the ram used and free ram. When you see that less than 100mb left, then thats when you know the phone will lag. Just clear all the apps and it should be fine
7-Xposed Framework > Downloads > "Recent Apps kill all Button":
The only thing missing in sense is the ability to kill all apps without manually swiping up on each app in the most recent list. That enables a button for that.
IMO: Rooting was the best move I have ever made, and since we have S-ON, then you can't really brick your phone. So life is good.
Anyway, I hope I helped and that you will live a long life with that HOX+
Many days later, thaaaaaaank youuuuuuu!
So I read your thread on the link you proved provided (again thanks), read and seen videos and tutorials about titanium backup, and also read about - and tried Xposed + sense5 toolbox without rooting just to get a glimpse - and it's both easy to use and ergonomic. Of course I couldn't get any benefits of it yet since still not rooted, but hey, you've pretty much served me all the steps on a golden plate.
Also, as a warming up session, I did a factory reset and neck, I backed up everything before doing so and all I lost was my games data + 1 or 2 phone numbers + my text messages. Overall not a big deal + reinstalling everything took nothing more than a couple of downloading hours.
What's left for me is to test out greenify and the other module (boot something) or any other alternative, I'll figure it out you've already done more than enough.
As for the main task, rooting and getting super user access, again I now have enough info thanks to you + the stickies + the whole one x+ section.
I am so grateful for your time. After years with windows mobile and window phone 7 (and 8 months of unrooted use of my hox+, this is new to me and now it seems nothing but easy.

Help me get my desktop launcher view back

I don't know what I did, but it seems like Remix OS changed its setting to show some kind of other launcher that is not the default desktop view. I attached screenshots and I have not downloaded any launchers. It shows me Launcher3 as the only option to set as my home launcher when I go to Settings and search the settings entries using the magnifying glass icon. You can see the attached screenshots for a bit more information. I don't really want to install it if there is an easy fix that someone knows of, but if it comes down to that as a last resort option, then I will.
Thanks!
revert to original desktop
Did you ever get this figured out. I have the same issue and cant seem to find a solution.
Thanks,
Brad
Just uninstall updates to the Remix WiFi app, and disable updates through the Play Store.
And please search the subforum before you post a thread that is a duplicate of others' threads (I have already seen about 3 threads about the exact same problem).

I've had the same issue and it appeared directly after the Remix WiFi update.
The update procedure seems to be a little bit broken. In "Apps" I saw two WiFi-Apps afterwards, the recent version and the new update. (???)
But you cannot uninstall the update in a normal way, you can only force quit.
So I installed "Root App Deleter", to uninstall the new update. But wait, "Root App Deleter" only showed the older version of the WiFi App -> I deactivated it first instead of uninstalling, didn't want to broke the whole system. After a reboot it was still the same mess. So I activated the old WiFi App again with "Root App Deleter", suddenly I saw it marked as "updated". Then I removed the patch, after another reboot everything was fine again. Ok, all Desktop Icons where gone.
Very very strange, this relation between WiFi-App and Desktopmode...
I really like Remix OS, it runs on my Beebox very nice and fluent and in comparison to Linux almost "out of the box", but the stable branch seems to be not that stable it should be.
And there is a lot of improvement needed for some more things..

You're right, this is really odd.
This doesn't sound like the other threads, since there they were able to simply remove the update without any hitches.
Just wait for the next Remix OS for PC release. Hoping they fix that issue. I bet it gonna happen on the Remix mini, player and 10. If they don't fix this issue.

Go to settings and select reset box (do not select my remix), select erase everything , this will bring back default desktop launcher and box to factory setting leaving all your apps untouched, it will erase only accounts credentials, just log in with your account to any app if needed after resetting box.
Same here has remix 32 bit booted left for a while and when I came back it was frozen so I rebooted and then it was Android style desktop instead of pc...
How can I get it back?
Also anyone know how to get player working? Can't get to to even open. only 32 bit boots on my pc.. (I have a 64 bit Windows installation)

It's fixed
I fixed it!
There will be 2 wifi apps in Settings > Apps
Go into one of them, there will be 3 dots vertically in either one of them on top right.
Uninstall the Update of the one with 3 dots, reboot your machine !
Thank you! After the update the Remix WIFI disappeared, so I was confused, but this solution worked.

EMUI 9 multitasking issue [VIDEO]

Multitasking is not working as in EMUI 8. Previous version was able to keep in memory all the applications without refreshing them each time I switched from one another.
With EMUI 9 system reloads apps activities much more frequently when I switch apps using the recent apps button.
https://youtu.be/HECxdw0e-54
Is it only a problem of mine?
It kills apps much more than before. It has something with android 9.
Yeah, mine does the same. It gets really frustrating when I'm looking at something on reddit, do a search about something I'm not quite sure what it is, and then when I want to go back to the thread, the app just reloads.

ulefone x5 recent apps not working please help

Hi everyone, I have a Ulefone X5 and overall it works well, but there seems to be a conflict over the task manager and recent apps launcher.
So in safe mode it works fine, so its not a hardware issue. I use Smart Launcher and the Android version is 10 build Amor X5_SH!_EEA_V01 if I open another launcher it kind of works, I say this as it has popped up but only once when I installed another launcher but it gets shut down thereafter.
I do have an unknown app called Easy launcher Ver 10 but it doesnt open and Ive cleared cache on it but nothing still happens, theres a icon for it but it does nothing .
No other task manager works or short cut to the recent apps will make it appear
Any help to fix this frustrating lock down on the recent tasks/apps would be much appreciated.
Many thanks for any help or fix for this.
Does anyone else have this issue android 10 killing recent apps completely as it will work in safe mode but any launcher on normal you can't load up recent apps at all.
It's a good phone and I can't believe I'm the only one with this issue. I know one plus had this issue with android 10. Just wish it didn't automatically upgrade on starting up.
Recent apps is vital and just not working in android 10.
Any help appreciated.

STF-L09 - Android 9, EMUI 9.1.0 - All widgets suddenly stuck

Hi all,
I hope someone is still around here...
In the past weeks I started to have a very annoying issue with my phone, hopefully someone can help.
I have a Honor9, with Android 9, EMUI 9.1.0, all stock, no root, no custom image, nothing.
Since a couple of weeks, all widgets are stuck. They work for a few hours after rebooting the phone, but after that, they stop updating and some of them is not responding at all.
Transparent clock updates time and day, but weather is not updated. Calendar is not responding and not updated. Even the settings widget is not updating the icons any more. All other widgets are stuck at the last update or on a "updating". I have tried to stop the applications but they don't restart.
I can't recall any particular update before the issue started, unless the automatic update of applications update from google store. I have tried also to reinstall a couple of widgets but they don't work -what is interesting is that they don't work straight away even after reinstalling, meaning that something in the system is triggered and keeps them blocked. Also, adding new widgets once the issue is present doesn't work, they don't show up on the screen, but they appear all together next time the phone reboots, supporting the idea that something in the system is keeping all widgets locked.
It doesn't look like the usual battery saving settings, all widgets were fine and I can't see anything different in the power saving settings.
Before I wipe out the phone and restart from scratch, does anyone has any idea of what I could try?
Thanks!
