Note 20 Preorder Thread - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Questions & Answers

Just preordered my Note 20 from Samsung. Didn't think orders started until tomorrow but I guess doing the little reserve thing for the event yesterday actually got my $50 more for trade in and a day ahead of other orders.
Says expected delivery is 8/21 but the email said these first orders where the first to arrive so hopefully it comes a bit sooner. I know Samsung ships early unlike Apple.

Curious, which model, Note 20 or Note 20 Ultra? Didn't see the live event, so it appears that there is no Plus version, correct?

There is no Plus. It's Note 20 and 20 Ultra this forum is for the Note 20.

why note 20, not note 20 ultra?

Because I didn't want to spend a ton of money. Also I actually prefer the flat screen because when I'm holding it in 1 hand my palm doesn't throw it off. Screen res and refresh rate doesn't bother me as the lower ones will give better battery life and I prefer that over refresh rate.
Also I was trading in so I basically got this for $400 with tax and a bunch of free accessories so can't beat that.

Note 20 or the Note 20 Ultra
I can’t decide which one to get. I just bought a Sony ZV1 so I don’t really need it for the camera. But only having 128 Gb storage is not ideal. Does anyone think 128GB is not enough storage?

Thinking of getting the Note 20 Ultra, but the Samsung site shows a 36 month plan. Not sure i wanna get locked in that long. 2 years has been bad enough...

Anyone get do the Private Pre-order where you get an additional $50 credit (from pre-registering)? I can't tell if its on top of the $200 or brings it up to the $200 credit for the Note 20 Ultra.

It’s on trade in not the store credit. Like if you trade an S20 the $650 is really $600 with the $50 bonus.

I don't think that is correct. The email I got last night says:
"**18+ & 50 US/DC only. So its saying its giving you $50 credit.

Does the Note 20 work on the verizon 5g network, or is it like the s20 where you have to get the ultra to use the verizon 5g network?

Yeah, I definitely would need to finance. Looks like with my Note 9 trade in, going through Samsung.com would end up $25/mo for 3 years, going through Verizon would be $36/mo for 2 years. Either way cheaper than the $45/mo I've been paying on my Note 9 for the last 2 years (512gb version).

Ya i got another email apparently the $50 wasn’t applied right and will be refunded when the device ships.

In case anyone else was ordering through Samsung and searching for the Access program... They're not opening it until after the phone is out (dumb, I know). But you have 30 days to add your phone to the program, so Samsung said once we get the phone to go to the Samsung Members/shop app (can't remember which) and change the plan to Access. That way you can upgrade in a year (or actually sooner!) and get your debt forgiven! Plus you're only paying the 36-month plan price (plus premium care at reduced cost), making it an EXCELLENT choice for annual upgraders like me. Saves money over traditional financing and allows for upgrades. I just wish they offered it with pre-orders so it wasn't so confusing. I had to chat with them for like an hour to get it figured out.

Cheapest place to buy non contract Note?

My cheapest long term option right now is to buy a Note straight up. I haven't seen any place under VZW right now. I wanted to get one for around 600. Most of the ones on ebay are going for more than original price right now.
Any suggestions for is VZW price of 699 the lowest price?
VZW price is the lowest I have found. I am going to buy it at Best Buy though so I can put it on my Best Buy CC and get 18 months no interest.

Search this forum and you will find a few threads already but I would say Amazon wireless is the cheapest but it is out of stock as of now... Tax depends on your state of course.
Best buy will pm vzw, then open a cc account...they will knock $20 off, then if you opt to pay the full amount when bill comes in, they take 4% off. Not a bad deal.
I purchased mine at BB and they PMed VZW. Also 18 months no interest or 4% rewards points. I just checked Amazon and they have it in stock for 644.99 and free shipping

That's the internation version that's not compatible with Verizon.
For the OP, keep an eye on Craigslist. Saw one the other day one day old with body skins for $600 but warranty is questionable when buying second hand.

Same here... I started with a 16gb S3 from Craigslist and had that swapped out about 3 times and then I got a 32gb from craigslist and swapped that one out once so as long as you keep the insurance on your account than I think you are okay... They never questioned me about any receipts or asked me where I purchased my device from. :good:
I got one of craigslist for $500 on Saturday. I'd been watching them on ebay when I found this one. There are a couple more in my area for around that price.

Best Buy Purchase
Hi everyone,
I see people have purchased their Note II through Best Buy using some 18 month 0% financing. Does this mean that you can pay installments of the full retail price of the phone?
My mom's current VZW plan that I am on only has one basic phone on it in which I plan to transfer someones upgrade on it to get the Note II. But if Best Buy does the installment payments, I'm going to figure out which is cheaper to purchase and which is cheaper to upgrade between the Note II and the iPhone 5, which my sister really wants.
Looking forward to advice/suggestions.
Thanks,
SlyG07

Yes you can make a min payment of $25.00 a month and as long as you pay it before the 18 months are up you pay no interest. Just don't be even a day late or BB will start charging you interest and you lose the 0 % financing. Also as of today you have to spend a min of $429.00

Well you'll definitely have to pay $429.00+ if you're going for either phone at retail value, lol.
Love using Amazon Wireless.. no tax in my state, 2day free shipping and 30 day return policy on the phone!... even returned my SGS3 on the 30th day and no problems what so ever
I bought mine off of craigslist for $500. Just gotta watch the listings and haggle with people. Always check the ESN before accepting any device. Just call Verizon tech support and they take care of it no questions asked. I swap phones every couple months or so and my TEP has remained in tact, no questions asked. I carried my TEP over from a Verizon Galaxy Nexus, an iPhone 5 and now to my Note 2.
Best Buy Financing
Just read up on the 18 month financing if making a purchase from Best Buy...You need a Best Buy Reward Zone credit card. I guess that's not an option anymore.

Compensation

I waited most of this year for the Note 7 to be released.
I've not been able to use the phone properly for most of September (had to leave it at home during a holiday where it would have been great to use the camera). Had the phone crippled to 60% battery. Had to pack up and exchange the phone. Have bought two cases (one temporary while official Samsung LED case came into stock), a wireless fast charger and signed up to a year long SIM only contract.
There is nothing on the market that makes a half decent replacement. There is absolutely nothing that covers all of the features and functionality.
We (in the UK) await Samsung's offer to rectify this.
If as is rumoured we are to be offered a full refund or an S7/S7Edge plus a refund of the difference then I find that utterly unacceptable. I could have bought an S7 Edge when it came out, I didn't want one. I certainly don't want one now when it's due to be replaced in less than 6 months time. I absolutely don't want one at full retail price.
So here is a proposal to Samsung. Sell me a S7 Edge at HALF price with the promise to buy it back and exchange it for an Note 8 when it is released next year. Refund the cost of all my accessory purchases.
As for the Gear VR (now rendered useless), I've no idea what to do with that.
someone need to make a petition for everyone urging Samsung to do the right thing. I can't use my Note 7 anymore and stuck in a 2 yr contract. I am willing to take the S7E for now but they should sell the Note 8 to us who had the Note 7 at a discounted price.

100% this. I want the option to use an S7 or similar until they've released a successor and allow me to take that up when it's available!
From what I've heard, people can exchange it for an s7or get a full refund for the device from contractor or the place you bought it from

That's the story that I've heard from a few sources. However it's hardly compensation is it.
I'm sorry for messing you about for the last month, I'm sorry that you will have to wait a year for a proper replacement, I'm sorry that you will have to pay FULL PRICE for a phone that you don't really want as a replacement. ETC. And for all these sorries we get NOTHING.
Not good enough.
Yeah but because they locked bootloader I had a T-Mobile version and I couldn't not Route 9 so like I said we can't bootloader locked I had to ship my T-Mobile one back to T-Mobile I got a full refund but then I purchased and international version so I could have came root but I had to purchase off of eBay. I paid the full amount through a store. But he is not holding the store accountable eBay not holding themselves accountable and Samsung cannot hold themselves accountable period Samsung will not give me a refund or help me out neither will eBay so at the time being I'm stuck

they are giving ppl 100 to stay pssssh
Accepting their replacement offer seems a total ripoff. The S7 Edge goes for 799€, the S7 for 699 in their online store over here in Germany, 200 € !! more than on Amazon.
I called Verizon, gave them all my note 7 receipts from Amazon and eBay like lens case, screen cover, 2 wireless chargers and they credited my account by the total amount. I am bringing in the VR to also get refunded. I get to keep the 256gb memory card and the wireless charger as the wife has s7 and can use them

Note 8 Special for Note 7 Users

I qualify for the special but I was wondering, do I pay the entire $930 bucks up front or do I only pay $505 up front? When I go through the promotional check out, it listed 930 bucks as a check out balance, Shouldn't the phone be 505?

you pay $535 up front, you have to pay the taxes
First you need to qualify, use your e-mail or Samsung account you used with Note7, if you can. Once they approve you, then you order online using the same credentials and it should show 930-425=505 plus tax unless it's Verizon model, which was about $35 more. They should e-mail you return fedex label, which you print and mail back your old phone in same box for free. Since you're using their account for shipping they should know what day you send it etc.
If you see full price you're doing something wrong, go back and start over with getting approved first. It sounds more complicated than it is in reality, follow links for Note 7 users or something like that. They had my e-mail on file from N7 times, so they send me an offer for N8 and I followed links included there, but there are links on their website as well.
Don't forget to order free gift: 360 cam or SD card and wireless charger, if it's still available, I think this expires soon.
Man did I make a huge mistake. A $425 one. Well I didnt realize that you are supposed to get the $425 upfront. I thought it was given to you once you send in the trade in device. Well I paid $1000+ for my Note 8 and sent in my trade in device and never got the $425. I've been calling Samsung Promotions / E Commerce department for the last 1.5 months to get the $425! They keep saying I need to wait 3 to 5 days each time I call. The last time I called they said I need to wait 10 to 15 business days....... This is ridiculous.
Use Samsung credit. Pay 505 using Samsung credit. Wait till the check for your Note 7 comes back (if you held on to it this long like I did). Pay Samsung credit 505 from check. Pocket the $400+ left over. Profit.

Samsung UK pre Orders & Deals

So my order went in quite fast for the S10+ 8/512gb in Ceramic white. I like what Samsung have done this year especially with the 5G variant coming soon.
I'm currently with Vodafone (not the best deal) at £77pm, there are better deals to be had with I believe Sky offering the best?
All carriers seem at present to be only offering up the 8/128gb version. So you will have to go third party, the likes of Carphone Warehouse, Mobile phones direct ect for the 512gb.
So what did you all order and what deal did you manage to get (with trade ins ect)
Got 350 trade in on 9+, I bought 10+ 8/128 and didnt get a deal but of course you get the 2 years interest free which I suppose is a deal in itself.

EE are offering 512GB
Has anyone done a trade in with Samsung before? This £300 for the S8 sounds a bit fanciful to me considering other places are offering £200 - £210 for it.
A bit of a story here. I'm on Three and been on PAYG ever since I moved to the UK, but due to circumstances I use Mobile hotspot as my primary internet at home.
So for £69 p/m I went with S10+ Black 8/128GB version.
With that I have unlimited texts, calls and internet which like I said is crucial. Without contract I was spending £35 anyway so if you think about that overall I'll spend £840 instead of £999. And gonna claim pair of Galaxy buds which I would buy anyway, so the price of the phone for me drops to £710. Not bad, now planning on selling my Pocophone F1, screen is so unresponsive I'm done with it lol

Yeah but if that's the offer in place, they have to adhere to it, despite let's say Mobile recycling sites.
I've gone with the Samsung, S10 128gb offer, S8+ trade in, free buds, just over £20/month, and also the Voda sim only £20/month 100GB data deal through Quidco with £50 cash back.
I went for S10+ 8/512 Ceramic Black via Samsung Store
Free ear buds
Free 2 years insurance
£1099
My deal
10% discount (£110)
S9+ - £335 trade in
Depoist £68
0% interest free over 2 years = £24. 46/month
Total paid £1099

Ordered the prism white 128gb from Mobiles.co.uk, still expected on the 8th but let's see. From experience they don't ship it early but on schedule
I ordered through buymobiles and got £48 pm for 50GB of data, unlimited texts and calls. Phone was £30 upfront but ordered through quidco and got £30 cashback. Having looked everywhere for a decent deal I think that's the best I found for myself, I don't mind spending a bit extra if it's spread out over the 2 years rather than paying more upfront.

You get an upgrade to 512gb for $1,199 which is what the 256gb model will cost after pre-order is over. So your basically saving $180.00 there as the 512gb model will be $1379.00. So you are really saving $500 Tradein +$180 Upgrade +$150 Store Credit = $830 in savings by preordering.
Ordered from Samsung Canada:
1TB Phantom Black
-$860 trade-in
-$230 2 year warranty plan promo

During the past week there were several emails saying that we would be able to get the S23U for only $330 with a trade in. Even trading in a Z Fold 4 doesn’t provide a trade in price this low, what a disappointment!
Anyone else having a hell of a time ordering? They keep canceling my order. I have tried a Samsung Financing account and my Discover card. In both cases, the payment goes through, and then Samsung just cancels it. I've been back and forth with support for over an hour trying to troubleshoot the TD Bank issue and finally tried my Discover and they just canceled it again.
Never in my life have I had a company give me so many problems when trying to give them money. I've tried updating my Samsung profile with the same info as well. It doesn't make any sense that they're even canceling an order that Discover approved.
What a joke.
They said "oh try again in a few days" but I'm sure this 15% off on Rakuten won't be there so they basically just lost the sale entirely seeing how they won't take a Pixel 7 Pro for trade in either.

Oh it's hilarious. My Rakuten pending cash back is at $1080 because of all these failures.
yeah I`m with GoogleFI and I preordered through there, 600.00 instant discount and free upgrade to 512gb storage for the same price as the 256gb just like what samsung doing on there webiste, all I have too do is keep it activate on GooglefF for 120 days, so it was $635.99 total for the 512gb green color.
I think I did pretty good with getting it through my carrier.
I am on T-Mobile and after trading in my Z Fold 3 (upgrading a line), getting the trade-in and promotion discounts, I financed the remaining balance on their 24 month E.I.P. with 0% interest at $15.04/mo. Total is $360.96 financed. I did have to pay the Sales Tax at the time or ordering which came out to $118.36.
Since I could not get the order through Samsungs website to work, I missed out on the $70 credit for accessories, but I bought the Ultra Unicorn Beetle Case for under $20, so no real complaints here.
Details:
Phone: S23 Ultra 512GB - Phantom Black - 1999.99
Trade Instant Credit: $161 (Z Fold 3 512GB)
Applied Credit: $839 ($35.96/mo applied to the $50/mo finance payment making payments $15.04/mo)
Sales Tax: $118.36 (paid at time of order)
Total Amount Financed: $360.96 (0% interest for 24 months)

I am thinking about that deal... I would have to open up a new prepaid eSIM to port to Fi but doesn't Fi have some rule about not using the phone anywhere else for the 120 days or you forfeit the discount? I don't know that I could have a new phone for 4 months that I wouldn't be able to use lol

I mean I would keep Fi for that time. I just can't go without at least using the eSIM on my main Tello line. Or maybe I can carry two phones but that's a pain.

How do Rakuten cashbacks work? They email a check to your billing address? I'm wondering because I'm from the US.

Mine was $760 total after Trade in and paying $16 extra for the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro on top of the $150 store credit. After I sell the Buds 2 pro l'll only end up paying $660 total for the 512gb model which aint too bad. Don't need the buds cause I am deaf but it was best way to use the full $150 store credit.

I was trying tonight and I couldn't get any where with Samsung. I kept having issues at the trade in screen. Sometimes it would give me a $500 trade in or a $1000 trade in for my s22 ultra. Finally, I gave up and went to T-Mobile and also on there website I was running into issues when I got to the insurance, and I was only offered $500 trade in.
I finally called and I was able to complete the order.
I probably would not have upgraded so early, except for the fact I have had a lot of issues with my s22 ultra(4th phone). Im hoping the s23 does not have the same issue with the speaker and static noises.

You tie a PayPal account to Rakuten to get an automatic payout or they'll send you a physical check. It's quarterly I believe.
