I found another way to free more ram. Just flash the Low-Ram Property pather zip made by AdrianDC and paste the following tweak in your build.prop file: ro.config.low_ram=true. This tweak will enable android go optimization on your phone. Do not use this tweak on miui it will bootloop. Only on gsi.

Get resurrection remix, if you want best performance among nougat roms. But I will suggest you to get oreo 8.1, since it gives better performance than overall nougat. Currently (05/01/18) resurrection remix is not available in oreo flavour but aoscp and aex 5.1 are actually worth giving a shot.
Here is a list of benchmarks, i made https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-4/how-to/benchmark-result-custom-roms-t3725767
And regarding kernel, only focusing on ram management, at least I haven't seen any difference between custom rom kernel, or any other custom kernel.
However you can use electra blue and stormguard.

Linux memory management is good enough. All kernels will be equally good. The real problems are your limited RAM and bloated MIUI.

The mido file not getting installed

Hello, I tried to install the given linked custom roms for my device Redmi Note 4 but the things that really ****s me out is it never gets installed. I already have twrp recovery installed also. I have installed many more things from same twrp. But for this rom that i'm a big fan i cannot install, it says this file is for : mido: the device is.
I really want to install this rom so please help me.
Probably you have Nikel, not Mido.
Redmi Note 4 with MTK SoC (10 cores) is called Nikel.. and with Snapdragon it's called Mido (8 cores).
The ROM you've downloaded is for Mido - but probably you've Nikel?
Nikel or Snapdragon
but when i bought it.....in the product its written it has SNAPDRAGON...... but still the zio file cannot install......i'm soo much stressed how to install it..... i really want to get this rom...??
Okay.. you still did not share any details yet.. at least can you tell me which ROM are you talking about exactly (link?) and how much cores do the phone have (I suppose you are using MIUI at the moment, so settings app > about > CPU section: octa or deca core?).
Details
this is the link of the file that i downloaded is
https://sourceforge.net/projects/resurrectionremix-oreo/files/latest/download
not only this latest version i have downloaded all of those others below.
My phone has following details-
Android Version- 7.0
MIUI Version- MIUI Global 9.5 | Stable
9.5.4.0(NCFMIFA)
CPU- Octa core Max 2.0 GHz
Ram- 4 .00 GB
Baseband Version- 953_GEN_PACK-1.13106
4. 1. 1.3223618
Kernel Version- 3.18.31-perf-g156c0a5
I want to add something- I was unable to install rr rom but once I tried to flash gapp that i have already downloaded, but this was successful. I dis not know anything so i wiped everythings and restored ny nandroid back up. This process has happened many times.

You have a Mido - but more than likely the TWRP is outdated.
Which version did you flash? Please use the last one (actuall it is ver. 3.2.1-0) from here: https://dl.twrp.me/mido/
- or -
alternatively you can use RedWolf recovery (a nice fork of TWRP).
Twrp
Ok then i'll try once again with red wolf recovery.
By the way, Thank u soo much fo ur help.

All listed ROMs have the same settings applied and perform the same.
Is up to the user, if the camera and Bluetooth is important or any specific App to be use.
Camera and Bluetooth works on Kikat, Lollipop and Nougat.
Oreo and Pie does not provide Camera or Bluetooth, but are newer version.
All of them can be flash easily and nothing to worry, the Tablet will not get brick.

The November 1, 2019 built of kitkat by Milaq, youtube plays. For some ROM, when running youtube for the first time, it won't work and a reboot is required. The Kikat by jcsullin works better with youtube.

Is always recommended to use the highest frequency that the Tablet can handle for the best performance and use the HpTp_MaXtreme_*** settings.
There are many alternatives for google apps, for youtube:

whats the procedure i have unlocked bootloader
was able to flash Android 12 Gsi successfully.. But couldn't Boot system.
Only gsi arm64 Android 12 worked though.
You can check any instructions on Google because Gsi has one way for all devices. but it's on your own risk.
Sorry for being off topic but what's the difference between the custom roms made specifcally for the device and the gsi roms?

1> Custom ROMs are more Optimized for the devices they are published for. Also, they usually have more features and upgradations while GSI (Generic system Image) is better than plain simple vanilla AOSP (Android Open Source Project) in most cases and are supposed to have a higher chance of adapting for installation on any supportive (ARM architechture etc.) device.
2> Custom ROMs are usually larger in size (1Gb/2gb etc. ) while GSIs are usually smaller in size
( 500Mb/700Mb etc.)

OctaviOS GSI (GSI Arm64-ab) booted on my Redmi note 10 but Lineage 18.1 is way better as per my opinion, you have to flash Gapps though.
P.S.- I'm still waiting for some more vanilla ROMs OR GSIs to be made for this device butfrom what I know the developer communities seem to be more in favor of making Rom/Gsi (OR Ports) for the PRO versions of Redmi Note series directly, so some of the lower devices not getting enough attention.

Which custom ROM should I use

I want to increase performance, should I do all this or should I just stay with it, and if I should, which custom rom do I use
Xiaomi 8A, 2G ram
You can go with Pixel Experience ROM. It's pure android with a lot of stability and also Android 12 is available but it's in beta stage right now. is your device Realme 8a DUAL?

I'm using the official pixel experience with Android 13 on my Redmi 8A and there's really no point in hoping that the performance will improve. I have almost no applications in the costum rom and even if I turn off the animations, the phone still lags, I recommend buying a new phone.
