No

that's so stupid. it the only thing that's really keeping me from choosing this over the ZTE nubia Red Magic 5G.
anyone know if they both have the google play store?
i hesitate on the red magic because of the loud fan and i hear it gets really hot on the left side after extended gaming. i think if it had a pro version with a 7+" screen it would be easier.

one more thing:
from what i can find the pro supports the following for 5G:
n41, n78, n79, SA, NSA
and the non-pro supports these:
n78, NSA
first, are they really different?
and second based on this wiki page does that mean it does not support verizon 5G?

No Verizon 5g on bs3,bs3pro, and rm5g. Also, the NFC is broken on the rm5g. Google pay doesn't work.

well there goes all my plans

New US version

Is the US version of the Z5 compact separate hardware? Or is it the e5823 with custom software for the US that has full Tmo support?
I read that they dropped the fingerprint sensor for the US versions of the z5 and z5c.

I cannot understand why they would do this.

This is why I'm asking if the hardware is different or just software. So we know if we can keep the e5823 and just get software.

What do you mean by "full Tmo support?" Do you mean VoLTE and WiFi calling? Unless it's a T-Mobile branded phone it will probably not support those things. I've had several unlocked Android phones on T-Mo and they did not have those features (including my Z3 Compact and Z5 Compact). The only one that comes close is the iPhone which does have WiFi calling on T-Mobile when using the unlocked version (because, I assume, they have no branding anyway).
We must have made our threads very close. I was asking the same thing. On one hand, the US version doesn't have the fingerprint scanner but may have better radios for the US carriers.. On the other hand if the international version has the same radios, it's also cheaper. Not sure what to do as I don't seem to have a clear answer.

This is not accurate. Nexus 5x, 6p, HTC One A9 all have proper T-Mo support including Band 12, VoLTE, HD Voice and WiFi Calling and are unlocked/unbranded. Pretty sure Moto X does too.

OK. I had a Nexus 5X and I don't remember support for WiFi calling, but I only had it for two days. My Sony devices don't support it.
I guess the correct answer is it depends on the device.

According to Amazon site for Z5 Compact "Fingerprint sensor is not supported." (see last line of specs under "From the Manufacturer.") Read: It's there, but without software support.
This leads me to believe that hardware is identical to E5803 or E5823 and only fingerprint sensor software/drivers are not included in US customization.
That makes more sense than Sony building a completely different model for the US market that they would have to support with different parts, etc.
Also means that someone with a US variant should try flashing a non-US customization and see if the sensor 'awakens.'

Yes, that probably would work. You can get it more easily buying one from Clove UK with the sensor software already functional.
Granted you'd have to return it to Clove for warranty support but I wonder how a US distributor would handle warranty support on a phone with a different customization. I suppose you could put the US version back on it for support.
Looks like the bands are better for US carriers including the infamous band 12 for Tmobile. Think I'll go this route since I'm on Tmobile

Hmm. This is what I'm trying to figure out for sure. Obviously if I can get away with a UK model and still have the same bands.. It will save me money. Just read that b12 was NOT on the UK and Asian models. Do you have a source?

when i was in florida/miami i got a t-mobile card, it worked fine, but it almost always showed that i had a very bad signal.
i have a nordic yellow z5c.
also, wtf is up with the prices 60$ for unlimited calling in the states and 3gb surf.

I'm using an Asian model and get a band 12 signal on T-Mobile according to LTE Discovery
I ordered mine from amazon, and am using on T-Mobile, it does have fingerprint sensor. Pretty sure there is one model that supports pretty much every band there is. US model is the same except the fingerprint sensor as I read in the news, not sure how I can tell mine is US model as it is not indicated anywhere.
Ever since I got out of my contract and started using prepaid I never bought a single phone from a carrier. ****ty logos, apps and sometimes software, and apparently now different hardware? No thanks..

Note 4 Pro with Wind/Freedom

Hi,
Noob question here but I couldn't find any answers anywhere. I know note 3 pro works with wind/freedom (AWS 1700/2100) but the band is not listed so I'm wondering if the note 4 pro is the same as well?

Have you checked this site, pretty useful for checking compatibility? Are these the 4G/LTE bands (Band 4?) you are checking? If so they seem to be the same ones that AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile use (im from the UK so not 100% sure)?

Yeah I checked this site. It's kinda hit or miss with certain phones esp the ones like xiaomi since they have diff versions of the phone.

With the Redmi Note 4 there is really only the one version, albeit a few different RAM/storage options i.e. 2/16, 3/32, 3/64, apart from this difference they will all feature the same hardware.

I'm not sure if you've tried this but there is an engineer mode if you enter the below code into the dialler/phone app. If you check the BandMode option, you see an option for WCDMA-AWS-1700. It is selectable unlike the others shown that are greyed out. I'm not recommending changing anything as I don't know if these changes can be reversed, maybe a full flash via the SP flash tool. If you decide to try anything make sure to backup any data just in case.

T-Mobile VoLTE for Mate 20 Pro??

Can ANYONE who has the Mate 20 Pro and has T-Mobile (U.S.) as well confirm whether or not VoLTE is an option?? Please, if you do have it, let me know. Also, please: 1) Provide a screenshot of a phone call in progress (using stock calling app) 2) Provide the model # (L09 ((Single SIM) or L29 ((Dual SIM))). 3) Mention if Wi-Fi Calling is listed as well or not. 4) A screenshot of the settings page with VoLTE listed would be helpful as well, but it's NOT as important as #1.
Thank you all in advance!!

WTF? You have proof of this?? lol
It doesn't have anything to do with T-Mobile certifying one phone for Volte and not the other--both support the necessary bands. There's just a line of code different in the OS.
With the Xiaomi Mix 2 & Mix 2S the former supported Volte on T-Mobile and the latter didn't despite having the same modem and band support. But in MIUI a dial code turns off the coding for carrier check and voila--the 2S supports Volte on T-Mobile just like the Mix 2.
Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be anything like that on Huawei phones but a software update could easily add Volte compatibility.

The thing with T-Mobile is, your phone can have Band 12 on it, but T-Mobile doesn't allow you to use for calls (only data) unless the phone has certified VoLTE on it. At least THIS is what I was told. But you may be right b/c the newest Sony phone (Xperia XZ3) as far as I know doesn't have T-Mo VoLTE certification, yet when I got it (and later returned it cuz the camera was surprisingly under par), I was able to have VoLTE on a call b/c, just not in 4G LTE. But the call showed "HD+" which means VoLTE was there, even w/o VoLTE in the Settings menu. And the newest T-Mobile 2018 phones (meaning the ones sold by T-Mo directly) don't have it listed either...........so I dunno anymore! lol I guess now it's not about having 4G LTE during a call, it's about if you see HD+ or HD something while making a call on the stock phone app.
Wow! That's pretty cool. Yeah I hope Huawei does that. I just got the OnePlus 6T from T-Mo and traded in my LG V30, so it's too late now anyway. I'd still like to see proof of the 20X having it though, cuz next spring I am considering upgrading again (since I got 6T for only $280 with trade-in) to the P30 Pro maybe. But if no VoLTE, again I will pass on it.
Anyone here get Volte on T-Mobile with Mate 20 Pro?
I was not able to find a way to get volte working on my l29, but I did install tmo digits. After the install, I called someone and was able to stay on 4g lte and was able to use wifi calling(using my number) . I think its a great work around.

You have 5G in the Philippines? Assuming you do, then there are 2 protocols used with 5G, pretty sure the US version phone isn't compatible with international, but could be wrong on that.
but if you're carrier doesn't have it, it will never work

Follow this link for the S21 specs on gsmarena.
The important part to look at is the Neworking 5G bands. You'll see that the US phone u have uses mmwave technology for 5G. And that the international version, the SM-G991B uses Sub6. They are not interchangeable.
Sorry, after looking at this closer, the US version does actually do both MMWave and Sub6, but still won't help you as it doesn't have band 78. And, unfortunately, you can't flash a rom for one of the other devices to yours, as they have different chipsets; exynos vs Qualcomm.

Seems about right. The USA, unlike many countries, uses some **** exotic type bands that the international models simply don't require. Therefore, carriers like T-Mobile and whatnot simply won't allow it to run (and in some cases flat out block it, even if enabled).
USA being funny as always (and carriers screwing people over)

Correct. The root and enable part only kicks in when they blacklist your device from their bands when you have access to them, or when they block stuff like VolLTE and whatnot
