Auto-created shortcuts in Android Q - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This used to be a setting in the play store, but then they moved it to settings for the Home Screen. But now it's gone from there as well, at least it is on my P30 Pro.
I've been through all the settings and I can't find where it is now.
SO has the option to automatically create a shortcut on the homescreen when an app is installed been removed from Android now?
If not, anyone know where it's hiding?

Having problems installing shortcuts

I have rooted my nook tablet. Using a honeycomb launcher
by syndicate apps. Now my problem is I can't place shortcuts in
my home screen. I've been trying to get anycut to work but after
making a shortcut newshortcut > activity > android keyboard debug
nothing shows up (Im trying to change the keyboard)
I've tried searching for a solution here but haven't found one. Anyone
found a way to solve this?
Have you tried unchecking and rechecking both USB debugging boxes? Occasionally that messes up the functionality of apps that require root to function (think Anycut does). What you're doing should work.
I did that and still nothing
Have you tried a power cycle? Worked for me.

The first time I tried Anycut, I was using ADW Launcher and the shortcuts wouldn't appear on its home screen. Then I happened to go into Go Launcher which was installed but I wasn't really using at the time, and there were the shortcuts I had created. I have since switched to Go Launcher as my only launcher and the shortcuts appear every time. Just a thought, but maybe try having Go Launcher installed at least next time you try Anycut & see if they show up there. Worked for me.

I'm running into the same problem as BryanSo. I've tried all the aformentioned suggestions and I still can't make shortcuts or folders. When I try, the word "Honeycomb Launcher" in a box shows up on the top of the screen and disappears a few seconds later.
Sounds like a problem with honeycomb launcher. Did you guys try GoLauncher like 150pilot suggested?
When you install any alternate launcher, it should bring back the option to switch to it with the n key- so you can always try it, and then uninstall it and reset your default.
Same happens to me. Alrite ill give go launcher a try
Got it to work it was a problem with the launcher thanks
I am having this same problem with Honeycomb Launcher. I will try Go Launcher...

Problems Setting Up Nova Launcher Prime 4.2.0 On Huawei Ascend Mate 2

Just installed Nova Launcher Prime on my new Ascend Mate 2 but for some strange reason I can't find anything in the settings about setting up home pages. When I installed it on my previous phone (same maker and model), that info was under Desktop in the settings if I recall correctly. But I've gone through the Desktop settings over and over and can't find anything about setting up home pages. I've looked in other areas of the settings and still have not found anything. Any suggestions/help would be appreciated.

What do you mean by "setting up home pages"? How to add a page or set one page as default home screen? You can long press on any launcher screen to open up an additional menu. There you'll have a small home screen icon above each page. Simply navigate to the page you want to set as default home page and click on this icon.

Thanks Orville87 for your help. I was just able to accomplish both tasks, that of designating a home page and adding an additional page. Too bad things aren't clearer in the settings. Things were much clearer when I installed the free version of the app on my previous phone.

No google feed on homescreen

Hi all,
Just set up my Australian version of the mate 20 Pro and it's going fairly smoothly however I noticed that I don't have "Google feeds" option in my home screen settings (see screen shot). Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance
Maybe it depends on your provider or country
As far as I know, EMUI comes with a feed called "HiBoard" and the default launcher only seems to support that. You can use NovaLauncher to get the google feed working though (in theory).
On mine theres an option in Home screen settings to enable Google feed by swiping right on the homescreen, I've mine disabled but it was on by default.
I get to it using settings, home screen & wallpaper, home screen settings, its then at the bottom for me.
I'm not using any 3rd party launchers, stock.
DOH! just managed to see your screenshot and mine is where HiBoard is on yours.

euro versions have google feed. chinese/int versions have hiboard
It's just as easy to click on the little G in the Google now search bar widget that some people including myself keep on homescreen.

How to create shortcuts within apps?

Hello,
I've been using Nova Launcher and Button Mapper for years and it comes with one handy feature which is Activity launcher. I am able to create shortcuts to any hidden app/settings and sometimes I can even make shortcut within app depending on which activities that app has.
Does anyone knows is it possible to create custom shortcut activities on Android 9 and Android TV 9?
Let's make few examples if you don't understand what I mean: Shortcut that directly opens YouTube subscriptions/watch later, Shortcut that directly opens HBO GO favorites, Shortcut that directly opens "Downloads" in any file manager etc.
Some apps already have those activities and it's pretty cool to make shortcuts with them on my Android TV Box remote control, while some apps don't have those activities at all except main one.
There is one more example, I use one app called EON TV and in order to go to "Favorites" I need to click over 8 times through UI to see Favorites list. Can I just somehow make custom activity that leads to favorites and map it with Button Mapper on my remote?
Thanks!

a few questions

hi all, i have a realme 7 pro and i want to disable the google screen to the left, cant seem to find the setting anywhere.
id also like to enable keypad sounds and change the volume of it? right now its super loud.
when i cloned my old phone to my new one (realme 7 pro) i chose to not bring any apps over but it decided to install some google apps, such as google photos and file manager, so now i have 2 of each and its confusing, how do i remove the google apps and keep the realme ui apps? when i go into the app settings the disable button is greyed out.
last but not least is there a way to use a stock android launcher? im not a big fan of the realme ui.
Cheers!
