All post about glass protecror dont point to one

Screen protector that covers the whole display?

I bought some screen protectors off eBay and they leave about 2mm of space on both sides of the display.
I'm fine with the screen protector not covering the entire front panel but it should at least cover up the display. Whoever designed this film must be out of their mind.
Anyone know of an eBay seller that has a screen protector that actually covers the entire display?
EDIT: I know there are threads about this but they're all about the glass protectors. I'm looking for the film protectors.

Its seems to be the one thing thats hardest to get, I thought the S7 Edge would be the one that would be difficult to get screen protection for given the nature of the screen. I dont know whether its the 2.5D glass on the S7, but any review for screen protectors seem to be bad as there are gaps down the sides. I usually get a glass protector straight away but holding off for now until I decide whether I'm going to bother or not. I had considered one of the film covers but might just go for one of the full screen glass ones like the one below, although I really dont want to take away from the looks of the device.

I bought a tempered glass screen protector off eBay that covers the entire edge but leaving a tiny bit of room for a case to go on without lifting the protector. But the downside is you can see the dot matrix in the sun which isn't a major problem for me. I would rather see a good protector that i paid $10 that had dot matrix then see scratches form over time.

Is it the digitizer that you can see when looking at it with bright sunlight?
No. Since the whole protector isn't sticky like the plastic ones usually are. Only the touch screen part of the protector have these little dots that you will see in bright lighting which is to make touch feel normal. Can be quite annoying sometimes but i get over it. Worth the protection to me

Like in the picture in the post below? As you say its weighing up how much it annoys you vs how much you want to protect your screen.

Yeah thats a pretty good example of "The Dot Matrix Effect" but luckily for me the protector i have isn't anywhere near as bad as that. And definitely not as noticeable. It only annoys me the tiniest amount. But i rarely see it or notice it that much sometimes.

Been using a Clear-Coat film screen protector since I got my S7 in March. It's a good product, holds up well and works perfect with my Otterbox Commuter Case. Lifetime warranty. It's not tempered glass.

Does it affect touch sensitivity? Is it slippery the same as the screen? Would be nice to have more in-depth review.

Screen's Lack Of Scratch Protection

I don't know about you guys, but I have to say this is the easiest screen to scratch of the g series phone since at least the g2. Has anyone else noticed this? I have a bunch of small scratches on the edges on the screen on the left and right that are small but noticeable.
Just check cos mine came with a screen protector on so if yours is the same then it's just that getting scratched.
Sent from my LG G6 using Tapatalk
I got mine and ripped the transportation foil of and installed the spigen Steinheil Screen protector. And stuffed it in a rugged armor case. I want my phone to be safe
Gesendet von meinem LG-H870 mit Tapatalk
Under the foil there is a factory fitted screen protector, on mine at least.
Sent from my LG G6 using Tapatalk
Same here, mine came with a screen protector already installed... I ordered mine online so the same day I pretty much ordered an Urban Armor Gear case, so I had that pretty much a day before the phone arrived from Koodo.
The only thing I've managed to scratch is the glass by the LED Flash on the camera, light scratches that may or may not come off with a buffing. I keep on touching the camera instead of the fingerprint sensor, if I grab the phone the wrong way... so I clean it with my shirt or hoody so that's probably where the scratches are coming from.

As others have pointed out, you must have left the plastic coating on the screen. Gorilla Glass 3 is not easy to scratch.
Not to be fasicious here but I would know if the screen protector was on the phone due to the sheen and raised edges. Definitely not that. The screen itself is fine, it's just the small bezel spaces around the screen that scratch easy

LOL, I hear you OP. I don't know how anyone could have a screen protector on their phone and not know. I don't use screen protectors because to me they always look terrible and are uglier then a few tiny scratches that I can barely see (which on my last 2 phones that are always in my pocket I have had 0 scratches). I just inspected my G6 and I don't see any scratches on the front. I think the whole front is covered by GG 3 which is strong against scratches.

Generally I agree, but the tempered glass protector is nearly impossible to notice. Clear, good coverage, and feels like original glass. Not like the plastic protector at all. I'm pretty rough on my phones and would really like to keep the phone in its naked form, but I don't want to risk it.

I have got plastic factory protection screen on that has barely any scratches.
Using the factory plastic screen for 2 weeks and surprised at how well its holding up to be honest
There TGSP are really nice. Just like using the original screen. Inexpensive too
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B06WW4WYBF/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Also, My G6 only came with what appear to be factory protection plastic, at least that is what it seems like to mesince it has a little white tab to remove it with and the phone did not come in a plastic sleeve, which is common these days.
On my V20 I left the factory protector on and it held up well
I received mine with a glass screen protector pre-applied which is nice to have. I have the 64GB/Korean version (LG-H870DS)

I know it's been awhile since you posted this message but I would like to know if you still have your phone. if you do I'm having the same problem right now I have a lot of tiny scratches on the edges of the front screen, the screen itself is not scratched deeply or noticeable at all when you turn on the display you can only see it on the edges when the screen is off and I have checked and I can't see any screen protection pre-installed on the display as some people have said. has anyone figured out why does the front screen scratches so easily my phone is the Korean version H870DS, it came sealed and i peeled the plastic protection as soon as I unboxed it ( phone is 2 weeks old) and has lot of scratches on the front and none on the back or Lensens
I had a Xperia Z5 previously for a year which i used with no case and no screen protector, barely got a scratch and i definitely treated it worse than my new G6

I received the exact same version of the phone from amazon about 2 weeks ago and I've got a lot of scratches on the front screen, how did you figure out yours came with a tempered glass pre-installed? I've checked on mine and I cannot see Any Factory screen protection, however the box came sealed and only had a plastic cover that obviously was only meant for shipping

Mine fell off from the 4th floor (to the pavement) and not even a single scratch.
I was holding my nexus 6p in one hand and the G6 in the other. I accidentally dropped the nexus (the metal back) onto the G6's screen, then it slid off onto the couch. Just from this, there are lots of tiny scratches on my G6.

CASEBASE tempered glass 0.24mm

I've recently purchased some black glass screen protectors from CASEBASE.
Fitment is perfect no issues for me.
I do believe they are thinner than others or at least 1 of the thinnest.
They are £6.99 for 2 on ebay.
Just giving you the heads up to protect your op5's
If you found this useful tap thanks

Looks good.
Can't believe the screen protector supplied with my OP5 is shows signs of peeling. I haven't even taken it out of the box yet!

No peeling on this what so ever and it seems to fill the screen more than that 1.
I've never applied a tempered glass before. Easy enough?

Mine is exactly the same with a slight lift along the bottom edge of the screen. The 3T I had briefly was much worse as the lift was top and bottom.
It's the curse of the 2.5D screen and a slightly misaligned or badly sized protector.

No I've not noticed any loss of screen none that I'm aware off as I make sure the screen is lit up when I'm installing it.
There's certainly no lift it fits perfect.
Hopefully some other buyers will be able to give there opinion on it too soon.
Hello,
there is glue just on the black side of the glass or everywhere (even in the middle) ?
Beside when you look at your phone with a white background, is there some oil effect ?

No, there will be not. Okay well if they change adhesive/glue type.
Working thing would need to entire tgsp be adhesive. Or maybe Whitestone style, they have somekind of different glue system which you dry with UV lamp.
But really oil slick comes because glass is just touching screen part thanks to glue on the sides only. So it leaves really small gap between tgsp and glass and if you havent cleaned your screen like some sort un-humam/robot which is really impossible, there will be oil slick.. Maybe not right after you have installed it but soon. Some manufacters (like Orzly) makes "dots" to prevent oil slick. It basically lift really really littlebit tgsp from phone's glass surface so tgsp wouldnt touch screen surface. But then people are crying about visible annoying dots on tgsp.
Thats why Oneplus official tgsp is adhesive from entire glass. But because of OP3/3T/5 style (glass starts bending before screen ends) they needed to cut about 0.4mm from both side with protectors black borders to not produce halo.
So none of methods what different manufacter use, isnt good enough...
Oh i forgot ones without black borders. Either they will end before screen ends or they will cover entire screen but leaves on sides.

They had the matrix dots on the CASEBASE but they don't seem to help the rainbow affect. Whitestone is the way to go I was tempted to get that kit for my s8+ but I found a protector that worked for the s8 even with its big curve.
I'm very surprised there isn't any perfect 1s for oneplus 5. The CASEBASE is close but not quite there. Fitment in it is good.
I think I'll end up with some tpu on it ?

Yeah dots should theoretically help on oil slick and prevent them but it wont delete those entirely and my personal opinion is that it wont help at all.
Orzly's last year model for 3/3T had also dots and oil slick so im not confident that it would be better for this They still have dots, thats what i know for sure

What company the tempered glass is of?

Screen protector?

I'm seriously considering the 8.1 when it launches in the next week or two, here in Germany. I'm pretty concerned about being able to get a decent screen protector, though -- I know a lot of recent phones have pretty significant beveling on the display, and it makes it hard to get a glass protector that won't wind up with an ugly gap around the edges.
Does anybody who got their hands on this early use a glass protector? If so, how does the design work? Does it cover the whole display without leaving a gap?

Well I am not very sure of the tempered glass available right now for 8.1 in India that are good so i am just using a flexible fibre glass screen protector and it leaves no air gaps ,covers the screen almost fully but not full, waiting for a decent one in India too,you can probably check out on gadgetsheilds or Ali express there are some good ones

When you say "almost fully", do you mean that there is a part of the actual *display* that is not covered? One of the brands of glass cover we got for my kids' phones doesn't quite reach the edge, so when the display is on, a few pixels on either side aren't covered, which means that there is a line through the content shown on screen, from the edge of the protector. It looks terrible and is really distracting to me. Is your protector like that, or does it just not quite reach the edges of the front glass (which is fine)?

Here is a photo
Don't worry about the lines on top they are just smudge ,rubbed it to clean on my shirt,no scratches
I really appreciate you taking the time to post the photo! I can see that it comes within a millimeter or two of the case, which is good, but my concern is that *when the screen is on*, a few pixels might fall outside the protector. Also, I can see a millimeter or two around the edges where the protector is not adhered to the screen (presumably, because the glass is beveled slightly away from it), especially in the lower-left.
So: if the part of the protector that's bonded with the front glass, actually covers the entire screen, and none of the lit pixels are obscured by the "air gap", or outside the protector entirely, that's fine, but I know bezels are getting smaller all the time and a lot of phones really want to have an "edge to edge" display, and the 8.1 certainly follows that trend. I'm looking at your photo next to this one from GSMArena and it looks like some of the active screen could well fall under the beveled edges, and thus make it impossible to apply a flat protector without either "cutting off" part of the screen, or leaving it under an air-gap.
I know this is a pretty minor thing but it nags at me when it happens. My current phone has a totally flat display area, but the screen protector needs to be just a little wider, and inevitably hangs off over the beveled bit slightly, which leaves an obvious air-gap no matter how you place it. If parts of the actual picture were under that section, I think it would drive me a little crazy.

Yes you are correct the screen is curved and that's why it's very hard to find a tempered glass in India ,as I said there are some available on AliExpress which covers them fully.i had the same problem with nokia7 plus ultimately had to be with the fibre glass option here in my country.
Jeeze. I really wish I could just buy an Android One phone, high-performance CPU, at least 4GB RAM, with a *flat glass front* and a *tough plastic* or *all metal* back (not glass!). Basically I want them to make a modernized Nexus 5, I guess. Oh well, I'll keep shopping...

No it's not a joke, I just cannot work out how to embed the pics.
I was in Thailand and needed a replacement screen protector, couldn't find one for Nokia 8.1, they came up with this solution by using an iPhone XS Max one, and I'm happy with the result. In fact it is a better fit than the Nillkin one I was originally using.
I have pics but cannot post links as I have under 10 posts. Just wanted to share as there are not many options available for this one.
Cheers

I was in Thailand and needed a replacement screen protector, couldn't find one for Nokia 8.1, they came up with this solution by using an iPhone XS Max one, and I'm happy with the result. In fact it is a better fit than the Nillkin one I was originally using.
I have pics but cannot post links as I have under 10 posts. Just wanted to share as there are not many options available for this one.
Cheers

Thank you
I tried to get one from so many places without any luck, if you've been to Bangkok there's 100's and 100's of mobile places but none had anything for Nokia 8.1.
This is the what I ended up with, and bought a couple of spares as well

[REVIEW] Ultimate Shield Tempered 9H Glass screen protector

Ultimate Shield Tempered 9H Glass screen protector
Hey guys, here is my review of the Ultimate Shield Tempered 9H Glass screen protector and I must say - I'm converted!!
Read on....(also see the attached pictures)
Contents:
- The tempered glass screen protector
- Screen cleaning cloth (wet)
- Dust stickers
- Microfiber cloth
Installation:
Be sure to do this in as dust-free environment as possible. I like the kitchen for this reason (no carpets for me there), or the bathroom works great too as you can use the steam from the shower to help any dust settle whilst you complete the install!
1. Using the wet cloth helps to give the screen a good clean removing any oily fingerprints and/or dirt.
2. The dry cloth dries the screen (don't worry, the wet cloth doesn't 'wet' it that much!) and the dust stickers are there to ensure any last little bits of dust aren't present.
You'll want to spend time on ensuring there are no little bits on your screen as this can spoil the look, at least to those who won't be able to stop noticing that little eyelash hair in the middle of the screen!
3. Carefully remove the protective layer of the screen protector, keeping the exposed glass side facing down. There is a slight adhesive, of some form, which any bit of dust/hair ending up there may be tricky to remove so make this step as swift as possible, taking extra care. Keep your thumbs/fingers away from that side of the glass to avoid any fingerprints getting stuck there, holding the protector by the side only.
4. Lower the screen protector towards your phone, but don't place it on quite yet. Really line up the protector, looking at it from directly above and I'd recommend using the camera cut out as the guide. Ensure the selfie-camera lines up nicely in the hole but also that the full length of the protector runs parallel to the phone.
5. Once you're happy with the alignment, place the protector on the screen, with the selfie-cam side down first, then slowly but firmly lowering the rest of the screen protector down. Or to say another way, press the top of the screen protector down and then press towards the lower end of the protector, until you reach the bottom speaker end.
6. Some bubbles may be trapped underneath the screen. Don't worry! Use your finger/thumbs to firmly yet carefully press out the bubbles, pressing it out toward's the edge of the screen. You can also wrap a credit card in the dry cloth, and use that as a way to force out some air bubbles.
If you're not happy with the alignment and/or have anything stuck under there, then it is possible to remove and reapply. Do this very carefully though, by using your nail to lift it up from the corner, taking extra care not to fingerprint that side of the protector. Use the dust sticker to remove any bits. Though again, be as quick as possible as whilst that side of the protector is exposed, more stuff might land there!
Impressions:
From being a long time user of the film screen protectors, those being 'wet installed' etc. I must say I have been converted! I did have my hesitations about using glass protection, as a while back I used one and it failed to impress me. Previously I had found this type of material, glass vs plastic film, would add a mirror-like reflection to the screen, even more so than the Gorilla Glass screen that the device already had. Also, with my love of AMOLED devices I found glass screen protectors would detract from the 'deep black' the screen would display, and make such colours more of a grey, which affected viewing pleasure.
But not with this one!!
Feel - I instantly fell in love with how this looked and felt. It has no loss of sensitivity and I have not felt the need to have to swipe harder or change the way I interact with the phone. It feels just as responsive as it did prior to installation!
Looks - There is no glare/mirroring effect and so as far as it's looks are concerned, it's practically invisible! The screen colours look as vibrant as they did before and blacks still look as deep as they did
Fit - As you can see I have this installed with this rugged case and it fits PERFECTLY. This case slightly lips over and so there is no dust being trapped around the edge of the screen protector. I'd presume it will also be compatible with other cases too, as it is full coverage, going right to the edges with it's own bezel, not just covering the screen.
I highly recommend the use of this screen protector, for the added peace of mind that the screen is further protected against scratches etc.
Any questions please do ask!
@cd993 thanks for the nice review. I also normally don't like the complete glas, but bought a similar one. I'm also quite happy with it except one thing which disturbs me a little bit. Mine has the black frame around it ( which is in itself not a problem) and this is taking away just a tiny bit from the screen (maybe half a millimeter on the left and right). Is it the same with your one ( from the pics it looks like it also has the black frame). That it take away a bit of the screen is only noticeable when using apps which really starting text completely on the left side ( like the netguard log for example )

Thanks! To be honest I don't think it does. I've just looked at various apps, such as matlog/play store etc and no noticeable screen cut off

Thanks, I maybe give that one a try then . Just to make clear for everybody. The app in the pic I attached in my former screenshot really starts at pixel 0 on the left side... It's really not a lot what's missing....

Thanks for the review mate!! I've used US's products before and I think they're the best screen protector I've ever used.
Ordered mine 2 days ago and can't wait for it to be delivered, I miss the sensitivity and feel that those usually have.

Email them, perhaps they'd be willing to...
I have applied this protector too....
Always had phones without screenprotector because I hate them... It takes away the feel of the phone... Bubbels underneath glass etc etc.
Bought it because I saw some scratches on the screen coming.
So after this positive review gave it a try. But man I must say it's a great quality.
Applying is very easy off course look for dust... Becaue I had one.... Took it off which is very easy to do... Rinsed it off under water....
Take two was a succes.... Didn't dry it just putt it on the phone and wipe wipe wipe and a lot of patience....and rubbing. It was bubble free.
But glad I did it.... In fact I find the screen better looking.. Bit of 3d effect...
Fp and typing is as normal.
Only con its a bit heavy....
Don't compare this to a 5 dollar screenprotector which is also the reason why I hated them.

Glad you like it! Yeah it really is a great screen protector, basically looks the exact same with it on and barely noticeable!

Is your screen protector from spigen?
thanks.
I'm using a chinese version but have some issues. The protector have some kind of bend and it causes a bubble impossible to remove just in the front camera. Because of that my front cam don't focus right.
That's the one:

@cd993 from the pictures you attached it seems the screen protector has real curved edges. Am I right or is just my impression? If you could add more pictures where we can see how curved are the edges without the case, I would appreciate.
I'm looking for a good screen protector that has curved edges so I can use a slim cover.
Currently I have a Cafele full screen protector (bought on AliExpress for 4 USD), which is good and has a nice feeling, looks very similar to this one, but it doesn't have curved edges and because of that it doesn't stick very well in the corners, if I use a slim case.
Thanks.

Hmm I remember then being curved yes, but no overly so.
Either way I certainly recommend it and fitted it great, as well as being case friendly, in my experience
