Some apps have such issues. But those apps can read files in /sdcard/Android/data/<app name folder>/. Would you mind telling what exactly you want to do?

[Q] its good idea to install apps2sd???

Hi
i just rooted my sgs2 and i got 16gb external sd card, i have seen lots of good apps and i want to install them but before that i have read that some people recomend to install apps2sd to save space on the phone but other said that with that amount of space you dont need to install this app, also i readed that some roms dont support the app, so its good idea to install apps2sd???
I really like apps and i will check 3 or 5 roms. If its a good a idea, should i install first, before any other app??

I don't know apps2sd.
But it sounds like it moves your apps to the external sd card.
That can also be done with stock Android system: Setting > Applications > SD card.
Then click on the app you want to move and say move to sd card.
I had some apps on my external sd card, but some apps are loaded a little bit later/slower, when they are on the external sd card.
So, I recommend that all apps, which you need very often and especially direct after booting the phone, should stay on the internal sd card.
And after flashing some "early" ICS Rom versions, I lost my apps which were on the external sd card.
I had to re-install them from Play store.
But this was only an issue of some ICS ROMs/kernels, and should be fixed now.
Anyway, that caused me to move all apps back to the internal sd card.
I just want to be on the "safe side" ;-)
you should absolutely not install app2sd (the app of that name), because the functionality is already present in all roms.
in settings -> apps you can move apps.
however, in contrast to the previous post, apps are moved between the /data/ partition of the internal sd card and the /sdcard/ partition of the internal sd card.
as you might know, /data/ has 2GB, /sdcard/ has about 12GB. You can check on your current storage space occupation in settings -> storage.
if you have enough free space on data, leave your apps there, as sdcard is a universal storage space, that can also contain music, photos, videos and so on and since this space is also accessible to users that are not rooted, it is more versatile and therefor more valuable.
Since both partitions are on the same sd card, you don't have to worry about speed differences.
After moving some apps using apps2sd I had to restore a nandroid because it messed up my system.

great i wont install apps2sd, but now what kind of files or info is recommended to be in the external SDcard?
I have on the external sd card my movies, music, photos and videos recorded with the phone camera, my titanium backup folder, few custom rom zip files, nandroids etc.

^Ditto. Keep your media and big files on external SD, keep your apps on the internal app memory if you can (its around 2gb in size, unless you go over that there is no need to put apps on SD).

Pretty much a obvious question for most people . Do install it ! It moves apps to SD ( wow ) , clearing space for many many other stuff . So , why not install it ?
Thank me if i helped ~
well iam fully loaded an my opinion is the app notifies u wen u install a app,but on the hard core side wen many apps r moved to sd ,ive crashd sometimes..i think it was better if there was a option to store apps directly on the ext sd card instead of phone or int sd card...
Try GL to SD from the market, posted a threat like this a month ago and someone recommend me this.

[Q] Where exactly is app data stored?

I'm rooted and not running the latest VZW update, but I've finally come the the point where I've run out of internal storage and want to move some apps with heavy data like games to my SD. So far I've only found FolderMount as an option and I've watched videos on how to use it but the storage/emulated/0/Android/obb folder is empty and if I go up to Android/data/ there's only a few of my apps in there. Where else can my apps be located?
Thanks in advance.
The data is moved to the external sd card by default. It should be the same path just under the extsdcard

M8 Installing Apps to Both Internal and External Storage

Hi everyone,
I'm running stock Sense 6.0 (4.4.2).
Whenever I download an app from the Play Store, it downloads it twice, both in storage/emulated/0/android and in storage/ext_sd/android. I want to keep my external sd card for music, so I don't want apps taking up space on it. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the updates to the Play Store, digging around in my settings, and deleting the /android directory from my external SD card, but nothing works. Does anyone know what's going on?
Thanks!
They aren't actually installing on your SD card. They are just creating a folder there should you choose to move their data to SD card in settings. Don't worry, the folders won't take up any space.

reclaim internal storage (root)

Hello,
Some additional actions you can perform on a rooted phone to reclaim some of the little internal memory besides link2sd.
Download foldermount
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39178981#post39178981
use it to mount folders to SD: (for example)
/storage/emulated/0/DCIM/.thumbnails
no matter where your photos are stored, thumbnails are always created here. Emptying the folder doesn't help since thumbnails are recreated. My folder was 1.2 Gb in size (I have a lot of photos)
/storage/emulated/0/Whatsapp
Whatsapp doesn't like to be linked to sd. But al the media in your chats go in this folder. This folder can be mounted on SD
/storage/emulated/0/Download
You could clean it up on a regular base, this is easier.
One warning about Link2SD
Be careful to link google play services .apk to your SD card. I did, but when my card corrupted, i could not do anything with my phone anymore because of missing google account. Could not recreate account, could not install from play store, could not install from internet. Had to reset my phone to get it working again.
Good luck
Another warning about link2sd is you shouldn't move library files as it messes up some apps and they give you errors when you launch them

Memory card vs Internal Storage

i, my current internal storage is almost full (80%) and that has made my phone quite slow. I dont have anything major in internal storage except the apps and whatsapp data. All pictures and music are on the 8gb memory card. I was wondering if i could transfer all my apps to the memory card. Is it possible to do that and install new apps on memory card rather than internal storage?
P.s My phone isnt rooted

There's absolutely no problem with pushing apps to the SD card. Open Settings -> Apps -> Choose the App you want to push to SD card -> storage -> change. With this process you can nearly move all of your Apps to the SD card. This will free up your space ^^

Yes
This is because some of the apps are pre-installed like Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, Clean Master... for these you won't be able to see the "Change Storage", in this case you can uninstall the pre-installed Apps and re-install it. But make sure your default Storage location is selected as "SD Card" instead of "Internal Storage".
For the rest of the Apps you can change the Storage... I have also done the same with many apps and freed up almost 2 GB of Space.
I hope it will be helpful to you.

i dont think emui will allow you to change app download storage to sd card, you have to root and be running on a custom rom (based on stock android, may be.) to easily move apps to sdcard, .
or you can manage the sapce by clearing app datas for not so important apps, clearing junk files, move all your media to sdcard , thats the best option..
