im looking for that firmware version and i found it on Easy-firmware.com
the thing is
its protected by a paywall and might be a scam
so did u find the firmware somewhere else?

Just older older one
{Mod edit: Link removed}
Can someone hack this firmware and stop it communicating with China's server? That's what they say in their agreement upon device setup. Also mobile network selection is locked to Auto only, this is annoying.

I am currently using that firmware, aside from unable to select network mode, did you happen to encounter loosing connection when wifi extender is turned off? My device seem to disconnect after few minutes if idle, but the problem is not occurring if the router is plugged to power or if the wifi extender function is turned on.

Disabling Sleep mode has no effect, or even setting it to 30 mins, before it reach that the router already unresponsive. Fiddling with my settings, turning on the wifi extender option is the only one keeping it active. And if i switch to using 5ghz band, a weird symbol appears. Something like a home symbol over the wifi signal.

Well, then you need to use recent official firmware, I don't have such problems there.

Where can I get one? I have tried all the firmwares listed in easy-firmware. And the sad thing with this, router prevents a firmware rollback. It fails to install unless its a higher version.

If you find a solution to this problem, I will be very grateful to you.I also can't figure out what the problem is, and no Internet helps me in this.

Today I turned this modem on and it updated itself, now wifi can work in 5Ghz. However, my carrier has blocked it's imei from using data.
Does anybody know how to change the imei on this modem? Maybe modified firmware?

Thread cleaned from links to androidhost.ru, which isn't accepted as filehost on XDA.

[ISSUE] How to prefer Wi-Fi to 3G

I have a HTC Fuze. The last few ROMS that i have been using (Energy, RRE, Tael), all the Apps always use the 3G internet to do their work even if a much faster Wifi is connected. Is there any way to make all apps(including things like email) globally prefer the Wifi when available? Also I dont want to have to keep changing settings to do this, It simply needs to be "If Wifi available use it, else use 3G"
Thanks in advance.
What i did was to go to start>settings>connections>advanced>select networks and change the default connection to the internet to "My work network", rather than my 3G network. This way, if theres any connection to the internet needed, my phone will use my wifi connection. The problem with this, however, is that when you dont have a wifi connection available, the phone will not connect to the internet unless you change the above setting back to your 3G network. If anyone knows a better way, please let us know
no i cant keep switching. thats too much trouble. there must be a better way.

Does it automatically connect to WiFi when a known network is within range even when the phone is in sleep? If yes, does it disconnect once not in use for a while?

As far as I know there is no way to do it automatically. You can use one or the other but they must be switched manually. All HTC phones have always worked this way. Maybe if the demand was high enough which apparently it is not a Chef could come up with an app that would do it. But for now you must do it manually.

that is extremely failurous. not preferring the fastest internet connection is major fail. did not know that.
My phone does this automatically. It uses the WiFi whenever it's on. If the WiFi is off, it uses the data connection.
Maybe I'm understanding it wrong?

what the heck? how? u must help me find out..
i think it does prefer wifi over 3g in WM 6.5...!!
to check it out here is wt i've done....turn data connection off...check that its on in the notification manager "when u click on the task bar"..then run any app that needs internet " opera, msn messenger, email...etc" while this app is online..
now there r two ways to check it
1-the notification manager & see if it turned to 3g data connection...if so u should find a timer running in ur service provider section, if not then its only using wifi
2-check the communication manager & see if it turned the data connection on, if its off then its using wifi...
thats how it is with my touch pro...i'm using energy rom nov. 08 build
Indeed it prefers wifi connections 2 data, but You have to :
1. Have Known wifi spots in range
2. Keep wifi connection on, while in stand by
Keep in mind that if a program starts to use the data connection it wont change to use the wifi one. So firstly connect and then open programs.

apparently its some sort of combo of this. i am using 6.5. any apps that have been using 3g continue with it. and i have to go to the comm screen and turn off data to force new apps to consume wifi. which isnt too bad, certainly not as bad as going to the network options. i would wish they made this a bit more seamless like with the desktop technology, i can switch from wired to wireless lan without even dropping a skype call.

now i have discovered a new problem. even if i open the app after i have wifi turned on and data turned off, some apps just dont want to use the wifii.
Bing maps and google maps for example just tell me there is no internet.
this is really pissing me off, whats the point of having wifi on a phone if the apps wont use it. i dont really care about the google location service if the data is through the internet, but atleast turn on.
lame.

Galaxy S II Wifi Problem (Need to Restart It to properly work)

Hi guys, in this days i have noticed a problem with my gsII.
Sometimes I have the gsII connected to my router but internet connection doesn't work.
I'll try to explain better what i mean... I start wifi on my gsII and use internet connection without problem. Then I set the phone in standby mode leaving wifi on. When after a while i want to use internet connection, it doesn't work. The telephone is still connected to my router but i can't use internet on the phone.
The only way to make internet connection work is to disable wifi e then reactivate it.
This is really frustrating....
I've got the telephone from three months but only now I'm noticing this problem because first I used to disable the wifi and activate it only when i need it.
Am I the only to have this problem? Is there a solution?
Thanks to everyone in advance... any help would be appreciated
A video is more than thousands of words, so this is an "example video" of the bug:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4um-AqLk1jw
Test it with a different router, i.e. Cisco E4200.
It would a good idea but i have to buy a new router or go to some friend's house for 2-3 hours. I'll keep this idea in my mind thanks
I have this problem, mines a bt home hub v3. Don't think its the router I blame the phone. I have to restart phone to make it connect with ability to use internet

I do not know what " standby mode" is? I have the same phone and have no problems with wifi. The phone goes to sleep when I do not use it and awakes when I use it.
It seems that your phones wifi is sleeping and not waking up. I always turn it off when not using it anyway. Not the full answer but it works for me.

I believe I know and had the problem you describe.
For me the Wifi would work perfectly at first and then after the phone had been left for a while I would try to use it and get 'no connection' type errors. Sometimes it would even stop working even if I just waited too long with the phone still on in my hand.
I found that if I either disabled router wifi security or set it to WEP the problem disappeared. The issue occurred on 2.3.3. My router is a DLink one fyi. I have yet to test 2.3.4 which came out yesterday in Sweden. Ill let u know.

I tried changing the channel also. I have heard others getting this to work. Didn't work for me. You can use Wifi Analyser app on phone to find a clear channel and see how u go changing your router perhaps?
I tried re flashing also using factory restore. No fix for me.
Also noticed that u can sometimes get phone to work by toggling Network Data on/off. Not really fun either.
The wifi channels and security settings I am talking about are settings in the router not the phone. What wifi security are you using in your router?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
I am not a believer the router is at fault in any case. I would entertain an incompatibility but nothing more.
Original router and security settings work fine for...wait for it...an iphone 3gs and a Motorola Defy (yes the phone which seems to have issues with doing everything else!)
Either way an incompatibility is not acceptable either if that's what it is

I know this, and in fact i have to switch off and on wifi connection when this happens.
Now i'm trying to use channel 5 with the router ( but yesterday I've tested channel 6 and 13 without any result)
I hate this bug because beacause it happens only when he wants! I'm quite sure that assistance wouldn't solve the problem. A friend of mine has changed three gsII and said that every gsII that he has changed had this bug!
Ps: Another question.... How often do you have this bug?
Once a week? Once a day? Three times a day?

Is NOT the phone.
i have the same problem reported in the 1st post.
i have been turning wifi off and then on again for a quick fix until now but i think the solution might be to drop the security on the router from WPA to WEP. Haven't tried it yet tho, because it doesn't bother me that much.
I had an ipad previously (before i had the SGS2) and it had exactly the same behaviour. I looked up the problem then and found a FAQ from the ISP that mentioned a compatibility problem between ipad and that router, so their suggestion was to set the router to WEP only.

For me it happens always after the phone comes back from stand by with wifi on.
steps to reproduce:
1-turn wifi on, and check it's connected and working
2-press power button to turn off screen
3-turn phone back on, try to access a new web page, it doesn't work
I noticed that while it's in stand by i will still receive email notifications so it probably only looses the connection when i turn it on again.
Also, if there was some program working (say, a download) when i went into standby it will probably still be transferring when it comes out of stand by, it's just the new connections that fail.

Wifi disconnection (Multiple WIFI)

Hello everyone,
Last week, suddenly i could not connect to my Home Wifi. And now that I am at the office a tryed again. No luck.
When I hit the SSID in my netwrok list it seems to connect but within a seconde it says: savec, secured. And I un-disable the screen so i can hit the network name again.
I just performed a reset, probleem is sill here. Is this a hardware issue? Is there some logging somewhere?
Kind regards,

If you are on stock rom, you can try entering service mode by dialling *#0011# and disabling Wireless Power Saving mode.
There was another fix involving etc/wifi folder on the device, but I cant find the thread atm.

I'm trying to find the right thread which had this info.
You can also make sure that the router doesn't have too many connected devices, sometimes that is also a problem.
BUT if it connects and then drops (It says "Connected" then "Saved, Secured") then that could also mean hardware issue. Because there is no problem connecting but your phone can not maintain connectivity.

Honor 5X Won't Reliably Connect to Wifi

My home wifi details are saved on my phone. For some reason when I come home from work my phone refuses to automatically connect. I have to manually connect every time. Is this some strange setting on the phone or 'power saving'?
Does anyone know why this is and how I can fix it? It's unrooted KIW-L21, running 5.1.1.
I have the same problem.
What is strange is that this problem started about a week ago. The first two weeks, the 5x connected automatically, like all other devices that we have. The Honor 5x is the only device that has this problem.
Having exactly the same problem.
That is strange. I have not seen this moving between work and home wifi. Always connects.
It is the same with my KIW-L21. I attached a screenshot where the first wifi should connect automatically. Underneath the name of the wifi it says: "No internet connection possible, deactivated".
Then I need to connect manually. That will work fine but is not so practicable.
I have been having the same problem for just over a week, I got back from work today and it decided to connect automagically again. In trying to fix this I unchecked a box in advanced wifi options which said check for internet access. It didn't appear to work at the time but might be worth giving it a go.
Sent from my KIW-L21 using Tapatalk
Well no combination of settngs seemed to have fixed it so far. I'm going to try a static IP and see if that makes any difference.
If any of you have root, the wifi config files are located in: /data/misc/wifi/wpasuplicant.conf. You might find something interesting.
Static IP makes no difference. The phone is close to being returned right now. Massive shame as it's good other than this.

I have found out that with the option "check for internet access" off (under Settings -> Wifi -> Menu -> Advanced Settings) it still won't work, but it will automatically connect to Wifi when the screen is turned off and on again. At least it's quicker than having to connect manually, but still not a satisfying solution.
My model number is also KIW-L21.
UPDATE: Removing the home network and saving it again (with the exact same settings as before) apparently solve the issue. Now it is autoconnecting when the toggle is switched to on.

I really can't understand why there are apps compatible with Honor 5X in the United States (KIW-L24) and not compatible with the same device in Europe (KIW-L21). As far as I know, the main difference is the price (more expensive in Europe, around 268$).

I had the exact same issue. This happened on multiple wifi networks. Would not automatically connect to wifi, showed disabled, I would manually hit connect again. Several times a day it would just disco. I rooted and tried the 140 update, same thing. When I installed the CM12 ROM it didn't even detect my wireless network!! Weird. I changed the channel on my home wifi and it immediately saw the network. Something with the wifi channel, security, and EMUI?? Working great now though for five days.

Phone won't connect to work wifi (and others) "disabled"

Hi guys,
so this is kind of a last resort... I asked and looked everywhere trying to figure this out. There are certain WIFIs that my v30 (H930, v21o, stock rom with magisk) just won't connect to. For example at my work wifi. Or recently I got it with a wifi at a McDonalds.
-->When I try to connect to it, it first says "connecting..." but only for a very short instant, then it switches to "saved" and finally after another ~30sec it finally states "disabled" and then it stays there without ever connecting.
I have talked to the IT guy and he never even gets an attempt to log in from my phones MAC adress, so there is no connection attempt made by the phone... We did router restarts, tweaked some settings... nothing. I tried resetting my network settings, updated firmwares...
Otherwise wifi works perfectly fine at home and at friends places with both 2.4ghz and 5ghz..
Any ideas?
Have you found a way to solve this problem?

so this is kind of a last resort...
Any ideas?

Do you have any custom DNS settings? One guy found out his work Wi-Fi network was rejecting his phone when using Cloudflare DNS.
How he figured that out, I don't know. But changed DNS server to another and he connected.

I'm having this issue with US99820H. There are some access points that the phone refuses to connect to.
It shows "Connecting...", and then "Saved", then "Disabled".
The phone is in Stock Oreo so there is no way to setting a custom DNS when the phone is not online.

Not true. Various ad blocker apps like Blokada and AdGuard change DNS servers. In AdGuard settings as well as Blokada you choose what DNS servers you want to use.
I'm not saying that's the reason you can't connect to Wi-Fi, but apparently some Wi-Fi networks don't like Cloudfire and there may be others they don't like. Are you using an ad blocker?
To answer your PM, I'm using rooted stock Oreo US998 20h. My wife, mother, sister and brother-in-law are using full stock Oreo US998 20h.

Thanks for the information!
I only use the DNS app from Cloudfare. And it cannot work without the phone being connected to the Internet.
I did tried to Force stop the app but still cannot connect to the access point.

Uhmm... do you have a SIM card? An active cell phone plan? Then you are connected to the Internet already. The problem you are having is connecting to a Wi-Fi network for your Internet connection instead of using mobile data.
I'm pretty sure the Cloudflare app works whether you use cellular internet or Wi-Fi internet. Otherwise it would be useless half the time.
If you don't have an active cell phone plan with data and are ONLY using Wi-Fi to connect to the Internet, your DNS settings are still being set by the Cloudflare app.
Your problem may be something completely different. I was just mentioning Cloudflare DNS settings as something I was aware of but most people aren't. Then it's striking that you indeed are using Cloudflare...

Maybe it really is the problem.
I don't use a SIM card in this phone.
I'll try uninstalling the Cloudflare app tomorrow to see if it works, since that access point is in the house of my friend.
But why are they preventing us to use custom DNS, though?

Assuming that's what the problem is, various reason. The guy that couldn't connect to his work Wi-Fi probably has corporate IT department that wants to log all DSN queries (Big Brother).
Some ISPs in the U.S. make you rent their cable modem/Wi-Fi gateway rather than provide your own. (Congress has now passed a law forbidding this but doesn't take effect for another month or two.) Anyway on those ISP owned gateways they control all the settings, including possibly blocking custom DNS servers.
For others just may be issues with Cloudflare 1.1.1.1, whereas Google's 8.8.8.8 may work just fine?
To test, you may want to install a DNS Changer app where you can change to DIFFERENT DNS servers of your choice.

Thank you for sharing the app.
I notice that this problem occurs after I Refurblish the phone with Us998 20h via LGUP.
Today I flashed the Nougat Us998 10d in Partition mode (LGUP), factory reset with hard buttons, then flash Oreo US998 20h in Upgrade mode (LGUP).
After done setting up everything, I can connect to that access point.
I installed the Cloudflare app, turn it on with wifi on, and then turn the app and wifi off.
I could still connect to that access point.
So I think the problem wasn't the Cloudflare app.
I think the Firmware us998 20h must be missing something. (The downloaded firmware file's md5 code is exactly the same with the md5 code in the thread about us99820h kdz).

Interesting. That's about the opposite of what I would have expected. Refurbish rebuilds from the ground up, like a super duper factory reset.
If you had bootloader unlock and TWRP custom recovery and told me you updated to Oreo 20h using TWRP flashable zips and didn't have everything -- that would be understandable. Those are incremental updates, which is why you have to flash the 20e, 20f, 20g, 20h zips all back to back to get "everything" in the 20h KDZ.
But telling me you flashed 20h KDZ (which is an LG official FULL stock image) via LGUP Refurbish mode and somehow it's incomplete vs "Upgrade" mode via LGUP (which only adds parts you don't already have) is very strange.
However, I'm glad it's working for you now. I'm just very puzzled.
Just wanted to report back, since Pie update all my WiFi connecting issues went away. It was clearly an issue with the firmware I used back then and something they fixed with Android 9.
