About this new update.. - Xiaomi Mi A3 Questions & Answers

My phone is still running on Android 9 with march security patch. I received an update prompt saying that it has May 2020 patch (1.33Gb size) . I would love to get the latest security patch but not the Android 10. With that file size, I think it contains android 10 as well, is that correct?

Yes and you won't receive any more security patch updates for Android 9.
All newer builds of the stock rom are android 10

Is it possible to disable automatic update from android 9 to 10? Not to download android 10. For example, for Huawei is possible via ADB. I have xiaomi mi a3 it worked fine for me 9 and as installed 10 is a massacre.

Yes by unlocking bootloader you won't receive any official update from Xiaomi/Google
Then flash latest V10.3.16.0.PFQMIXM (Android 9)

Unlocked bootloader will NOT prevent official OTA update from downloading and installing. OTA won't be installed if it fails verification of boot or system partition (Magisk or TWRP installed, system partition mounted as R/W, etc.).

But has anyone received this update in the Global version?

Debrand Honor 7 Chinese version (PLK-TL01H) to European Version (PLK-L01)

Hi,
I'm trying to debrand my chinese version of Huawei Honor 7 (PLK-TL01H) to European Version (PLK-L01).
As i'm already in Marshmallow version, i should do the following:
1) Downgrade to Android 5.0 PLK-TL01H B190
2) Root the phone thanks to honor 7 MultiTool
3) Flash PLK-L01 B180 version via 3btn force update
4) Flash PLK-L01 B370 version via force update.
I'm trying to rollback (first step) with the file update.app that is B190 version. But i'm already struggling:
1) Force update with *#*#2846579#*#*->select Software Upgrade->select SDCard Upgrade
2) Force update using local update option in settings doesn't work (the option is not available)
3) 3btn give me access to TWRP and not to Force update option (recovery)
I also tried to flash stock recovery, then force update works but stuck at 5% with no error message.
Any idea how to rollback to B190?
Thanks,
Flash the stock recovery of B370 (I assumed it's your current rom) by using "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" command.
After that, downgrade to B300 and install PLK-TL01H B190 (if your brand is not plk-l01). If it's, first you need to install PLK-L01 B180.
Hi,
can you just be a bit more specific and detail me the steps and how to do? Thank you,

Does flashing stock recovery and force updating gets stuck at 5% using 3 button method?
If yes, I had the same problem, I booted into Android and used the *#*#xxxxxx#*#* method and it worked ok.
May be you can give that a try....

Update by HiSuite

hey,
i'm trying to update my Honor 9 to C432-376 (i use C432-366).
No problem (with Hi Suite) to download and install update, but when i reboot, i go to TWRP, some stuff is doing and the return to my 366 build :/
If i update by OTA directly in Android, same thing.
Do i need to relock OEM ?
Have an idea of what can i do ?
Thanks
Auto-answer
Reboot with 3 fingers, and update by EMIUI recovery (Build 366 To 376).
Directly in Android i have update to 376 To 385 and after 385 To Android 9

My device is still android 8, want to update to 9

My Redmi 6a is still android 8 (8.1.0 O11019) and the MIUI version is MIUI Global 10.3.6 | Stable. So I found this thread where you can download the update manually but when I tried doing it, my device says
Can't verify Update
Coudn't verify. Looks like the ROM's secure-patch version is lower than the current version

Is there a way that I can update my phone to android 9?
Unlock bootloader, install twrp, then flash the recovery file with twrp. Keep in mind, don't flash the oreo twrp after you've successfully flashed miui pie, if you do you'll hard brick your phone. The pie twrp can be found in 4 p d a or in the telegram group or just google it.
Or just wait until xiaomi releases the fastboot file so you can flash it with a pc.

Problem rooting Android Pie

Hi all.
I have Honor 9 (STF-L09), I successfully rooted it right when I got it (TWRP + Magisk), even manged to flash stock recovery a few times to get OTAs and re-root again (all updates were EMUI 8.x and Android 8).
Now after performing the latest update, I'm on EMUI 9.1.0, Android 9, Build 9.1.0.210(C432....).
I can't find Pie compatible TWRP. I tried patching the stock recovery (with Magisk) and flash it using fastboot (as always) but Magisk will not install.
I had, the first time I rooted the device) decrypted it. I have no idea if the update re-encrypted the phone.
1. How can I know if the phone is still decrypted? if it isn't how do I decrypt?
2. What is the easiest way to root the Android 9 version?
Thank you

On 9.x pie boot partitioning changed. There is no more ramdisk, and magisk boot is done by booting a patched recovery of your actual installed build (recovery_ramdisk).
Use splitupdate or Huawei Update Extractor to get it from UPDATE.APP inside base.zip of your actual installed build.

Does 8.x twrp shows via adb random filenames in internal memory path : /sdcard/ ?

No, but I no longer have TWRP after the last OTA in order to check.
I think I saw some TWRP for EMUI9 but not for Honor 9.

Tried it, but Magisk Manager says it is not installed.
I got it to work.
My mistake was after flashing the patched recovery_ramdisk I pressed up+power to get to recovery (as the instruction stated), but I had to release the button the second the Honor logo appeared, and so the phone booted via Magisk.
I saw this in the instruction on the other site.
It works. Thanks

Mi A3 OTA stuck at August 2020 ?

Hello,
I have a Mi A3 and the last system update goes back to 5 august 2020 on android 10.
I tried many things to get the latest updates but it always says that there are no new update available.
I'm on stock rom, no root .... but is there a way to get the latest OTA updates ?
A way that does not require to factory reset the phone ?
Thanks a lot !
So in the meantime i managed to upgrade from V11.0.6.0.QFQEUXM to V11.0.10.0.QFQEUXM by downloading and manually applying the successive incremental updates through recovery.
But at no point the system notified me of a newer version, and it still shows that there are no no new upgrades.
What is the best solution to upgrade to android 11 ?
Is it possible to download and apply directly the latest V12.0.18.0.RFQEUXM through recovery without a factory reset ? Or should i go with all incremental upgrades manually ? What is the next incremental upgrade, i can't find one from V11.0.10.0.QFQEUXM to the first verison with android 11 ?
Thanks a lot for any tips.
For anyone in the same situation, i managed to update from android 10 to the latest available rom on android 11 (V12.0.18.0.RFQEUXM at the time).
Just download the latest full recovery file at root of sd card, and apply from the boot menu.
Everything upgraded smoothly, and nothing was erased on my phone.
