compass issues with my Huawei P Smart+ 2019 - Huawei P Smart+ 2019 Questions & Answers

hi,
the compass on my phone seems to have issues.
i have calibrated many times, in general, the compass seems to work fine. but it oscillates fast within about 3°
apps like peakfinder or peaklens are almost useless when the camera is enabled. the peak names are jumping left and right like mad.
is this a known issue on that phone type or is it just mine?
thanks for answering.

[Q] Any solution to my accelerometer malfunction?

Hi there!
First time I need to make a topic, as I don't find the answer anywhere..
Had my Touchpad since about two weeks.
However the accelerometer has not functioned at all since I got it.
First thing to check is the auto rotation lock -> it's turned off
Second thing I did was download a sensor visualizer app -> Seismograph.. This shows very weird results for the x-axis (see attached file), fyi, the Y and Z-axis functioned as expected..
Then the third thing I tried, Need For Speed Hot Persuit... A game that uses the X-axis accelerometer (right!?)
This works brilliant!
Other things I have done to troubleshoot this:
Restart the device.
Full reset the device.
Run HP doctor.
All have failed in resolving my problem.
As I've bought the touchpad from a french webstore (fnac.com), HP Netherlands (where I'm from) tells me I need to get back to them for a solution, as they don't offer worldwide repair (unlike ASUS for example).
Fnac.com has not answered to my request to exchange the product (2 days after I got it). And actually I just want to solve it myself if possible, bought it for fun anyways (and reading of course xD)
Any ideas how I can make the OS recognize the accelerometer?
Last thing, the auto rotation functions in the following way: Tablet is stuck in landscape, I turn to portrait, screen turns as well, but within the second the tablet is back in landscape. This behavior can be read from the seismograph screenshot.
Thanks!
Hello
I just started a new thread for a different accelerometer problem (it is just dead)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1284760
Was wondering how you ended up fixing your problem.
thanks
Just wanted to ask you the same question...
I still have the same problem. Need to contact Fnac.fr, but my french sucks and my time is scarce. So have been postponing this. My unit actually came DOA.. however Fnac didn't respond to my request, and has now asked me to call them.. sucky service
You have no solution I guess?
Well this is odd..
Out of nothing the auto rotate function is working since today.. I noticed it while reading a PDF in Android. Booting back to WebOS didn't make a difference, the sensor is working again
I've got no clue what did the trick.. I have not updated the kernel or something like that lately.
I wonder if the sensor was kicked back into action by brute force (for instance my cat jumping on the tablet..)
Anyway, problem soved for now =D

Razr d1 xt918 gps hardware missing or android build broken?

Hi there gents.
I just bought a new razr d1 xt918.
And im having issues with the navigation apps while driving a car, such as google maps navigation, and waze app.
I've already did that tutorial using the phone tester to unlock the X axis for the compass. But mine 3 axis were moving okay already.
The issue that im having is that when im using such apps to navigate with the car moving around the gps system seems to take too long to lock or respond, or finnaly "load", so i've already moved from a position and the gps app screen is still far behind where i was before.
In a way that the navigation apps with routes and maps can only be used as a google maps for consulting a frame of a map. But you cannot use it for real time driving. im not having a real time movement in any car navigation app, because the gps does not respond soon enough.
With the phone tester app, i can go @Sensor status and there i see three boxes showing: Accelerometer / Proximity Sensor / Light Sensor.
All three boxes seems to be responding okay.
But when I hit the ! (exclamation point) on the top right of the screen i get this message:
Your phone doesn't have :
Compass
Magnetic field sensor
Temperature sensor
Gyroscope
Pressure Sensor
Humidity Sensor
Okay. i think i don't need things like humidity sensor.
But the other sensors like magnetic field, gyroscope, compass and the rest. Isn't those sensors needed to have a good enough hardware to perform a real time gps navigation inside an app ?
Are these RAZR's phone model missing some hardwares devices in the gps system?
Or is it the Jelly Bean 4.1.2 bugged in a way that cannot have these sensors working correclty.
Searching for answers i've already find a lot of complains about the gps issue, or compass issue wich in my case the axis were working fine.
But there are a lot of complains about it. Even because in the Gingerbread builds, older one, the navigations app could work pretty good.
Why the new phones cannot ?
And another this is that there are a lot of people complaing and sharing tutorials. but no official axplanation about it. not at all. Or from google, or motorola, or verizon, or nothing.
I saw that another guy have recieved a messahe from the support telling that his phone does not have the compass devices and point. stop trying to use it. haha.
I think that the support guys were oriented to tell the customer that he does not have a compass and force him to give up the problem.
Please. How i do to have a real time navigation with this phone ?

Fingerprint sensor problem

My MediaPad M5 (SHT-W09) has worked up well until yesterday. Now the fingerprint sensor is not working. I have rebooted, turned off & restarted it. I think the sensor MAy have worked again for a very short way but it is definitely does not work now.
The sensor does not work at logon, does not work for my banking apps and is not seen by other apps. Some apps say that there is no fingerprint sensor.
Has an app or something captured the sensor? If so how do I determine what is "hogging" the sensor?
Or is the sensor no longer working? Is so, is there any way to fix it?
Chris
Has anyone had the fingerprint sensor fail?
Chris
I also have the exact same problem.
It began a couple of months ago. The fingerprint sensor would show up for a couple of minutes after a reboot, but now it has disappeared permanently. Even the settings app won't show it after a restart.
Have you found a solution or some insights that could help us debug this?
I tried clearing the cache and sometimes it works for a while then the problem would reoccur. I did a reset to factory and this fixed the problem for a while.
I did cut back the number of apps.
Now it works perfectly and I don't know what caused the issue! It may have been a stray app.
Sorry about not giving a definite answer.
Chris
I have the mediapad m5 lite and I am having the same problem. It was complaining that the fingerprint hardware wasn't working and I restarted and now it is unaware it exists, even in settings. What was the cache you cleared? Did you have any luck further discovering what the cause is?
The fingerprint sensor works well now.
As I said previously, it must have been an app but I have no idea what
Sorry
Stay safe

Sensor Issue

Hi, I got my Mi 3 this week. I noticed some weird behavior from my magnetometer and Accelerometer, wondering if anybody else is experiencing the same. After a day of use, sensors go haywire and suddenly stop reporting data. Can't use compass and my auto rotate stops working. I tried different apps to see if it's a global problem or just a not compatible app, so far when sensors go blank, the effect is global. Even the Mi self test is not reading anything from the sensors. Pedometer is on the other hand operational tho.
Things come back to normal after a restart. I suspect it must be a software bug maybe?

My sensors are working but they are wrongly calibrated :/ and pedometer isn't working! I thought the pedometer was disactivated by default...

Dial *#*#6484#*#* it's the built-in test. U can recalibrate your accelerometer there and also test the device. Use power button to exit. And for +-45 test's of the accelerometer tilt your device on it's corners.

Thanks for the tip it works perfectly!
By the way, you are using European firmware or Global, because for me the pedometer isn't counting the steps :/

I'm glad to hear it worked for you. My pedometer comes and goes... Not reliable unfortunately. btw how can I check my ROM region? Got the October patch, It doesn't solve the bug...
I also have problems with my vibrator. It doesn't react to short vibrations (that much I can make out of it).

Well I seem to have the global version. MIXM
I hope they get problems solved fast.
If anybody else with the device is reading this post, can you please check your sensors with an appropriate app and see if yours is also malfunctioning randomly?
I had this problem, but I just restarted the device and everything came back normal

Yes! It goes away with restarting (and sometimes doesn't!!!)
But it's just a temporary fix, in matter of hours, you r back to the square one.

Go to Accessibility settings and turn on Touch Vibration. Keeping it off also hinders the in call volume function. Hope it helps

Well yeah, it did work actually. But the thing is, I don't like to have the touch vibrations on always, I just want it to work with G-board and some other apps that use short vibrations as a feedback...
It's like the touch vibrations setting, controls everything lol.
It's definitely a bug they have to get fixed.
So it turns out the sensor problem that I reported is being caused by the G-cam port I had installed. The solution is to close the app (in the multitasking menu !?) Whenever you are done using it.
Flash the stock rom again and your problem will be solved for sure, also faced the same issue.
I have same issue and flash stock rom but still not working how can i fix it ?
I also have a problem with compass apps. north and south are correct shown, west and east are not correct.

Did you try wiping data and cache for camera app?

Bluetooth and default battery optimization

Mike, this is likely in the wrong place so please move and let me know. TNX!
Bluetooth probs (particularly on Pie?)
Have experienced lots of BT probs over the years, particularly on Pie
BTearbuds - no matter which one I try I seem to lose one side of the conversation after a bit.
fitbit and fake fitbit activity bracelets - seem to initially work , then can't sync.
Just discovered a setting (I think from a fitbit help note)
settings/apps and notifications/advanced/special app access/battery optimization
- tap top bar and choose ALL
I noticed that bluetooth is, by default, set for optimize. So, I reason, If I am on the phone and my phone goes to sleep, I lose part or all of BT.
WHY?
What am I missing here.
I feel the need to go in there and enable for, at the least, "bluetooth" and certainly fitbit" (or any fake-fitbit app.)
Will this cure my problems? (I will find out...)
What am I missing here.
Been playing with phones since forever.
Thought this was a Pie prob so went back to my G3 with Alberto's 8.1 and experienced the same thing.
Happen to be back on one of my Moto X4'x trying, yet again, to see if I can get a phone to work...
(this one is stock, just took -11 (Moto X4 One fi) )
