Motion Smoothness??? - Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite Questions & Answers

Found this setting under the hood, don't think it does anything on this phone but was wondering if anyone knows anything about it.

It won't change anything as 120hz is hardware based.

yup that's what I figured. didn't know for sure though as this phone shares a lot of features from the flagship lines (45w fast charging and hdr10+, for instance) . didn't know if the soc/screen supported it even though it wasn't available to change in the settings interface.

It's the digitizer frequency, not the screen refresh rate
I would advice you to turn that on as it improves the response time and overral smothness

And where is this setting?
Thanks

it's accessable as an activity, it's still present but a couple updates ago it's been deactivated on this phone. the on/off slider is grayed out.

Browser brightness?! Useless and utterly annoying

Hello guys,
is there a way to let the browser stick to the global brightness setting?
Due to that rubbish 'feature' I always end up changing the brightness twice, as if once isn't already enough.
- wake phone
- think auto brightness is too bright -> turn it down
- start browser -> still on auto -> still too bright - aaarghhh!
later again:
- went outside
- wake phone
- put to auto again - looks fine
- start browser
- black screen FFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
Please tell me there's a work around! This is so annoying and so useless!
There is an option in the display settings about "Auto adjust screen power" and I thought I heard that this adjusted the brightness when there is a lot of white on the screen (like a browser) to save power.
Try this?
Good idea. Unfortunately that's not it. But thanks for the hint, i've seen that dynamic brightness thingy in action and wondered whether i could turn it off.
No, it seams to be a less obvious solution. I'm thinking of the trick to change the user agent. Something like this, but there does not seam to be a about:settings or similiar. Any ideas?

You can change the useragend using about:useragent, but doesn't have anything to do with brightness settings.

Yeah this guy's right, the user agent doesn't have anything to do with brightness or the backlight at all. All it does it trick your phone into thinking it's a desktop PC so it doesn't show the mobile version of websites....as for the auto-brightness, have you got XWKE2 installed? Samsung have much improved the auto-brightness from XWKE1 and XWKDD.
You guys got me all wrong. I meant just like Samsung hid the option to choose the user agent, there must be a place to disable this annoying 'feature' as well. I know what the user agent does, don't expect me to be a total retard because of my 1 digit post count

There's no need to be pedantic about it, it makes your phone display full sites not mobile ones, is that acceptable for your exacting standards?

You said something that was wrong, and I corrected you. Why are you being so defensive?
Anyway, I'll make a note that you can't stand being corrected. Happy?

Edge lighting not working when screen is off

Does any one have the same issue? I have set it to always be on but it only works when the screen is on. Please advise.
It was that way with the S8+ also. I thought it was supposed to work when the screen is off but I could never get it to work. Kind of a bummer since I think it would be a cool feature.

I tried contacting the customer support and all they told me was to reset the settings because something might have interfered with it

Super helpful as always. I thought maybe the always on display had to be on, but it doesn't seem to matter. The only way it works is with the screen on that I've found.
No problems with edge lighting here. Been working every time.

But it's not working if the screen is off or in standby that is what he says. I had a s8 and i never get it work
It didn't work for me on the s8 bjr MSG and WhatsApp are working fine now. Nothing else
I had mine working and it got turned off. It was only working with screen on. Went back into settings, and apparently the settings got reset to default when I switched samsung themes. Changing the settings back fixed my issue. I can confirm, that at least on mine, edge lighting does work with screen off.
Edit: Apparently it's no longer working again after just trying it.
you guys have to turn it on for all apps, normally it is on just for 3 of them
Same here.

Tried that too. Still doesn't work.
Maybe is not working when you are using one of the live infinity display themes...? Have you tried with normal backgrounds (and consequently with normal AOD - not live one).
Maybe is just working when the device is screen down?.
Just a thought.
I've had no issues with it working with the screen off. I have AOD on and the original theme still. I only have it set to come on when I get a text thru Textra app
It turns out you have to make sure that pop up notifications is on when the screen is off for all the apps you want the edge lighting to work.:fingers-crossed:
Yet another stupid software design from Samsung, all most of us want is that the edge lighting can replace the notification led, right? But no somehow they over complicate this ****.

It varies between apps. For whatsapp its in the more options menu->settings->notifications->pop up notification set it to either always show up or show up when screen off

But the annoying what's app box pops up too when you go look at your phone.
The one app that works when the screen is off is messages for me.

shortcut for wireless reverse charging?

Is there a shortcut way to enable wireless reverse charging?
I was surprised to find out that this feature is not toggleable from the quick settings menu..
is there any workaround? or something else?
You can long press the ultra powersaving icon in the pulldown menu.
True, better than nothing, thanks!
If anyone finds a shorter way feel free to share
Why can't you leave it on all the time?
Haven't received mine yet so i can't test.
I thought so too before I got it..
It disables it self few minutes after no activity

I've heard it's because it will slowly drain the phone. Wireless charging works a bit differently than the og way.

Notch/status bar settings?

Wish this phone have the notch/status bar settings like in the G7 etc. Did I miss something?
Which settings? The V60 has settings under New Second Screen, which of course is confusing with the dual screen.

Oh my word I totally missed that smh haha. Had the phone in Night mode so it was grayed out and I never bothered paying it any mind.
Night mode is best mode anyway!
I installed Natcho Notch to hide mine most of the time. It doesn't work with my games, though. You know, if they would've went with a basic screen without a fake cutout with the dual case, I'd probably use it a lot more. I know they did it to be symmetrical with the main screen, but I would appreciate seeing everything.

Good look, I'll have to check that out for myself. I think maybe LG was lazy and or cutting cost. Either way it makes no sense and takes away from the dual screen a bit to have the notch there. But aside from that I'm really digging the dual screen, ESPECIALLY after installing the Wide Mode app from the Play Store. Wide Mode everything haha
Anyone know how to hide the notch on the second display? I remember during the initial setup of the phone there was an option to keep the notch on the second display but now I can't find it in the settings.

You can not hide the notch on the dual screen, only on the main display. Go to display>new second screen. Have to have night mode off though.

I just use a black wall paper with immersive mode from system ui tuner and I don't ever notice the notch on either side.

Question Refresh rate..

So I've had the phone for about 24 hrs now. Since early this morning I've had "show refresh rate" enabled in developer settings. It has, no matter what I'm doing or what content I'm watching, moved off of 60. I clicked "force highest rate" and nothing. Does anyone else find that strange?
Sticks at 60, even when you scroll fast on a webpage?

That is not just strange but is annoying I guess. Just looked at mine and it shows 90 when I scroll or touch the screen and goes to 60 when I am not doing anything.
Hope you get that resolved. cheers

I had this problem briefly. It returned to normal after a restart. I leave it on force max refresh rate currently.

Man you gotta love the internet and places like XDA. Thank you, a restart solved the problem. Odd though because I've restarted the phone a couple of times to deal with my nav buttons becoming unresponsive. I'll have to keep an eye on it. Like I said, thanks.

I have the same issue, restarting didn't fix it.
What's weird is, when I select "Show refresh rate" in the developer options, it shows 90Hz while the phone is laying on the table not showing anything (AOD on or off, doesn't make a difference). But as soon as I pick up the phone it goes back to 60. WTH google?!

Just toggle the "force max refresh rate". Doesn't seem to make any real difference to my battery life.
Tried that, doesn't do anything.
Hi!
Habent seen your thread... I opened another one...
NO 90Hz... 60 Hz constantly... 90 Hz only on the Lockscreen
Hi there, I have a question... obviously. I've activated 90 Hz and dont see any difference to 60. Then I activated the Developer Options and started the option to see the refresh rate. I also forced the display to do so - however.. No change -...
