No Wifi Conncetion to PC Via SMB - Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e Guides, News, & Discussion

HI
I have a new Galaxy S5e tablet.
I have successfully made a connection via wifi to my PC using the microsoft shared app using my pc fixed ip address 192.168.1.100.
I have two other apps that both give the following error message when attempting to access my pc shared folders:
‘Connection failed with ‘Failed to connect: 0.0.0.0<00>/192.168.1.100’.Trying again.’
I have followed the instructions at:
(remove the quotes change "com)
regarding my pc access, but I still get the error.
Does anyone know how what I need to do to connect to my pc shared folders via SMB?
Regards and thanks

I think that smb is off by default in win 10. Ensure it is on. You can check it via windows features in Progtams. Google smb windows 10 hot switch on and you will find plenty guides.
Both devices needs to be connected to the same wifi network.

SMB is definitely on.
Both devices are on the same wifi.
My pc does not have wifi but uses the router to connect.
I don't believe this is a problem with my wifi or pc or else Windows remote on my tablet wouldn't connect and work with my pc.
As it would appear no one has a clue where this code error comes from nor how to rectify it I have to assume Oreo is not fit for purpose.

[Q] Accessing home network

Hi guys,
I would like to access some shared files with my SGS2 in my home network through wifi. So i first looked up for some information. I installed the ES File Explorer and configured a folder on my harddisk to be shared.
Once i opened ES File Explorer, i thried to add a new server. So i filled in my ip-address and my username and password from the computer. But ESFE wasn't able to connect to it.
So i went looking on the internet for some information, and what i learned from it was that it worked through a smb connection, but i don't have any clue how to let it work.
Could anyone explain me how to set up such an smb connection and what are the different steps so that i can access the shared files on my computer with my SGS2.
Thx for the help.
Hi, depends on what operating system you use on the computer.
If your running windows make sure you have file and print sharing enabled in networking, and a shared folder. Appart from that smb is running.
Make sure when you connect your connecting to the shared folder as some file managers wont connect to just the pc.
If your runnin mac os or linux itl take some config so youl have to look that up.
Hope that helps!

I'm running on Windows 7 Enterprise edition 64 bit. File and print sharing is enabled.
I turned Windows Firewall off and instead i'm using the AVG firewall. Do I have to configure something in the firewall options?
I installed Astro File Manager and the SMB file module.
I had no problem accessing the windows shares on my local network - just entered IP address, share name, user name and password and it connected straight away.
Ok i found the (provisional) solution for my problem.
It worked to connect when i turned of the AVG firewall, so probably i have to configure something into AVG.
Yeah firewalls tend to like blocking smb. Somewhere you should be able to allow either port 445 or smb or file sharing in AVG not used it so i dont know where but it will be there! Glad you found a solution.

[Q] Error Connecting Tab(Open Kang 31 ROM) to PC(Ubuntu)

Hi,
i tried to connect the Tab(Open Kang 31 Rom) to a pc with Ubuntu 12.04 and i had a strange issue( i read all the posts so i selected in Setting/Storage MTP ). The pc is not able to open the Tablet Storage and this is the error msg:
"Sorry, could not display all the contents of "GT-P7510": DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken."
I tried to connect the tablet to a Windows plattaform and everything works fine.
Any ideas?
Thank you
Two issue :
the first which can be hard
1) look here : h**t://kobablog.wordpress.com/2011/05/25/connecting-samsung-galaxy-tab-10-1-via-adb-on-ubuntu/
the second which is easy :
You can simply acces to your tab wireless with app like WIFI File Transfer
Just like Brahim93 suggested, you can use adb, it will give you more than access to the internal storage, it will be helpful for debugging, testing and other related things.
But if you only want to access the files like in Windows, mount your tab with something like mtpfs.
Other option (if you have the proper network configuration) is using a FTP server in your tablet, like SwiFTP FTP Server.
Thank you both of you...i will try what you suggested.

[Q] wifi file transfer from windows xp to android

Yes, I did search. I didn't find what I was looking for.
I have a Samsung Galaxy 5 player running gingerbread. I'm trying to access files on it from my WinXP box via wifi. This seems like it should be a very common thing to do, but I simply can't find it. If I plug it into a usb port, I can access the drives. Can this be done via wifi?
Again, I want to access the android from the PC. Not the other way around.
Thanks for any help.
Three possible solutions pop into my mind (I guess there are many more):
1) Use a ftp server on the phone and access the files using that.
2) Use AirDroid or a similar app. It will give you wireless access to your phone's file.
3) This includes something that you said you didn't necessarily want to do but should also work: Use an app such as ES File Explorer and connect to your Windows XP PC via network. You can share a folder over the network (with write access) and then you can copy files from your android to your pc. But I guess that is the least ideal solution of the above.
I hope that the apps mentioned above are available for your device and that a method works.
Thanks, Fabur. I'm sure one of them will work.
The reason that "android -> pc" isn't an option is that much of the time, I'm using it as a wifi camera to monitor what my dogs are doing elsewhere in the house. But it would be nice to be able to access the files on the player from my pc.

[Q] ES File Explorer and Windows 7

Here is my setup:
Nexus 7 2013 and Samsung Galaxy S4, both running ES File Explorer 3.0.5.3
Windows 7 x64 Pro (Hosting the files)
ASUS RT-AC66U
The system works just fine after a fresh reboot of my PC. After a few hours, I get the "Login Fails" error (plain text or SMB). The only way to fix it is to reboot my PC. I believe its a Windows 7 setting that causing this. I searched all over the net for a fix and none of them worked. I tried:
Enabling Guest Account
Changed Advanced Sharing Settings
Set "Everyone" as read in the File Share Window
Enabled Inbound/Outbound rules in the Advanced Windows Firewall
Enabled sending unencrypted passwords to SMB via Local Security Policy
I can go into more detail of the fixes I tried if needed. What is an alternative to sharing files from a Windows 7 machine to Android devices? I feel like Ill never get ES File Explorer to work. Thanks.
Try the AntTek Explorer. I have 3 machines running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and a server running Windows Server 2008 x64, a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition, a Samsung Galaxy S4, a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, a Google Nexus 7, and a Samsung Galaxy S3. I'm using the Asus RT-AC66U as my main router and have a Linksys EA4500 and a Drink 5ghz single band both running in bridge mode and a Western Digital Wireless AC Repeater. All my mobile devices I've been able to setup the Asus under the network settings using AntTek as a my file browser. Also install AiCloud, which not only let's you access and stream music/videos when you're on the network, but you can stream from the USB drive remotely and connect to any computer on your network to share files or stream data.

I have this same exact issue with one of my computers, but the other computer always works fine.
Not sure what Windows setting is causing this issue.
This issue only applies to android devices where it will start giving login failed after a few hours, but other windows PC can still access those folders.

any update to this problem ? I have the same issue and it's driving me nuts.
When I reboot, I can connect fine .. but then a few hours later or so .. it won't And only on android (and ios I see now) .. other win7 or win 8 devices connect fine.

access apple files from android

I'm trying to access a share on a Mac from Android. The share is on a FAT32 external drive, and I can browse/access it from another Mac and from a PC. But when I try to connect from Android, I get an error on the username/password (same user/pass as I'm using from other Mac and from PC). This happens with both ES File Explorer and AndSMB. I've tried both checking and unchecking the "Windows File Sharing" checkbox on the Mac, using anonymous, and two different userids (one a login user, the other a "sharing-only" user). The Android tablet (Galaxy Note 12.2 running CyanogenMod 12.1/Android 5.1.1) can access Windows shares but I need to get to some stuff on the Mac. My phone (stock GS6) is the same--can access Windows and my router's USB share but not the Mac.
I'd like to use SMB instead of something like file transfer because I want to stream video from my Mac to my kids' android tablets on a long airplane flight.
Searching didn't turn up anything useful so I'd appreciate pointers to threads where this has been discussed.
TIA.
Bill
