All huawei devices have locked bootloader and there is no way to unlock it without code from huawei. And huawei doesn't give any code.
So root on any huawei is simply impossible.

Hi, isn't an option in Developers options settings with an OEM unlock switch? I see it in my P30 Pro. I assume this unlocks the bootloader.

This option is available in all devices and allows you to unlock the bootloader using manufacturer's method. And on Huawei it requires an unlock code you'll never get.
Did you try on your P30 Pro?

1 - For this method to work you first need to unlock the bootloader or at least obtain the unlock code. That is explained in threads Unlock bootloader HONOR 9 and [Guide] How to get Bootloader unlock Code easily through Chinese site. - DONE
2 - Enable the USB debugging mode in the Developer options. - DONE
3 - Download the file HWOTA.zip and unpack it to the root of your system. - DONE
4 - Download the 3 files
update_data_full_public.zip - DONE
update_full_STF-L09_hw_eu.zip - DONE
update.zip - ALMOST 70%

I have received the camera APK from the P30 Pro. Unfortunately it will not install on my Mate 10 Pro with 9.0.0243. Somehow logical that the 9.1 apps check for target OS version.
Does anyone have an idea how to install it, and would it work at all?

If your bootloader is locked, then there's no other way to install it. Post the APK here, maybe we can make it work on unlocked devices!

You meant on locked devices? The apk won't install, so i don't think you can get it working as it is.
The camera is working, no issue so far. The interface is a bit different and honestly i didn't spotted any improvement over the stock one.

It could be possible if you decompiled it and changed package name then recompiled (and remove any checks, it should only check for 9.0 as 9.1 is still Pie, but signature could be causing it). But decompiling Huawei apks is another story.

Couldn't they be extracted from the update package using Huawei update extractor? I guess that'd still require root access come to think of it.

Ive installed the module through Magisk on my Mate 10 Pro runing EMUI9.0 and it works but the app is now called -4.0dip ?!?!?!?!?!?!

Wildvine depends on bootloader status, if bootloader is unlocked you will not get L1 certification

Not applicable for Xiaomi Global units. On an unlocked bootloader, you still get L1 on Global units.

Guys, for all those who had an issue installing the Indian RUI version on top of global model and all the bugs of battery drain, automatic brightness, NFC not working, no update setting etc, check this thread down below for the solution. Get update failed with manual download and update via eecovery. Finished as an .ozip renamed to .zip and fails on each. No vpn I use for a Russian IP loads a result thru update menu at, I get no result of any kind. This phone is just a headache. Wish I'd have realized there was 2 variants before buying it under the assumption I could unlock the bootloader.

Don't need to rename .ozip to .zip if you are using stock recovery.

The only suggestion is to open a cause on cause.org and ask for firmwares and kernel source code and bootloader unlock and make sure everyone sign it
