Unlocking Radio Bands - Xiaomi Mi 10 Questions & Answers

Hi, I got my hands on a Global Mi 10 5G variant, it has the EU MIUI 12 installed and it is rooted.
I installed Network Signal Guru and I've been able to watch that I been using band 2-4 here in Puerto Rico.
I have read that you can unlock all bands that are supported by your phone modem but I haven't found a Tutorial that explains how to do this process, I know that you need to have some values of some sort.
Here in Puerto Rico T-Mobile has 5G, the SD865 supports all bands here but has you know only a couple are available by the manufacturer. Is anyone has done this? I want to be able to use band 66 of LTE to.

Here are some of my closest radio bands, I have used a Razer Phone 2 which connects to band 66 at the same spot.

GSM Bands Supported on Kenzo

Does the Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon version support the 850mHz gsm band? I have found contradictory information. Where I live in rural Costa Rica my phone does sometimes fall back to 2G and my provider uses 850mHz.
Thanks.

You should have no problems using Snapdragon version of Redmi Note 3 Pro.
It should work for 2G. 3G, and 4G LTE in your country for any phone carriers there except for Tuyo movil, 4G LTE bands/ frequencies isn't supported for that carrier, although rest is fine.

What is Le Max 2's LTE A category?

Anandtech mentions it is LTE-A Category 12 (600 Mbps)
Some sites mention it is Category 6 (300 Mbps)
So what is it exactly?
With the new Non-HLOS.bin shipped with 17 S, there ist no cat 6 LTE , only 150 Mbit cat 4. The + sign at 4G sign doesnt appear
So should I go back to Indian 16S ? I am aware Indian 17S or 18S is on the verge of getting officially released. I prefer the Chinese 17S because battery is absolutely brilliant after removing the bloat. Indian 16S has horrible battery and standby time.
How to check the LTE-A ? I'm on CN 16s, in Malaysia (CA Band_3_7).
Whenever my phone show 4G+, then phone signal will drop for total no signal, can't call or data (Searching mode)

CN 16s and older ROMS are worthless for LTE. Try with Indian 16S.

Cannot tell as my operator is going to start CA soon in my area. People are saying that Indian 16S supports CA while Chinese 17S and below do not support CA.

If you get a chance please post your modem version. Thanks.
Snapdragon 820 has X12 modem (category 12 LTE up to 600 Mbps). I have had 4G+ for ages (in Japan on OCN Mobile One, an MNVO on the docomo network). However, as it is an oversubscribed MNVO my speeds are never great and even when getting a CA (4G+) signal they don't really change. My current firmware baseband version is as per this screenshot:

Unfortunately even on the same base chipset some of the radio params are up to the OEM, depending on what band combinations LE have programmed CA may work with some networks and not with others (eg OCN might be using 20Mhz x2 in 800Mhz while ThreeUK might be using 1x 15Mhz on 1800Mhz and 1x 15Mhz in 800Mhz).

Yes, obviously availability of CA depends on carriers and on the LTE bands available to the device. Not all bands are turned on for our device so some people some places are going to be SOL. In the case of OCN the carrier aggregation is probably working with bands 1 & 3 I guess (the other bands OCN use are 19 & 21, which are not available on the LeMax 2).

Ok so far then:
272-05 Three Ireland B3, B20, B8 Not Working
272-01 Vodafone Ireland B3, B20, B8 Not Working
440-10 OCN Japan (NTT) B1, B3, B19, B21 Working
Probably should just google what bands CN Mobile use for CA, that'll be the only thing LeEco will bother to implement in the baseband.

CA is strange. My friend has a Moto Z Play he bought direct from Motorola Japan. He is using OCN, same as me. His Z Play has the same available OCN LTE bands as my LeMax 2 (B1 & B3) and Motorola say it is CA compatible, but while I get 4G+, he doesn't. And another friend has a Japanese version ASUS Zenfone 3 and he gets 4G+ on another MNVO using same docomo network with B1 & B3. So it seems to be a bit of a lottery depending on your device & your region & carrier.

Compatibility isnt straightforward as its also dependent on resource blocks or RBs. Some radios can handle CA 2x 2x20Mhz and some might only manage 2x 2x10Mhz. Thats why reading the RRC messages between tower and handset is useful as OEMs dont release the full config that their UEs broadcast.
Snapdragon 820 aggregates 3 frequencies (3CC). I never managed to force him to do it, but 2 can (2ca).

LTE band unlock -- Never work

Hi forks,
I want to create a new thread because there are too many misleading information about this topic. Band unlocking does not work. I'm here in the US for a month and after trying to modify #6828 value LTE will not show up in my phone (enable band 2). Even unlock bootloader, install LineageOS but it will never work.
That's it. Mi5 will never work in the US with LTE.
Who cares. Why do you need 4g on a phone anyway?

You are correct, I followed the articles to unlock bands. It showed me all the LTE bands unlocked however it never connected on those bands even the mobile company support those bands.
You can not connect to any LTE band other than came with xiaomi mi5 inbuilt.
U can Unlock
I think you can unlock the band. I am from India. I brought Mi5 from china. Band 3,5,40 are the bands in India. There is band 5 was missing in my Mi5. I unlocked band 5 through nvram value edit method
If you read the thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-5/how-to/progress-trying-to-unlock-bands-t3337476 carefully, you will find that the method does work but only for some bands. Specifically, while the Mi5 comes with bands 1, 3, 7, 38-41 working, with the method bands 5 and 8 can also be made to work.
hey iam also purchase the same mi5 64 from china after that i notice the lte band 5 is not working cause iam from rural area here is only band 5 work as well. i rooted the phone and after that try the nvram values but with no signal plz tell me the detail method how to unlock the lte band no 5 in mi5 phone.

How to enable 4g LTE bands on Mi A3 device from India

Mi A3 Global version supports different LTE bands than the India version as shown in the information here
https://www.kimovil.com/en/frequency-checker/US/xiaomi-mi-a3
Is there a way to enable Global LTE bands as shown to be supported in the Mi A3 bought in India ? I am in the US and able to connect only to 2G network on T Mobile
I'm in the same boat. I'm in the US and have the EU version and I'm only getting H+ which I guess is like 3.5g instead of LTE. I wonder if flashing the international ROM will do anything. I'm going on a trip soon though so I don't want to be messing with this phone in case I brick it or something.

I might be a little late, but both the Global and EU ROMS/variants support same bands. I have global version flashed to EU ROM, and there is no connectivity difference. I use T-Mobile and get LTE most of the time (bands 2 and 4). I do wonder if it's possible to unlock/access other LTE bands (like 12,66,71)?

LG v60, which version for Europe except the v600ea ?

Hello,
I'm trying to acquire a lg v60 but it seems that the european version is impossible to get.
Are the others versions working in Europe ?
Here are the frequencies in France that I need : 800 MHz (B20), 1 800 MHz (B3), 2 100 MHz (B1), 2 600 MHz (B7)
Will a V600TM be fine or not ? I don't mind the 5g, only 4g.
Thanks.

you can take one TM or ATT, TM is a bit more sensitive to bugs and has the possibility of OTA upgrade, but it won't be for long because the support ends. ATT is somewhat more resistant to bugs, but there is no OTA, but again it does not matter because we have all backups up to the latest version of frrmware.

If I buy one, I'll plan to keep it for a long time but I don't know if we the updates are available in Europe.
Frequencies bands are also important, there is no point that I buy the phone if I can't use it with my network operator.
Thanks for the infos, if the frequencies can work, I'll take the TM.

TM support OTA updates outside US but updates will not work long time because LG stop software support.
About 5G you can not used 5G but i think you can like ither guys using it after croisflash.

Is it really like that, that TM will work in Europe? I checked the kimovil.com page and according to this website I will not have support for any frequency in Czech Republic (just 2G). They say that B1 (2100), B3 (1800), B7 (2600) and B20 (800) are not supported. According to the website the ATT version will support all 4 bands of 4G, 3G, but no 2G (I don´t know if I need 2G, do you have any problems?). According to the website the Verizon version will support 3 bands out of 4 of 4G, 3G and 2G, so I guess the Verizon version would be the best.
I am using the Sprint version of LG V50 Thing 5G. It shows I have 5G, but kimovil.com says it does not support. I installed netmonster app to my phone and realized that the phone shows 5G but it does not have any 5G, just 4G. That is a funny thing too.

No problem it support 2G in all countries.
I think only 5g wont work without modifications different.
Kimovil.co. is not right site to see bands, in most of sites shown bands without roaming. Eg. you can see for att officiall site there are roaming bands but on the site no roaming bands.
