Do I need to, and if so, how to update firmware and vendor security patch level? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

Apologies if this is something very obvious but I don't understand much about this stuff. All I have been doing for the last few years is install the latest version of lineage (monthly for the security updates) and just leave it there, because I don't wanna screw up my phone.
I just saw that lineage support has been dropped dropped for this device, so I decided to move to the AOSIP Android Q build.
I was checking 'About Phone', when I noticed that vendor security patch level dated all the way back to 2018.

I don't know what it is but it seemed concerning especially after all I hear about keeping your phone updated with the latest patches and stuff. Likewise I have also seen the word 'firmware' being thrown out a lot on this forum, so I would like to know whether I need to update it as well. I have never done it after I first installed a custom ROM on this device in 2018.
That's it basically, I wanted to ask is there something I should do before I do the usual clearing system, data, cache, dalvik and flash the intended ROM and gapps?
Thank you <3

Vendor Image Mismatch on latest Lineage 15.1

Do you know what is it? Look:

Also this cannot be hidden:
How to fix it?
I have the same problem on my oneplus 2, so it might be related to the update.
Heyyo, unsure if it is due to the April fools joke or Google but tbh I think it's due to the way Google checks for device certification.
There is updates pushed to Gerrit to fix the fingerprint and device properties to prevent this issue which will be included in the next official build for 15.1.
https://review.lineageos.org/#/c/210870/
https://review.lineageos.org/#/c/210866/
As for the OnePlus2? I'd imagine the same thing there.... Yep she's on Gerrit to be tested and merged. It's the system and vendor build fingerprint commit
https://review.lineageos.org/#/q/project:LineageOS/android_device_oneplus_oneplus2
Well, I think this is it: https://review.lineageos.org/#/c/210866/
My build with above fix included is ok. You can find similar fixes for other devices. For those who are running official build, need to wait for next nightly.
Second problem is of course April fools, it's not any real issue
edit: as I can see, @ThE_MarD posted the same gerrit link. Good point.

If you're anything like me you were itching to modify your Galaxy Fold and with the help of some very helpful folks in the community I've so far managed to achieve the following:
- Device rooted
- Magisk installed
- Encryption disabled
- Process authentication disabled
- Debloated (to my requirements)
The things I have not yet managed to achieve are:
- No custom kernel (no kernel sources released yet despite 4 requests! >_>)
- No TWRP (same reason as above - can't build a kernel for it until we have kernel sources.)
Once the custom kernel is out I'll draft together a guide for the whole process end-to-end of unlocking the bootloader, rooting the device, installing TWRP and installing Magisk.
Just holding off for now until we have a working recovery since if you do something wrong and break your Fold without a recovery you're in a very bad position.
Wow!
Fantastic news
I'm guessing this is for the oversea models? Not the unlocked an att
Sorry for bumping and old thread but..
If it's possible to share the resources that may work for the F900U this would be great.. Please!! *begs*

Downgrade Nokia 1 TA-1066 from Android 10 Go to Android 8.1 Go

The Nokia 1 recently got the Android 10 update. The update got lot of bugs like SD card losing write permissions, launcher3 not having widgets and shortcuts on top of other bugs in Pie.
This has compelled me to look for going back to Android 8.1 Oero where it has best compatibility.
I have no experience in flashing images.
So far, I have found firmware files from here.
I want to know how to flash those files via adb/fastboot or any other process and whether it will work for Nokia 1 TA-1066 (if device variants matter for this purpose).
In one of the zip files(FIHSW_FRT-1550-0-00WW-B03_600WW_8.1.0_20190305.full.deflate.4fefafc6c6b7373b7961be504e49a9684f4e8730.zip) I downloaded, following are file files inside.

[UPDATE]: I used the SP Flash Tool to install firmware for my phone and it worked.

Question WSA w/ Android 12+: Replaceable by other GSI ROM ?

Ran LLD app ( its APK is attached ) what returned ( excerpt )
these WSA specs

so it's proofed it's a GSI ROM.
For me now the million dollar question is: can it get replaced by a Pixel 7 related GSI ROM - I know it's available, released December 2022 - both as OTA and as Factory Image ? This would be a big upgrade because Google revealed the Pixel 7 during an event in October 2022, succeeding the Pixel 5 ( WSA actually is based on it ) what arrived in October 2020.
I think
In theory: YES
In practice: Probably NO,
What's your opinion ? Have a solution? Let us know, if. TY
Pls I'm I missing something: how do I possibly get rounded corners on apps when opening and switching? I've tried so many GSIs, and so far only lawnchair 12.1 has that feature as far as I know.

alright, meow.
Won't update, doe, because I fear that the update might break my root, and by extension, the Magisk modules i've installed for the purpose of customizing my UI, meow.
Well, we do not need root for our phones, so we could update without any problem.
When we do not get security updates anymore, we (my wife and i) will buy a new phone.
