Redmi Note 9S/ 9 Pro dust under camera lens, does your phone have it? - Redmi Note 9S / Note 9 Pro (Indian Model) Question

So I have read some complaints abut Redmi Note 9s/ 9 pro suffering from dust issue under the camera lens, I looked it up on google and it was a MAJOR manufacturing defect with Redmi note 8 series phone (just google it) and now people are posting similar issues with note 9s or 9 pro. Can you guys please give your feedback so we can know if these devices have the same manufacturing flaw?

I've had mine for 2 weeks now and haven't noticed. I will say that I do ride my motorcycle everyday and my phone holder is on the handle bars and I have no wind shield in place. So far so good.

Hehe...so the wind goes through your phone every day. So no surprise that there is no dust in your phone ?

Wanna bring up this thread because it is very serious issue. I think the phone have a faulty design. This error is strange. Now the factories in Indonesia and India are distinctly different. However, the problems encountered were almost the same with the dusty camera. Indonesia version have joyeuse codename, don't know about India release. I'll insert some pictures from the forums I come across.

This one's even worse. An insect got into the camera lens. Live and in circles!
And there is much other evidence. For the record, the picture above is mostly taken from the FB group in Indonesia. And that's not quite yet! Also in other countries with the same problem. In this condition I want to refund this phone. Worst.

Solution?

Isn't that a sign that something is wrong with the quality of the assembly? Just ask to exchange the unit or ask for a refund.

While I'd usually agree, judging by the posts in this thread it seems about on-par with the rest of the 9 Pros people have.

Had dust in my redmi note 9s after 10 days of purchase, Xiaomi refused to fix it under warranty, luckily the dealer from whom i bought the phone is my friend. Given the phone back to him & took a new one.

I have a 1-month note 9S. Dust started to accumulate on me too. Is there a solution?

ask for a unit replacement if in your location there is a xiaomi service place

I didnt have it at first, but its happened to mine too now after about a month. I'm not gonna have it repaired because i dont have a Mi Store in sweden, and they would most likely deny warranty over my unlocked bootloader.
The way i see it, this should be fairly easy to fix by replacing the back glass. Thats assuming the replacement back glass is properly made and doesnt have the same issue.

Have had my phone for 3 weeks, there are already 4-5 very small dust specs under the main camera. Trying to find a way to seal it some way from the outside without altering the aesthetics of the device as giving it to the repair service center will take time...

would a very small bead of hot glue or something around the lens cover prevent this you think?

Just grab a can of pressurized air and blow on the lens edge.

Did it work for you? Where exactly should I place the nozzle of the air spray can? Can you share a photo showing the spot?

I had the same question. I think it wouldn't look particularly nice so the best solution I can think of is a case that has a slider on th back that covers the camera and protects it from dust when not in use.
There are a couple out there.

I have 2 Curtanas. One blue EU since 2 months and one silver global since 1 month. Both cameras are clean, no dust. Even though 1 has been frequently in a dusty environment.

No dust, on my 3 month old Joyeuse.

No such issue on my curtana. Used it for more than four months now.

They will have to replace it until it doesn't have the rings or refund your money, so what's the problem? ? Mine doesn't have the rings,
So there must be plenty that don't, to use to replace the bad ones.

Of course they will have to and they are just replacing mine.
The problem is that I wanted to see other affected screens but you have something against it.
Do you work for Samsung?
out of curiosity have people been able to take them back months after purchase? I got mine in July it had the ring a day or so later, took it back, got another, and just yesterday i noticed i had the rings when slightly pressing on it, and now i'm guessing it's only a matter of time before it shows up....naturally i do not have a receipt any longer and not sure i'll be able to return it to best buy without it or because it's been so long???

Funny thread, lol. Can see some people have it worse than mine. I'm in the uk with a us model too. I know there's a few threads about the problem but I am amazed and somewhat comforted by how many people have the issue. I am using the Samsung book cover which could be making this worse.
Took mine back to Curry's, the manager said all models had it, even their display model. (I had the 16GB black model, and got a refund.)
Then ordered the 32GB white model, and so far no newton rings, I will keep getting replacements if it manifests again though, for something this expensive, it's only logical to expect something perfect and free of fault. Cosmetic or not.
there seems to be an inherent manufacturing defect in the screen of the Samsung galaxy tab 10.1, in that it develops an oily slick / newton rings( just google newton rings oil slick galaxy tabs and you will see the extent of the defect ) ,when the tablet has been used for approximately a week , this does not affect all the tablets but around 45-60 pct. are affected , I have written to Samsung uk asking for a change under warranty , they have refused saying that because I bought the tablet overseas they cannot repair it .
I may understand some of that , if it was a warranty claim , however as a manufacturing defect this becomes too much ! , I am NOW trying to assemble as many people as possible to mount a legal case against Samsung uk , as they are refusing to repair any tablet that was bought outside their territory and they have known about that defect for a while now
if anyone is interested please let me know and I will send you my pm

Dust under camera lens

Hi guys,
I got alot of dust (or maybe something else, like fungus) under my camera lens. It's getting worse and worse. At first I didn't see a big difference, but now it's this bad:

Hello.
I just made myself an account after having received tons of help from this site without ever posting already, so please bear with me if I make any mistakes!
I've read and understood the forum rules, and I have also watched the video.
Is there any solution other than taking the phone to a professional? I have the exact same problem, although there are not as many gray spots, and I can also confirm that it is most definitely dust, seeing as the dark spots are constantly moving, appearing and disappearing.
Thanks in advance!
I recently received my i9100 back from vodafone after my phone developed the same problem - dust inside the camera lens.
I did have to reset my phone to stock and remove any evidence of using custom ROMs, but the fault was covered by the 2 yr warranty. I handed it to vodafone on a saturday and had my repaired phone back within a week. Thankfully I'd made a complete backup image using the clockworkmod app before i sent the phone away, so it didn't take long to have the phone back exactly as it was before. VillainRom all the way.
if its not on the lens [after you confirm it] why not to open the back cover of the device, clean the lens and put it back?
btw - how dust got into the device anyway??

dust returns
Several months after having my phone repaired the dust is getting back into the lens agin. Its not visible on the photos yet, but I'm sure it will only get worse. Bugger.
There are two problems on the posted photos: a pink spot, and some dark spots. I assume we are not talking about the pink spot, as it is is a known problem with cameras on several phones...
As regards to the dark spots, the design of the lens cover should prevent any dust from getting in front of the lens - there is a thin foam gasket around the window on the back of the cover, and the camera module is supposed to be pressing firmly against it when the cover is properly installed, sealing off the dust. In case of dust problems like this I would guess something is wrong either with the cover itself (possibly a missing or damaged gasket), or with the way it's assembled. The camera module itself may also be seated the wrong way somehow.
If your phone is taken care of by a service technician, you can't do much about it, other than ask them to pay an extra attention to this gasket (and we all know how professionals usually react to customers telling them what to do, even though, frankly, a customer may be more qualified for the job sometimes). But if you are willing to open up your phone yourself, it should be fairly easy to spot a problem, because the camera module leaves a very clear impression on the gasket...

I've been facing similar issue simce the past 11 months and warranty has already expired. There's one black spot on the right side of my camera images. I'm trying to live with it. Searched the entire Internet, couldn't find any tutorial to open and clean the camera unit. And without any tut I'm not going to open up my device as I'm scared as ****.

What you need is not a tutorial for cleaning the camera, but general disassembly instructions. You can definitely find them, either separate, or as part of the S2 service manual. I've got it, but don't have it handy right now, sorry... You don't need to rip your phone apart, just to remove the backplate. It is very easy, nothing to be scared about. Check my earlier msg just a few posts back, make sure you have a good gasket around the lens piece -- if it's damaged or misaligned, the dust WILL get inside.
I just started having this problem a few weeks ago. One little spec of dust had gotten into the lens of mine. I'm thinking about unscrewing the back of and cleaning it with a glass cloth rather than taking it back to my carrier to get it serviced.
Hey guys, i also was facing the problem with dust on the lense and the covering glass having a lot of tiny scratches. Couldn't take a sharp photo anymore, focussing took ages, so camera was kinda useless at all.
I bought a middle chassis at amazon, costs about 12 €. Today i changed the middle chassis and cleaned the camera lense.
Changing the chassis and cleaning took about 20 minutes, doing everything very carefully and using this tutorial:

So, just wanted to share the results!
See attachments for before and after.

Wow! How is your lens so fogged up??
I got mine replaced a few months back (warranty) and there was only a small dust spec.

This is sad really...
Why is it the people doing the complaining have just one post to their name. This started like 3 weeks back. Only one post. You'd think they'd be a bit more worked up right. You read the craziest things on the sony forum.
Have noticed a similar trend on product review sites, for 5 star as well as one star reviews. Just one post and post date is the same as join date and these people are never to be heard from again.
Why does glass break ? either stress or a temperature differential.
Don't cool an overheated phone under the tap. It might 'self crack'.
The most possible reason is overheat.
The water proof phones like z, z1 come with strong adhesive, which expands and then break the glass.
You have to send it for repair or DIY repair.
An original glass can keep the phone waterproof. So you should be careful when select the replacement part for repair.
You can get origianl Sony Xperia phones replacement parts at wirigs.com.
Photoshopped. I can tell by the pixels and from seeing quite a few shops in my time.
Don't think I've known a set of owners to be so protective over the opinion of their device.
Do you think that there is a conspiracy going on?
Is a fact that most people only turn to the Internet when they have an issue with their phone, so only having one post would be normal.
Mine has a cracked back too.... And I'm not a new poster

it's definitely an overheat problem so please guys stop covering up for Sony, if this doesn't happen to you now it could be affected by it later
my advice do not shoot lots of 4K video as it happen to be the most process that rise the temp. very high, till Sony resolve the issue stay away of any hot environment
http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/05/3...peria-z1-cracking-screen-issue-sony-responds/
However, Sony released the following statement to Watchdog, highlighting for the first time that there is an issue:
“In a small proportion of cases, screens have indeed cracked with no identifiable cause and in these instances the phone has been repaired for free.”
sight.. Finally, and there are still people who says that's a Photoshop or an impossible to happen without any force
anyone from UK guys.. can you confirm the statement from Sony?
The statement was made on watchdog, now that they have made the statement on such an open outlet, I imagine any returns on cracked screen with zero frame damage will get a repair under warranty. Whether cover is for a single crack or multiple fractures remains to be seen

Took my Z2 back to CPW today after it got a small crack near the camera after i have been using satnav for an hour. Service centre said sony know about the issue and if you cant feel the crack then it will be heat related. I noticed when i took my phone of the dash the gap between the glass and bezel had grown. I think when it strunk down something might of got stuck in the gap and caused the crack.

How long do you have your gear fit? That's unbelievable. Seems Samsung is using the wrong material or plating.
It's salt and water. Odds are they used zinc and nickel for plating. No toxicity worries there. EDIT: If you're not allergic. Watch for that. Some folk get some pretty serious reactions, and they can vary quite a bit between reactions.
Some of that looks like wear, though. That's definitely a manufacturing flaw/bad design/cheap product.
Keep an old toothbrush or the head of one if you use and electric, and give them a good scrub every day that you wash your car (same idea). Hopefully that's about once a week. Maybe put some sort of machine friendly oil (mineral oil, bike lube) on (wipe off the excess with a tissue).
It might get some results for better future products if you let them know about it. You may even get a new band.
Mostly, though, thanks for the heads up! I know now to do all that stuff.
Mine is also rusting, I just noticed it. Also the plastic "chrome" looking bezel around the face is chipping off. It's black plastic underneath. I wonder if that is covered under warranty? I've only had the Gear Fit for three months.

Here are the pics:
That looks like the chrome plating has been removed by contact with an acid type liquid. Sweat contains acid but I would have thought Samsung would have had that covered. Do you come into contact with any other chemicals? Do you swim in salt water? Just curious. Mine still looks like new.
With sweat only, but that should be ok for a fitness/sport watch. No swimming in salt water or anything like this.

How long do you have your gear fit? That's unbelievable. Seems Samsung is using the wrong material or plating.

Sorry for the late reaction: Hi have the fit since beginning May. Fortunately you don't see it when I wear the watch.

Mine is also rusting, I just noticed it. Also the plastic "chrome" looking bezel around the face is chipping off. It's black plastic underneath. I wonder if that is covered under warranty? I've only had the Gear Fit for three months.

Yes to all of this.
I wear it at work and for a while, during kickboxing.
1) definite chipping around the chrome bezel
2) oxidation from sweat
3) clasp became weaker till the point that it was useless.
AND
4) allergic reaction from prolonged wearing.
Now I wear it now and then. Taking a break from the Fit so that my wrist doesn't look like a plague bearer.
Finally I got the solution
Update:
First I went to the store where I bought it... they sent me to the repair center... the service there tried to send me back to the store to buy a complete new bracelet :crying:
After complaining and protesting and a talk to the manager on duty, they decided to send it to the head office
After a week+, I got a email, SMS and a call that my Gear Fit is ready for pick up.
And now..... Funny but: I got a complete new Gear Fit
Samsung Italy doesn't see this rust as an issue... they didn't do anything for my gear fit and give it back to me.

General OnePlus continuing to fail with build quality (Bend Test)

After the bend test failure with the OnePlus 10, Zack was hoping OnePlus had fixed those failings with the 10T.....

...sadly not.
OnePlus 10 on the left, OnePlus 10T in the hands.
DO NOT put this phone in your front OR back pocket.
Of course it will break because frame is made from plastic.
10 Pro also breaks even with metal frame because of poor design.
Zack is a monster of a human being lol. I have seen other people try to replicate his so easily snapping the 10 Pro, something he did effortlessly, and nobody else had such an easy time with it.
Tricks of the trade!

Should be fine, just don't wear tight denims/trousers and have the phone in those pockets.
Get a decent case and tempered glass screen protector, can't really do much more than that.
It's still pretty bad that they've apparently learned nothing from the 10 Pro result. OnePlus usually has excellent device stability. Another sign they're definitely slipping with Pete at the helm.
It is so stupid to complain about the build quality. When in the world are you going to crack your phone like that and for what purpose? Phones are not made to be cracked, it is not their purpose. Phones are to be taken care of with, that's right, care. To brake it and then to complain about it? Stop the nonsense.

Unfortunately the world is full of people that don't have nothing better to do and give hate on one brand or another just for fun. I'm sure that nobody will seat down with his phone into his pocket and for sure if someone make it will break his display.
Actually, the build quality is pretty okay, and much better than 10 pro. The only problem is, Zach is a gym freak, and is fun at bending stuff to the breaking point. Here, this guy tried to bend the oneplus 10T with tremendous force, and failed. He isn't as ripped as Zach, so if you dunk a shockproof case and slap a tempered screen guard, you're good to go. It has Gorilla glass 5 on the front and back, and they offer a pretty good protection. Plus you don't go every other day trying to bend a phone so ignore Zach's video and buy it. Here's the video from the Indian guy trying to bend it.

Yeah, Zach is built different and a normal person can't bend the phone that easily!
